Disclaimer: I don't own the Back to the Future franchise or The Mentalist series.
Author's Note: During one of the times I watched the pilot episode of "The Mentalist", I've noticed one of the characters is a medical doctor named Gregory Tannen. Then I wondered: how similar he can be to the typical BttF Tannen without disregarding what his series established about him?
The Fate of Gregory Tannen
Dr. Linus Wagner was inside his office reading some papers when his colleague Gregory Tannen suddenly entered. "Hey, butthead, what's the meaning of this?" Dr. Tannen angrily asked as he slammed some documents on Dr. Wagner's table.
"Gregory, I can explain." Dr. Wagner pleaded.
"Then do it!" Dr. Tannen ordered, still angry at his friend.
"Our patients don't give enough to our charity." Dr. Wagner answered, believing it'd be enough to appease his partner. He was wrong.
"And you think it justifies stealing the difference?" Dr. Tannen asked while knocking on Dr. Wagner's head the same way his cousin in Hill Valley used to do to his victims during his time as a school bully. "Think, Wagner. Think. If you get caught, you'll go to jail, lose your license, and our patients will stop donating whatever they actually give. Do you want it to happen?"
"It won't happen because they'll never know, Gregory." Dr. Wagner reassured Dr. Tannen.
"They will know because I will tell them, Dr. Robin Hood." Dr. Tannen replied. "I won't risk my reputation and my freedom for you."
"But we're friends." Dr. Wagner protested.
"And that's why I'm giving you a head start to escape." Dr. Tannen replied. "I'm calling the cops and you'd better not to be here by the time I'm done reporting you unless you prefer going to jail than living as a fugitive." After saying that, he turned around and started walking out of Dr. Wagner's office until he heard a gun. "Are you really going to shoot me?" Dr. Tannen defiantly asked.
"You're leaving me no choice, Tannen." Dr. Wagner answered.
"Nice bluff but we're medical doctors." Dr. Tannen replied. "We took an oath to heal people. You won't kill anybody. It's against our nature."
Days later, in Hill Valley, Biff Tannen received a next-of-kin notification.
THE END
