"FUUUUCK."
Coming out of what once was a small cave used to take shelter from a fierce storm, but now an extremely large cavern big enough to house tall buildings and huge mansions was a man with ripped clothing, grass and dirt over his hair and body and dark bags under his eyes.
Four…Fucking…Days!
Trying to leave after rescuing the baby Larvitar…the group had encountered a rather fierce storm that came out of nowhere, forcing them to seek shelter. Now all would have been okay had it not been for Clefairy running off in a different direction to grab a bunch of Oran Berries.
Chasing after that pink marshmallow was…far more difficult than Asier could have imagined. And then being in the thick of the storm after managing to return Clefairy to its Pokeball and taking the large amount of Oran Berries, he had been forced to bolt and use Larvitar and Pidgey to find shelter.
They managed to find this cave thanks to Larvitars senses, providing protection along with some food in the form of Oran Berries. Asier had not been sure just what they would taste like and whether or not it would give him sustenance but he had nothing left to go on and the feeling of hunger gnawing at his bones was not fun.
Eating the Oran berry with apprehension, he had been shocked that it tasted just like oranges…and gave him tremendous amounts of energy! It was seriously shocking to the point where if this type of fruit appeared in his world, it would have scientists going mad and people insane to buy it. His wounds healed, his fatigue slowly went away and he felt rejuvenated.
This experience made him wonder about all the other items of the Pokemon world and what effects they would have on the human body. Like maybe Chansey's egg or Moomoo milk would have some incredible effects? He desperately wanted to catch those Pokemon and see for himself.
Regardless, he managed to pull through the days that seemed to go on forever due to the storm and Larvitar munching on the rock and dirt from inside the cave.
Seriously, I thought maybe the Pokedex exaggerated Larvitar being able to consume a mountain but…this is unreal. Not to mention this Larvitar is just a freaking beast like no other!
[Larvitar - The Rock Skin Pokemon: Larvitar is born deep underground and feeds on soil to survive. It must eat its way through the earth to reach the surface, where it can finally see its parents. After consuming enough soil, usually the size of a mountain, it falls asleep to grow and eventually become a pupa.
Type: Rock - Ground
Ability: Guts
Gender: Male
Height: 1m
Weight: 101kg
Moves: Dragon Dance, Outrage, Iron Head, Iron Defense, Ancient Power, Stomp, Assurance, Curse, Rock Throw, Payback, Bite
]
Just the long list of incredible moves made this first stage evolution of a pseudo-legendary a force to be reckoned with. That was not to mention the fact that this Larvitar was only 5 days old! It had limitless potential.
I just need to recognize this potential by doing intense training and getting to the city to find some way to make some money and get enough supplies!
"Alright, everyone! Time to go!" Asier shouted to all his Pokemon. Pidgey, Sentret and Clefairy came running to him.
SNORE*
Seriously…devouring this side of Mt Silver and now snoring away…this Larvitar is going to be a pain in my ass…whatever. Can't complain. When it grows to be stronger than Legendary Pokemon…it will be all worth it.
Returning the sleeping Larvitar, Asier decided it was high time to find civilization!
"Pidgey, please do me a favor and fly high and let me know which direction the nearest city is."
"Coo."
With a nod and a powerful flap of his wings, Pidgey flew up and began searching.
"Sentret, just be on alert as we walk and let me know if anything comes our way."
"Sen. Sentret Sen."
It's weird how I can't understand them but I get a feel for what they are saying…
Thankfully, the two Pokemon had Keen Eye which while working like in the games was actually also quite different in this world, allowed Asier to find the correct path to Viridian City and it would only take him a few hours to get there.
Keen Eye was special in that it not only allowed for the prevention of loss of accuracy but it also acted as a buff of sorts, enabling the Pokemon to have a much higher chance of landing moves. In addition, the enhanced visionary prowess enabled them to see more clearly and in depth which would definitely be useful in battle.
Once I get to the Pokemon Center, I'm definitely going to spend a few days doing research and training my Pokemon to get a better understanding of how this world works. Since this is now my reality…and I have no real reason to go back to my home world…and honestly why would I? This is the Pokemon world for crying out loud!
Hours passed by and whenever Asier's legs felt burning and tired, Clefairy would generously launch a Heal Pulse at him, allowing his tired muscles to recover.
This is just plain hacks!
The fact that he had a healer like Clefairy on his team which could not only help in healing himself and his Pokemon, but also aid in training using Gravity…it just simulated his desire to train non-stop like had been doing the past four days in that cave.
The results were already visible with how much stronger Sentret and Pidgey had become.
"MAN! MANKEY MAN!"
The cry was followed by a blurred shadow racing towards Asier.
"SENTRET!" A white glow enveloped Sentret as his speed went even beyond the incoming shadow before landing a clean slash across the fighting-type's body.
"Oh wow…a Mankey." Asier reacted when Mankey was sent flying back. The sequence of events happened so fast that he had no chance to react because his eyes simply could not keep track of the raw speed Pokemon moved at, something he would have to work on.
"Sentret, Quick Attack into Slash again!"
"MANKEY!" The ferocious fighting type got up despite being hit with heavy damage and immediately retaliated.
A sharp blade of black colored energy held in Mankey's hand collided with Sentret's own white energy blade.
"MAN!" The surprised cry was followed by Mankey being sent flying.
Sentret after going through intense gravity training and healing from Clefairy resulting in massive improvements was quite a bit stronger then Mankey.
Asier quickly threw his second-last Pokeball which sucked Mankey inside and began shaking. It shook again…and again…and again.
How long is this going to take?!
The fighting type seemed to put up quite a struggle before finally succumbing.
DING*
That satisfying ding is one I will never get tired of hearing!
Asier was about to check Mankey's stats when he heard a voice shout, "Hey, you there!"
He turned to see a teenage boy running towards him, Pokéball in hand. "I saw you catch that Mankey! Let's have a battle! I want to see how strong my Pokémon are compared to yours."
FINALLY! I am not alone in this world! There are people here…A Pokemon battle huh? This will be a lot different compared to turn based battling from the games. Wonder how I will do. Should keep in mind to avoid unnecessary jargon and give simple commands.
Asier raised an eyebrow, smirking slightly. "A battle, huh? I was just planning to crawl into the nearest Pokémon Center and collapse, but sure, why not? I've got a couple of minutes to spare before my legs give out."
The boy grinned. "Awesome! Go, Rattata!" he shouted, tossing his Pokéball into the air.
Asier's smirk deepened. "Sentret, let's show him what you've got!" Sentret appeared in a flash, landing gracefully on all fours, tail twitching.
"Rattata, Quick Attack!" The purple rodent shot forward like a bullet.
"Sentret, meet him with your own Quick Attack," Asier commanded, his voice calm despite the speed of the battle. Sentret bolted toward Rattata, and the two Pokémon collided midair with a burst of energy. Both bounced back, but Sentret was quicker to recover.
The boy gritted his teeth. "Rattata, Hyper Fang!" Rattata rushed in again, its teeth glowing dangerously as it aimed for Sentret's side.
"Dodge, Sentret, then hit him with Slash," Asier said, his eyes narrowed, analyzing the battle. Sentret swerved at the last second, narrowly avoiding Rattata's deadly bite, before retaliating with a sharp swipe of its claws. Rattata tumbled to the ground, struggling to get up.
The boy looked shocked. "Rattata, no! Return!" He recalled his Pokémon and looked at Asier, eyes burning with determination. "I'm not done yet! Go, Butterfree!"
As the elegant Butterfree emerged in a flurry of glittering wings, Asier gave a low whistle. "Alright, that's more like it. Sentret, think you can handle this?" Sentret chirped confidently, but Asier could see the fatigue beginning to show from its previous battle with Mankey and now Rattata. Four days was definitely not enough to have a huge increase in Stamina and not to mention this was his first trainer battle.
"Quick Attack!"
"Let's go, Butterfree! Sleep Powder!" the boy shouted. Butterfree flapped its wings, releasing a cloud of shimmering green powder.
"Sentret, dodge it!" Asier ordered, but Sentret could not change his trajectory with the high speed he traveled at. The Sleep Powder hit, and Sentret's movements slowed as it wobbled before collapsing into a deep sleep and skidding to a stop.
"Damn," Asier muttered, grinding his teeth. "Sentret, wake up! Come on!"
"Butterfree, Gust!" The boy was quick to follow up, his Butterfree whipping up a powerful wind that buffeted Sentret's limp body, sending it tumbling across the ground.
Asier clenched his fists. "Sentret, please! Snap out of it!" But his Pokémon remained asleep as Butterfree continued its relentless assault with another Gust, slamming Sentret into the dirt.
"Finish it off with Confusion!" the boy called. Butterfree's eyes glowed a soft pink, and an unseen force lifted Sentret into the air before slamming it down hard.
Sentret didn't move.
Asier grimaced. "Sentret, return," he said quietly, recalling his Pokémon. His expression hardened. "Alright, Pidgey, it's your turn."
Pidgey burst out of its Pokéball, wings spread wide, eyes sharp and ready. Asier cracked his neck, rolling his shoulders. "Quick Attack!"
Pidgey shot forward, a blur of feathers and speed, slamming into Butterfree before it could react.
"Butterfree, use Sleep Powder again!" the boy ordered, panic creeping into his voice.
"Gust!" Asier called, eyes gleaming. Pidgey flapped its wings powerfully, creating a whirlwind that blew the Sleep Powder right back into Butterfree's face. The butterfly Pokémon fluttered unsteadily, its own attack disorienting it.
"Air Slash!" Asier commanded, his voice sharp and decisive. Pidgey's wings glowed, forming a razor-sharp blade of wind between them. With a mighty flap, Pidgey sent the blade flying toward Butterfree, hitting it squarely in the chest.
"Butterfree!" The boy's voice cracked as his Pokémon was knocked out of the air, crashing to the ground in a heap. He rushed over and cradled his unconscious Butterfree in his arms. "You did great, Butterfree. Return." He recalled the Pokémon with a heavy sigh.
Asier, meanwhile, let out a long breath, his heart still pounding from the intensity of the battle. "You did amazing, Pidgey. Take a breather," he said, gently patting his bird Pokémon on the head as he returned it to its Pokéball.
The boy stood up and smiled, despite the loss. "That was an awesome battle. I thought I had you when Sentret went down."
Asier shrugged, smirking. "You put up a good fight. Your Butterfree's tricky, but sometimes brute force is the best way to handle tricky situations." He gave a quick, mocking salute. "Better luck next time."
The boy chuckled. "Thanks for the battle. I'll get stronger and challenge you again!"
"Looking forward to it," Asier said, with a hint of genuine friendliness in his voice. As the boy walked off, Asier turned to Clefairy, who had been watching the whole battle with her usual amused smile.
"Clefairy, give Sentret a Heal Pulse, will you? I don't want him waking up angry at me for getting knocked out."
Clefairy giggled softly, her hands glowing as she cast the healing energy over Sentret's Pokéball. A few seconds later, Sentret emerged, stretching and yawning as if waking from a long nap.
"Welcome back to the land of the living," Asier teased. "Next time, let's avoid any more naps in the middle of a battle, yeah?"
Sentret chirped indignantly but smiled up at him, clearly feeling better.
"Now let's welcome our newest member before we move on!" Asier said, taking Mankey out of its Pokeball.
"Man…Man…" The tired fighting-type was glaring at the human who captured it with defiance and rage.
"Clefairy, use Heal Pulse." Asier commanded, causing Mankey to tense up but the exhaustion plaguing every inch of his muscles was too much to bear. He could not even move and thus got hit with a full powered heal pulse.
Feeling the strength returning to its body, Mankey looked at the human and the Pokemon he was surrounded by in confusion.
"You are a part of my team now Mankey. But it's still a choice I will give you if you want to leave."
"Mankey. Man Man."
Asier ignored whatever was said to him as he had no capability of understanding it. "Although you may not be convinced, Sentret was someone I only captured around 5 days ago and now he is strong enough to take you down without breaking a sweat. I have ways to give you power beyond your imagination…the only condition is to join me."
Mankey pondered for a bit before giving a slight nod as it gazed at Sentret with a burning fighting desire. He wanted to become more powerful and if what this human said was true then he would gain it by following him and training under his commands. What more could he ask for?
Hehe…I think I'm getting the hang of the whole follow me for endless glory shpeal. The more powerful my Pokemon get, the easier it would be to catch other Pokemon and tame them…maybe even catching them without battling.
Asier decided to continue on his way, only a small distance away from Viridian City now while also looking at the details of his newest capture.
[Mankey - The Pig Monkey Pokemon: Mankey is extremely quick to anger, going from calm to thrashing in an instant. It lives in treetop colonies, and if one Mankey becomes enraged, the entire group will rampage uncontrollably. When angered, it cannot distinguish between friends and foes, making it dangerous to approach.
Type: Fighting
Ability: Defiant
Gender: Male
Height: 0.45m
Weight: 30 kg
Moves: Night Slash, Counter, Spite, Curse, Low Kick, Focus Energy, Scratch, Fury Swipes]
Not too bad but will need lots of work. From what I remember, Mankey's final evolution is Anhiliape. Primeape evolves by using Rage Fist 20 times. Maybe that will work in this world?
As Asier finally approached Viridian City, he let out a long sigh. His body ached from days spent surviving in the mountains, and his clothes were still in tatters. He looked every bit the vagabond who had crawled out of a disaster—grimy, disheveled, and clearly in desperate need of a shower.
The bustling city streets were a welcome sight, though. Civilization. Finally! A wave of relief washed over him, though it was quickly interrupted by the sound of a loudspeaker crackling to life.
"Attention, citizens! Be on the lookout for suspicious individuals—there have been multiple reports of a criminal on the loose!" Officer Jenny's voice boomed over the city, making Asier wince. "If you see anything unusual, report it immediately!"
Of course, that would be my luck, Asier thought dryly, mentally preparing himself for whatever chaos was about to follow. As he turned a corner, his luck lived up to its reputation. A flash of blue blurred in his peripheral vision, and the next thing he knew, he was tackled to the ground.
"Gotcha!" Officer Jenny's voice rang out triumphantly as she pinned him down with surprising strength.
"Ugh, what the hell!" Asier groaned, his face half-buried in the dirt as he realized the rather…awkward situation he was now in. Jenny's knee pressed firmly into his back, her short skirt offering him a much-too-close view he had no desire to comment on. "I know you're a public servant and all, but this is a bit much, don't you think?" he muttered sarcastically, trying to turn his head.
"Don't move!" she snapped, misinterpreting his wriggling as resistance.
Great. Tackled by a police officer, in a public street, looking like I just crawled out of a cave. Totally not embarrassing.
"Listen, Officer, this is all a misunderstanding," he grumbled, trying to make his voice sound as innocent as possible. "I'm not the criminal you're looking for!"
"Oh yeah?" Jenny replied skeptically, still holding him down. "You look like you've been through a few shady situations lately."
"Thanks for the compliment," he drawled, "but if you give me a second, I can explain."
Her grip eased, but only slightly. "I'm listening. This better be good."
Alright, time to sell it. "I was kidnapped. By Pokémon Hunter J."
Jenny's eyes widened. "Hunter J? That's a serious claim. Why would she kidnap you?"
"Well," he began, thinking on his feet, "she was after my Clefairy. You know how rare Clefairy are, right? I guess she thought she could fetch a high price."
"And what happened after that?"
"I snuck onto her ship," Asier said with a grim expression. "Found Clefairy locked up in some cage. I managed to get her out, but… things went bad. Alarms went off, we were cornered, and I barely escaped by jumping out of her ship over Mt. Silver. I survived the fall thanks to a timely Metronome by Clefiary but I had no supplies, no food, just my empty Pokéballs and my phone." He paused for effect. "I've been wandering around since, trying to get to safety."
Jenny's grip finally loosened entirely as she blinked in disbelief. "You… survived Mt. Silver? After falling out of Hunter J's ship?"
"Yeah. Not exactly a vacation," Asier grumbled. "Got caught in a storm a few days ago, too. That's why I look like I fought a rockslide and lost."
Officer Jenny stood up, dusting herself off, looking genuinely apologetic now. "I'm… sorry about the misunderstanding. That's quite the ordeal. I do need to see your ID." She extended her hand to help him up, though Asier's sarcastic side was already kicking in.
"Yeah, well, no hard feelings, and here." he said as he took her hand before showing his ID on his phone. "If I had a dollar for every time I was mistaken for a criminal, I'd probably have enough to fix my ripped clothes."
Jenny managed a small smile. "Let me make it up to you. I'll get you to the Pokémon Center and cover the costs for healing and a few days of rest. You've clearly been through a lot."
"I wouldn't say no to a hot shower and a bed," Asier admitted with a smirk, though inwardly, he was just relieved that he wasn't going to spend the night in a jail cell.
At the Pokémon Center, Asier was finally able to clean up and catch his breath. Nurse Joy had taken care of his Pokémon which he collected before collapsing onto one of the couches in the lobby. His body still ached, but at least he didn't look like a wild animal anymore.
Asier's peace was short-lived, though. He noticed a boy with messy black hair standing nervously by the counter, holding a Pokéball tightly in his hand. That kid looked familiar—wasn't that Ash Ketchum?
His suspicions were confirmed when Nurse Joy returned with a weary but stable Pikachu, just brought out from intensive care. "Your Pikachu is going to be fine, but it'll need some rest," she told the kid.
Ash smiled weakly. "Thank you, Nurse Joy. I was so worried…"
Asier raised an eyebrow. So, this was the infamous Ash, always getting into trouble. He couldn't help but chuckle to himself before his attention drifted to his female companion, the famous Misty.
The anime did not do her justice. Jeez that is one fine, hot and curvy woman. How the hell does Ash manage to keep his mind focused on only one thing with her around? Could it be that those fan theories were right and he swings the other way?
Just as he considered whether or not to strike up a conversation mostly to get acquainted with Misty, a loud crash interrupted his thoughts.
A Koffing and Ekans popped out of a Pokeball that dropped from the ceiling before the entire lobby was covered by Koffing's smokescreen.
Oh shit…is it those two! I can't and WON'T listen to that MOTTO for the BILLIONTH. FUCKING. TIME.
"What is…who are they?" Ash couldn't help but ask.
"Don't be frightened little boy."
Why does Jessie sound hot?
"Allow us to introduce ourselves."
As the smoke began to clear from Koffing's attack, Asier was already moving. His Pokéballs flashed in quick succession as he shouted, "Pidgey, Gust! Sentret, Quick Attack and Slash on Koffing and Ekans! Mankey, Low Sweep! Larvitar... WAKE UP!"
Pidgey darted into the air, wings whipping up a fierce wind that cleared the smokescreen in seconds, revealing Team Rocket in their ridiculous, over-the-top poses. Jessie opened her mouth, no doubt ready to begin the infamous motto, but Asier wasn't having it.
"Sentret, go!"
Sentret was a blur of fur and claws, slamming into Koffing before it could react, followed by a sharp Slash. The Poison-type winced, wobbling from the impact.
"Ekans, Bite him back!" James yelled in panic.
Before Ekans could even strike, Mankey lunged forward with a devastating Low Sweep, sending the snake Pokémon skidding across the floor into its partner.
Jessie's mouth dropped open. "You... you can't just cut us off!"
"I absolutely can. Pidgey, Air Slash!"
With a powerful flap of its wings, Pidgey sent a glowing blade of wind crashing into both Koffing and Ekans, knocking them into the wall. They hit the ground with a resounding *THUD, eyes swirling in defeat.
"Ughhh What happ—" Meowth started, but was cut short by a loud, obnoxious snore.
Asier glanced over at Larvitar, who was still curled up in the corner, completely oblivious to the entire battle. Unreal... This thing eats like a mountain, sleeps through a fight, and it's still probably going to end up stronger than some Legendaries...hopefully. He shook his head in disbelief. "Some help you are, Larvitar."
Jessie, looking furious, struggled to her feet. Asier, despite himself, couldn't help but notice her stunning figure—the long legs, the slim waist, and curves that could drive most guys wild. She'd be a knockout if she wasn't, you know... a criminal. Who am I kidding…this woman is a bombshell regardless of her occupation.
Before Jessie could retaliate, Officer Jenny burst through the entrance with her Growlithe in tow. "Team Rocket! You're under arrest!" she shouted, wasting no time in cuffing the defeated trio.
Jessie groaned dramatically as Growlithe stood guard. "How humiliating..."
Meowth sulked. "You ain't kidding..."
As Officer Jenny dragged them away, Nurse Joy hurried over, her face a mix of relief and gratitude. "Thank you so much! I don't know what we would have done without your help. Team Rocket would have stolen so many Pokémon."
Asier shrugged, still smirking. "Yeah, well, they're not exactly criminal masterminds. A stiff breeze would knock them over."
Before Nurse Joy could respond, a boy with messy black hair ran up to him, excitement in his eyes. "That was amazing! You took them down so fast! I'm Ash, by the way, and this is my friend…"
"Friend?!" Misty interjected, storming up beside him. "Friend?! You burned my bike to a crisp!"
Ash winced, scratching the back of his head sheepishly. "It was Pikachu's fault, not mine!"
Misty crossed her arms and glared. "Yeah, because you couldn't control him! That's still your fault!"
Asier watched the exchange, raising an eyebrow. So this is the famous Ash Ketchum huh. Considering from what I remember about the anime, given this is just him starting his journey…I have a chance to snag all the powerhouses he captured…like that Charmander. Sorry Ash but although I like you…that Charizard is something else. He cleared his throat, drawing their attention back to him. "So, what's the deal with you two, anyway? You're chasing him down because of a bike?"
Misty gave him an exasperated look. "It wasn't just any bike—it was my bike, and now it's a pile of ashes! I'm not letting him out of my sight until he replaces it."
Asier chuckled. "Seems fair. A guy's gotta pay his debts, right?"
Ash nodded vigorously. "I'm gonna make it up to her, I promise. But right now, I don't have enough money and I'm focused on becoming a Pokémon Master."
Of course. Pokémon Master. What the hell does that mean anyway? Asier crossed his arms, his smirk softening. "Sounds like a plan, I guess. But you might wanna work on keeping your Pokémon from frying innocent bystanders' property first."
Ash laughed nervously, scratching his head again. "Yeah, I'm... uh, still working on that."
Misty, her expression softening slightly, turned to Asier. "So, what about you? What brings you to Viridian?"
Asier hesitated for a moment, then gave her a casual shrug. "Oh, you know, just passing through after being kidnapped by a ruthless Pokémon Hunter."
Misty's eyes widened in shock. "Wait—what?"
He waved off her concern, downplaying the situation. "Yeah, Hunter J Clefairy, thought she'd make a nice payday for her but I snuck on to her ship. I managed to rescue her and then escape." He gave a wry grin. "Got stuck in a storm for four days though, so you know, it wasn't exactly a vacation."
Misty's expression shifted to one of sympathy. "That sounds awful... How did you survive?"
"Clefairy pulled off a lucky Metronome," Asier said, keeping his tone light. "We crash-landed near Mt. Silver. Spent the next few days playing hide-and-seek with my sanity."
Ash's respect for Asier was clear. "That's amazing! You must really care about your Pokémon to risk your life like that."
Asier shrugged again. "Yeah, well, what was I supposed to do? Leave her behind? Not really my style."
Misty's eyes softened further. "Still, it's impressive. Not many people would go to those lengths."
Hmm... sympathy points. Interesting. Asier noted her reaction but didn't dwell on it. "It's not a big deal, really. Just doing what I had to."
After a few more minutes of small talk, Asier learned about Misty's dream of becoming the greatest Water-type trainer. He listened, nodding here and there, while making a few sarcastic comments that made Ash chuckle and Misty smirk.
—
Later, as Asier sat in the Pokémon Center's lobby, scrolling through the information on his phone, he found himself absorbed in the details of becoming a trainer. So, you need to be 16 to officially start, unless you've got a sponsor and approval from the league showing you have the capabilities of starting sooner. Makes sense though. It makes no sense for 10 year old kids to go out in the wild where they can lose their lives. And the whole sponsor thing…seems that you need a lot of money to be a trainer. I need to get one as well.
Curious, Asier approached Nurse Joy, who was finishing up with her group of Chansey. "Hey, I noticed you've got a few extra Chansey around here. Any chance one of them would want to join my team? I could use a healer on the road."
Nurse Joy blinked, looking a bit surprised. "That's an unusual request," she said thoughtfully, "but after the help you gave us earlier with Team Rocket, I'd be more than happy to ask. Having a Chansey on your team can make a huge difference in keeping your Pokémon in top condition."
Asier gave a half-smirk. "That's what I'm banking on. Figured a healer could save me some trips to the Pokémon Center."
Nurse Joy smiled and turned to the group of Chansey, explaining the situation. One of the Chansey, standing slightly apart from the others, perked up and waddled forward. Her eyes sparkled with curiosity and determination.
"She's decided to join you," Nurse Joy said warmly. "Chansey are incredibly loyal and nurturing by nature, so I'm sure you'll be in good hands."
Asier crouched down to meet Chansey at eye level. The Pokémon tilted her head slightly, as if sizing him up before offering a beaming smile. He couldn't help but chuckle. "Looks like we're gonna make a pretty good team."
Before moving on, Asier quickly pulled out his PokéDex, letting it scan Chansey for her stats and abilities:
[Chansey - The Egg Pokémon: Chansey is a rare and gentle Pokémon known for sharing its highly nutritious eggs with injured Pokémon and people, bringing happiness to those who manage to catch it. It lays several eggs a day, and these eggs are so rich in nutrients that they are eagerly sought after, even by people with little appetite. Despite its kindhearted nature, Chansey is elusive and fast, having developed the ability to flee quickly to protect its precious eggs.
Type: Normal
Ability: Healer
Gender: Female
Height: 1.2m
Weight: 36kg
Moves: Heal Pulse, Heal Bell, Soft-Boiled, Gravity, Sweet Kiss, Copycat, Charm]
Asier's eyes widened slightly as he reviewed her moveset. Healer, huh? That's handy. Talk about having a edge in the field. With her and Clefairy…training will be even more amazing. And those eggs…he will have to give it a shot to eat them and see the effects. He glanced at Chansey again, impressed. "Well, you're gonna be a game-changer for sure."
Nurse Joy stepped forward, her expression turning a bit more serious. "Asier, having a Chansey on your team is a big responsibility. They're gentle, but they can be sensitive, and raising one along with your team requires a lot of resources—food, training, medical supplies, not to mention the expenses you'll incur while traveling."
"Yeah, I figured," Asier said, nodding thoughtfully. "Which brings me to the whole sponsorship thing you mentioned earlier. How exactly does that work?"
Nurse Joy gestured for him to follow her to the front desk. "I can help you get started. The Pokémon League offers sponsorships to trainers who show promise, especially if they already have a strong roster. With Larvitar and Clefairy on your team, I don't think you'll have much trouble getting approved."
She pulled out a tablet from behind the counter and handed it to him. "You'll need to fill out some basic information—your Trainer ID, a bit about your background, and your current location for processing. It's all fairly straightforward."
Asier glanced at the tablet. The first section asked for his Trainer ID. He quickly entered the number displayed on his phone. Alright, so far so good.
The next section asked for his current location. Asier paused for a moment. The thought of putting down his made-up hometown from the Orange Islands crossed his mind, but... No way. That place is so remote. He sighed inwardly and typed in "Viridian City" as his current location.
Nurse Joy noticed his hesitation. "Everything alright?"
"Yeah, just... long story," Asier muttered, brushing it off. "I've been on the move for a while, so I figured Viridian would be the easiest place to start."
She nodded sympathetically. "It makes sense. Most trainers need a stable location for their application, and Viridian is a good choice. Plenty of facilities here for training and support."
The next part of the form asked for his background—why he wanted to become a trainer, where he was from, and what he hoped to achieve. Asier stared at the screen, tapping his fingers against the counter as he considered what to write. Well, technically, I'm not really from this world... but I guess that's not something I can just jot down.
He started typing:
Born in a remote village in the Orange Islands, I've spent most of my life around Pokémon, learning from my surroundings. After a recent series of events, I've decided to travel and build a strong team. My goal is to challenge the League and compete at the highest level.
It wasn't the full story, but it would work for now.
After filling out the rest of the details, Asier handed the tablet back to Nurse Joy, who quickly reviewed the information. "This looks good. Your application will be sent to the Pokémon League for review. You should hear back within a few days."
Asier nodded, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders. "Good to know. So, what happens if I get approved?"
Nurse Joy smiled. "Once you're approved, the Pokémon League will provide you with a stipend to cover the costs of food, medicine, and training supplies for your Pokémon. It'll help you stay on the road and focus on getting stronger. Furthermore, you would also automatically be approved to take the gym circuit. If you manage to complete it, you would qualify for the Indigo League being held in 11 months."
"That's exactly what I need," Asier said with a grin. He glanced down at Chansey, who was happily standing by his side. "Looks like we've got a lot to look forward to."
Nurse Joy reached out, patting Chansey on the head. "I'm sure you two will make a great team. Just remember, the road ahead won't always be easy, but with the right support and determination, you'll go far. Just make sure not to challenge the Viridian City Gym. They only accept challenges from trainers with 7 badges or more. Since you are a new trainer, I recommend going to the Pewter City Gym to start."
"Thank you for the advice." Asier said with a smirk, but he already knew all that information. "I'm not planning on giving up anytime soon."
As he left the counter and found a spot to sit down, he let out a long breath. The possibilities were endless now. Sponsorship, a strong team, and a whole new world of Pokémon to discover... His smirk returned. Let's see how far I can push this.
Chansey looked up at him with bright, curious eyes, ready for the journey ahead.
"Alright, Chansey. Let's go train a bit."
Thank you for the pointers on any mistakes made.
The pairing of this fanfiction is still undecided so please leave a review on any girl that should be with Asier and why.
Also review if there are any pokemon you would like to see on Asier's team (No legendaries at least for now.)
