Hi, Remus973 here! It has been a long time since my last chapter, but here's one right now. At least half a chapter. This is basically a prologue to my eighth chapter. A teaser to the next one. Enjoy.

Phase 07.5 - Murder!: Plots in the Dark

(Nighttime in Oshima)

An average utility worker was in the underground section where the city's pipes were located. He was there as part of his daily rounds to see if everything was functioning correctly. Everything checked out until he saw something unusual. Plant vines growing underground.

"What is this? Plants, here?"

The worker picked one of the plants.

"Some kind of fruit?"

Within the shadows, a quiet growl was made. Something looked at what the worker was holding, and it looked delicious. The worker felt the same way.

"This fruit...looks...tasty..."

A loud clang was made that made the worker startled.

"WHA! Who's there?!"

The worker was feeling very nervous, wondering who else (or what else) was there beside him.

"I... I won't tolerate this! Who's there?! SHOW YOURSELF!"

What the worker heard next was a sort of beastly snarl that sounded vicious. The worker was feeling chills up his spine. He stepped backwards for a moment until he decided to run. He ran as fast as he could. Loud wing flaps were heard behind him. He looked back to see what was behind him. But it was dark and he could not see properly. The worker had his flashlight with him, and lit the way ahead of him. He saw a metal door and ran towards it. A loud screech was made and this made the worker feel an intense amount of fear in his body. He made it to the door.

"Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on. Open already!"

The worker turned the wheel on the metal door as fast as he could. The panic in his system help seed things up, but his fingers kept on slipping on the wheel. Them, another loud snarl was heard. Someting crept closer to the worker. the metal door was finally open, and the worker finally got to the other side. However, as soon as he got to the other side of the door, what was chasing him made it to the door as well. The worker pushing to close the door. What was chasing him was pushing to open it. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth did the two went. Whatever what was chasing the worker has inhuman strength. What matched the strength was the continuous current of adrenaline the worker was feeling. Until the door finally closed. The worker finally felt relief, and swiftly sat down on the concrete floor.

"Oh God! I'm alive."

He swiped the sweat off his brow and breathed easy. He dug into his pockets and took out the fruit that he had in his hands before his near-death experience.

"Well now that little scare is over, time to see what you taste like."

Then the loud screech was heard again. Before the worker could react, large vampiric teeth dug into his neck. He was killed instantly. In the worker's mind, the last thing he remembered was a monstrous bat.

(GHQ Headquarters)

Keido was in his office working on some paperwork for the day. Then he got a e-mail notification on his computer. The subject read "The Rock." He opened it and read what was on it.

"The Rock is active. We're getting reports on vegetation growing in the Oshima underground. Further analysis reports that the plants contains traces of the Apocalypse Virus. Needless to say, we may have to relocate it before this little situation gets out of control. We even had to send an Inves to take care of a witness. Of course, the top brass doesn't know that this is happening. We're awaiting further orders from you.

Sagara."

Keido was in thought as how to respond to this situation. The way the Inves were controlled by him was still kept under wraps, and all the reports he sent to the Supreme Commander were carefully written as to maintain the front that these creature were still a new danger that has not been fully understood yet. Keido eventually wrote back to DJ Sagara explaining how he intends to resolve the situation.

"I'll call in a sick day, and take a small clean-up crew with me. As for The Rock, I'll procure it without raising suspicion or alarm. The Komori Inves managed to escape the fight between Gaim and Bravo, and made it to Oshima under my orders. Just as a precautionary measure. I will have assist me in the operation. Continue your daily duties."

Keido sent the e-mail to Sagara. He then got up and made preparations for a little trip.

In his broadcast room, DJ Sagara read the e-mail Keido sent to him.

"Well, all right. And now for my side job."

He wrote another e-mail. But this time, this one was for Gai.

(Funeral Parlor Headquarters)

Shu had to sneak out of his apartment in the middle of the night because Gai called for him for a mission.

"Hey, I'm here. So, what's the mission?"

Gai was sitting on a staircase in the main library where he meets his fighters for strategy meetings. He had his holo-terminal with him. Shu looked at the terminal and saw what looked like a e-mail.

"Sit down."

Shu did so.

"Do you know a Souta Tamadate?"

"Yeah. He's in my class."

"Bring him to Oshima. We need his void to infiltrate a GHQ facility there. The security setup there can only be subverted by his void alone."

"Hmm. So, it's gotta be him?"

"Pretty much."

"So, just how do I get him there?"

"Just ask him on a trip."

"I suppose. Maybe I can take the rest of my club with us so it can look less suspicious. Make sure there's a decent cover involved. Hmm. Okay. I'll do it"

"That's the spirit. Just use your head, and I'll take care of the rest. And don't about your friend. He'll be just fine."

'And yet, that tone makes me think the opposite.'

And that's it. I'll work on the next chapter as soon as I can.
