-next day-
Sonic laid in Mephiles' arms, his mind wandering, his feet still hurt and he was a tad dizzy but other than that he was generally okay though he felt a bit weaker than usual, ears twitching a bit he looked over at the black hedgehog watching him curiously as he sniffed the air smelling something sweet, Shadow was eating some canned peaches that he seemed to by enjoying, getting a bit drawn in by the sweet smell he sat up slightly to watch Shadow eat.
Shadow noticed the little hoglet's gaze and looked over at him then at his bite then back at Sonic who's ears slowly inched forward only to quickly fold back again as he looked away from the black hedgehog.
"Alright fairy." Shadow sighed, getting closer where he cut a small piece and offered it to the hoglet who looked up at him for a moment before hesitantly reaching for it. "Go on, it will probably help you heal."
Sonic took the piece of fruit that was a tad bigger than both his tiny hands put together, the sticky syrup dripped on his fur and made his hands feel a bit slimy but the smell made his nose twitch with anticipation and he quickly sank his teeth into the fruit drinking the juices he needed and swallowing the syrupy substance that made him relax a bit as he ate the soft fruit that was easy for him to eat.
"Wow, he sure likes that." Fleetway snickered a bit.
Sonic ate as fast as he could till he finally finished, he then licked the syrup from his hands and arms, when that was done he laid back with a satisfied burp.
Suddenly a howl sounded in the distance making everyone pause, Sonic squeaked recognizing that sound and completely terrified he buried his face into the gray fur as his body trembled violently, the others hissed in irritation and listened close hearing rain patter on the side of the house.
"A-after me.. Th-they after me!" Sonic cried into Mephiles' fur.
The door on the other side of the room suddenly opened and in perfect timing lightning flashed revealing a tall scruffy figure that resembled a wolf.
Holding in a cry of terror, Sonic buried himself further into the crook of Mephiles' arm where he did his best to stay hidden.
The figure stomped in and closed the door behind him before shaking himself dry and walking towards the hedgehogs who watched him intently. "Why hello fellow monsters." the creature greeted, his sharp teeth glinting in the dim light. "Everything going well?"
"What do you want Infinite?" they demanded.
"Well as you know it has been twenty years since your family's betrayal and I have been waiting many moons now but it is time to pay up for what you owe me." the werewolf explained. "I am not picky who is to pay but if you don't do it willingly then we will do it by force again."
Sonic quivered and curled tighter but accidently squeaked, face now going pale he tensed hoping that they didn't notice but that hope was crushed where he felt a sharp claw touch his lower back and slowly travel up his spine causing him to shudder and arch his back as he pulled out of his hiding spot.
"Well what do we have here? Looks like you got yourselves a little toothpick." Infinite cackled, snatching the hoglet up by his scruff earning a squeak from the tiny thing. "Are you playing with your food again?"
"Give it back you ill-mannered jackal!" Mephiles snapped, getting to his feet.
"Wait.. are you attached to this little fairy?" Infinite queried, glancing at them. "Or is he your treasured little snack."
"That is none of your business." Shadow hissed.
"It is because he was my claimed snack first." Infinite growled. "I destroyed his stuck up village and was about to kill him when something strange happened, he had no wings or powers so it would have been easy pickings but no it had to get more complicated, he not just shifted to a fairy but a dark fairy."
"A dark fairy?" they asked, looking at the terrified hoglet in the werewolves claws.
"Yes, a dark dragon fairy one of the most dangerous and rare fairies of all time, and he may seem harmless now but do not be fooled, he will soon grow up and destroy everything." Infinite said, tightening his grip a bit. "But I have a solution to both your problems."
"What?" Darkspine pressed in irritation.
"Instead of one of you, I will take this hoglet and say it is even for the next several years." Infinite offered.
Sonic curled up slightly and looked over at them to see they were considering the offer and that alone made the hoglets heart sink even lower, they looked they decided so Sonic closed his eyes prepared for his doom.
"No, you said yourself, it is only paid off by one of us." Mephiles announced. "But you are not getting paid ever again."
"Fine, then I will come back and I will kill all of you." Infinite snarled, throwing the hoglet up in the air before swatting him hard, making the poor thing fly through the air and hit the wall with a sickening crack and squeak. "I will see you later, traitors!"
With that he ran out of the place on all fours leaving them alone.
"Now that's just great." Fleetway grumbled. "Now the most feared creatures of the mystic forest are out to kill us all."
"Fleet calm down, it isn't news for they have been out to kill us off for decades." Shadow said, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Well for centuries we have been at peace till our parents had to botch it all up." Fleetway snapped, clearly irritated. "And it would have been fine today if that fairy never existed in the first place."
Sonic stared at them in shock from where he was struggling to get back to them, tears blurred his vision and he put a hand over his mouth trying to swallow his sobs, his heart shattered and he staggered back only to fall down in pain causing a small yelp to escape his lips.
Everyone paused and looked over to see the little hoglet struggling to get up, Mephiles sighed and went over before gently picking the small hoglet up but found it was crying harder then he had ever seen it do, ears flicking back a bit he used a claw to make the hoglet straighten up a bit from his curled position though it didn't seem to care as he continued to cry.
"Sonic?" Mephiles tried to get the hoglets attention.
"n-n-no.." Sonic shook his head, his breathing going uneven. "I-I'm n-not h-helpf-ful.. I-I d-destr-stroyed everything.. I-I'm a dark f-f-fairy and a-all I d-do is d-destroy!"
Suddenly his form changed, his fur went darker and his wings changed to ones that resembled a dragon's wings, he let out a few sobs before quickly taking off and flying away as fast he possibly could go, he left the mansion and hurried into the deep dark wood tears still flooding his vision as he flew faster.
Sonic flew hard and fast till he was finally far enough away, still sniffling he landed softly near a tree trunk where he sat down, he was trembling violently and the storm got even worse in his sorrow, he couldn't control himself and all he could do was cry his heartbreak.
"Aww, what's the matter little fairy?"
Sonic paused and looked up to see Infinite towering over him on all fours, startled he pushed back against the tree, his breathing quickening in fear.
"Oh calm yourself I will not harm you." Infinite assured him, reaching down and touching the tiny things wings that had changed back to light blue butterfly. "Except I can't have you flying away now can I?" he asked, snagging his claw into the same wing and pulling down effectively breaking it causing the hoglet to yelp in pain. "There, now you are completely disabled."
Once the claw was away Sonic quickly pulled that wing close, finding the thin part of the wing had a shred from the middle to the end so he could no longer fly, terrified Sonic tried to get up and run away but he remembered his feet were still hurt so instead he fell back down.
"Now, all we need is the others." Infinite smiled evilly revealing his sharp teeth that were waiting to rip him to shreds.
"N-no.." Sonic shook his head, pushing himself back up to his hands and knees. "P-please d-don't kill th-them.. I-I will d-do an-anything j-just d-don't hurt t-them p-pl-please."
"Anything?" Infinite queried, thinking it over. "Alright then, I will not do anything to them if you come willingly and do not run away or fight, no questions asked."
Sonic slowly looked up at him and hesitantly nodded. "O-okay."
Infinite smiled and let out an ear piercing howl of triumph before picking Sonic up in his teeth and running away on all fours.
-with the others-
"Should we go after him?" Darkspine asked once Sonic flew out of the house.
"That is not a question." Fleetway growled slightly.
"Alright, best hurry it up." Mephiles said melting into the floor where he was just a shadow that left and followed after the hoglet.
Shadow did the same but Fleetway and Darkspine shapeshifted into bats that hurried away, they all followed the trail but soon they lost him around a large tree, quickly they all turned back to normal and looked around but there was no sign of the little hoglet.
"Where did he go?" Fleetway snarled slightly.
"The trail stops here." Darkspine said, pointing near a trunk of a tree.
"Wait.. these are werewolf tracks." Shadow mumbled, looking in the direction the tracks went. "Infinite."
"We need to get him, who knows what those twisted jackals will do to him." Mephiles growled, ears flattening against his head. "They are ruthless creatures, not the least bit civilized unless they want to be."
"Then let's go." Shadow decided, his teeth bared a bit.
"We will get our fairy back." Mephiles hissed. "Come on."
The others nodded in agreement and they all ran off further into the forest.
