No-One But You (The Star Child's Eclipse)
Chapter 34: Strange Talk (Part 4)
…
Tony Stark was surprised to hear Victor Von Doom respond to his question as he did.
He half-expected the man to brush the question off entirely, but he didn't.
Well, the man's focus was definitely pointed more in Wade Wilson's direction whenever he spoke, so that explained everything...
…
"Yeah, we've seen the poetic love notes and the lengthy words of wisdom, Doom, and we all know that your info-stream with Ezekiel exists… BUT, that doesn't interest this Surveillant Council. We're only interested in knowing about two more things… if I may?"
…
Tony felt like it was time to wrap up Victor Von Doom's Q and A portion of the meeting, then the ruler of Latveria could go run off and do… whatever.
Doom seemed a little more preoccupied with the gesture that was done to Ezekiel Stane.
The infamous Deadpool somehow managed to "hug" his leg over the lower half of Ezekiel's body, and that bizarre move he made didn't go unnoticed.
Ezekiel let out a quiet laugh when it happened, and he thought about responding with a gesture of his own…
He… the Jackal wanted to hug his leg, and curl up against it, or something…
The thoughts Ezekiel had about Wade's leg were beyond bizarre, so he settled on placing his hands just above Wade's left knee.
He touched the intruding leg and simply let his hands rest there, oh, and Ezekiel stopped paying attention to what that SHARK actually said to Victor Von Doom.
Wade's territorial gesture was distracting for everyone, even Doom, so it took the man more than a moment to respond and speak.
…
"Get on with it Stark. Some of us haven't got all day. What do you want to know?"
…
"We want you to explain why your Doom Bots keep popping up around Sofia Strange, and we want you to explain the information exchange that you have in relation to a man known as Wenwu."
…
That's all. Tony even gave Doom a kind smile as he spoke, then he dropped that smile like a rock once he made his point.
A love-hate relationship had always been brewing between Victor Von Doom and the members of the Surveillant Council, as you know.
…
Wenwu? Doom had to ponder that part of the question.
In his opinion, the Surveillant Council was probing around in a very odd direction, because Doom's dealings with a man named Wenwu could only be described as sporadic.
He glanced in Ezekiel's direction as he processed that information, then the ruler of Latveria decided to delegate his answer toward an easier part of the question.
Doom's focus went toward the smallest person in the room, and he gave her a small smile that she was unable to see.
…
"I'm keeping an eye on Sofia Strange for research purposes, and for her safety."
…
Oh? Someone's attention suddenly peaked.
Donna Strange somehow managed to sit up even taller, because the notion of Doom tailing her niece for "research purposes" was honestly laughable.
And, for her safety? Get the fuck out dude…
…
"On behalf of the Strange family… we deeply appreciate the sentiment, but we humbly ask you to cease and desist."
…
No thanks, and Donna wasn't interested in entertaining the conversation any further.
No one in the Strange crew even asked Victor Von Doom to do anything of the sort, and the gesture definitely wasn't welcomed at all…
The newest embodiment of the "Ancient One" verbally issued the man a CEASE AND DESIST order for all to hear, and Doom's reaction shortly followed.
…
"You might want to rethink that, Miss Donna Strange, because Wanda Maximoff is the one who's really been tailing your niece. She feels slighted since Battleworld… and we all should know that she hasn't been in her right mind for a long time."
…
Which is why Victor Von Doom was "tailing" the little one. He had no interest in any of the others, or any interest in snooping around any of their pathetic lives.
The "Scarlet Witch" directly challenged Clea Strange before the incident at Battleworld took place, if you recall, and Doom had been consulting with her, and keeping an eye on Sofia just in case…
…
"And, you have first-hand knowledge of this? From the Scarlet Witch herself?"
…
"I do. Yes…"
…
Oh? Donna Strange had to jump in on the subject, and she absolutely had to ask Doom if he was getting his information from Wanda Maximoff directly.
That only brought out even more questions about the subject at hand, because where was Doom's allegiance under that context?
Was he protecting Sofia, or protecting the Scarlet Witch? What was his involvement with her? And why hadn't Doom brought any of this up to Stephen?
Those questions emerged within Donna's mind immediately.
The young woman was inwardly freaking out, but she gave Sofia a comforting smile instead.
