Chapter 14

Eton Nir - Sundas 17 of Frostfall of the 203 of the Fourth era

The wind blew on a clear night as Edzard rode at full gallop. He had departed in the evening of the previous day, having conquered the city of Cloudrest with the help of Odahviing and Durnehviir. The city was one of the few settlements that were still loyal to the Thalmor. The rest of the cities, such as Skywatch and Firsthold, had rebelled against DominionThalmor. The cities of Shimmerene, Dusk, and Sunhold had been taken by the combined forces of the Empire-Skyrim-High Rock-Hammerfell-Elsweyr-Valenwood alliance. And finally the city of Lillandril had declared itself neutral in the conflict.

Thanks to this, the Thalmor only had the capital city of Alinor left. Although the reports that came from there said that there were riots almost every day. These revolts had forced the Thalmor to use their remaining troops to quell them.

The Thalmor were currently on the brink of final defeat to the Empire and its allies, but Edzard had received reports that the Arch-mage Arcane was working on an artifact capable of turning the war around. And that is why you are currently in this area.

"I hope I don't get too much attention." Edzard said as he led his horse down a path used by shepherds. He hoped in this way to avoid possible ambushes that would delay him in his mission. He currently was dressed in armor that consisted of a chainmail with a surcoat that had the heraldry of the Empire. Steel gauntlets and boots. Due to the type of battle he would have, he had decided not to wear his helmet. Since this would be more of a hindrance than a protection in this battle.

"To whom I lie. I'm sure they'll see me coming from a mile away." Edzard said frustrated. And if you wonder the reason for this frustration. The answer is very simple. He is riding on Arvak. Which is a skeletal horse that had blue flames on its tail and mane.

Edzard looked up and in the distance, he could make out his destination. This place was the old Aldmer tower known as the Crystal Tower. Tower that was once a great mystical structure, but which today was nothing more than rubble and ruins. This is all thanks to the attack of a horde of Daedras during the Oblivion crisis.

"I don't understand who would live in a ruined tower." he commented as he continued riding. "But who am I to criticize people."

Shaking his shoulders, he decided to continue north. After riding for a few hours, he finally reached the ruins of a once great tower. Once he had dismounted, he proceeded to cancel the summon of Arvak. Grabbing his swords, he started walking towards the tower. After climbing the stairs he reached what was once the entrance to the tower. Taking a good look at the area, he could see a person wearing black armor with golden edges, snow-white hair and blood-red eyes.

"Welcome to my humble abode." Cyrelas said as he bowed. After speaking, he started walking towards Edzard.

"It's nice to finally meet you face to face. Dovahkiin." Cyrelas's voice exuded a great deal of arrogance.

"Well, the truth is that I don't know who you are." Edzard said with a mocking smile on his face.

"Oh. I feel disappointed." Cyrelas put his hand to him heart as he pretended to be sad. "And to think that I am one of your biggest fans."

"Sorry, but I don't give autographs." Edzard's hand began to go to his sword at his waist.

"What a pity." Cyrelas said as he raised his right hand.

Edzard didn't know he was trying to do the Altmer, but he jumped to the right once his nose caught a peculiar scent. And thank the gods that he did, for a second later, a large number of spikes made of ice came out of the place where he had been standing moments before.

"You really have good reflexes." Cyrelas said with a smile. "However, I must ask, what did the trap give away?"

"You hid the rune with illusion magic so that it is not seen." Edzard replied as he pointed at his nose. "But you didn't remove the smell from it."

"Oh. So you are able to smell the magic." amazement was heard in Cyrelas's voice.

Edzard stared at him, not sure if his reaction was real or if he was pretending. "It is customary to say your name before trying to kill someone."

"Certain. Excuse my manners." Cyrelas said as he pushed his cloak away. "I am Cyrelas Elsinius. The current Arcane Arch-mage."

"Edzard Rolandson." Edzard replied as he drew his sword. "Although I think you already knew."

"You are right." Cyrelas replied as he moved his hand to his waist and drew a slim, simple-looking sword.

Edzard and Cyrelas stared at each other. And around him the wind stopped blowing, the insects stopped making noise, and the whole room was deathly silent.

Tightening his grip on his sword, Edzard lunged quickly at Cyrelas and tried to impale him; however, Cyrelas deflected the blow and with him free hand hurled spears of ice at Edzard. Edzard dodged the spears by leaping to the side. And once he was on the ground he launched a fireball towards Cyrelas. Cyrelas, seeing the fireball approaching him, leaped back to avoid it; However, once the fireball passed him, Edzard appeared in front of him and punched him across the face. Thanks to this, Cyrelas shot out and crashed into the wall.

Edzard tried to take a breath, but before he knew it he was being sent flying. After hitting the wall, he looked up to see that in Cyrelas's outstretched hand was a golden-colored orb.

"Telekinesis." Edzard said once he was on his feet again. "An unorthodox way to use it."

"You're right." Cyrelas said as he approached Edzard. "However, you cannot deny its benefits."

Edzard did not respond verbally as he rushed towards Cyrelas.

"What a disappointment." Cyrelas said seeing Edzard attack him head on. "I thought that as Arch-mage you would attack me with magic."

"I'm doing that." Edzard said as he smiled. "¡SU!"

When Edzard shouted, his sword was engulfed by currents of air. When he was in front of Cyrelas, he unleashed a swift succession of sword attacks. Cyrelas tried to stop and deflect the attacks, but he couldn't. This was because the Thu'um used by Edzard had enchanted his sword with the power of the wind and this greatly increased his attack speed. Edzard took advantage of his increased attack speed to wound Cyrelas. With a feint he managed to cut a horizontal slash on him chest at the same moment that the effect of the Thu'um wore off.

"Well, it's not that we need our nipples." Cyrelas said seeing the scratch on him armor. "However, I would like you not to take them away from me."

Edzard rolled his eyes at what Cyrelas said. "Man, that's weird."

"Do you know that this is an erogenous zone of the body?" Cyrelas asked nonchalantly.

Edzard was about to reply; however, his eyes widened when he saw Cyrelas in front of him. He quickly tried to stop the attack, but was unable to do so. Edzard felt a great pain in his abdomen. Place where Cyrelas had made a horizontal cut.

'Because of Dibela's tits. If it weren't for the chainmail, they would have gutted me.' Edzard thought as he saw how his chainmail was damaged by the attack he received.

"That is a good chainmail." Cyrelas said looking at Edzard's chainmail. "Steel from the Skyforge?"

Edzard opened his eyes when he heard Cyrelas say that. But he decided to answer with another question. "How do you know?"

"It's very simple boy." Cyrelas said. "My sword is made of Meteoric Iron."

Cyrelas' response astonished Edzard and frightened him at the same time. The meteoric iron was a fragment of Aetherius. A very rare and very powerful metal. And this was the first time that he had faced someone who used a weapon of that quality.

"Although it is very rare and difficult to work with. It is very powerful and weapons made from this material have a great edge." Cyrelas spoke again. "However, there are some materials that it cannot cut easily."

"The steel of the Skyforge, the ebony and the dragon bone." Edzard interrupted.

"You're right. The steel of the Skyforge holds a little. The ebony resists more than the previous one. And finally the dragon bone is the only one capable of resisting almost completely." Cyrelas commented irritably at being interrupted. "You have no manners."

"Yes I have them. I just decide not to use them very often." Edzard replied, shaking his shoulders.

After saying that, Edzard activated his wolf blood. Cyrelas raised an eyebrow when he saw Edzard's eye change color; however, him eyes widened when he had to dodge the sword that nearly severed his head. Edzard continued to attack with great speed trying to overwhelm Cyrelas; however, he had to stop and begin to dodge the ice spears that fell on him. Cyrelas was casting spells left and right. From ice spears to lightning balls. Edzard was not far behind and countered the enemy spells with his own spells.

The battlefield was being bombarded by spells being cast. A battle of attrition had begun. And unfortunately for Cyrelas, Edzard had more magic than he did; however, he had more experience and knowledge in the magical arts.

While Edzard was casting spells that he had learned. Cyrelas began to cast spells that had been created by himself. Edzard had to roll on the ground to dodge a flaming spear, but when he got up he was sent flying by a strong gale.

"Aghh!" Edzard yelled as he hit one of the collapsed pillars that covered the ruin. The moment he fell to the ground, he tried to get back up as fast as he could.

Cyrelas seeing that Edzard was getting up decided to use a spell that was not very powerful, but very versatile. He raised him free hand and began to channel a large amount of magic and unleashed the spell once it was charged. From him hand came a large number of fireballs traveling at high speed.

Edzard saw the spells approaching him and knew he couldn't raise a ward to stop them. So he drew his other sword and took a deep breath.

"SU! GRAH!" shouted Edzard. The Thu'um was a more powerful version of the one he had used previously.

Cyrelas couldn't believe what he was seeing. In front of him, Edzard deflected all the balls that came to him using his swords. He watched as Edzard inched forward as he deflected and slashed at the fireballs that entered his field of vision.

"I really can't take you lightly." Cyrelas said as he stopped casting magic. Then he made a staff appear from a vortex of purple magic. The staff was as black as a starless, moonless night. It had four spearheads at the top end. And in the center of these was a ball of energy which had the appearance of a skull.

"That staff…" Edzard said in complete shock as he recognized that staff. "How do you have that staff ?!"

"How?" Cyrelas asked sarcastically as a cruel smile appeared on him face. "Easy. It's mine."

"Yours?" Edzard began to speak, but suddenly he yelled. "Don't screw me! That staff belongs to him…!"

"To Mannimarco." Cyrelas interrupted. "Tell me child. What do you know about spirit possession? "

"Spiritual possession?" Edzard asked as he began to open his eyes in shock. "That is a forbidden conjuration spell. A spell that allows a spirit to take possession of a body creating something very similar to a Lich."

"So is. Let me introduce myself correctly. The name of this body is Cyrelas Elsinius. " Cyrelas said with a smile. "But the name of the soul that governs the body ... is Mannimarco."

"That's impossible. You're supposed to be dead." Edzard said preparing to attack with everything. Mannimarco is not an enemy that he could underestimate and win.

Edzard lunged at Mannimarco. And once he was in front of him, he took a breath. "YOL! TOR! SHULL!"

The breath of fire went straight to Mannimarco. Who simply dodged it and then stopped Edzard's attack with his sword. And when Edzard was about to hit him with his other sword, he just jumped back. Smiling, Mannimarco began to channel magic to his staff. And once he hit the ground, several runes emerged that emitted a purple color. From these runes several skeletons appeared.

"Go my slaves! Bring me your blood!" Mannimarco yelled.

Edzard began to attack the skeletons around him. His swords infused with the power of his Thu'um were barely visible. As Edzard repelled the skeletons, Mannimarco began to gather enormous amounts of magic.

"VEN! GAAR! NOS!" Edzard shouted creating a large cyclone in the center of the room. This cyclone began to absorb the skeletons. Which were destroyed inside it.

"You really are someone to fear." Mannimarco said with a smile on his face. "But he is over. You have already lost."

When he finished speaking, a large magic rune covered the entire floor of the Crystal tower. Chains made of purple magic emerged from the center. These chains began to haunt Edzard. Who started running around the room trying to avoid them. Running quickly, he headed towards Mannimarco and with a big jump he tried to cut him in half; however, his attack did not achieve his objective. In front of him, the magic chains protected Mannimarco from any attack he launched at him.

Edzard began to see his blades lose the power of elemental fury. Without thinking twice, he began to channel magic through his weapons. Thanks to that, his weapons were now sharper; however, he was of no use. He quickly walked away and started throwing fireballs, ice spears, and lightning bolts at Mannimarco. But nothing seemed to work.

Mannimarco just smiled when he saw Edzard use all the spells he knew to try to break through to get to him. He enjoyed the despair that began to appear in the eyes of the pathetic son of Akatosh in front of him. How Mannimarco hated the dragon god. He had come so close to becoming a god. But the accursed Akatosh had interfered and he hadn't been able to complete the ritual properly. So every so often he had to revert to his mortal form. But the Hero of Kvatch had destroyed what was left of his mortal body. So he now he must have other bodies.

Edzard continued trying to overcome the defense of the spell used by Mannimarco, but as time passed he felt his strength wane.

"It seems the other effect of my spell is finally taking effect." Mannimarco said watching Edzard go slower and slower.

"Another ... effect?" Edzard asked in a tired voice.

"Yes. A magic and physical energy absorbing effect." Mannimarco began to approach Edzard. And raising his hand he imprisoned it with a great number of chains. To then proceed to stamp it against all the pillars and with the ground. Extending his sword forward, Mannimarco made the chains pull Edzard towards him. This caused Edzard to be stabbed in the chest by Mannimarco's sword.

"You are the key I need to fully become a god." Those were the last words Edzard heard before the darkness claimed him.

Edzard opened his eyes and saw a starry sky. Getting up he realized that he was not in the ruins of the crystal tower. In front of him lay a plain made entirely of sand. Not knowing where he was, he started walking north. After walking for a few moments, he caught a glimpse of a light in the distance. Picking up speed, he walked towards the light.

When he got there he realized it was a campfire. There were two people next to that fire. The first was a Breton in his fifties. He had black hair and a beard with some gray in them. He had blue eyes and a stern face. Furthermore, he wore steel plate armor with a blue robe underneath. The second was an old man. Who had golden hair and a beard the same shade as the sun. He wore a long white robe and over this robe was a golden scale armor. Above his head were two golden horns and he had part of his face with golden scales.

"Hello son." He greeted the second man as he stopped looking at the fire and then motioned for Edzard to sit down.

"Akatosh." Edzard said in amazement. Never in his life did he expect to see an Aedra.

"Where we are?" Edzard asked as he sat down next to Akatosh.

"We are in one of the furthest parts of my plane in Aetherius." Akatosh replied.

"Aetherius?"

"Yes. You came here after you got stabbed in the chest."

"So, I'm dead ..." Edzard said as he sighed.

"No, you are not dead." The other man next to Akatosh and Edzard answered.

Edzard looked at him intrigued. For some reason, this man seemed familiar to her. "Excuse me, but who are you?"

"Edzard, I would like to introduce you to King Emeric of Cumberland." Akatosh replied introducing the other person present.

"The high king of High Rock. And the leader of the Daggerfall Covenant." Edzard said astonished to see a king from the time of the war of the three banners.

"That's right boy." Emeric said in a serious voice.

"Bormah, what is King Emeric doing here?" Edzard asked.

"He wants to talk to you and if I'm honest, I do too. There are many things we want to tell you"

Edzard just didn't know what to say. He did not know how his father had brought him to Aetherius, that was not very easy to say. It is possible that Aunics souls or the souls of mortals travel to Aetherius for the afterlife, but taking a living being is not very easy. This made Edzard realize something.

"Wait, how am I here if I'm not dead?"

"That is easy to answer, I have brought here part of your soul along with your conscience. The rest of your soul is in Nirm, once this talk is over both fragments will come together again and you will be as if nothing had happened."

Edzard rolled his eyes. Akatosh said it like he was the most normal thing in the world.

"So, who starts?" Edzard asked.

Akatosh and Emeric looked at each other for a moment. Until Emeric decided to start.

"Tell me, Edzard, do you know why your fiancée can use Nirm's magic?"

"No." Edzard replied with blank eyes. He had tried to find an answer to that, but he had not found it. So he decided to give up and leave it as a mysterious mystery.

"That is easy to answer." Emeric said caught Edzard's attention. "She is my brother's great-great-granddaughter. That is to say, my niece-great-great-granddaughter."

If Edzard was drinking something now, he would have spit it out, but he just stood in shock with his jaw dropped.

"What do you mean your niece-great-great-granddaughter?" Edzard asked still not believing what he just heard.

"Yes. She is the daughter of my brother's great-grandson. That brat used shadow magic and ended up in another world."

"But if that is true. So, time moves at different speeds in both worlds. " Edzard said as he thought about the consequences of this discovery.

"That is not true." Akatosh spoke calling Edzard's attention.

"What are you talking about?"

"Well, it's simple. Time in both worlds moves at the same speed."

"So how did Asia's father end up showing up in the future?"

"Shadow magic is very volatile and unpredictable." Akatosh replied. "If one enters at a certain point in time, it is possible that when he leaves he will do so in another period of time."

"So that means..." Edzard commented; however, he was unable to continue.

"That if you use shadow magic it is very possible that you will end up in the future." Akatosh interrupted his youngest son.

Edzard just sat there doing nothing. He was stunned and hopelessness began to grow inside him, for this answer had fallen on him like a bucket of cold water.

"Nevertheless. It is possible to use it safely." Akatosh said.

Edzard perked up upon hearing that. "How?"

"If you use an already open space-time rift as the base of the portal." Akatosh replied. "Do you know which one I mean?"

Edzard's eyes widened in surprise and he began to smile. "The rift that is in the throat of the world."

"Bingo. We have a winner." Akatosh said with a smile.

Edzard began to smile and to plan in his mind how to make the trip. But he was pulled out of his thoughts when Emeric spoke.

"Sorry to interrupt. But we can focus on the reason for our presence here. "

"Certain. I had forgotten." Akatosh said before nodding to Emeric. "You do the honors."

"Very well. Listen Edzard, there's a reason I'm here. " Emeric said looking at Edzard. "The truth is that you are my descendant."

"Ehh!" yelled Edzard. "What are you talking about?"

"Edzard, you are my descendant by maternal line." Emeric answered surprising him. "That is to say. That your mother is my descendant. "

"It means that Asia and I are related." that was the conclusion Edzard had come to.

"Yes. Asia is your great aunt. Although calm, the distance of blood is such that their union cannot be considered incest."

"But how is it possible, the Cumberland dynasty is said to have become extinct in late 780 of the second era."

Emeric just sighed. "Edzard, Asia's father was not the only one who used shadow magic that day."

"Wait ... you're telling me what I think you want to say." Edzard said trying to understand what was happening.

"Yes, Edzard, your mother also came from the past."

"But why did he do that?"

"Your mother was engaged to Asia's father. But because the two of them had grown up together, they considered each other as brothers. " Emeric replied.

"Did they use such dangerous magic just to escape an arranged marriage?"

"Yes, but they both also wanted to escape the burdens of the nobility. That's why Asia's father and your mother decided to use shadow magic to flee from Nirm. But only Marcoryan traveled to another world, your mother Selene traveled to the future."

Edzard thought for a moment what he just heard. He even he couldn't believe that his mother and who would be his father-in-law were family. In fact, knowing that Asia was his family still stunned him.

"So, are you telling me that Asia and I are noble?"

"In a certain part yes, they have noble blood, but they do not have the titles. Asia would be by birthright a pretender for the Duchy of Alcaire."

"And me?"

"You would be a pretender for the Wyrest throne."

Edzard simply stared at his newly discovered ancestor until he began to laugh.

"Hahaha!" Edzard's laugh was uproarious.

Emeric and Akatosh looked at Edzard without understanding why he was laughing.

"Son, why are you laughing?" Akatosh asked.

"This is very ironic. First some try to put the imperial crown on me, but my commoner origin avoids it. However, I now discover that I am not a commoner." Edzard replied once he calmed down. "But now that I know this, I will only tell it to the people I would trust with my life. If this is known, it could cause a civil war in the empire. And that's the last thing I want now."

Emeric looked at Edzard and smiled. Despite being so young, his descendant was someone who thought a lot about the consequences of his actions.

"Lord Akatosh, you may speak now." Emeric said.

"Sure, you don't want to ask him anything else or tell him other things?"

"No. I came to measure my descendant." Emeric answered looking at Edzard. "And if I'm honest, he has surprised me."

Edzard felt great pride hearing that.

"Well. Edzard, tell me, do you know how the Dovahkiin are born? " Akatosh asked.

Edzard shook his head. That was a very controversial topic and one that caused a lot of confusion.

"The Dovahkiin are born when I implant the soul of a dragon in a baby, this together with my blood. But I guess you already know that right."

Edzard nodded, that was the most accepted. "Yes, I know. But, what does that have to do with me?"

Akatosh sighed and looked up at the sky before seeing Edzard again. "Edzard, you were not meant to be a Dovahkiin."

That answer left Edzard chilled.

"What do you mean?" Edzard asked.

"The person who was to be the Dovahkiin would be nearly thirty today, but sadly, he died when he was fourteen."

Edzard was surprised, but his mind began to spin at a mile an hour. Until he finally understood what was going on. With the death of the candidate who was to be the last Dovahkiin, the world was doomed to fall thanks to Alduin.

"Then why am I the Dovahkiin?" Edzard asked, doubt now gnawing at him.

"When that candidate died, I started looking for someone who could replace him, but I couldn't find anyone. So, when I was about to despair, I heard the prayers of a woman who asked that her unborn child not die." Akatosh replied. "Edzard, have you ever wondered why you didn't have siblings?"

Edzard opened his eyes. It is true that he had never thought about it, because he was very young at that time, but now ...

"Ed, when you were in your mother's womb you almost died because your body could not support your own power. And when you were born, your magic power was so great that it rendered your mother sterile."

Edzard was amazed by that, he also began to feel sad and blame himself for it. But he was amazed when he felt someone put a hand on his shoulder. Turning his head he could see Akatosh and Emeric, both of them told him that he shouldn't blame himself for anything. Akatosh even showed him how his mother had cried with emotion when he was born and how she hadn't cared about not being able to have more children.

After that moment, Akatosh decided to continue the conversation. He told her why he had been chosen.

"So you chose me to save me?"

"Yes and no."

Edzard raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"All I did was buy you time to live. If things had followed a natural course, you would have died in your twenties."

'Then I won't live to see my descendants form their own families.' Edzard thought sadly.

"However, there is good news."

Akatosh's words caught Edzard's attention. "What do you mean?"

"When you absorbed that small part of Alduin's soul, you started a new path for yourself. This path will allow you to live. "

Edzard sighed and smiled. Apparently, he wouldn't have to start writing his will anymore.

"Very well. Edzard tell me everything you know about Mannimarco." Akatosh said drawing the attention of his son.

"I know what everyone knows." Edzard said with a hand on his chin.

"I see. It seems that I will have to tell you a lot of things." Akatosh said.

Then, Akatosh started telling everything about Mannimarco. About how he had almost reached apotheosis when the warp of the west happened. As Mannimarco had used an artifact of great power; however, his ascension to divinity was thwarted by Akatosh himself. After all, the warp of the west is a Dragon Break and Akatosh was in charge of closing them.

So let me understand. You closed the Dragon Break in Mannimarco's face thus preventing his full ascension." Edzard commented with a smile.

"Yes. That is why he has captured you." Akatosh said.

Edzard initially didn't understand, until he finally understood what was going on. "He wants to use me to create a new Dragon Break."

"Yes, he wants to use you as a catalyst to complete his ascension as a god."

"I see, but why does he need me exactly? Is it because I am a Dovahkiin?"

"No. Okay, yes. The truth is that it is more complicated than that." Akatosh said. "You are a hero of the ancient scrolls. Your potential is overwhelming and if we add your abnormal reserves of magic. "

"You are a walking power bomb." Emeric spoke seriously. "But not only you are a hero. You are also descended from one."

"Hey?" Edzard said without understanding. "What do you mean?"

"Ed. One of your father's ancestors is the Hero of Kvatch." Akatosh replied.

"That's not what I expected." Edzard said. "But what does that have to do with me?"

"Too easy. Descendants of heroes are more powerful than average mortals." Akatosh said. "Edzard, you are a hero and you are also descended from another hero."

"Therefore, your power and your potential is enormous." Emeric finished saying.

"So tell me something Edzard." Emeric spoke seeing Edzard. "You know what will happen if Mannimarco is not arrested right?"

Edzard nodded. He knew it. If he didn't stop Mannimarco it was very possible that he would fulfill his ambition; However, while he was thinking about this, he realized something.

"Of course. That is why the Thalmor were so sure of his victory." what Edzard had said had caught the attention of everyone present.

"What do you mean?" Emeric asked.

"Well, it's easy. Imagine they create a Dragon Break and totally rewrite the war." Edzard said.

Both Akatosh and Emeric understood what Edzard was saying. If Mannimarco created the dragon break, the Empire's victories would have been in vain.

"You know what you have to do." Emeric spoke in a harsh voice. He was no longer speaking as Edzard's ancestor, but as The High King of High Rock.

"Yes. But I don't know how to proceed."

"Why do you say that?" Emeric asked.

"I am bound in magic chains and there is a rune that constantly drains my magic and physical energy." Edzard said. "Therefore, it is not possible for me to attack. Not to mention that I have a sword stuck in my chest."

"You may be able to fight if you use that." Akatosh commented, thus drawing Edzard's attention.

Edzard was thoughtful. He knew what Akatosh was referring to. But using that would come at a great cost. Using the one- and two-word versions of that Thu'um had put him in excruciating pain. So, if he used all three words, it was very likely that he would be knocked unconscious for who knows how long.

"Edzard, if you use the three words of that Thu'um you will gain enough power to free yourself." Akatosh insisted.

"I know, but I'm not sure I want to pay the cost. I don't know how long I'll be unconscious once the effect wears off. "

"I know, son. But if you want to protect everything that matters to you, you must use it. "

Edzard simply sighed and then slapped himself with both hands. There was no time for doubts. He had a duty to fulfill. So, he got up from where he was sitting and looked at his father and his ancestor before smiling.

Akatosh and Emeric smiled when they saw the determination in Edzard's eyes.

"So, are you ready to go back?" Akatosh asked.

"Yes, send me back to Nirm."

Akatosh nodded before raising his hand and charging a spell. When he cast the spell, Edzard felt his vision turn black.

Mannimarco had been very busy while Edzard talked to Akatosh. He had drained some blood from Edzard's body and then magically attached it to two necklaces.

These necklaces had specially designed soul gems to function as fake amulets of kings. That is, these amulets would allow him to create a new Dragon Breaker. Sighing, he summoned a bird-shaped familiar and gave him a necklace. The bird took flight and headed west.

He was amazed, the amount of magic he had stolen from Edzard was so vast that it was as if he had drained more than a hundred Altmer.

"You really are an extraordinary being. So much magic in a mortal body." Mannimarco said as he withdrew his sword from Edzard's body. He had left the sword there so that the blood he needed would drip from it.

The moment the sword came out of Edzard's chest, a large amount of blood began to flow from the wound.

'This is goodbye, son of Akatosh. He dies knowing that in the end you were useful for my goal.'

Mannimarco was about to leave the place, but stopped when he saw a golden light healing Edzard's wounds.

'I see, so you have the ability «evade death»' Mannimarco thought.

The ability «evade death» is a very difficult ability to achieve. This ability allows the user, as his name says, to evade death. Unfortunately this ability has a very high cooldown, this is because it passively stores part of the user's magic and when it is activated it ends up using all the accumulated magic, this causes it to take a long time to be charged again. This ability is activated passively, so it only activates when the user's heart stops for a few moments.

When Edzard opened his eyes again he saw that he was still in the Crystal Tower and in front of him was Mannimarco. So he started to pull on the chains that held him

"Wow, you are resistant. A normal person would already be dead." Mannimarco said with a cruel smile on his face when he saw Edzard wake up. "But it's useless for you to keep fighting. I have obtained much of your power. You have already lost!"

"What have you stolen most of my power? What have I already lost?" Edzard said in a whisper as he began to look up and prepare for what he was about to do. "And who decided?"

"MUL! QAH! DIIV!" Edzard's shouted made the whole room shake. And with a great deal of brute force he ended up breaking the chains that imprisoned him. "I ... am ... the one who decides."

When Edzard said that, he created a huge explosion with what little magic he still had. This magical blast completely engulfed the room, destroying the rune on the floor. Mannimarco used a barrier to protect himself and when the smoke cleared he saw something that chilled his blood.

There in front of him was Edzard, but he looked different. He still had his armor on, but his eyes had changed, were now golden and emitted a star-like glow. His face had black scales and he had two horns on his head. But most shocking was the pair of black draconian wings on his back.

"So, Mannimarco. We started. " Edzard said in a cold voice.

"Don't get arrogant just to free yourself from the chains!" Mannimarco yelled as he threw a hundred ice spears.

Edzard saw the ice spears arrive and dodged them as he lunged at Mannimarco. Who was caught off guard when he saw Edzard appear in front of him.

"GAAN! LAH! HAAS!" Edzard shouted creating a wave of purple power that hit Mannimarco squarely.

Mannimarco felt his power diminish when he was reached by Edzard's Thu'um. "What is this?"

"This is the power of my Thu'um." Edzard answered and then gave Mannimarco a powerful kick, sending him flying towards one of the pillars there.

Edzard walked to where Mannimarco had fallen. When he was in front of the body, several tendrils of purple magic began to emerge from the ground. These tendrils rushed at him. So he quickly jumped up to avoid being impaled by them. Seeing that the tendrils were following him, Edzard flapped his wings and began to fly to avoid them.

Edzard dodged the spell for a few minutes, until he realized that they were no longer pursuing him. Stopping, he looked around him and there he could see that he was enclosed by various runes floating above him.

"It's over, Dovahkiin! You won't be able to withstand an attack like this!" Mannimarco yelled as he made the runes unleash a veritable barrage of spells.

FEIM! ZII!" shouted Edzard and thus became ethereal. The spells began to pass through him as if he was not there.

"WILD! NAH!" shouted Edzard.

The Thu'um allowed Edzard to appear in front of Mannimarco. Taking advantage of this, he hit him and sent him flying, but Edzard didn't stop there, he flew in the direction of where he had sent him and began to hit him as he sent him skyward. Once they were about thirty meters in the air, Edzard gave Mannimarco an ax kick, sending him crashing to the ground.

Mannimarco was slowly getting up. He had been able to survive thanks to the enchanted armor that he had. And when he looked up and saw Edzard flying like nothing, a great anger began to seize him.

'That damn son of Akatosh.' he thought as he clenched his teeth. "Damn son of Akatosh!"

After yelling, Mannimarco discarded his staff and summoned an ax.

Edzard saw that ax and his nose caught a peculiar smell.

'That smell is similar to ...' Edzard thought. His eyes widened when he recognized that scent. That was the smell of the enchantment that the ax possessed that had nearly killed him. Then, Edzard finally understood that the one who had armed those vampires with a weapon specially designed to kill him had been Mannimarco.

"You ... Damn ... elf ... shit." Edzard whispered through clenched teeth.

Mannimarco saw that Edzard had recognized the weapon he had and smiled. "Oh, you have noticed. Yes, it is as you think it was me who armed the orc with the weapon to kill you. And you know what else I've done ..."

Anger began to build in Edzard with each word Mannimarco said.

"I sent an army to kill your damn family." After saying that, Mannimarco gathered much of the power that he had stolen from Edzard and strengthened his body to his limits. And using levitation magic, he launched himself at great speeds at Edzard.

When Edzard heard that, he finished getting angry. So he used telekinesis to make his swords return to his hands. When he had his weapons, he grunted and lunged to intercept Mannimarco. Once they were face to face they began to exchange blows. Sword met sword and greatsword met ax. And so they began a deadly dance across the skies. This dance continued for a while, as they both neutralized each other; however, Edzard had begun to take the lead.

"GAAN! LAH! HAAS!" Edzard shouted, thus regaining more of his power.

Mannimarco began to feel the pressure to fight someone who could use magic without needing magicka.

"SU! GRAH! DUN!" Edzard shouted, making his weapons go faster.

Taking advantage of its improved attack speed. Edzard began to pressure Mannimarco and forced him to be on the defensive. And at one point he managed to land a great blow with his sword on the Altmer's chest; however, the meteoric iron armor held up very well and did not yield to the blow. But Mannimarco did not come out unscathed, as he felt his ribs cracked.

"Aghh!" Mannimarco yelled as he spat blood. A few moments later, a purple light enveloped him and healed his wounds.

"You will never be able to break through my armor!" Mannimarco yelled, trusting that his armor could handle everything Edzard threw at him. And smiling, he began to summon an army of the undead.

Edzard looked at the skeletons that had appeared. These were armed with bows and arrows. He quickly took a deep breath and screamed. "DIIL! QOTH! ZAAM!"

And after shouting, various skeletons armed with swords began to appear from the ground. They pounced on the skeletons Mannimarco summoned. After seeing this, Edzard pounced on Mannimarco.

Mannimarco was frustrated. He had come so close to fulfilling his goal. But like the first time, he was stopped by someone with Akatosh blood. The first time he tried, Akatosh himself stopped him and now his damned son was stopping him. Dropping his weapons, he quickly flew over to Edzard and prepared to cast a great spell using the false amulet of kings that he had created. He concentrated most of the power he had stolen from Edzard into the amulet and began the spell.

When Edzard saw the spell, he was surprised to see how much magic Mannimarco was using. While the amount of magic Mannimarco had stolen from him was absurdly large, he did not reach the amount emitted by the artifact.

Edzard's stolen power resonated alongside the souls of the Altmer that had been harvested for the creation of the amulet and with all the souls of the Imperial soldiers who fought in the first great war that served as fuel to refine the amulet. All that power began to come together and began to tear at Nirm's own fabric of reality.

Edzard put a hand to his head. He didn't know what was going on, but he felt weird. It was as if he didn't know what time of day he was. It was as if time itself ceased to exist.

Fortunately, Edzard came out of that daze when he heard the sound of a bell.

"What's wrong?" Edzard thought when he felt the wind drop.

His eyes widened when he heard the sound of metal screeching and unwinding.

Edzard tried to speak, but couldn't. Since from the sky several chains as black as the sky without moon and stars descended. These chains smashed onto the floor of the crystal tower.

'Those ... those ... are ...' thought Edzard worriedly, since he had recognized those chains. Those chains appeared in the history books in the library of the College of Hibernalia. Those chains were part of a dark anchor. An artifact that had not been seen since the War of the Three Banners in the second era.

"Mannimarco! Damn fucking elf! " Edzard yelled angrily. Since, in the sky, at the end of the chains there was a portal.

That portal showed a barren land.

"Hahaha!" Mannimarco laughed madly. "You have lost, Dovahkiin! Even you cannot face an army of Daedras alone! "

When he finished shouting, hundreds of daedras began to appear on the ground.

Edzard gritted his teeth. He had to think fast, otherwise it was very possible that legions of Daedras would start to appear, wreaking havoc throughout Nirm. Not only that, with each passing moment, he felt his connection with the currents of time diminishing. That only meant that a new Dragon Break was beginning to form.

'Dammit. Come on Edzard, think. How the fuck do I destroy so many daedras? It's not like I can make meteorites rain.'

The moment he finished thinking that, Edzard smiled.

Edzard's smile had made Mannimarco wonder what he was planning.

Edzard saw the daedras and taking a breath, he shouted. "STRUN! BAH! GOLZ!"

The clear sky that had not been covered by the dark anchor clouded over. There was no thunder, but out of nowhere fireballs the size of a mammoth began to fall. These fireballs were meteorites, which began to fall incessantly on the Daedra and on the dark anchor. In this way the daedras began to die and the anchor began to show physical damage.

"No! This shouldn't be happening!" Mannimarco yelled as he saw how the Daedra army was decimated as he appeared.

"It's over Mannimarco! You already lost!" Edzard yelled, sheathing his greatsword.

Edzard knew he must destroy the dark anchor, and he must do it quickly. So he made up his mind to use a Thu'um that he had created earlier. He took his sword in both hands and took a deep breath.

"YOL! ZAHKRII! VEY! " Edzard shouted, as a great deal of light was created on his sword.

The light caused the dragon bone blade to start to turn as red as the lava from the red mountain. Edzard felt a great deal of power surging from his sword. So, he raised his weapon and with a horizontal slash released the power of the sword. A great blast of fire erupted from the blade and headed toward Mannimarco, splitting both the Altmer and the chains that linked the dark anchor to Nirm.

The portal began to dissipate as it lost its anchor to the mortal world and whoever was holding it open.

"Was over." Edzard whispered as he landed on what was left of the crystal tower. And looking at his hand he could see what was left of his sword, apparently the power of this Thu'um had shattered it. Just like what was left of the glass tower, since, thanks to the dark anchor and the meteor shower, there was nothing left but craters.

Walking slowly, he approached what appeared to be a secret door and kicked it open. Once he was inside, he was surprised when he saw various pieces of different minerals, plus there were a few light blue spheres. There were also a large number of gold and silver bars, as well as mountains of jewels.

'Meteoric Iron, Aetherium, Adamantium and Mithril. It seems I found a great treasure.' Edzard thought amusedly as he took all the objects and put them in a bag. When he left the room he met the upper half of Mannimarco. Crouching down, he took what he could of the Altmer's armor and put it away as well. Sighing, he looked up at the sky.

"OD! AH! VIING! " Edzard shouted and waited for the dragon to arrive.

"Dovahkiin." Odahviing said when he arrived, heaving a sigh when he saw Edzard's state. "You look awful. I have seen several of your Imperial comrades rushing here."

"I know." Edzard replied with a tired smile. "Can you do me a favor?"

Odahviing nodded.

Edzard grinned at the dragon. "You could take this bag to Volkihar Castle."

"It's okay. But what about you? " Odahviing asked concerned for his brother.

"Don't worry, I just need to rest."

Odahviing nodded and took flight. When Edzard saw him lose himself in the clouds, he sighed and felt his transformation end.

"Aghhhh ...!" screamed Edzard, for the pain was excruciating. He felt his bones break and heal at the same time, he also felt his body temperature starting to rise.

He knew it was very likely that he would be unconscious for several days, but what he did not know was that the pain was caused because his body began to mutate to better adapt to his new power. He with great difficulty he sat up and leaned on one of the rubbles, and waited. When unconsciousness claimed him, he was able to see Hadvar and several legionaries arrive.

'Guys, it seems like it's all up to you.' Edzard thought as he let the darkness claim him.

And so this battle ended. The Battle of the Arch-mages as it would be known in the future. The battle that ended paving the way for the final battle against the Thalmor and the battle that prevented a new dark anchor from opening on Tamriel. A battle that had planted the seed of a future conflict between worlds. And that very day the penultimate page of Edzard's exploits in Tamriel had been written. Or maybe not….

Author's note:

To those who have made it this far, Thanks for reading. Because being honest, I don't know how to write much in English and I'm relying on Google translators and the dictionaries that come with office 2019.In this chapter part of the lineage that Edzard comes from has been shown. I had originally planned for him to meet his parents again, but decided to change that. Also here I decided to give the identity of the father of Asia, I also want to say that Asia can already be considered an OCC. Since her personality will change slightly thanks to the time she has spent in Tamriel.

holosagewolf32: In part yes. Aurbis and the world of DxD will unite thanks to three events, in this chapter one happens, in the next the second, these two are events caused by the Thalmor. The third is indirectly provoked by the Dovahkiin. And by uniting I mean that it will be possible to travel between the two worlds, not that the earth will become an Aurbis plane.

Well, I apologize for any misspelling. Do not forget to leave a review if you liked the chapter or if there is something that needs to be improved. With nothing more to say, until the next chapter.
