In The Todoroki mansion, just off Park, A figure trudged up the steps, head hung low.
Shoto Todoroki tiptoes up the stairs of the townhouse. He walked toward the end of a long, long dark hallway, where a light was on.
From the room at the end of the hall, he heard an angry muttering, but he couldn't make out any of the words.
"Dad?" Shoto called.
Enji Todoroki, dressed in normal clothes, stepped into the hallway, startled. They talked, from this great distance. Enji wass just a dark shadow.
"You were right about Reiko." Shoto said. "You were right about Kuri, too. I think she's in love with Izuku.'
"Izuku... Midoriya?" Enji took a few steps forward, closer in this long hallway. "And does he... love her as well?"
"Are you kidding?" Shoto said bitterly. "He tries to deny it, but he's been in love with her since he was twelve years old."
"Reeeeeally." Enji grinned madly. "What a... tangled web."
Shoto covered his face with one hand, to cover his shame, to hide the fact that he had begun to sob.
"I'm sorry," Shoto agonized. 'You must think I'm so weak. Oh God, Dad, you hate me...I know you hate me."
"Shoto..." Enji said softly. "…no, Shoto, you mustn't say that, you mustn't ever say that. Whatever's happened with us in the past, it doesn't matter. I love you. I love you and I'll do anything I can to help you."
Finally, Enji stepped into a pool of light right in front of his son.
Enji was utterly sincere. "What kind of dad do you think I am?"
