Chapter 4:

Rin did not wake up for several days, Sesshomaru guarded her like she'd disappear again if left too far from him. Inuyasha and Sesshomaru fell into a silent pattern. While Sesshomaru rested on the roof, Inuyasha would be by her side and vice versa. Neither strayed too far from her.

After Inuyasha forced Sesshomaru to tell him a bit of how he found her, he moved Kagome and their daughter to Songo's home for the time being. Although Rin was Rin, she had a dangerous air to her and when she woke up…no one knew what they were going to get.

Kagome had yelled at him when he did this and refused to explain why she had to leave Rin.

He insisted on keeping her return a secret for now until more was known.

Inuyasha only said, "I need you to trust me. When I know you will know."

That ended their argument and Kagome reluctantly agreed, she kept her distance but remained around. Songo's home wasn't far from her own. Kaede, Songo, Miroku, and even Kohaku knew something had happened but the three who know (Inuyasha and Kagome being the only approachable) kept their silence.

Sesshomaru sat on the top of the house, his long leg dangled over the edge, and another bent to his chest. The villagers stayed clear of the area around Inuyasha's home, which was his main reason for doing this with the instance of Inuyasha.

"They know me and feel comfortable enough to speak to me." He had said, "But you couldn't pay them enough to approach with you perched up there."

He continued, "The last thing Rin needs is to be ambushed by many people after being gone so long."

Sesshomaru said nothing but made sure he was seen during the day and stayed with Rin at night.

On day seven, Sesshomaru heard a gasp and within two seconds Inuyasha was thrown through the door of his home with such force he crashed into another home. That home belonging to Songo and Miroku.

"Inuyasha!" Sesshomaru heard Kagome yell.

Sesshomaru immediately jumped down to enter the house but before he could a flash of gray hair came barreling towards him with inhuman speed. Sesshomaru quickly grabbed her waist, the force causing him to spin her before bringing Rin back to his chest as his back hit the ground.

It didn't faze him as he went to subdue the woman scrambling on top of him. Sesshomaru grabbed her wrists and flipped them over, pinning her to the ground. This did not faze her as she continued to fight, almost in a daze. Throwing her head back and forth. Sesshomaru admired her strength, it was easier to pin Inuyasha and he was much stronger than most demons.

He called her name, but she still struggled as if she couldn't hear him.

Finally, he roared viciously baring his fangs.

"Rin STOP!" his demonic voice snapped her out of whatever headspace she was in.

The effect was instantaneous. She froze immediately, looking up into Sesshomaru's bright red eyes as he stared at her for a few moments. Noticing this he released her wrists, lifted his body off of her until he was on his knees to give her some space to acclimate to where she was. However, he stayed very close to her in case she tried to run again.

Rin's brown eyes stare up at him with confusion and then relief. As fast as she ran out of Inuyasha home, she launched herself at him. The force of it was enough to knock him off his knees and onto his haunches, while Rin had wrapped her legs around his waist. She buried her face into his neck, her pale arms and legs wrapping around him in a death grip. Her silky gray hair rubbed softly against his jaw.

Sesshomaru's eyes widened in shock at her display of brute strength and of her affection, he left her tears on his neck he hesitantly wrapped one arm around her.

Seeing as the attack was over, he turned his head and noticed they had a group around them, but they stayed at a safe distance. He made eye contact with a shocked Inuyasha who had blood running down his nose that blended into red robes. Inuyasha's mouth hung open slightly as he stared at the weeping, half dressed woman coiled around Sesshomaru.

When he looked at Sesshomaru he seemed to snap out of his shock, turning around to gesture to his friends to go back inside and he turned back to Sesshomaru. Naturally the villagers scattered as soon as this 'brawl' occurred.

Sesshomaru noticed Inuyasha's wife tried to run towards them yelling, "Rin!"

On hearing Kagome, Rin tightened her hold on Sesshomaru, refusing to let go of him.

Inuyasha caught her before she could reach them and began pulling her back inside, but she never stopped looking at Sesshomaru and Rin.

"He will let us know when it's okay." Sesshomaru heard Inuyasha say.

"Bu-But-" she stuttered, trying to push out of his hold.

Inuyasha grabbed her shoulders and looked the most serious Sesshomaru had ever seen him before saying sternly, "She threw me easily through a house and even brought Sesshomaru to the ground which isn't easy. Right now, she doesn't need us, she needs him. He seems to be the only one strong enough to hold her down. He will let us know when it's okay."

Sesshomaru oddly found himself…grateful.

Once they had cleared out, he tilted his head towards Rin. Seeing as she wasn't going to let go, he used his other arm to get to his feet and headed onwards to Inuyasha house.

Sesshomaru sat down with the woman still held tightly in his arms. Rin was breathing heavily the entire time and after a few hours she appeared to calm down.

Sesshomaru loosened his hold on her and she did as well but only enough to allow them to speak face to face. Sesshomaru didn't like to be touched but for her he allowed it, and found he didn't mind it one bit. It didn't bother him that she remained in his lap, he was only grateful that she was here.

Her arms wrapped around herself, and kept her head down low, never looking up at him. She appeared very different from the woman he saw killing those three figures but he knew she had. So many questions played in his mind, but he kept silent.

He didn't know how to start that conversation any more than he knew who those people were and where she'd been the past several years.

So, he just sat in silence with her, he let her head fall against his chest and her arms wrapped around his waist. He let her cry as he held her because that was all he could give her at the moment.

In the end she fell asleep…this time resting on his chest, and he leaned back, stretching out his legs allowing her to sleep on him. He did wrap his Mimoko around her tightly because he had let her do a lot today but if she had tried to run again, he would not let her.

Sesshomaru listened to her breathing and wondered about the strange but familiar woman in his arms. He had far more questions than answers, so he waited for the only one who could answer them. Out of what he did not know, he did know this. Whatever had happened, his father was right, she was not the same and she did come back.
