A/N: This is the last chapter that will be covering Jason's and Miguel's respective suspensions. Next chapter will be focusing on their return to West Valley High, which means I'll be skipping the rest of their suspensions.
Disclaimer: I don't own the Karate Kid movies, Cobra Kai or anything else that I might reference.
Party Time
Today was Saturday.
Jason woke up gradually and pulled back the covers on his bed.
Claire had told him that they were being invited to a party by her cousin later today. And that had been yesterday.
Their second movie night had been a success.
Jason looked around his wardrobe and closet, finding a pair of black sweatpants, underwear and a grey t-shirt.
His wallet, phone and keys were where he had left them, on the bedside table in his room.
Jason took his clothes and two towels with him into the bathroom.
He puts the towels on a towel rack before getting undressed and stepping into the shower.
Jason turns on the water and lets it cascade over him.
He has a twenty-to-thirty-minute shower before getting out and drying himself.
Jason gets dressed and carries his towels and pyjamas out of the bathroom.
He put his pyjamas on his bed and folded the towels up before hanging them to dry.
It would probably be a good idea for him to do laundry at some point.
Jason puts on a pair of white socks before putting his wallet, phone and keys in his pockets and walking downstairs.
He walks into the kitchen and takes out a bowl and a spoon before looking for a box of cereal.
Jason opens the box of cereal and fills the bowl before walking to the dining table and sitting down.
He eats his cereal in relative silence.
Jason decides to finish the rest of the cereal and pours it into the bowl.
He eats in relative silence.
When he's finished, he throws out the empty cereal box and cleans the bowl and spoon before putting them away.
Jason walks downstairs to the basement to train.
He plans to train for a bit before hanging out with Hawk and Demetri.
And he also had to get ready for the party that him and Claire had been invited to.
Jason wasn't sure, but Claire had said something about being picked up in a party limo or something.
He would call Claire in between training and hanging out with Hawk and Demetri just to make sure.
….
Jason parked the Dodge Viper in the driveway of Hawk's house.
He gets out of the car and walks to the front door of the house and knocks on it.
There is a slight pause before someone comes to the door and opens it.
"Good morning, Jason. Or should I say "Good afternoon?" Eli and Demetri are downstairs, by the way." Reuben looks out at him.
There is a book tucked underneath the man's arm.
Jason watches as Reuben takes a couple of steps back to let him into the house.
He walks in and closes the door behind him. "Cool."
"It's no problem at all." Reuben walks away.
Jason walks downstairs into the basement of the house.
Hawk and Demetri are sitting on the sofa in the basement.
They make space for Jason as he sits down.
Jason leans back into the sofa. "Claire's cousin invited Claire and I to a party that she's going to. I was just wondering what Claire's cousin is like. And if you've met her before. Seeing as you guys have been friends with Claire for so long."
"Hayley is fairly nice, I guess. Then again, Eli and I only really interacted with her when she was with Claire. And, she might have been different when she was with Claire. If that makes sense." Demetri replies.
Jason frowns. "Right."
"It's pretty cool that you and Claire got invited to a party, though. I don't think Demetri and I ever got invited to parties. And, even if we were, we might not have been entirely welcome. Were you invited to a lot of parties?" Hawk interjects.
Jason nods. "Yeah. I got invited to a few parties. And I turned up uninvited to one or two other parties."
"Cool. You know, you should throw a party at your house. And you could invite the dojo. Along with some other people. Possibly some girls." Hawk suggests.
Jason smiles. "That's a pretty good idea, actually. My house is definitely big enough for me to host a party. The only issue would be when to have it."
"You could have a party before Christmas." Hawk says.
Jason thinks about it before answering. "Yeah. That could work."
"Awesome. So, you're definitely having a party, then?" Hawk asks.
Jason grins. "Duh. Of course, I am."
"You want to watch some TV or play video games?" Demetri asks.
Jason shrugs. "Sure. I'm fine with watching TV."
"Have you ever watched Red Dwarf?" Demetri follows it up with another question.
Jason shakes his head. "I can't say that I have."
"You're going to love it. Honestly. It's very funny." Demetri replies.
Jason nods. "I guess I'll have to take your word for it, then."
"Awesome. You're welcome to have lunch with us, by the way. Seeing as you've got time before the party." Hawk interjects.
Jsaon smiles. "That would be great."
"We kind of knew you'd say that." Hawk says.
Jason scratches his head. "Thanks. I guess."
"The best place to start with Red Dwarf is the beginning. Especially if you've never seen it before." Demetri says.
Jason smiles. "Alright. Let's get started."
Hawk looks around for a Blu Ray of the first season of Red Dwarf and finds it.
Jason watches as Hawk puts the Blu Ray in the Blu Ray player in the basement.
Hawk grabs the remote to the TV in the basement and selects an option to play the first episode before sitting down.
The remote gets placed on the table.
They watch the episode in relative silence.
Jason laughs along with Hawk and Demetri until he gets the jokes enough to laugh himself.
They watch the next episode and are about to watch another episode before they hear footsteps.
Reuben is standing at the top of the stairs leading down to the basement.
"Lunch is ready." Reuben announces.
Hawk pauses the TV before turning it off and returning the Red Dwarf Blu Ray to its case.
Jason and Demetri watch as Hawk puts the Blu Ray case back where he got it from.
Hawk turns his attention back to Jason and Demetri. "Guess it's time to go upstairs, then."
"Yeah. Let's go." Demetri says.
Jason watches as Hawk and Demetri walk up the stairs leading out of the basement.
He follows them up the stairs and notices Reuben waiting for them.
They walk into the kitchen just while Beth is done making lunch.
Lunch was softshell chicken tacos with salsa and a salad.
They take their plates and cutlery before walking into the dining room of the house.
Beth and Reuben sit down at the head of the table while Hawk and Demetri sit across from each other.
Jason sits down beside Hawk.
They eat lunch and talk, with different conversations happening around the table.
Demetri and Hawk clear away their plates and cutlery along with Reuben and Beth.
Reuben returns from the kitchen for Jason's plate and cutlery.
Jason looks at him. "Thanks, I guess. You really didn't have to do that."
"You're our guest and you're welcome any time. And, I'm not sure what happened at your karate dojo, but Eli has come out of his shell quite a bit. So, thank you for that." Reuben answers.
Jason nods. "You're welcome. I'm going to go and say goodbye to Hawk, sorry, Eli and Demetri before I go. I've been invited to a party and I kind of need to get ready for that. And I'll probably get picked up early."
"Like I said, you're welcome here any time. Have fun at the party by the way." Reuben says before he walks away.
Jason walks down to the basement.
He sees Hawk and Demetri sitting on the sofa.
Jason leans against the wall. "I'm going to head home. And I'm going to have a shower and get changed before Claire picks me up. Well, along with Hayley, I mean."
"Have fun. I wish I could go, but I don't normally get invited to parties." Demetri almost jokes.
Jason smiles. "Thanks. Don't worry, you've still got plenty of time to be invited to parties."
"Sure." Demetri retorts.
Jason lets out a chuckle. "You've still got time to be invited to parties. Trust me."
"See you at the dojo on Monday. And have fun at the party." Hawk says.
Jason nods. "For sure."
He turns around and walks up the stairs and out of the basement.
Jason says goodbye to Beth and Reuben before he walks out of the house.
He walks over to his Dodge Viper and unlocks it before getting into the driver's seat.
Jason starts the car and turns on the radio before driving back to his house.
He still had time to have another shower and get ready before Claire and Hayley arrived to pick him up.
….
Jason had time to shower and get changed after getting back to his house.
He was currently wearing blue jeans over boxer shorts, black socks, a plain belt, a Metallica t-shirt and a denim jacket along with black boots. His wallet, phone and keys are in his pockets.
Jason is sitting around watching TV when he hears the doorbell ring.
He turns off the TV and practically runs to open the door.
When he opens the door, he notices Claire standing in front of him.
Claire is wearing white running shoes, grey socks, a blue skirt with a zip down the side and a blue sweater over a blue shirt. And she's more than likely wearing underwear as well, but Jason wasn't sure if he should ask.
There is a pink stretch limo parked at the bottom of the driveway.
"Hey, Jason. Hayley figured that it would be easier to just get a limo. And, she can afford it." Claire says.
Jason nods. "Cool."
"Let's go. Hayley and her boyfriend are the back of the limo. And they're really looking forward to meeting you." Claire replies.
Jason closes the door behind him before making sure that it's locked.
He takes Claire's hand. "It would be rude of me to keep them waiting."
"It probably would be." Claire agrees.
They walk to the stretch limo.
The stretch limo's windows are tinted, so Jason and Claire can't see into it.
Jason looks down at the door. "Do you want to open the door, or should I?"
"I'll open the door. She's my cousin, after all." Claire replies.
Jason watches as Claire opens the door of the limo and gets inside before following her inside.
He closes the door behind him.
Hayley and her boyfriend were sitting in the middle and right side of the backseats of the stretch limo respectively.
Hayley was wearing a pink knee length skirt and a pink shirt underneath a pink jacket and pink shoes.
Her boyfriend was wearing jeans, white shoes and a varsity jacket over a polo neck shirt.
Hayley leans over. "So, you must be Jason? I've heard so much about you. This is Brad, by the way."
"It's nice to meet you both." Jason lets himself get a pat on the shoulder from Hayley before shaking Brad's hand.
Brad looks over at Jason. "I saw that video of you and that other kid in a fight. And it was awesome."
"Thanks." Jason says.
Hayley interrupts. "I think there's a mini fridge in here that's fully stocked with whatever you want. There's even champagne."
"It's good to see that you've gotten everything planned out." Claire remarks.
Jason takes a beer from the mini fridge in the limo. "I wasn't planning on drinking till we got to the party, but I might as well if you're offering."
They were too busy talking to notice that the limo had started.
It wouldn't take too long to get from Jason's house to the party that they'd been invited to.
But they take stuff from the mini fridge in the stretch limo anyway.
….
The stretch limo pulls up outside of a large, opulent looking house.
Brad opens the door on the right side so Hayley can get out while Jason opens the door on the left side so Claire can get out.
Claire and Hayley get out of the limo at roughly the same time before Jason and Brad get out of the limo.
They both close the doors that they got out of behind them.
Hayley walks to the driver's side of the stretch limo and knocks on the window.
Jason, Claire and Brad watch as she talks to the driver for a bit before walking back to where they're standing.
"The driver said that he'll come back later and pick us up. So, you don't have to worry. Come on, the party's going on inside!" Hayley walks up to the house.
Brad follows Hayley.
Jason turns to look at Claire. "I guess we should follow them."
"Yeah. Can't let them have all the fun." Claire agrees.
They walk behind the other couple.
At least until they get to the door of the house.
They stand behind Hayley and Brad.
Hayley rings the doorbell before knocking on the door.
The door is opened after about a minute or so.
Hayley and Brad walk into the house first before Jason and Claire follow them inside.
Jason closes the door behind him.
There are people milling around and music playing.
He looks around the house in awe. "So, who owns the house?"
"Sarah, who's like one of my best friends. Her parents are out of town for the weekend, so she's throwing a party." Hayley answers.
Jason nods. "Cool."
"Well, Claire and I are going to go grab some drinks. Brad's probably going to introduce you to his friends. They've all seen that video, by the way." Hayley says as she's leading Claire away.
Jason gives Claire a wave.
He goes back to looking around the house and the different people walking past him.
Jason looks at Brad. "Do you know where I can get a beer?"
"Sure. And, maybe I'll show you where the real party is." Brad replies.
Jason nods. "Cool."
"Come on." Brad walks through the house.
Jason watches as Brad says hello to different people walking past him.
People say hello to Jason as well.
They walk through the house and go outside to the backyard.
There are some guys around their age standing around.
A barbeque and coolers full of food and alcohol are in front of them.
Loudspeakers are playing hip hop and rap which is a contrast to the more dance-y music playing inside the house.
Jason looks around the group. "Are you going to introduce me or not?"
"Sure thing. Say hello to Scott, Eric, Trey, Mark, and some other people. They've all seen that video of you and that other kid. The karate one." Brad introduces Jason to the rest of the group.
Jason shakes their hands and takes selfies with them when they ask.
They've all seen the video of him and Miguel fighting Kyler and his friends.
Jason takes a beer from the cooler.
He looks around at the group. "So, everyone's seen the video?"
"Yeah. I think a lot of kids our age in the Valley have seen it. You and that other kid really kicked some ass." Brad replies.
Jason nodded. "Thanks. But we can't take all the credit."
"So, you guys had help pulling off those moves?" Scott interjects.
Jason smiles. "Sensei taught us everything we know. So, the credit would go to him."
"And would we know this "Sensei" person?" Eric asks.
Jason shakes his head. "Probably not. Then again, Cobra Kai does have a website. And Sensei happens to be on it."
He goes on his phone and looks up the Cobra Kai website.
Miguel had more than likely updated it because of all the new students that had joined.
There is a photo of Sensei on the Cobra Kai website.
"I think I know that guy!" Brad exclaims.
Jason looks over at him. "How do you know Sensei?"
"He cleaned the gutters at my house a couple of months ago." Brad answers.
Jason nods. "Well, he was a handyman before he opened the dojo. So, that makes sense."
"I'm going to go look for Hayley. You want another beer?" Brad says.
Jason takes a beer from the cooler. "Another beer would be great, actually."
He watches as Brad walks back into the house.
Jason finishes his beer and talks to Brad's friends a little before walking back into the house as well.
He walks into the kitchen and sees Claire pouring and mixing a vodka tonic.
"Hey! So, how are things going outside? I think Hayley and Brad have gone to one of the rooms in this house. Which means that they're probably not going to be heading back down for an hour or so, at least." Claire says.
Jason smiles. "Things are going fine outside. They've all seen the video of the cafeteria fight. And, they're pretty nice for football guys."
He makes himself a rum and Coke before adding ice cubes.
"That's good. Sarah and her friends, Hayley included obviously, are pretty nice. I wouldn't normally hang out with cheerleaders, though." Claire takes a few sips of her drink.
Jason smiles slightly. "Well, I wouldn't hang out with football guys."
"But it's still a fun party." Claire says.
She finishes her drink.
Jason finishes his drink as well. "It's pretty fun."
"Yeah. I'm not sure if other people have said it, but you should have your own party close to the Christmas break. You could invite all the Cobras. And some other people. There are a few people that I'd want to invite as well." Claire suggests.
Jason agrees. "A party would be a good idea. And I'm definitely inviting the Cobras. I'm sure that other people would be invited as well."
"Like Robby and George." Claire says.
Jason looks a little confused. "Who are they? Are they friends of yours?"
"Well, yeah. They're kind of like family to me." Claire replies.
Jason understands. "Oh."
"I've known them since I was a child, more or less." Claire explains.
Jason nods. "Cool. So, you want to have a look around and see if there's pizza or anything like that? I'm pretty sure there is. And maybe we could get some more drinks, too."
"That sounds like a very good idea." Claire agrees.
They leave the kitchen and wander through the house.
And they do manage to find pizza.
Which is a plus.
The rest of the party goes by relatively quickly, too.
