"… Shut up stupid alarm clock, I'm too sleepy to go to school. I was flying with daddy all night." a voice said annoyedly.
It belonged to none other than Maria and Shadow's daughter, Mei who was now five years old and her first day of kindergarten was today which her parents weee excited about making the brown-furred female hedgehog sighing getting out of bed heading to the bathroom to pee and do stuff then going back to her room putting on her favourite shirt with shorts and her jacket with holes for her wings to fit through when they came out heading downstairs relieving Maria and Shadow knowing how nervous she was, about kindergarten so made breakfast seeing her sitting down. "Morning sweetie and notice you look tired but you and daddy were out flying huh." Mei heard Maria saying making the female-cub nodding thinking about how awesome last night had been, flying with ner sad despite the fact she should've been in bed but she hadn't been able to sleep.
"I might've went flying with daddy, he wanted to relax me about school." Mei replied to her making the orange-furred hedgehog female sighing at that.
"Morning Maria, Mei-Mei, I just woke up aswe can't miss this big day for our girl." Shadow said entering the kitchen.
"Not really it's just kindergarten daddy, no big deal." Mei said playing with her cereal with her spoon making Maria chuckle at this because she was being cufe and a lil hard on herself which made him frown at her words. "Yes it is as I never went at your age plus it doesn't matter what the other cubs say." Shadow told her which was making her relax relieving Shadow as he was drinking his coffee along with Maria who was eating toast making Mei smile.
"You've got a point daddy as Grandpa told me that. You alright." Mei said making him nod.
"Yes I'm okay because I can rest, while you're at school." Shadow told her making Mei get it, as she was getting her backpack as he and Maria were leaving the house, hearing Mei ask her dad, if they were walking or flying there making Shadow chuckle at her question. "I think we should walk honey instead of flying." Maria told her making Shadow nodding even though he really wanted to fly there arriving at Green Hills Elementary making Mei nervous seeing all those kids which Maria and Shadow understood squeezing her paws gently as she entered the kindergarten room.
"I can do this, I can do this." Mei said softly to herself as she on the rug with the other kids.
"You think she's doing okay, at school Maria." Shadow asked.
"Maybe she's doing okay Shadow, as she's strong like you." Maria said.
It was early afternoon and Shadow was awake after sleeping for a bit, hoping Mei was doing okay at school which Maria got, so they could ask Mei about her day when they picked her up or when they got home only Shadow felt bad, as sometimes he had to go to Gotham which Maria and now, even Mei got and kept that to herself because the other kids wouldn't believe her like the one time at preschool but they'd laughed so when he wasn't busy, he spent time with the both of them taking deep-breaths
"She'll be okay, and if she had a bad day, we can help her out Maria." Shadow told her.
"That's true Shadow, as we're very protective of our Mei-Mei pkus we should protect her, from GUN especially Abe Walter's." Maria said making Shadow nervous. He didn't want anything to hapoen to Mei like what had happened to him fifty years ago feeling Maria hug him.
"Thanks Maria, as you know how we feel about GUN." Shadow repkied to her.
"Yes but Mei is like you, she can handle things and she's introverted too. Also Gerald's moving in with us, as Mei needs her grandpa." Maria told him making Shadow nodding. "I'm gonna get some air." Shadow said getting on the Dark Rider making Maria sigh as she knew Shadow was feeling unsure about this change so riding around town might help him. He was heading into the forest where he could vent without upsetting anybody but it was helping. " First Mei starts kindergarten and now, my creator is moving in with us, too much changes." Shadow told himself.
Afterca bit, he returned to where he'd left the Dark Rider getting home seeingvGerald there making him tense up making Gerald get it, seeing Shadow make himself some coffee to make himself calm makingvMaria get it, so was leaving him be which Gerald got noticibf a pillow on the couch which had Mei's art on it of her dad being a hero smirking which Maria saw he'd found.
"Mei made that on her first day of preschool and Shadow's very fond of it." she told him.
"That's very sweet of him, I knew this was a good idea-" Gerald said hearing cursibg from the kitchen making Maria astounded he'd broken the coffee bean jar and coffee beans were on the floor making Gerald quiet noticing the swear jar almost full surprised he hadn't tried to kill that. "That was Maria's idea after Christmas when Mei cussed so I can't do that. Mei's not even here so I don't have to feed it." Shadow said seeing Maria glare.
"Shadow Robotnik, feed the jar or so help me." Maria said making him relent.
