"Well, this is interesting," Kyle Katarn said, looking at his hands. "So this is what it's like being a Force Ghost."
"Yes, you get used to it eventually," Obi-Wan Kenobi concurred. "Though I admit I haven't seen you before."
"I'm surprised," Kyle said, shrugging. "I worked for Luke for a while. I was one of the masters at his Academy. But being connected to the infinite and timeless wisdom of the Force has revealed the whole… new timeline… thing, going on."
"Yes, it's a bit of a headache," Obi-Wan agreed. "I have to keep track of what I'm supposed to know for all my appearances. It's very confusing. Darth Maul, particularly…"
He shook his head. "Well. Would you like me to show you the ropes, a little?"
"Perhaps," Kyle mused. "Though I'm sure I'll pick them up sooner or later. I think the main thing that's going to take time is deciding who to appear to."
"Yes, always a concern," Kenobi admitted. "Yoda says it's his turn to show up to Luke, now. He's got something planned involving a lightning strike… I'm not really sure I approve, to be honest. But how do you tell an immortal ghost of a nine hundred year old Jedi Master that they might be doing things wrong?"
Kyle shrugged. "Carefully?" he offered.
"Ah, I can see you've got the wisdom of the Force down," Obi-Wan complimented. "So… tell me. What sort of things did you teach your students? I'm always wondering if I could have done better with Anakin, and just because I'm dead is no reason to stop learning – Yoda has this wonderful explanation about how our physical bodies are the least important part of ourselves."
The New Jedi Order Master frowned, thinking about it.
"Well…" he began. "My best student and the one who didn't Fall even slightly was Jaden, which means that my successful curriculum was… first, the basics."
"Always a good start," Obi-Wan agreed, sagely. "Helmet with a blast shield?"
"Jumping over chasms, knocking down walls," Kyle replied. "Then I moved on to covert ops, high explosives, illegal sniper rifles and the best way to use Force Lightning."
Obi-Wan stared at him.
"...you did say your best student?" he checked, after a long moment.
"He's got a point, Master," Anakin said, coalescing out of the fog of the Force. "You never taught me any of those things, and look where I went."
"The first mission I accompanied Jaden on, we got separated and he killed about fifty Tusken Raiders," Kyle added.
Anakin blinked.
"...okay, did I write your curriculum without actually noticing?" he asked. "Next you're going to tell me there were Noghri involved."
"There were," Kyle said, sounding quite amused. "We actually went on a mission to your old fortress, as well. Or... one of them."
"I do have several," Anakin nodded.
"If you're going to discuss this, please, do leave me out of it," Obi-Wan requested. "Next you're going to say you trained him in using a blaster."
"No, I didn't need to do that, kid was a natural already," Kyle replied. "I did have to show him the controls for the concussion rifle, though…"
