"Good, Anakin, good," Palpatine chuckled, as Anakin disarmed Dooku – in a literal sense – and snatched up his lightsaber. "I knew you could do it."

His expression tightened. "Kill him. Kill him now!"

"Kriff you, Master," Dooku replied, face drawn with shock.

Anakin blinked.

"What?" he asked.

"Kill him!" Palpatine reiterated.

"What does he mean?" Anakin asked.

"He's lying!" Palpatine insisted. "Kill him! Do it now!"

"Palpatine is Darth Sidious," Dooku said, and Anakin shifted his weight – keeping one saber pointed at Dooku while the other blade swung to point at Palpatine.

Dooku's voice trembled a little, from both the physical shock to his system and the seconds-old betrayal. "Our plan was that – I would be arrested, and then the Republic would win the war as a purge was launched to destroy the Jedi. Then we would rule the galaxy."

"Shut up!" Palpatine insisted. "Anakin, shut him up!"

Dooku kept going. "Just as, if the Confederacy of Independent Systems won, we would also rule the galaxy."

"Oh, this is tiresome," Palpatine decided, and his restraints snapped open with a surge of force energy. Anakin whirled, crossing both the blades he was carrying, and that let him deflect the force lightning that flashed out at him.

"I can offer my parole, if that would help?" Dooku suggested, as another burst of force energy flashed out and Anakin deflected it. "I'm remarkably ungenerous to my Master at this point, and at least Master Yoda never tried to have someone else cut my head off."

Really, it's a very good demonstration of the downside of the faction you've been working with for the last few years.
