Ronnie Anne vs. Marnie
Outside Spikemuth, Ronnie Anne and Marnie were facing each other while the Loud sisters, Clyde, and Sam were watching; Lincoln was still sitting on the ground in a dazed state after the long kiss Marnie gave him.
"So, how many Pokemon are we going to use?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"We will each use four." replied Marnie.
"Fine by me." replied Ronnie Anne. She and Marnie each pull out a pokeball.
"Liepard, go!" said Marnie, throwing a pokeball and releasing a Liepard.
"Go, Hawlucha!" said Ronnie Anne, throwing Hawlucha's pokeball and releasing her.
"Liepard, use Fake Out!" said Marnie. Liepard runs at Hawlucha and stops a foot from her; it claps its front paws together, creating a shockwave that hits Hawlucha, dealing damage, and making her flinch. "Now use Hone Claws!"
"You use Hone Claws too, Hawlucha!" said Ronnie Anne. Hawlucha and Liepard's claws glowed red and orange auras shoot up around both Pokemon, increasing their attack strength and accuracy.
"Liepard, use Fury Swipes!" said Marnie. Liepard leaps at Hawlucha and repeatedly scratches her with its front claws, damaging her.
"Hawlucha, Wing Attack!" said Ronnie Anne. Hawlucha swings one of her wings at Liepard and strikes it, dealing damage.
"Assurance!" said Marnie. Liepard rams Hawlucha, able to deal moderate damage to her due to Assurance power being doubled due to Liepard receiving damage before it was used, along with Hone Claws powering up Liepard's attack strength.
"Use Tackle!" said Ronnie Anne. Hawlucha rams Liepard, dealing damage, and knocking it back.
"Use Scratch!" said Marnie. Liepard leaps at Hawlucha with its claws raised.
"Detect!" said Ronnie Anne. Hawlucha's eyes shine light blue; she leaps to the side and dodges Liepard's attack. "Now use Flying Press!" Hawlucha flies up above Liepard and becomes surrounded by orange energy; she dives down towards Liepard and crashes into it. When the smoke from the collision cleared, Hawlucha was doing a pose while Liepard was on the ground with swirly eyes.
"Way to go, Ronnie Anne." said Clyde.
"That was totes amazing." said Leni. Marnie returns Liepard to its pokeball.
"You fought well, Liepard." said Marnie. She puts Liepard's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Toxicroak, go!" She throws a pokeball and releases a dark blue and teal, bipedal, froglike Pokemon with a spike coming out of its head, a red sac under its chin and a red claw on the back of each of its hands.
"Whoa, what's that?" asked Lana as she pulls out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Toxicroak, the Toxic Frog Pokemon, and the evolved form of Croagunk. It booms out a victory croak when its prey goes down in defeat. This Pokémon and Seismitoad are related species." said Lana's Rotom Phone.
"Toxicroak, Poison Jab!" said Marnie. Toxicroak leaps at Hawlucha while one of its claws glowed purple and it jabs Hawlucha with it, dealing damage to her; it turned purple under Hawlucha's eyes.
"Oh man, Hawlucha's poisoned." said Luna.
"That's not going to stop us, right, Hawlucha!" said Ronnie Anne. Hawlucha nods in response. "Good, now use Aerial Ace!" Hawlucha flies at Toxicroak while white streaks of light surrounds her; she rams into Toxicroak, dealing super effective damage; she coughs from her poisoning and loses stamina.
"Toxicroak, use Venoshock!" said Marnie. Toxicroak fires multiple glowing purple darts from its mouth and they hit Hawlucha, dealing massive damage due to Venoshock doing more damage to poisoned opponents.
"Hawlucha, Wing Attack!" said Ronnie Anne. Hawlucha flies at Toxicroak and strikes it with one of her wings, dealing super effective damage; Hawlucha coughs from her poisoning and loses more stamina.
"Toxicroak, Poison Sting!" said Marnie. Toxicroak fires multiple purple darts out of its mouth and they hit Hawlucha; she falls to the ground, unconscious.
"Whoa, that was brutal." said Sam.
"It was." said Lucy from behind Sam, scaring her. Ronnie Anne returns Hawlucha to her pokeball.
"You were great out there, Hawlucha." said Ronnie Anne. She puts Hawlucha's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Luxray, go!" She throws Luxray's pokeball and releases him. "Luxray, use Charge!" Luxray becomes surrounded by sparks and his special defense increases.
"Toxicroak, use Poison Jab!" said Marnie. Toxicroak leaps at Luxray while one of its claws glowed purple and jabs Luxray with it, dealing damage.
"Okay, Luxray, use Spark!" said Ronnie Anne. Luxray becomes surrounded by electricity and he charges at Toxicroak; he rams Toxicroak, dealing damage, and knocking it back. Toxicroak begins twitching and is surrounded by static.
"Toxicroak's paralyzed." said Lola.
"Toxicroak, use Revenge!" said Marnie. Unfortunately, Toxicroak's paralysis stopped it from attacking.
"Luxray, Tackle!" said Ronnie Anne. Luxray charges at Toxicroak and rams it, knocking it to the ground, unconscious.
"That was radical!" said Luna.
"Yeah, but that Tackle attack didn't look like it did much damage, though." said Clyde.
"Hey, is your Toxicroak a boy or girl?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"A girl; why?" asked Marnie.
"Dang it; my Luxray has the Rivalry ability." said Ronnie Anne.
"I see; I assume your Luxray's a male." said Marnie.
"Yeah, so his attacks wouldn't do much against Toxicroak." replied Ronnie Anne. Marnie then returns Toxicroak to its pokeball.
"You were great, Toxicroak." said Marnie. She puts Toxicroak's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Scrafty, go!" She throws the pokeball and releases an orange, bipedal, lizard-like Pokemon with a red mohawk, yellow skin hanging off its shoulders and yellow skin around its lower body. Luna points her Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Scrafty, the Hoodlum Pokemom, and the evolved form of Scraggy. While mostly known for having the temperament of an aggressive ruffian, this Pokémon takes very good care of its family, friends, and territory." said Luna's Rotom Phone.
"Scrafty, use Brick Break!" said Marnie. Scrafty leaps at Luxray and karate chops him, dealing damage.
"Luxray, use Spark!" said Ronnie Anne. Luxray becomes surrounded by electricity and charges at Scrafty; he rams into it, but not dealing much damage.
"Hey, is your Scrafty a girl too?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"Yes." replied Marnie.
"Dang it, so Luxray's attacks won't do much against Scrafty either." said Ronnie Anne; Scrafty becomes covered in static and she begins twitching. "At least Scrafty's paralyzed."
"Not for long." replied Marnie. A layer of skin suddenly peeled off Scrafty's body and she stopped twitching.
"What happened?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"My Scrafty has the Shed Skin ability, which gets rid of any status condition she's afflicted with." replied Marnie.
"Dang it." said Ronnie Anne.
"Scrafty, Payback!" said Marnie. Steaks of energy come out of Scrafty's body and they hit Luxray, dealing damage.
"Oh man; Payback's power is doubled when the user is hit before it's used." said Clyde.
"Luxray's attacks won't do much to her because of his Rivalry ability, but that won't stop us!" said Ronnie Anne. "Luxray, use Thunder Shock!" Luxray releases electricity from his body and they hit Scrafty, but not dealing much damage.
"Scrafty, Headbutt!" said Marnie. Scrafty charges at Luxray and rams her head against him, dealing damage, and making him flinch. "Now use Low Kick!" Scrafty kicks Luxray's front legs, making her fall to the ground, unconscious.
"Man, now they're both down to two Pokemon." said Sam.
"Hey, what's going on?" asked Lincoln who was getting up.
"Welcome back to the real world, bro." said Luna.
"Ronnie Anne and Marnie are battling each other." said Leni; Lincoln looks to see Ronnie Anne returning Luxray to his pokeball.
"You were awesome out there, Luxray." said Ronnie Anne.
"So, who's winning?" asked Lincoln.
"They're tied so far." said Lucy from behind Lincoln, scaring him.
"They're both down to two Pokemon." said Clyde. Ronnie Anne puts Luxray's pokeball away and pulls out another one.
"Go, Blastoise!" said Ronnie Anne, throwing Blastoise's pokeball and releasing her. "Use Rain Dance!" Blastoise fires two orbs of water out of her cannons into the sky; gray clouds appeared in the sky and it begins to rain.
"Now Blastoise's water attacks will become stronger." said Lana.
"Scrafty, Headbutt!" said Marnie. Scrafty leaps at Blastoise.
"Iron Defense!" said Ronnie Anne. Blastoise becomes surrounded by white energy and her body shines, raising her defense; Scrafty rams into Blastoise, but not dealing much damage. "Now use Aqua Tail!" Blastoise runs at Scrafty while water spiraled around her tail and she hits Scrafty with it, dealing more damage than it normally would due to Wave Incense and the rain powering up her water type attacks.
"Scrafty, Low Kick!" said Marnie. Scrafty leaps at Blastoise and kicks her legs, knocking her to the ground and dealing damage.
"Blastoise, Water Pulse!" said Ronnie Anne. Blastoise fires a blast of water out of one of her cannons, then another out the other cannon; they both hit Scrafty, dealing enough damage to knock her out.
"Ronnie Anne's doing great." said Leni. The rain suddenly stopped.
"Looks like Rain Dance wore off." said Lola.
"Just one more Pokemon and she's got this." said Lana. Marnie returns Scrafty to her pokeball.
"You fought well, Scrafty; you've earned a rest." said Marnie. She puts Scrafty's pokeball away and pulls out another. "You're doing well, Ronnie Anne; but you still have one more Pokemon to beat."
"Bring it on!" said Ronnie Anne, making Marnie smirk.
"Go, Morpeko!" said Marnie, throwing Morpeko's pokeball and releasing it. "Morpeko, use Spark!" Morpeko's body becomes surrounded by electricity and it charges at Blastoise, ramming her, and dealing super effective damage; Blastoise becomes surrounded by static.
"Blastoise is paralyzed." said Lincoln.
"It'll take more than that to stop us, right, Blastoise?" asked Ronnie Anne; Blastoise nods in response. "Okay, use Aqua Tail!" Unfortunately, paralysis stops Blastoise from attacking. Morpeko suddenly changes to its Hangry Form.
"Morpeko, use Thunder Shock!" said Marnie. Morpeko releases electricity from its body and they hit Blastoise, dealing super effective damage.
"Blastoise, try using Rapid Spin!" said Ronnie Anne. Blastoise fights through her paralysis and tucks her head and limbs into her shell; it spins towards Morpeko and rams into it, dealing damage; energy begins surging through Blastoise.
"Rapid Spin increases the speed of the Pokemon that uses it." said Lincoln. Morpeko returns to its Full Belly Form.
"Morpeko, use Bite!" said Marnie. Morpeko runs at Blastoise and bites her arm, not dealing much damage due to her increased defense, but making her flinch. Morpeko returns to its Hangry Form. "Now use Spark!" Morpeko charges at Blastoise while electricity covered its body and it rams Blastoise, dealing super effective damage.
"Blastoise, Tackle!" said Ronnie Anne. Paralysis stops Blastoise from attacking. Morpeko returns to its Fully Belly Form.
"Thunder Shock!" said Marnie. Morpeko releases electricity from her body and they hit Blastoise, dealing super effective damage.
"Blastoise, Water Gun!" said Ronnie Anne. Blastoise fights through her paralysis and releases a stream of water from her mouth; it hits Morpeko, dealing damage to it. Morpeko returns to its Hangry Form.
"Morpeko, use Quick Attack!" said Marnie. Morpeko charges at Blastoise and rams her, but not dealing much damage due to her increased defense. Blastosie begins to breathe heavily; a blue aura suddenly surrounds her body.
"Whoa; that's Blastoise's Torrent ability." said Ronnie Anne. "Blastoise, Hydro Pump!" Blastoise fights through her paralysis and fires two powerful streams of water out of her cannons and they hit Morpeko, creating an explosion of water; when the water cleared, Morpeko was lying on the ground, unconscious.
"Ronnie Anne won!" said Leni.
"Way to go, little dudette!" said Luna; Lincoln only watched on.
Meanwhile, at the Casagrandes apartment building in Great Lakes City, Wisconsin; Maria Santiago was standing on the couch of her parents, Hector and Rosa Casagrande, cheering out loud.
"What's gotten into you, Maria?" asked Rosa.
"I don't know; I suddenly had the urge to cheer." replied Maria.
"Do you think it has something to do with Ronnie Anne and these Pokemon things you told us about?" asked Hector.
"Maybe." replied Maria.
"I still can't believe such creatures exist; even if you did show those recordings of Ronnie Anne's gym battles to us." said Rosa.
"Still thought they were cool." said Ronnie Anne's cousin, Carlino.
"Ronnie Anne's Blastoise looked so awesome." said Carlino's brother, CJ.
"These Pokemon seem like interesting creatures." said Carlino's father, Carlos.
"Although those ghost Pokemon were a little scary." said Carlos' daughter, Carlota.
"I wish I was a Pokemon trainer like Ronnie Anne." said Carlino. His mother, Frida, wraps Carlino in a tight hug.
"No! I will not have my baby boy far from home!" cried Frida before she began crying. Her youngest son, Carlitos, tosses a ball, expecting a Pokemon to come out; he looked disappointed when it doesn't.
Meanwhile, back outside Spikemuth, Marnie returns Morpeko to its pokeball.
"You did well, Morpeko." said Marnie. She puts Morpeko's pokeball away and walks to Ronnie Anne who was hugging Blastoise. "That was an excellent battle, Ronnie Anne."
"Thanks, Marnie." said Ronnie Anne; Marnie gives her pokedollars.
"Perhaps we'll have a rematch at the Galar League." said Marnie. Ronnie Anne nods in response. The rest of the group walks over to her.
"So, Marnie; how do we get into Spikemuth?" asked Lincoln. Marnie points down an alley.
"Just go through there." said Marnie, pointing down an alley behind her; she turned towards Ronnie Anne. "There's a Pokemon Center in there so you can have your Pokemon treated; your Pokemon will need to be in full strength if you're going to challeng the gym leader."
"Thanks, Marnie." said Ronnie Anne. Marnie walks over to Lincoln.
"And I hope to see you again soon, Lincoln." said Marnie before kissing him, making him blush; Ronnie Anne frowns in response. Marnie grabs Lincoln's hand and leads him down the alley into Spikemuth. Luna turned towards the others.
"You ready for your next badges, everybody?" asked Luna.
"Yeah!" replied everyone but Lucy who only nods. Lana sees the layer of skin Marnie's Scrafty shedded with her Shed Skin ability; she runs over to it and picks it up.
"I'm keeping this." said Lana, holding up the skin.
"EW!" exclaimed Lola.
Meanwhile, at the Master Dojo in the Isle of Armor, Gloria was giving Ms. Honey some Max Mushrooms.
"Thank you, Gloria; these are enough Max Mushrooms for some Max Soup." said Ms. Honey. "Once your Inteleon eats the Max Soup, she will be able to Gigantimax."
"Thank you, Ms. Honey." replied Gloria. 'And thank you, Lincoln, for telling me about the Max Soup; I'm gonna have to give you an extra long kiss to show my gratitude next time we meet.'
