"Natural snow in Shuggazoom City is exceptionally rare," Gibson had said. "It will likely be centuries before such a thing occurs," Gibson had said. And yet, during the first winter after the War had ended, Nova walked into the command center to find Chiro scrambling to put on his snow gear, the rest of the Monkey Team waiting for him with grins on their faces as the monitor showed flakes sprinkling down around their home. It wasn't much - the boys would have to work at scraping enough together for a snowman - but it was enough to get them excited.

Of course.

To nobody's surprise, Nova stayed inside. She'd "keep watch" she said - a completely pointless task since the Super Robot could keep watch itself, but none of the others were going to point that out. And so, Nova settled down into her chair and ran her eyes over the many security feeds. All quiet inside the robot, of course. All quiet around the city too... she paused on a couple feeding birds in the park, then on a child sipping a mug of hot cocoa that was half whipped cream. Seeing everything so mundane, so peaceful, did her heart good. It reminded her what they'd all fought so hard for, and what they were still prepared for now.

"Room for one more?"

Nova blinked and looked away from the monitor to see Sprx standing next to her chair with two mugs of coffee in his hands and a fuzzy blanket in his tail, beaming. She hadn't even noticed him leave the group. "Oh, uh, thanks Sprx, but wouldn't you rather be outside?"

"Eh," he shrugged. "I think I've had enough snow for one lifetime."

Nova smiled back at him and scooted over as much as she could, making room for Sprx to squeeze into the chair next to her, draping the blanket behind both of them and handing her one of the mugs. He took a sip, breathed deeply, and sunk into her side. It was rare to see him this quiet, even when it was just them - maybe he needed to bask in the peace of the time as much as she did.

"...Hey," Nova said, "thanks."

"Right," Sprx said, "because cuddling up with a hot babe is really putting me out."

She snickered and planted a kiss on the side of his head, and they settled into the comforting warmth of each other to get through the frigid day ahead.
