After meeting another one of the Elite Four, our heroes continue on with their journey. Thanks to Simon, he told them where they might be able find the champion of the Grecko, Fauna herself. While they are searching for her, they've stopped to have a nice lunch. Once can't meet the best on an empty stomach.

"Wow. It's so peaceful here." Terra said as she took in the breeze with them standing in the middle of a meadow.

"Stop pretending to be a broken windmill and help the rest of us set some lunch." Davis said. "The sooner we eat, the sooner we can find Fauna. I want to meet her."

"Well, since you asked so nicely..." Terra complained as she came over to help the others.

"Davis, I know you're excited to meet Fauna, but let's not get too ahead of ourselves." Cletsu said. "She might not be here anymore. Even if she is, she might not want to be bothered."

"You just let me worry about that." Davis said. He couldn't wait. He was excited to meet Fauna. What kind of person is she? Will Davis be able to have a battle with her? There's one way to find out.

Through the water, forest, and up in the sky

In the fire, thunder, and right in your heart

There are so many, many, many to find

And I know I can do it

(I can do it)

I know I can catch them all-all-all

(Gotta catch'em all)

So let's go

(Come on)

Oh

Watch me, here I go

Pokemon, here I come

It's destiny calling

I'll give it my all

It's all I can do

(Davis' voice): One With Nature

While the others were getting lunch ready, Imperialdramon decided to do some flying. He flew over the field and was taking it all in. With a clear blue sky, lovely wind, and an open space like this; Imperialdramon feels as free as a bird.

"It's been a long time since I was able to fly around like this." Imperialdramon said. "While Davis and the others get lunch ready, I can fly around and maybe see if I can find Fauna." He searched around the field for anyone, but there was a problem... "Of course, it's easier said than done since I don't have a clue as to what she looks like." Imperialdramon just kept flying around until he noticed something. There was someone there, and it seemed like there were a bunch of pokemon were gathered around that person. "What's going on over there?" He flew over and had a look to see what was going on.

"My... What beautiful creatures you all are." There was a woman there, and she was surrounded by pokemon. This woman had long dark brown and braided hair that held various colored flowers in it. She also wore a forest green dress that draped around her arms like curtains. She had a lot of pokemon gathered around her, and they all seemed so calm and relaxed.

"What the...?" Imperialdramon wondered. He wondered what was going on. He's never seen pokemon and humans so calm and relaxed with each other. It was as if the woman gave no intimidation that the pokemon needed to fear her. She just simply enjoyed their company until she noticed Imperialdramon.

"A new face..." She said as she was able to stand up and went over to greet him. "Hello there." She said as she stood right before him. "My... I've never seen one like you before. You certainly appear to be a fierce and powerful creature, but I also can tell you hold a kind spirit with a heart of gold."

"And some people thought I was just another handsome face." Imperialdramon said.

"Oh my! You can speak like a human!" The woman said. "I've never met a pokemon like you. You are quite a magnificent creature. What are you called?"

"My name is Imperialdramon."

"That's certainly a powerful name. My name is Fauna."

"You're Fauna?!" Imperialdramon said as he couldn't believe it. He actually found her.

...

Davis

"Where's Imperialdramon? He's been gone for quite a while." Terra said.

"Has he?" Davis questioned as he noticed himself. "I guess he has. I told him he could enjoy himself while we were here, but he might have gotten carried away. At his speed, he could have gotten pretty far. I guess we'll have to go look for him." He said as that was going to be a hassle.

"Hold up. Here he comes." Cletus said as he spotted Imperialdramon in the air.

"There you are! What took you?!" Davis called. Imperialdramon landed down, but he wasn't alone. Just before he landed down, Fauna jumped off him. "Who's the passenger?"

"Are you this Imperialdramon's trainer? Are you Davis?" Fauna asked.

"I am. Who are you?" Davis questioned.

"This is who we were looking for! This is Fauna!" Imperialdramon claimed. When he said that, they all couldn't believe it. It was really her standing right before them. Having now meet Fauna herself, they treated her with great hospitality. Cletus even managed to whip up some tea.

"Here you go. I hope it's to your liking." Cletus said.

"Thank you. You're very kind." Fauna said as she accepted the tea. "I hope you don't mind me disturbing your lunch. Imperialdramon said you were looking for me, but I don't wish to be a bother."

"Are you kidding?! How often do you get to sit and have tea with you of all people?!" Terra said. "Oh, I'm sorry for the outburst."

"So, you came all the way out here because you wanted to battle me, Davis? That's what Imperialdramon told me." Fauna said.

"That's what I'm hoping for, but it would be awesome to meet you." Davis said. "Who would want the chance to meet the best trainer in all of Grecko?"

"I wouldn't know about me being the best. At least, I don't see myself as that." Fauna said. "I'm just another trainer that loves pokemon, and I channeled that love through battling because that is what my pokemon wanted."

"What your pokemon wanted?" Davis questioned.

"Of course. My pokemon wanted to battle. I let them have what they wanted." Fauna said.

"Is that how you became the champion?" Terra questioned.

"I suppose. Although, I believe it's because I think I'm more in tuned with nature, at least I believe that I am." Fauna said.

"One with nature? What do you mean?" Terra questioned.

"In order to be strong with your pokemon, I believe you must try to be in sync with them. You don't just get a sense of how they feel or what they think, but you actually can tell." Fauna said. "I've always been amazed by the beauty you find in nature itself. Each and everything I come across in nature holds it's own unique quality, hold something special, or just serves a purpose. Take the grass for example. You all probably thought it was something insignificant or just simply take it for granted. What you probably didn't think of is how it provides nourishment since some pokemon actually eat it. In fact, some humans even find a way to take part in healthy snacks. That's just the mere basis of balanced cycle. There's also how pokemon are so diverse from each other, some possessing abilities others don't have, and how they just have different personalities just like people."

"I guess..." Davis said as he's never really thought of it before.

"These are things I didn't understand when I was younger, but I wanted to know more. The more I saw, the more I began to understand. I tend to focus more on what's around me and appreciate it." Fauna said. "Ever since I was little, I was amazed by the bond and connection we share with pokemon. That's why when I started my journey as a trainer, I spent all my moments in nature and finding various pokemon, each one special and incredible."

'Oh man... The champ of this region sounds like one big hippy.' Davis thought as he was a little disappointed. Not what he expected.

"I'm not sure I fully understand, but I do think I get a general idea." Cletus said. "You're saying that the key to your strength is that you try to make a real connection and understanding of pokemon. Not only do you consider what they desire, but you also make full use of their best qualities."

"Yes. That's one way to put it. Holding a strong connection is how I do things." Fauna said.

"I already knew that. The pokemon I have are my friends, and we all have a good connection." Davis said.

"Not like her, Davis." Imperialdramon said. "You should have seen it when I found her. There were a bunch of wild pokemon gathered around her. None of them had their guard up and were completely comfortable around her. It was as if she was an old friend to each one of them."

"And not one of them were hers?" Terra said.

"But she's just saying stuff that I already know." Davis said.

"Perhaps. It just seems natural to most people that they don't really think about it, but there are some that don't think like that." Fauna said. "It just seems so common to most people that they don't really explore the full depth of it."

"I don't know about that. It just doesn't really seem like there's much to think about. Pokemon are our friends." Davis said.

"Maybe, but some people just don't see things like that, which you probably saw. Perhaps a demonstration might help." Fauna said as she stood up. "You came out here to battle me, did you not? Perhaps a battle might help you see what I'm talking about."

"Oh yeah! Now we're talking!" Davis said as he was excited and ready to go. The two of them stood facing each other as Davis and Imperialdramon are finally getting their chance to battle her.

"Do not be fooled by what I said." Fauna said. "Don't think this means my battling isn't sharp. I didn't become the champion for nothing."

"Of course not. We're ready. I'm sure you'll love to see Imperialdramon in action." Davis said.

"I'm ready." Imperialdramon said.

"And here is my partner. Come out, Komodra!" Fauna called as she made her choice.

"Komodra!" Her partner looked like a giant black and muscular lizard with sharp red eyes and had a red line running from the tip of it's tail and stretched out to it's four limbs

"What is that thing?" Davis said as he used his pokedex.

"Komodra, the Toxic Dragon Pokemon. A poison and fire-type, and the evolve form of a male Salandit. When Komodra bite down on it's prey, it's capable of tracking it down no matter how many days have passed."

"A poison-type and a fire-type? Didn't expect a nature lover like her to have a pokemon where it's types can be destructive to nature." Davis said.

"Another common misconception. Komodra and it's other forms can be quite stunning while others are cautious of them. The same can be true for many other pokemon." Fauna said. "Although, you should be a little cautious in a battle. I wouldn't want your pokemon to be more hurt than they're going to be."

"Don't worry because we're winning. Imperialdramon, Dragon Pulse!" Davis called as he started the battle. Imperialdramon started the battle as he unleashed the blast of dragon energy.

"So he does hold the raw power of a dragon-type. Komodra, Sludge Wave!" Fauna called.

"Komo!" Komodra generated a poisonous wave that was used to block the attack. "Now use Flame Burst!" Komodra shot a ball of fire from it's tail and it combusted against Imperialdramon. "Good. Now, let's try using your Poison Fang!" Komodra attacked with its poisonous fangs, but it was moving rather slow.

"You can dodge that easily!" Davis called. Imperialdramon jumped out of the way and managed to avoid Komodra.

"It's quite fast for a big guy." Fauna said.

"Now use Brick Break!" Davis called.

"Dragon Tail!" Fauna said. Imperialdramon came at Komodra with his attack, but Komodra energized its tail and was able to knocked Imperialdramon away before his attack couldn't even land.

"That was a very powerful attack!" Cletus said.

"Are you okay?!" Davis said.

"That hurt, but I can keep going." Imperialdramon said.

"So let's give them a taste of your Focus Punch!" Davis called. Imperialdramon focused his power and was getting ready to attack.

"Flame Burst!" Fauna said. Komodra launched the attack and blasted Imperialdramon before he could use his own attack could even be used. "Now use Dragon Tail!" Komodra used the attack and smashed his tail against Imperialdramon.

"I don't think I can take much more." Imperialdramon said. It's not good for them, but Komodra and Fauna were enjoying it.

"Let's go big! Imperial Flight!" Davis called. Imperialdramon gathered all the power he could to use his best attack.

"Sludge Wave!" Fauna called. Komodra unleashed the wave and was able to perfectly countered Imperialdramon's attack.

"Why are none of our attacks getting through while hers is clobbering us?!" Davis said. It was bad for them, but Komodra certainly liked it.

"You're having fun. It's been a long time since we faced against a unique opponent." Fauna said. When she said that, Cletus realized something.

"Wait. I think I'm beginning to see what Fauna was talking about earlier." Cletus said. "Komodra is ready to use whatever attack Fauna calls before she calls it. Somehow, Fauna is able to tell what attack Komodra wants to use. On top of that, she's making full use of Komodra's poison-type and fire-type capabilities. She's utilizing all the characteristics of Komodra."

"Yeah. Fauna isn't just getting a feel for what Komodra wants to do, but actually knows. Komodra is also getting ready for the right command. It's like they're able to tell what the other is thinking." Terra said.

"That's why all of their attacks are connecting." Cletus said.

"I'm not beaten yet..." Imperialdramon said as he tried to keep going.

"You are powerful. I've never met another pokemon like you, but that's also because there's something about you." Fauna said. "You seem to hold a strange and mysterious feeling that is unlike any other pokemon." Her saying that made Davis and Imperialdramon a little worried.

'Is she talking about the fact that I'm actually a digimon?' Imperialdramon thought.

'She might be able to see that he's not a full pokemon.' Davis thought. 'She really does seem to be tuned in with nature. If she can tell something like that, there's no way we can win.' Davis could see he can't win this battle. They both stood down and admitted their defeat. Fauna might really be one with nature and that makes her powerful.

...

Later

"It might turn into rocky terrain from here, but Gaios City is through this field." Fauna said as she showed them the way. "I wish you all well."

"Thank you, and it was a great pleasure to meet you, Fauna. Hopefully, we will meet again." Cletus said.

"I wish for that as well. Take care until then." Fauna said. "Davis, you wish to enter the Grecko League. If you win, you will have another chance to battle me. Perhaps you will get stronger and will do better next time."

"Thank you, Fauna. I will." Davis said. Then, all of them got going and were heading into rocky terrain.

Having the great pleasure of meeting Fauna, our heroes gained insight as to how she became so strong. It also gives Davis new insight into the connection between humans and pokemon. He's hoping to battle her again, but he'll have to get to the Grecko League first. So, the journey continues.
