No-One But You (The Star Child's Eclipse)

Chapter 35: Strange Talk (Part 5)

"Is she your girlfriend, Mr. Doom?"

Sofia Strange's youthful voice cut through the thick silence that started dominating the room.

She developed a habit of calling everyone "Mr." because of her father…

The "former" Sorcerer Supreme was teaching her a thing or two about showing respect and the purpose of titles.

Her adorable question was met with another moment of silence, but a number of people were inwardly thanking her for the innocent question.

Knowing Victor Von Doom's connection to the Scarlet Witch was extremely important, because thoughts of a war began to spread amongst the adults in the room.

The term "girlfriend" wasn't necessarily new to Sofia either. She liked the concept behind what it meant, and hearing about the Scarlet Witch immediately sparked the question.

That little "Star Child" waited patiently for the response to emerge, and Doom could see her tiny feet as she kicked them around beneath the table.

What an interesting moment, and what an interesting little girl.

Her daily rounds around the cosmos amused Doom like you wouldn't believe, and the innocent question she asked was met with a charmed smile.

No one could see it tho, and when he spoke the vibe came across as dark, and moody…

"That's a very complicated question, little one, and I'm unable to give you a proper answer."

Oh. Sofia seemed a bit disappointed with that response, and she looked up toward her Aunt Donna to see if she had anything more to add.

Her aunt was a "girlfriend" right now too, for a kind person named James.

Sofia could tell that it was something special, and she couldn't help but wonder if Victor Von Doom had something similar with the Scarlet Witch.

"Her soul smelled like dirt, when I saw her… at Battleworld."

Oh? Say what?

Victor Von Doom withheld his reaction, but the man listened to the little one's observation with a great deal of interest.

Everyone in the room heard Sofia deliver that interesting tidbit of information, but who was going to be the first to comment?

Steve Rogers was mentally planning for a possible war to head their way, because what he was hearing didn't sound good at all.

Tony Stark was on the same page as Steve.

In fact, he mentally checked out of the meeting a while ago, and he started digging around for Some information on a super small screen.

Charles Xavier and Nick Fury were shifting all of their focus on Doom, Donna, and Sofia…because their questions seemed to initiate an interesting conversation.

The other two people were simply observing. Wade Wilson and Ezekiel Stane seemed way more preoccupied with laying all over one another.

I MEAN, could they sit any closer? Honestly? Get a room. Deadpool was practically sitting on the Jackal's lap…

They also couldn't care any less about the Scarlet Witch, Doom's drama, or anything relating to what they were saying.

Well, that's not true. Deadpool DID hear everything that Starknado said… about someone's poetic love notes?

Uhhh.. he said… poetic love notes? Did you guys catch that shit?

What the fuck did that mean? So, the infamous mercenary gave his cute lil fiancé a friggen look.

He was wearing his mask tho, and Ezekiel refused to give what Tony Stark said the time of day.

….

His mind was centering more on the question about Wenwu. Cuz, why the FUCK was that SHARK asking Doom questions about him?

The leader of the Ten Rings was on Ezekiel's shit list, and he had a mission all mapped out for his S.H.A.D.O.W. troops to infiltrate one of their strongholds in Beijing.

So, any fucking question in relation to Wenwu should have been directed to him… not Victor Von Doom, so what the fuck?

Oh wow.

Ezekiel noticed that his language was beginning to sound a lot like Wade, so the baby Jackal inwardly LOL'D…

"That's a very clever observation, little one, because her soul is technically encased in dirt… somewhere off in a place called Wundagore. A lot has happened with the Scarlet Witch… and these two are actually to blame.."

Victor Von Doom's gloomy voice finally offered up something with some actual substance. He pointed at two people specifically too, and Tony and Ezekiel both responded with a look of surprise.

He pointed at the two of them for a very specific reason, because once upon a time they actually worked together, combined their talent and souls… and they constructed something called "Vision."

"Your Vision has been very busy out there in the cosmos. Have you two lost sight of what you've collectively created?"

Doom suddenly felt like he was operating on an entirely different wavelength, because Ezekiel Stane and Tony Stark only seemed to be focused on what was happening right in front of their face.

In Victor Von Doom's expert opinion on the two of them, they both were very much stuck "in their flesh"… and they both failed to see the bigger picture.
