Ch 3: Ground Beta Brawl!

Note: Hey there! I just wanted to answer a quick review I got on the subject of which version of Peter Parker is in this story. While I have much love for the comics I went with a combination of portrayals of Toby, Tom, and Andrew. I'm not sure how good of a job I'm doing attempting to pull it off but this particular Peter is supposed to have my favorite aspects of each actor. Such as Andrew's charisma, Tom's humor, and Toby's intelligence. I've also made slight alterations to Peter's background to fit the story. I hope you guys are enjoying it so far!

This is my first ever time writing a fight so hopefully you guys are as happy with it as I am. Please feel free to let me know what you think.

I do not own any of the characters depicted in this story...

Peter immediately fell into his rhythm. He shot out webs from both hands, sticking them to the side of the nearest building and catapulted himself up to the roof. He let Yaoyorozu lead the way as the pair zipped from building to building as quietly and quickly as possible. The blossoming heroine had created heavy duty suction cup gloves and kneepads and a motorized grappling gun to aid her efforts. Peter was keeping the distance between himself and his partner to a minimum. She had informed him that, while she was familiar with the act of free running, she only did it on rare occasions out of absolute necessity because she had no way to protect herself in the event of a fall. The boy had reassured her that he would keep her safe and that was the only push she needed to go forward.

Peter was sufficiently impressed with his partner's ability to navigate the heights of Ground Beta at such a fluid and speedy pace. It was a feat that required someone to be in peak physical condition. He wasn't afforded the time to admire this as he had to focus.

He was being cautious to not use his webbing whenever possible to avoid leaving any sort of trail that would tip off their opponents to their location. Fortunately, the buildings were closed enough together to jump between them without too much strain or risk. They reached the top of a parking garage and stopped when they heard shouting far off in the distance. The pair looked at each other as Yaoyorozu created a pair of high powered, tactical binoculars. She put them up to her eyes and looked in the direction that the noise was coming from.

Through the lenses she was able to see Bakugo shouting back and forth with Kirishima as they turned the corner from behind a large sky scraper and were headed in their direction. She could barely believe it. They were casually walking right down the middle of the street! She relayed the information to Peter and handed him the binoculars. The webslinger found them almost instantly and began to survey the area around them looking for the best pathway to give Yaoyorozu a perfect surprise attack and the safest jumping distance to the ground.

'There's a good spot.' he thought to himself and handed her back the binoculars. "You see that bank with the concrete awning and huge sign they're walking towards?" He asked while pointing in the direction in question.

She took a look and nodded, "Yeah."

"That's the spot that gives you the best tactical advantage for a surprise attack if you can drop down behind that sign. If you use those buildings to make your way over there, you should be able to avoid their line of sight." He explained, "But you'll have to get moving now to time it right. Give me a signal when you're ready."

"Right!" She nodded before springing into action, leaving the binoculars with Peter.

He watched as his partner masterfully made her way to her vantage point. His foot tapped with anticipation and his heartbeat accelerated. After a couple of minutes he saw what looked like a laser pointer flashing at him from the direction of Yaoyorozu, indicating that she was good to go.

"Alright Peter... Show them. Show them why you're here." He said to himself as he leapt off the top of the building.

"You sure we should just be completely out in the open like this? We could just try to stay out of sight and fight when we need to and just let the clock run out... That wouldn't be very manly though..." The spikey red headed boy said s few paces behind Bakugo.

"A real villain wouldn't just run and hide you moron!" Katsuki yelled. "Besides.. I have a score to settle with that new kid. If he thinks he can just waltz in here and take my spot at the top he's dead wrong! If you wanted to run and hide so damn bad, you should've stayed behind!!" He shouted.

"Re-lax man, I hear ya... but I'm not so sure a head on fight is the best way to go about this. We have no idea how Parker is gonna fight, and Yaoyorozu's been training hard. I see her in the school gym almost every day." Kirishima responded nonchalantly as if Bakugo hadn't just screamed at him. The hardening hero has grown accustomed to his best friend's brash nature. Still, he had to try to keep him level headed enough to fight.

"If I knew you were just gonna kiss their asses the whole time, I would've left you behind!!!" The blonde headed boy shouted in response. His tone was getting louder by the sentence. Suddenly, he actually lowered his voice. "Just so we're clear, Parker's mine. You can deal with the girl. Got it?!"

Kirishima was about to respond as he caught something red out of the corner of his eye. He sighed, "Welp... Looks like you're about to get your wish." He knew there was no other course of action to take now.

Peter came swinging into view, landing a backflip onto the horizontal rail of a street light with pinpoint precision. He fixed his eyes on his opponents in the middle of the road. Both Bakugo and Kirishima stared him down as the blonde gritted his teeth.

"Wow, yelling and screaming in the middle of the street, letting everyone know exactly where you are... A bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pays off for him." Peter quipped.

Bakugo boiled over immediately. "WHY DON'T YOU COME DOWN HERE AND TRY TO RUN YOUR MOUTH?!?! WE'LL SEE HOW WELL IT WORKS OUT FOR YOU!!"

'Well that was easy...' Peter thought to himself remembering his part of Yaoyorozu's plan. "Why? Can't you get up here? No, no, no, I'm actually looking for a challenge big guy, not a playdate with an angry child throwing a temper tantrum." He turned his attention to Kirishima, "How bout you big red, wanna go a few rounds?" He said dismissing the hot headed hero-in-training.

That did it. The ever shortening fuse had finally met the powder.

Kirishima tried to calm his partner. "Easy Bakugo... Don't let him get in your he-"

"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU SAY YOU SPANDEX WEARING PIECE OF GARBAGE?!?!!?!?!??!!?! I'LL KILL YOU!!!!!" Katsuki screamed as he pointed his crackling palms towards the ground.

"You're funeral dude." Peter shrugged, "Come on tough guy, take your best shot... but I'm warning you..."

"rrrrrrrRRRRRAAAAAAAUUUUUUGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!" Bakugo roared dripping with pure rage as large explosions from his palms shot him towards Peter at a break-neck pace.

"Ya better not waste it." Peter finished as he dropped down, grabbing onto the pole he was standing on with both hands. He swung himself up and around it like a gymnast and launched himself into Bakugo's stomach feet first, sending him flying in the opposite direction with his arms and legs stretched out in front of him.

Katsuki soared down the street, his body smacking the ground multiple times as he continued to roll. It was, by far, the most painful blow the boy had ever been dealt before. He pulled himself off the asphalt with a crazed look in his eyes. He wanted blood. He shook of the pain and his palms began to crackle with small, rapid bursts of light.

"Pretty sure I heard a rib crack there. You sure you want to keep going?" Peter called out mockingly as he began to swing towards him.

"THE ONLY THING THATS GONNA CRACK IS YOUR SKULL!!!" Bakugo yelled in response as he readied himself to counter the impending attack.

However, Peter had other plans as he swung down an intersection to the right. "Let's take this somewhere a little more private!" He shouted to the angry blonde on the ground.

"HEY!!! GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE!!!" He screamed as he shot off in pursuit.

Kirishima just looked on frozen in place. "H-he's so fast and powerful! How the hell am I supposed to even lay a finger on him?!" He said to himself as he watched Bakugo blast off after his opponent, shouting obscenities. He shook his head, "There's no sense in trying to talk I'm out of fighting now. I've never seen him this wound up before. My best bet is to find Yaoyorozu and try to take her out. She can't be too far behind."

He looked up and down the streets. Nothing. He continued down the road, looking down each alley. No sign of her. He turned around sharply as paranoia crept its way into his mind. "Man, I've got a bad feeling about this..."

Kirishima fished in his pockets and pulled something out. All of the sudden he heard a sound behind him.

As he spun around he found himself eye level with a flashbang inches from his face. "Ah crap..." He gripped the object he had pulled from his pocket to his chest and with his free hand, he shielded his eyes. As the canister exploded he was covered with a sticky web that pinned him to the ground.

The observation room was in a state of shock. The power of their new classmate was shown briefly and it left a lasting impression on the slackjawed spectators.

"Did you guys see that kick?!" Shouted Kaminari in obvious surprise.

"The tenacity to get back up after taking a hit like that is... Astounding!" Tokoyami said wide eyed as he trembled slightly.

"He has to have at least one broken rib after that... Not to mention some serious road rash." Jiro said in disbelief that Bakugo was back up on his feet.

"He moves just like I do!... Well, kinda." Sero pointed out

"Yeah but he makes it look way cooler... No offense." Joked Mina.

"None taken! I'd be lying if I said I could do better. Maybe I'll butt in on a couple of his training sessions sometime." The taping hero said enthusiastically.

"Uhh... guys? Whys he running away?" Asked Toru confused.

"He's not running *ribbit ribbit, he's splitting up Bakugo and Kirishima!" Tsu pointed out.

"Yaoyorozu's about to make a move. It would seem that this is part of their strategy. This could give them the edge in this fight." Aizawa said intensely. "Take this as an opportunity to learn something. It's never a good idea to charge into a fight with no plan whatsoever. Especially when you don't know exactly what you're up against."

"You seem confident in your new student Aizawa. You've done your homework on young Parker haven't you?" Questioned All Might.

"I've done some digging." The long haired man admitted, "but that's just basic knowledge for anyone hoping to become an effective pro hero."

All eyes returned to the screen as the battle continued on.

Momo hopped down from her hiding spot and created a metal bo staff. Twirling it in one hand, a determined look in her onyx eyes, she got into a combat stance and approached her trapped victim with caution. She had noticed him pull an object out of his pocket before being captured but was unable to identify it from a distance.

She took a few steps closer. "What do you have in your hand?!" She barked.

"Aughhh!!! What the heck is- is this Parker's web?! How the hell did you do that?" Kirishima asked as he struggled to try to free himself but to no avail.

"What did you pull from your pocket?!" Momo shouted again, unwilling to change the subject.

Kirishima grinned from underneath the web which made Momo uneasy. "Well, it's either my way out of this mess, or it's really really really stupid. Fair warning, you may wanna back up. Bakugo didn't exactly tell me how strong this was."

Momo's eyes widened in immediate realization. 'A grenade!!' she quickly made a riot shield and braced herself.

BOOM!!!

Kirishima was shot out of his binds in the opposite direction of Yaoyorozu, his body hardened to the max of his current capabilities. He brushed off the shrapnel from his chest. "I honestly have no idea who thought it was a good idea to give him those..." He said as he got into a fighting stance.

Momo tossed the riot shield to the side, spun her staff around, and readied herself for a fight. It was time to see the results of her training.

Peter zipped through the air acrobatically, leading Bakugo further and further away from his teammate. So far, everything was going exactly according to Yaoyorozu's plan. He eventually decided that he was now far enough away to continue his fight.

He slowed his pace just enough for Bakugo to close the distance between them before swinging himself into a backflip over top of his opponent who was reaching out to grab him. Before Katsuki could react to the evasive maneuver, Peter shot strings of web with both hands that latched onto his back. With a powerful jerk he swung the blonde over his shoulder with unbelievable strength. The hot head's back smashed against the ground hard, creating cracks in the road upon impact. In one fluid motion, Peter shot his webs to the ground on both sides of Bakugo and used them to slingshot himself down into the chest of his opponent feet first once more as he bounced off of the concrete. The power of his attack knocked the wind out of the blonde as he was forced back against the pavement.

Bakugo roared in frustration as he rolled out from under his opponent and kicked his feet out from under him. As Peter began to fall, the raging teen latched a hand to his wrist and swung him around, propelled by explosions from his free hand, and sent Parker flying into the side of a building. Peter didn't even have time to think as Bakugo exploded towards him and landed a haymaker to the side of his face, shattering one of the lenses of his mask. Katsuki reared his arm back to deliver another blow, but Peter ducked behind him and smacked his face against the wall. He grabbed Bakugo by the back of his tank top and flung him into the road. He quickly ripped his mask off and tossed it aside, preparing himself for another attack as the blonde stumbled back to his feet.

Peter felt blood beginning to trickle down the side of his head. This guy just didn't know when to quit. Just as the two were about to charge each other again, a loud explosion was heard coming from the area where they had left their teammates.

'That didn't sound like part of the plan...' Peter worried to himself.

'Dammit! Kirishima must be having trouble if he actually used that grenade.' Bakugo deduced. 'Worthless.'

Both boys knew they couldn't keep dragging out this fight. They had to end it. Now.

In Peter's concern for his partner, he felt a tingle in his brain. He turned his attention to find Bakugo inches from his chest with his finger pulling one of the pins from one of his gauntlets. There was no dodging this. He was too close. Peter shielded his face with his forearms as a massive blast of fiery explosion sent him flying through the wall of the building behind him.

"ha... ha ha...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Bakugo laughed as he tried to catch his breath. The pain from his ribs made itself known. He staggered towards the dark hole in the wall attempting to confirm his victory. Unbeknownst to him, Peter had picked himself up off the ground and was backing up slowly. A pair of webs each stuck to a couple of heavy pillars that supported the building became more tense with each step backwards.

Bakugo inched closer. It was too dark to see anything. Almost in an instant, he was suddenly flying backwards, slamming into the wall of the building across the street. Before he could register what had happened, he noticed that he couldn't move. Something was holding him in place. He looked at his gauntlets and boots through the aches and pains and found them covered in webs. He looked up to see Parker holding the side of his body as he stood victorious.

"Get comfortable. You're not gonna be going anywhere any time soon." Peter said as he winced. He shot up amongst the rooftops in the direction of his teammate.

As he swung away, Bakugo clinched his teeth. He wouldn't be outdone that easily, not when he was so close to putting the new kid in his place. He slipped off his gauntlets and boots, leaving them webbed to the wall behind him. He was free. He staggered after Peter, who already had a large head start on him.

Yaoyorozu was fighting the fight of her life so far. And fighting it very well at that. But how do you beat a seemingly indestructible opponent when running isn't an option? She had to use every bit of her training and all of her wits. The best option was to put her faith in Peter's ability to win his fight and hold out long enough to buy him the time he needed in order to come to her aid. Kirishima wasn't making it easy on her though... His hardened exterior negated her attacks but she continued to apply the pressure, keeping her opponent on his back foot as she peppered him with her staff.

She was holding her own quite well, even landing a few counter strikes here and there. Her confidence boost she received before the exercise was spurring her forward. With each punch Kirishima threw, Momo had an answer. Nothing he tried was working. Not a single strike finding it's target, but unlike his partner, he was a good sport.

"Wow Yaoyorozu! I can't believe how much stronger you've gotten!"

"Hn." She smirked as they hopped away from each other to gain a short reprieve. "Thanks. You seem to be putting in your training as well." She complimented as her composure refused to change. 'Damn! Not one attack has even scratched him.' she thought to herself. With every single strike she focused on attacking vital areas of her foe. Kirishima lunged towards her and swung a right hook.

Momo stepped out of harms way and cracked the boy in side of the face with the back side of her staff. She continued her counter by spinning her staff around and slammed it into the gut of Kirishima. She finished her flurry by sending her foot firmly into the outside of the boys kneecap causing him to stagger backwards.

Her eyes widened as the boy tried to regain his posture. 'Wait... Is that what I think it is?!' she thought as she noticed the small cracks on the boys cheek where her weapon had connected.

'He's getting tired! If I can just keep on the offensive I can win this!!!' the raven black haired girl thought excitedly as she charged her opponent relentlessly.

'Damn it! I can't keep this up! At this rate I'm done for! That damn stick is really starting to hurt and hardening enough to protect myself from that grenade really took a lot out of me.' the human shield hero began to panic as he desperately tried to withstand the young heroines attacks.

Yaoyorozu stepped it up a notch, refusing to let up. She had him exactly where she wanted him. As Kirishima reared back to deal a heavy blow, another web grenade was created from her calf. This time however, she had modified it to explode at a certain level of impact... No pin required. She dodged her foe's last ditch effort and swept his legs from under him with her staff.

As he was knocked off balance, he felt her foot make solid contact with the center of his chest, sending him crashing into the side of a nearby car. Before he could get back to his feet, the cunning young lady flicked the grenade with the bottom end of her staff, squarely into his chest, exploding on impact. This time there would be no escape from the web. She had done it. All on her own, she had defeated a more than formidable adversary.

Just as she was slapping a pair of capture cuffs on Kirishima's wrists, she saw Peter swinging around the corner. Her heart jumped as he let go of his web and jogged towards her. As he approached she got a good look at his condition her smile disappeared into worry. His costume was tattered. Holes and singes covered his shoulders and chest. His mask was gone, revealing the cuts around his face including a slightly deeper one just above one of his eyebrows. Blood had dropped and dried down his cheek. She ran over to him. "Oh my gosh Peter!! Are you okay?!"

"I'm fine Yaoyorozu.. I'll just probably be a little sore tomorrow." He assured her, "I actually came back to ask you the same thing. I heard an explosion over here... Care to fill me in?"

"Oh right, long story short, Bakugo left Kirishima with a grenade and he used it to break free from my initial capture attempt."

Peter looked over at the car plastered with web. "Nice work! We make a heck of a team! Your plan was brilliant!"

"Well, I have you to thank for that. The model on that index card you gave me really helped make this outcome possible." She beamed.

"Hey don't give me too much credit. You being able to make things that complex on the fly is an art form to say the least. Without your skill that card is really just the scribblings of a madman." He joked.

She laughed at his humor and smiled proudly.

"So I guess that means we win right?" He asked unsure of what to do next. Before she could respond, the tingle in his brain returned.

"NOT ON YOUR LIFE YOU BASTARD!!!!" Came a scream from above them.

They looked up to see Bakugo falling out of the sky right above them with both palms pointed in their direction.

Peter, acting on pure instinct, swept Yaoyorozu up and zipped away with a quick shot of his web. They just barely managed to escape the gigantic explosion that, unbeknownst to all of them, had compromised the structures of multiple buildings in the immediate area. This fight was very much still alive... He sat Momo down and charged.

Peter leapt into the air and Bakugo followed suit. He needed to come up with something fast. He was running out of steam. He sprinted straight up the wall of the tallest building with Katsuki hot on his tail. He shot himself upwards with his webs and reached the top. A smaller battleground was more than ideal for another round of close combat if he was going to finish this fight for good. He crouched down and placed his palm to the surface as Bakugo landed in front of him. He was barefoot and without his gauntlets. No more big blasts. No more tricks.

As fists began to fly, Momo was stuck on the ground fretting to herself. Just how long could Peter keep fighting with the injuries he had sustained? And how bad were they? She had to be proactive and help him somehow. Thinking quickly, she created another grappling gun and one final web grenade. She pulled the pin with her teeth as she zipped up to the rooftop battle ground. Using her momentum, she launched herself over the edge of the roof and threw the capture device, striking the ground at Bakugo's feet. The grenade busted and Katsuki's feet were webbed to the ground.

The blonde was caught off guard. He didn't expect her to be able to get up there. Peter noticed the small window of opportunity open and spin kicked him in the side of the head leaving him dazed long enough for Yaoyorozu to place the capture cuffs on his wrists. It was finally over.

A robotic voice came over the loud speakers found throughout the city, "Hero team Yaoyorozu and Parker... WINNERS!"

Katsuki spat on the ground in disgust as both Momo and Peter smiled at each other as they bent over with their hands on their knees trying to catch their breath. Just as they stood up, something that would change their paths and lives forever happened.

The foundation of the building shifted, a delayed aftermath of Bakugo's attempt at a sneak attack. Momo, who was at the edge of the building, lost her footing and began to plummet towards the ground.

"YAOYOROZU!!!!!!!" Peter and Katsuki screamed as Peter sprinted off the edge where she had fallen. Bakugo was still held in place by the webs and could only watch and hope that Peter would save her.

Momo screamed in terror as she fell. She knew the height was more than lethal. If she hit the ground it would be all over. Her life would meet an untimely end. Fear, desperation, and helplessness were all that she knew in that moment until she saw a flicker of hope getting closer and closer.

Peter had dove straight off the top of the building and straightened his body into a perfect 180 degree angle, picking up speed as if he were shot out of a cannon. He closed the distance between him and Momo and wrapped her in his arms. He maneuvered himself between her and the ground, holding her tightly with one arm. As she latched onto him for dear life, he shot a web against the wall of the building he had jumped from and slowed their fall down to a manageable speed before landing safely on the ground.

And there he stood, holding her bridal style as relief slowly replaced the fear in both of their hearts.

They both gazed into the eyes of the other, their chests heaving heavily. "I told you I'd keep you safe." He said, fulfilling his promise to her he made at the very beginning of the exercise.

She couldn't breathe. She couldn't look away. Speechless, she wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face into his chest.

HERE'S THE PREVIEW!!!

Peter: "Our battle wrapped up exactly the way I thought it would... minus the whole almost falling to your death thing... You doing okay after that Yaoyorozu?"

Yaoyorozu: *stares dreamily at Peter.

Peter: "Hopefully that means... yes?"

Ashido: "Hey you two! Hurry up and quit making out in the infirmary! We're all going out to eat together!"

Yaoyorozu: *continues to stare dreamily at Peter

Peter: *rubs back of neck. "Is she okay?"

Jiro: "I don't know, I've honestly never seen her act like this..."

Ashido: "Hey Parker! Mind putting a bow on this thing, I'm starving here!"

Peter: "Sure thing! Next time!!!! Hospitality!!!!

Jiro: "Parker's about to get a kiss from someone not named YaoMomo."

Peter: "Do what now?!"

Yaoyorozu: *still staring

Ashido: "Wow I don't even think she's blinked yet... GO BEYOND!!!"

Class 1A in unison: "PLUS ULTRA!!!"

Peter: "No seriously, what?!... Guys?!... I have concerns!..."
