It was 2012. Long after the evil King got trapped inside a mirror for eternity. We see a familiar star flying through space with his brother. It were Star and Gabriel. They were having fun if you can imagine. But then, they heard something far off in the distance. So they rushed to where that sound was made. Turns out, It were Shadow the Hedgehog fighting against an alien monster!
Shadow: That damn alien's giving me a hard time.
Star comes down and attacks the alien. But the alien dodges it. This gives Shadow the opportunity to spin dash the alien while it's distracted. Shadow goes straight through the alien's chest, killing it instantly. He then looks back at Star, who was very shocked because of what happened.
Shadow: Sorry little guy. I might've gone a little too violent.
Star calms down very quickly after Shadow says it. Star gets curious about whatever's going on. He's actually in a different earth than the one he fell to. It's more darker, more modern and more messed up. It was here that Star has a great idea. His plan is to help out with people and save this dark and groomy planet.
Shadow: So, you want me to help you?
Star agrees
Shadow: Ok, I'll help you save this wretched planet.
And with that, both Star and Shadow venture off and begin their adventure together.
We then get a glimpse of the evil being who's causing all of this in the first place.
