Trigger warning - Panic attacks

A dream had taken Elsa to a horrorland.

A breezy fog.

Animals wandered past Elsa, so she seemed to see everything, but no one saw her.

She shifted in her sleep as she began to walk on a rocky pathway that led to a broken cabin in the center of the forest.

Then she heard a strange voice.

A girl hidden under a cape sat on the edge, telling the story; she was alone.

She was muttering the words to herself.

And so she commenced, and Elsa heard her.

Centuries ago, a legendary story about a royal knight and a Queen was very famous in Iceland. It touched everyone's hearts because of their love, but primarily because of the sacrifices they made for each other.

Jackson Frost and Elsa Arandelle were raised together and had a secret crush on each other. However, due to their apparent differences, Jack and Elsa were forbidden to wed.

Elsa was a very outgoing princess who her people loved. She had fallen in love with a relatively rigid, hardworking royal knight named Jackson. They were the opposites of each other, and no one knew of their hidden powers.

Soon after her 21st birthday, Elsa's loving parents gave her the throne, and they started looking for a suitable prince consort for their eldest daughter.

Jackson's parents were searching for a woman to marry for their son, who was their only dotted baby.

They both were the apple of the eye of their parents.

Sadly, now there was no chance of being together for the childhood best friends as he was not of royal blood. But somehow, Jack had found the guts to ask for Elsa's hand in marriage from the former King and Queen of the kingdom. Both sets of parents hesitated, but because of their love for their children, they gave in and started to plan a very public marriage.

The public was surprised, but hearing about their forbidden love supported them as it was a fairytale—but for them. But not all, of course. The other kingdoms, including the nobles within Elsa's kingdom, started to create problems and did not allow the marriage to happen, especially the notorious Prince Hans of Southern Isles, who wanted to marry Elsa.

When the other empire attacked their palace, and even their guards turned against them, Elsa and Jack had no choice but to use their hidden powers to protect their loved ones. Soon, they were labeled monsters with these unheard-of ice and wind powers, but only amongst the nobles.

A mythical village of trolls helped them escape, but only after secretly marrying them, with Elsa's sister Anna and Jack's best friend as the witnesses.

A secret wedding occurred between a royal knight and the former Queen of the land. With the help of the trolls, the couple ran to a faraway mountain, and the location was hidden from everyone, even their families. Elsa and Jack, with their powers, built an ice castle where they planned to live.

It had been a month, and they were living happily together as heard from the trolls; Anna was crowned Queen and engaged to a prince of the Trosifti-Alz-Isles named Kristoff.

One day, Jack and Elsa were flirting with each other as they fed their horses and laughed, talking about their childhood memories. They were happy and completely in love, unaware of their surroundings. Since they were expecting no one, it was safe.

An arrow was let go, and it hit Jack in the back abruptly, throwing him on the ground. There was darkness everywhere, and it was so cold yet hot. Jack touched his stomach, and that's when he found it was his hot blood in the cold body.

Elsa came rushing to his side and let out a big gasp at the sight in front of her, which echoed in the forest. She ran towards her one and only, almost tripping over the branches covered in snow multiple times.

The last words spilled out of his bleeding mouth. He knew he would die soon." You were my rain in summertime and my soft breeze after a storm." Jack coughed blood in between his words as he fell in his lover's lap.

Elsa placed her hand on his cheek, and tears fell on his pale face. "Don't speak. I can heal you. Please don't...don't talk." Her other hand was on his stomach, trying to heal his bleeding stomach with her powers.

He chuckled and pulled her lower with his arm. "We both know you can not. Spend these last moments with me, my love."

Elsa shook her head and released more magic, and a storm started to build around them. "Don't you dare say that? I know I can heal you. I must!" Soon, she began to cough blood, too, as she was running out of power. "No! No, I can heal you." She could try the act of true love.

"Elsa," A single pain-filled tear rolled down his face. "Let me die in your arms. Don't overexert yourself." Even dying, he wanted the best for her.

Always so stubborn him. "Jackson!"

Slowly, with a trembling, pale hand, he brought her hand to his lips. "Forget me and live happily to the fullest."

"How?" Her hand went to his chest, and she pressed it. "Without you...I can't."

A trail of blood rolled down his chin as he laughed. "I know you will because you're my Elsa. The best part of my life was having you as mine in this life."

She placed her forehead on his nose and stared into his brown eyes. "I'm yours," she said.

Jack's eyes closed suddenly, and his breathing slowed down every second. "No, no, don't you dare leave! I order you, Jackson!" She raised her hand to slap him foolishly."As your Queen, I order you! You're my knight! Please don't leave."

"I love you, Your Majesty." These were the last words he said before letting go.

"And I love you." He had never heard these words from her before, never once in their lives. Guilt consumed her, and she repeated, "I love you. I love you, Jack."

It was useless, she knew, but her heart wouldn't accept it, and she didn't want to. This fantasy where he was alive concealed the pain the truth brought.

Two months later, after burying him alone, Elsa hugged the tomb and carefully covered the grave with her coat. "You must be cold." She had gone crazy.

When they sensed a weird energy, the trolls rushed to the mountain and figured it must be Jack and Elsa. It took them months to get there.

And the trolls found them.

There was Elsa lying on Jack's grave with both hands on the grave hugging him.

"Your grace...how? How did this happen?" The village head ran to the couple and moved Elsa, who was taking her last breaths.

A sharp crystal was shot into her heart when she heard the footsteps near her. She took her own life from the fear of being forcibly married by the nobles or used as a weapon. But mostly because she can't take a breath without her Jack anymore.

Elsa smiled, and it was full of sadness: "If...if there...You have powers, Pabbie; please give me my Jack back. Please bring him back to life. I'll give anything for that, please...Pabbie. Jackson." Tears ran down her face like storming streams. "My love. My husband—" Elsa had gone.

Seeing the lovers dead in each other's embrace with a barrier of mud between them wrenched his heart, and he promised himself that if he had even an ounce of magic his ancestors had given to him, he'd pray for this couple to be united again.

He lived with the guilt forever that it was one of his own, a troll from his village, who had given information to Hans. That guilt took his death painfully.

Their families hoped and assumed the couple was living happily far away in an unknown place, unaware of the fact their children had died.

The kingdom only knew the love story, which had a happy ending for the Snow Queen and the Winter Knight. Their rumored powers made them heroes in the people's eyes.

Only Trolls knew of the sad ending and the pain The Queen and Knight had suffered.

The people named them the Snow Queen and the Winter Knight, and that's how their touching love story was passed on.

The girl covered by a cape got up and vanished into the fog.

And the horrorland ended.

Finally, she seemed to believe in past lives.

Panting, shaking hands, and sweating profusely, she got up from the bed and went downstairs.

Elsa's head was engulfed in her dream, which she vividly replayed in her mind.

When she walked around, the wood creaked, and her footsteps bounced off the walls. She stopped and looked up at the roof in disbelief.

The chandelier sparkled in the dead of night, and she saw her face in each glass. Only then did she notice the tears in her eyes.

As the realization hit her, she fell to the ground on her knees and cried openly and freed her heart from the pain. She was grieving losing her husband once again in this life.

All of this happened because of her. When she put the pieces together, all of this made sense. The punishment Jack talked about was Elsa taking her own life.

Jack was killed, and his life ended because of Elsa's greed for love. Couldn't she have left him alone, and if he had married someone else, he'd be alive with a happy ending with that woman.

Because of that greed, he died, and Elsa took her life, which made him suffer again. She decided not to take away Jack's happiness in this life.

Elsa gripped the marble edge of the kitchen island and clenched her jaw. "This time...I will let him go...He should be...happy. He deserves better."

Torturing pain followed, and she clasped her shirt on her chest and slipped down the wooden side. Her breath was stuck in her throat.

Everything was spinning, and she thought she was dying. 'This time, I will leave him.'

Her head was hurting, and she was dizzy. 'I killed him'

Dark thoughts surrounded and choked her as she hugged her knees.

Suddenly, the tornado around her stopped, and she could breathe again. Her head and chest still hurt, and her entire body did.

It was a panic attack, she realized.

Something she had suffered her entire life. Numerous times a week, but luckily, they stopped when she moved to Berk.

Elsa chuckled sarcastically. "Guess they are back."

Everything hurt.

The moon looked gorgeous, so she made a wish: "I'll leave after the wedding." The shine dulled as she continued: "Let him be happy this time."

She was foolish to believe happy endings existed.
