Chapter 3: The Date

5/4 7:25 In a random apartment.

A couple in their 30s were reading a newspaper in the living room. On the front page was Touma Kamijou kissing the 9th Holder Minene Uyruu. "To think 9th would get a kiss from some random teenage boy."

"Yes, dear, quite unexpected. Though, First did manage to hurt her."

"By the way, how is Tsubaki doing these days?" The male adult asked his girlfriend.

The girlfriend was silent before finding her words and was looking down at the floor. "She's been better, I'll be assisting her with something tomorrow. Oorin will be there too."

At the cathedral of Casuslity.

Muru Muru was reading a newspaper regarding the 9th Holder. She was laughing her head off. "To think that terrorist woman got her first kiss from a teenager!" She was rolling around laughing even more. "That bet that put nail in her ego!"

DEUS just stared at the scene on a pop-up screen. "Quite the turn of events I'd say. Although, these newcomers are quite new. Especially that Kamijou kid, I'd never seen such bravery and the speech he declared as something I never witnessed in years."

Muru put her finger to the chin. "Yeah, he and his friends could make things entertaining especially for our guests." She thought with a sneaky smirk.

At an unknown orphanage in Sakuarami City

A brown-haired teenage boy wearing goggles was reading the newspaper about Kamijou, but, what caught him the most was the speech that he declared to 9th. He scoffed. "That flowery speech that scrawny punk blabbed out...makes me sick."

"I don't think so, I think he's quite handsome." A brown-haired teenage girl approached with rice cakes. "Not only that, he stood up against 9th without even a sigh of hesitation. Plus, First was able to hurt 9th so she should be slowing down."

A large woman with black hair and a chef's outfit was looking from the porch. "Children, breakfast is ready, come in."

At a 3LDK Apartment which had four floors, they were all on the fourth floor.

Touma was resting in his bedroom thinking about the previous day.

Touma's POV

"Aiho and her friends were given a chance to stay there. Aiho got some payment for her friend's assistant and saved the hostages. "To think this apartment would give us for award. I guess I owe Kurusu for his help." She was preparing to get in the police outfit she was given by Nastuko.

Uiharu and Saten were offered to work at the Police Station. Uiharu was a computer expert so when she was asked to look for a certain criminal or person, she would use her skills to find details. Saten was given the position as her assistant and made coffee for them. Aiho was working as a partner for Nishijima.

"Tsuchimikado was asked by Kurusu to work undercover for anything suspicious like finding out secrets that the other Future Diary Holders might have. He was driving through the city and on the passenger seat was a sheet of paper. However, he's doing some shopping for today.

Orsola was at the apartment researching the city's locations. "To study these locations, we'll need to know what routes to take and what shortcuts we can use to our advantage." She had a journal of the late professor that once run the island domain. "I wonder if there's more to the professor's story. I know Academy isn't the kind of people that would things get out of control and whatever the professor had in those stasis pods must've been important for him to keep hidden for 30 years."

Index was helping her while having some small cookies for a snack but was eating due to frustration. "Touma..." She growled lying beside a newspaper that showed Touma kissing Minene on the lips.

Kanzaki was doing some training to prepare for any upcoming battles and Itsuwa trained with her using their weapons. Secretly, they were hoping to gain improvement so they protect the boy they care for deeply. "C'mon, is that all you got?"

"No, I'm just getting warmed up!"

Misaka was sitting in her bedroom taking in what she learned so far.

F

Earlier at 7:00 AM

Misaka was chatting with Saten and Uiharu in the living room about the Survival Game. "To think that young boy is part of this dangerous game," Misaka said looking uneasy.

Uiharu felt the same way. "Yeah, I mean I never knew Gods, actual ones could exist in this world. According to Yukiteru and Yuno, they said the one that designed the game was this DEUS dude."

Saten was a little fantasized. "Well, I would like to meet this God, I mean he's like an urban legend and one that is real like the Undress tress!"

Misaka huffed. "Saten, this isn't a game, it's a battle for survival. Also, I got a feeling that there will be other Diary Holders coming at Yukiteru and Yuno."

Uiharu nodded her head. "Yeah, I'll be looking into the backgrounds of anyone we come across." She then walked over to her friends and took out two maps. "Also, I'll give you these maps, Mr. Kurusu gave them to me so we can memorize them whenever we need them."

Saten had one more thought to share. "The main question is, what Holder will come after Yuki and Yuno?"

F

Misaka then sat on her bed. "This war is probably going to be the most difficult one. The good news is, that we aren't Diary Holders ourselves, but, that doesn't mean the enemies won't come after us if they need to." Then a ringtone was heard on her cellphone. "Hello, Mikoto Misaka speaking..." After a few seconds, her face became flustered. "Say what?"

At a local amusement park

2:34 PM

Yukiteru and Yuno were at the restaurant having a drink. "So, this is a date." He recalled his conversation with Kurusu. "9th is likely on the loose somewhere, I'm not sure when she'll make her move considering the injury on her eye. However, we can't risk it so the both of you will go on assignment to see if she'll make a move. Plus, you won't be going alone."

They went through a haunted mansion. "Scary..." Yuno muttered clinging onto Yukiteru's shoulder, who was just as scared. More ghouls and witches gave the two teenagers a jump scare.

Once they were out, Yukiteru was quite surprised to see a scared side of Yuno. "This must be when she's scared." He thought. "I wonder if Touma and Misaka are doing well."

Touma was wearing a white shirt with a black jacket and jeans. Misaka was wearing brown shorts with a black shirt and a cap. "Damn it, what was Saten and Uiharu thinking?"

Touma felt rather awkward than ever but felt like deja vu. "Kind of reminds me of when you asked me to sign the contract for Geketoa." He joked despite not laughing.

Misaka growled at the high school boy. "Hey, that was just because I won the penalty game. Plus, this is just for a mission to drag that crazy chick that you kissed, you idiot!"

"C'mon, she pulled me with her, so, get angry at her not me!" The boy argued though, that wasn't the only thing that got him ticked off. "Plus, someone from the school had the nerve to take a picture of that scene! Rotten luck!"

Misaka couldn't forget that, the moment she read the newspaper and saw a photo of Touma and Minene's lips locked together was something she could never overlook. Kurusu mentioned to her that Minene will be pissed off by the newspaper and want to kill Touma because it might have shot her ego.

Touma and Misaka were riding on a roller coaster. "Yay!" The two teenagers were screaming at the speed and went upside down. They got off, and Touma felt a little dizzy while holding his stomach. "Geez, I'm glad I didn't eat yet..."

Misaka backed away a little. "Don't barf on me, idiot!" She cringed comically in disgust.

Saten was secretly watching from afar. "C'mon, Misaka, make a move on him. Otherwise, those other girls expect Yuno will." She remembered the time she first met Touma and realized he was the boy to whom Misaka owed her life.

Inside a water park domain

Yukiteru and Yuno were taken a swim in the river pool. Yukiteru felt rather awkward especially when he can see Yuno's bikini. He recently went inside to enjoy the cooling water. "This ain't too bad."

"Yuki...this suit feels tight..." Yuno commented fixing her top only that it made her boobs bounce causing her crush to turn his head away hiding his blushing face.

Despite the awkwardness, he decided to make a conversation. "Did you know this one of the places that people have bathroom accidents?" Realizing that his question just made things more awkward. Then he noticed Yuno was acting strange. "Uhh...my top fell off."

Yukiteru was flustered and realized she was right seeing the top floating downstream. "Crap...hold on, I'll get-" He felt his wrist grabbed. "Wait, you can't leave me here, someone will see me." Yukiteru knew she had a point, luckily a lifeguard was nearby. "Umm, excuse me, my friend lost her top, could you get it?"

"Sure thing." The female employee acknowledged.

A female swimmer accidentally bumps into Yuno causing her to bump into Yukiteru's body. She wraps her arms around his body causing her boobs to press against his chest. "Uhh...Yuno...I can't..."

"Wait, if you move I'll be exposed..." Yuno whimpered.

Yukiteru wasn't expected to be this side of her. "First her scared side and an embarrassing side." He felt her boobs press hard against his torso flushing his face even more.

The lifeguard returned with Yuno's top and she put it back on only to notice that Yukiteru was floating away due to fainting.

Touma and Misaka were in the plantation seeing the stars and planets that were hanging from the ceiling. "Quite the sight."

"No kidding, it's like we're in space for real," Touma commented remembering his mission in space during the incident involving Arisa a talented street musician who wanted to create music for her fans and friends.

Misaka had a thought. "I wonder if those monsters that were in those stasis pods are here." Touma wondered that too. "Who knows, they could have magic or esper abilities too." He had another thought. "Besides that, this survival game feels so wrong. I know whoever wins becomes a God, but, it is really necessary?"

Misaka noticed her crush's concerned look. "Hey, is something on your mind?" Touma looked at the railgun girl. "Oh, it's nothing, I just think this survival game is nothing compared to the craziness we had to face."

Misaka had to agree for once. "Yeah, I mean, these Future Diary Holders are going to hunt each other down and whoever is last standing is the winner." She had another thought. "I wonder what other Holders Diaries will be like rather what kind of people will these other Holders be?" She had a determined look as she took hold of Touma's hand without realizing it surprising him. "Well, whatever is thrown at us, we'll kick their butts to next week. Our friends will surely help us including Yuki and...Yuno."

Touma nodded. "Yeah, Yukiteru is a nice guy. As for Yuno, she seems nice I think."

"You plan on making moves on her?" Misaka inquired suspiciously. Touma jumped comically. "No, no, not at all! Plus, what does it matter to you if I was?"

Misaka huffed at the question. "Just asking, nothing else." She couldn't help but feel somewhat jealous, even though, Yuno's chest size wasn't as big as the other girls that Touma was friends with. "Damn, why am I getting so worked up by those other girls?"

Saten giggled teasingly. "Well, this isn't what I expected but its a start."

At the Sakurami Police Station

Kurusu was having a break time in the lounge and with him was Aiho, who was drinking coffee and donut. "I must admit this station knows how to make coffee." Aiho took a sip of her coffee.

Kurusu had a question for the agent woman. "I have a question, I read in the newspaper about Touma's speech against 9th, did he mean what he said?" Aiho was a little puzzled at the question. "Of course, I mean, I know his teacher Komoe, who's a friend of mine. She would mention Touma's kindness and how he knows what to do to help someone. He told me of a friend that wasn't normal, and what Komoe told me what Touma made me glad to hear."

"Even if Hyouko was some person that could disappear, I could never let anyone hurt her." Komoe imitates Touma's words.

Aiho had a proud smile. "I heard that boy helped out a lot of people whether they were strangers or someone he knew. Honestly, I can't put my finger on it much, he's the kind of guy that likes to help."

Kurusu looked away like he was hiding something. "Is that so, I wonder when things get more dire he'll just ditch and run." He muttered his words so Aiho couldn't hear him but she did his hear his muttering. "Excuse me?"

Kurusu realized what he said and recollected himself. "Uhh...it's nothing, just thinking..." He then lit a cigarette and inhaled his breath at the tip. He slowly blew smoke. "Anyway, how are things going with Uiharu?"

"She's on a roll, she's checking out a report on some place called the Omekata," Aiho replied. "According to the report, something is happening there."

Kurusu smiled a little. "I see..."

Aiho had a question of her own. "Also, Uiharu read there was some kind of innocence a few months ago regarding the death of two adults, have you heard about it?" Kurusu had a sudden curiosity linger upon him. "I think heard about that, but, the report said that it was an accident involving a damaged engine that caused the adults' car to break down and drive off a cliff."

Uiharu was sitting on a couch taking a break while drinking some orange juice and a turkey sandwich. "Saten, I wonder if she's spying on Touma and Misaka. She has been trying to make sure those two have fun and become...one..." She felt utterly flushed saying that. She quickly shook her head. "Just be glad that Shirai isn't here, though, I wonder if she and the others that were left behind in our world are safe. No doubt, they're worried about us."

Tsuchimikado was walking through the street after doing some more shopping. "I hope this will last us until we get another paycheck." He looked around the street. "Hmm...sounds like the area is being investigated. Guess they might've spotted that 9th chick around." He couldn't help but feel a little envious. "Damn Kamijou, that bastard has a way of picking up women. Now, he gets his first kiss from a terrorist lady, talk about a bum for me at least."

He walked down a little further and came across a unique household. "Hm, what's this place?" He read the address sign. "Gasai Household...that's Yuno's last name." He felt something strange within the area. "Feels like nobody hasn't lived here for months so quiet in there."

Yukiteru and Yuno approached the planetarium. "Whoa, this is the planetarium, what do you say we check it out?" Yuno suggested as she noticed a disapproved look on her crush's face.

"No, this place isn't my thing..." Yukiteru walked ahead without looking back leaving a confused Yuno.

They went on a Ferris wheel. The two sat down not making a sound, until Yukiteru decided to break the silence. "Yuno, why do you keep following me around?"

Yuno had a question of her own. "Why do you avoid the planetarium? Do you hate the stars?"

Yukiteru just understood the question. "Why does that have to do with-" Yuno abruptly stood up. "Is that what you liked, you wanted to go see the stars for a long time."

At school year ago

5/10

"I remember I left in class after school to write a survey about what I wanted to do in the future." Past Yuno approached Yukiteru who was pondering what to write down himself. "What'd you write down?"

She read what the boy wrote down. "I want to go stargazing with my family" She smiled sweetly at the boy. "Oh, that sounds like fun."

Yukiteru had a gloomy look on his face. "Yeah, but, last week my parents divorced, so they couldn't keep their promise to buy me a telescope." He took his eraser. "Ahahaha... it's very strange, I'll just erase it."

Yuno felt utterly bad for the boy as she grabbed his hand. "It's not strange at all." Yukiteru looked at her for a moment as his present self was remembering the day he first talked to the girl. "I remember that time we were doing a survey, she approached me and talked to me for the first time."

"Well, we go see the stars together if you want. There's an observatory close to my house." Yuno offered with a smile.

Yukiteru wasn't sure despite the friendly offer. "It wouldn't be the same without my family." Yuno gave him an annoyed look. "C'mon, don't be so negative." She took the pencil and began to ride something else down which was something that Yukiteru wasn't expecting. He looked at it. "I will become Yukiteru's future bride"

Yukiteru looked at the girl awkwardly. "I thought she was just joking at the time." Despite that, he decided to go with it. "Well, we'll have to wait until we're older." Hearing that made Yuno feel somewhat hopeful.

F

Yukiteru could understand why Yuno wanted to be his side, though, something about her was still lingering at the back of his mind. "That was just a random moment, wasn't it?" Yuno didn't respond. "I can tell that you're a sweet girl, but, I get the feeling that you're hiding something."

Yuno approached him placing her hands on the boy's shoulders. She leaned and kissed him on his forehead earning a blushing from the boy. "Yukki..darling..." She was likely ignoring the words that her crush said. Yukiteru couldn't hide his blush red hue, but, he couldn't help but feel his heartbeat.

It was night fall.

In some random dirt path, the police continued their search for Minene Uyuru. "I heard she was sighted here!"

"Yeah, no doubt, she's still nearby, especially with her injury."

The 9th Holder was hiding behind a long fence and a large rock. "Damn it, those pigs are close by."

"Did you hear that some random teenager kissed the terrorist lady?" Hearing that question made Minene flinch violently.

"Yeah, I also hate to admit, but, I feel jealous. It's not every day we guys get our first kiss with a lady."

Minene was pissed off about that other than her injured eye. "That little bastard humiliated me! When I find him, I'll make him wish he had never crossed paths with me." She turned to leave until she heard faint footsteps. A tall man was putting his hand gesturing her not to make a peep. "Who are you?" 9th asked cautiously ready to make a move.

"I wouldn't, the police are nearby." The man suggested keeping his hand out.

Minene couldn't help but feel a little strange, but before she could relitate the man held up by her arm. "Shush...I'm here to help and considering your options, you might not have a choice." Minene was barely able to fight back for some reason, so she had no choice but to help her.

Uiharu was back at her apartment with Saten, who returned early.

"How was their date?" Uiharu asked.

Saten put her finger to her chin with a playful expression. "I admit there were some complications, but, other than that, I think they had a great time. As for Yukiteru and Yuno, I think things went pretty well."

Orsola and Index were having spaghetti with meatballs and herbal tea with a side of water. Index was chowing on the food like a hungry wolf. "So good!" She spoke.

"Careful, don't talk with food in your mouth," Orsola warned with a smile. "I wonder if Touma and Misaka are on their way home from their date."

Index coughed roughly wiping her mouth. "Cough...cough...listening they aren't dating, they're just trying to lure that terrorist witch out!" Orsola just smiled despite the other nun's outburst. "Okay...I get it."

Kaori was reading the newspaper on her couch. "This city has many problems. So many places but some went out of business. There's a town outside of Sakurami City that has been abandoned for years, yet they didn't tear it down."

Itsuwa was cleaning her spear's blade and overheard what the priestess said. "This city has more problems than we thought besides this Survival Game." She had another thought lingering in her mind. "By the way, what do you think of Yukiteru Amano and Yuno Gasai?"

Kanzaki put the newspaper aside. "Honestly, Yukiteru is quite the timid young teenager. Though, he does show some courage but lacks confidence in himself. As for Yuno, she's such a strange girl and seems to cling to Yuki." She realized that she called Yukiteru by his short name. "Did I just say Yuki?"

Itsuwa noticed that too but didn't think it was a problem. "Well, it suits his name better plus it's easy to remember." She then stood up and walked toward the kitchen. "It's time to make dinner."

Misaka returned to the apartment and arrived in the room with Saten and Uiharu. "Hey guys." Her friends were right in front of her in a second looking at her with an intrigued look. "Tell us, how was the date?"

"Yeah, give us every detail!"

Misaka felt utterly awkward as she was when she and her friends were gossiping about her crush on her mother. She let out a low groan. "Guys, this wasn't a date, it was just to lure out that 9th Holder lady." She assured. "So far, nothing happened."

Saten knew that but still, it felt like her friend was on a date. "Yeah, but, it must've felt like a date to you." She gave a teasing stare.

Uiharu elbowed her friend in the arm. "C'mon Saten, let's not get into this any further." Saten just grinned. "C'mon, you thought this was the date for our dear Misaka."

Uiharu had a gaping mouth as the railgun but regained her composure. "Anyway, how was Yuki and Yuno's date?" Misaka cleared her throat. "I could tell that they had some fun. The last time we saw them was when we went our separate ways once we left the entrance."

Misaka had something to share with them. "Honestly..." The other two middle school girls looked at her noticing her uneasy feeling. "That Yuno girl is a strange one. She clings onto Yuki like a snail to a building yet I can't help but get a weird vibe from her."

Saten just gave a playful laugh. "C'mon, she doesn't seem that bad, sure, she's a little clingy but I don't think she's a bad person or anything." She gave a taunting smile to her schoolmate. "More importantly, she's honest with her feelings for Yuki unlike a certain level 5 railgun."

Misaka twitched at that comment as she felt flustered and peeved. "Hey, I can be honest with my feelings!" She comically chased after Saten, who ran off playfully while laughing.

Uiharu giggled for a second. She then got a message from Kurusu on her cell phone. "Oh, it's Mr. Kurusu, I wonder what he wants." She looked at her email address entry. "Hmm...another mission tomorrow." She walked over to the other girls. "Hey guys, Mr. Kurusu sent me a message about a mission for tomorrow."

Accelerator was lying down on his couch. His cell phone made the sound of a message.

Last Order checked it out. "Hey Accelerator, you got a message from the old chief guy "Informs Misaka Misaka checking the message out"." Without thinking, Accelerator snatched it out of the mini Misaka's hands. "Let me see that." He read the message. "Hmm, another mission tomorrow, let's hope this one will have more action." He read one last sentence. "So, he wants Last Order to stay with Aiho."

Touma was in the room he was staying with Tsuchimikado. The two started to talk about the assignment.

"Wow, you somehow made Misaka feel a little jealous when mentioning Yuno Gasai. I could hardly blame you, that girl is painfully cute." Motoharu smirked.

Touma sighed deeply in annoyance. "Look, I'm not going to make moves on Yuno. Anyway, did you find get the groceries?" His classmate smirked holding the bags. "C'mon, give me some credit. I know we need food to keep our strength. By the way, I stopped by Yuno's household."

Touma looked at the blonde teenager. "Wait, were you following Yuno and Yukiteru?!"

"Whoa, I just stumbled upon there by chance, nothing more besides the two weren't there yet," Motoharu defended. "Though, I did notice the household was dark like it had no power."

"Perhaps the parents were asleep maybe," Touma shrugged.

Motoharu didn't know if he had to agree with that. "Not sure, but, it seems likely Yuno lives there. Perhaps her parents are away on a working vacation."

Minene was asleep in a bed in a hut still in pain. "Damn it." She muttered placing her left hand on her injured eye.

"Here, take these pain killers I recommend two in your case." The man was wearing a paper bag over his head. "By the way, I heard of you having quite the encounter with a teenage boy."

Minene gritted her teeth but only slightly due the pain. "Don't...even...start. Although, I'm eager to catch that little punk."

"Well, looks like the terrorist has a thing for young boys." The masked man glowed in a teasing matter.

Minene ignored him and took the pills. In a short time later, she was starting to feel extremely tired realizing that she was played. "Well, I think I should take care of that." The masked man put his fingers on her left hand and with one pull he took it out as Minene screamed in agony.

Yukiteru was offered to stay at Yuno's house for the night. Yuno went to cut an apple in her kitchen.

Yukiteru was taking a tour of the hallway. "Man, this is dark quite spooky as that haunted house." He began to wonder if this was similar to what Yuno was feeling back at the haunted maze. His thoughts came to Touma and his friends. "Touma Kamijou and his friends are strange. But, they seem like nice people. Touma was brave and didn't hesitate to fight 9th."

He then came across a sliding door on the right. "What's in there?" He felt a little nervous to open it because he knew snooping wasn't polite. He looked at his Diary and didn't even change. "Well, I suppose I can..." He slowly opened the door and as he did his cell phone along with the remaining Future Diary Holder's phones began to react strangely as a strong vibration sound was heard.

The timid teenager took a peek inside the room and what he saw was disturbing. Blood stains were on the floor and two corpses were covered in two blankets.

In DEUS realm

"Ah! Muru Muru yelled. "The boundaries of fate have begun to change!"

DEUS had a feeling about what just happened. "Yukiteru Amano...did you open that...I admit your new friends have demonstrated courage and things I'd never seen before. This is now a small playground of Sakurami City. The fate of the 12 Holders was changed. An impossible miracle has come again, the future will have an unimaginable change." An intrigued yet excited look was shown on DUES's mechical-like face. "How interesting, I was correct in choosing you!"

Yukiteru was frozen in place still until a certain teenage girl was seen behind him. "Why...why did you have to open that?" Yuno was there looking sad with tears pouring down her eyes and her cell phone that had the entry of her and Yuki becoming one was gone.

In a flash, Yukiteru fled like a bat out of hell not stopping to look back. He eventually returned to his house slamming the front door and panting heavily after a long run. "Pant...pant..." He then looked at a message that was left on the wall. "It's a message from Mom, she must've been here not too long ago." He looked at the letter closely. "Kurusu is coming here tomorrow and four of our news friends will be joining us" He then felt a rattle sound from the mail slot. He slowly turned his head to see a pair of eyes looking at him. "Good night, Yukki."

"What the hell are you thinking?!" Yukiteru jumped in fear.

At the Sakurami Police Station

8:55 AM

Uiharu was back to checking on reports regarding the Ometaka Residence. "It's a place where the weak can redeem their lost lives. Sounds like a decent place. Although, it seems like the place has some reports in the past months."

Saten was sitting next to her. "Yeah, considering the loss of two adults and leaving their daughter behind was a tragic event." She was looking at some papers. "According to what you gathered, the daughter is named Tsubaki Kasugano.

Aiho and Kurusu were having a conversation in the conference room.

"So, we're investigating this cult now, right?" Aiho inquired.

Kurusu nodded his head. "That's right, according to our resources Uyruu was abducted last night. We believe it was the place called the Omekata Cult a group of nut cases at least that's what my Diary tells me."

Aiho had to admit the Diary's powers were nothing like the equipment that Academy City uses. "Your Detective Diary never ceases to amaze me."

"I'm flattered, but, anyway, I would like to pick Gasai and Amano. Motoharu will drive there with Touma and Accelerator." Kurusu replied. "As for you, have Uiharu continue to search for anything else that might be suspicious. You and Nishijima will be leading the backup unit." Aiho gave the chief a nod.

There you have it, the date between Yuno and Yuki with Misaka and Touma went alright. That is until Yukiteru made a horrifying discovery in Yuno's household which made him more afraid around Yuno. He made it home and learned that his mother left a message.

The main question is, what dangers will Yukiteru and his new friends face this time and will Yukiteru be able to overcome his fear of Yuno, find out next time.

End of chapter.
