Lucas: "What was Leaf doing in your room?"

Ness: "Oh, uh, I forgot to tell you, but we made up."

Lucas: "Really?"

Ness: "Crazy, right?"

Lucas: "When?"

Ness: "Yesterday. She actually talked to me."

Lucas: "I thought she hated you."

Ness: "That's what I thought too!"

Lucas: "Oh, ok."

Ness: "I caught her in a good mood."

Lucas: "I see."

Ness: "Weird, huh?"

Lucas: "What did you two do yesterday?"

Ness: "We walked and talked."

Lucas: "Oh, that's cool."

Ness: "Her and I even had dinner together. I didn't think that would happen. I honestly thought it would be awkward hanging out with her because not too long ago she hated my guts."

Lucas: "So… Like a date?"

Ness: "N-no! Not a date. We just, you know, hung out and ate ramen at the food court."

Lucas: "That's a date."

Ness: "A friend date!"

Lucas: "Ok…"

Ness: "I mean you and I go on dates all the time. It's like that."

Lucas: "!" *Blushes*

Ness: "But you know, like as friends! A friend date. It's the same thing. Haha…"

Lucas: "Right."

Ness: "So uh, what have you been up to?"

Lucas: "So wait, what were you guys doing not too long ago?"

Ness: "You mean like when she was here?"

Lucas: "Yes."

Ness: "We listened to music and talked."

Lucas: "Is this the first time she's been in your room?"

Ness: "Yeah."

Lucas: "Oh, well that's cool that you two are getting closer."

Ness: "Isn't it? Your plan worked."

Lucas: "My plan?"

Ness: "Leaving her be for a while until she approaches me."

Lucas: "Oh, right. I came up with that."

Ness: "This is why you're a genius. Anyway, why are you over there? Sit next to me."

Lucas: "O-ok!"

Lucas walked over to the bed and sat.

Ness: "I didn't know you were coming over."

Lucas: "I texted you."

Ness: (I ignored it…) "S-sorry."

Lucas: "I get it. You were too busy."

Ness: "N-no! It's just… You know, Leaf and I were talking and I didn't want to be rude and go on my phone."

Lucas: "It's ok. I understand."

An awkward silence filled the room until the blonde spoke again.

Lucas: "I have a question."

Ness: "Y-yes?"

Lucas: "What did you two talk about?"

Ness: "Pokemon. She's giving me tips on how to train Lucky."

Lucas: "That's nice."

Ness: "Since you know, Lucky doesn't respect me."

Lucas: "Haha! True."

Ness: "So, what do you wanna do?"

Lucas: "I just wanted to be here. We don't have to do anything in particular."

Ness wanted to play League Of Legends, but also he was feeling a little social. Somehow his social battery wasn't fully fried like always.

Ness: "Leaf showed me a new music genre. Want to hear?"

Lucas: "Sure!"

Ness played Lo-Fi on his tv and the two listened in silence.

Lucas: "Oh, I know Lo-Fi."

Ness: "Really? I've never heard of it."

Lucas: "Isn't it nice?"

Ness: "It is! Why didn't you tell me about it sooner?"

Lucas: "I don't go out of my way for music."

Ness: "Neither do I."

Lucas: "Actually you know what, did you want to listen to the Lo-Fi radio while we play stardew? I brought my laptop."

Ness: "Yes!"

Lucas took out his laptop from his backpack. The two started playing. It was a nice relaxing experience. However, they stopped when Ness yawned.

Lucas: "Sleepy?"

Ness: "A little bit."

Lucas: "We've been playing for a couple hours. I think it's time for bed."

Ness: "Mkay."

Lucas put his laptop away.

Lucas: "Thanks for having me over."

Ness: "Of course. Thanks for visiting me."

Lucas left and went back to his room. He brushed his teeth and changed into pajamas. He then climbed on bed and stared at the ceiling.

Leaf was in his room. He felt jealous. She's back in the picture. He's happy that she's getting along with Ness now, but also he wasn't. It's fucked up, but his jealously was too strong.

His anxiety started to get the better of him. What if Ness and Leaf were doing other things besides talking? N-no, he wouldn't. But she's a cute girl and he's straight.

His mind started to spiral downwards. This always happens. Ness either makes him feel so unbelievably happy or extremely depressed. It's never in between.

The one emotion that's been winning recently has been depression. He hates feeling this way. It's tortuous. Every fucking night is like this. It's miserable. He's miserable. He's losing to Tina and now he's losing to Leaf. He can't compete with them because he's a guy. If only he was a woman. Then maybe Ness would see him more than a friend.

Lucas cringed at the thought of him as a woman. Why is he so cringy? Wanting to be a girl for Ness is crazy! He just wants his friend to love him like how he does. Actually he wishes he wasn't in love with anyone. Life would be easier and less complicated. But that's not how it is. He's madly in love with Ness and there's nothing he can do about it.

Like most nights, he cried himself to sleep. When he woke up the next day, he checked his phone. He got a text message from Ness. That's weird, he never wakes up before twelve in the afternoon.

Ness: I know it's early and all, but did you want to go eat breakfast and then come with me to take Lucky to the vet.

Lucas: Sure!

Ness: Meet me at Lonlon café.

Lucas: Ok!

Lucas got dressed and left to the café. He saw Ness sitting on a lone table and gladly went over to him.

Ness: "Hey!"

Lucas: "Hi."

Lucas looked down and saw that Lucky was drinking a bowl of lonlon milk.

Lucas: "Aww, cute."

Ness: "I found out this place serves free milk to pets."

Lucas: "Oh that's why you chose here."

Ness: "Yeah. I've actually never been here before."

Lucas: "Mkay, well I'm gonna go order something. I'll be right back."

Ness: "Ok~"

Lucas waited in line. Once it was his turn, he ordered an Omelet and a cup of coffee with lonlon milk to go with it. He sat back down on the table and began eating.

Ness: "Pretty good, huh?"

Lucas: "Yes! I love the milk here."

Ness: "Riiight. I'm not a milk guy, but this lonlon milk is special."

Lucas: "So, after this we're going to the vet?"

Ness: "Yup. It's Lucky's first vet appointment. I'm so excited."

Lucas: "Aww, that's adorable. Although, I'm not sure that Lucky will enjoy it."

Ness: "No animal likes going to the vet, so I'm sure that's the same with Pokemon."

Lucas: "Then why are you excited?"

Ness: "Because I'm being a responsible parent!"

Lucas cringed when Ness said that. He immediately thought about Leaf. If she doesn't get that abortion soon, then Ness's life would be over. The blonde knew that Ness would take care of the child because of his hero complex. Who knows, because of the baby, they might get together. The thought made him sad.

Lucas: "Y-yeah..."

Ness: "Isn't that right, Lucky? I'm a good dad~"

Ness looked under the table and started talking to him with a baby voice. Lucas smiled and couldn't help but find him cute. He's affectionate and using a baby voice. He's never seen this side of him before.

Lucky ignored him, but Ness picked him up and held him tight.

Lucky: "Espii…" *Frowns*

Lucas: "I don't think he wants to be picked up."

Ness: "He loves cuddles. Don't you, Lucky? You love it so much~"

It's so weird seeing him like this. Lucas couldn't help but smile and also baby talk Lucky.

Lucas: "D'aww, Lucky, you're so cute~"

Lucky: "Espeon…"

Ness put Lucky back down and grinned.

Ness: "Taking care of Lucky is frustrating, but also rewarding. I don't get it."

Lucas: "If only he listened to you more."

Ness: "I know right."

Ness checked the time on his watch.

Ness: "Lucky's appointment is soon. Let's head there early."

Lucas: "Ok."

The two walked to the Pokemon daycare center. They went up to the receptionist and asked where the health clinic was located. She told them it's on the third floor. They thanked her and took the elevator there.

Ness checked in and waited at the lobby. Once Lucky's name was called, the two followed the doctor inside the room.

Doctor: "Hi, nice to meet you guys. My name is Professor Roland."

Ness: "Hi, I'm Ness. This is my friend Lucas. *Picks up Lucky* And this is Lucky."

P. Roland: "Why hello everyone. So, we're doing a check up today?"

Ness: "Yes. Also I have a concern."

P. Roland: "And what's that?"

Professor Roland picked up Lucky and placed him on the bed.

Ness: "So, my Espeon keeps throwing up. Any ideas as to why?"

P. Roland: "That could be because of his diet. What do you feed him?"

Ness: "For a while I've been feeding him dry kibble, but lately I got him wet food."

P. Roland: "What brand?"

Ness: "Pokeroll."

P. Roland: "Ah. That's why. Pokeroll isn't a trusted brand. There's a lot of chemicals they put in there."

Ness: "Oh. It was the cheapest food brand. That's why I bought it."

P. Roland: "I understand. But I would switch to Poke Bowl. That brand is trustworthy and has natural ingredients."

Ness: "Ok, I'll do that."

Professor Roland started doing his examination. He checked Lucky's ears and pulse. Everything seems to be doing ok. Until the professor took out a shot. Lucky widened his eyes and went berserk.

Lucky: "ESPEON!"

Lucky started using his powers to toss everything around. He even picked up the professor using his physic powers and chucked him.

Ness: "No! Lucky, bad!"

Ness and Lucas pinned Lucky down so that the professor could give Lucky his shots. When the Pokemon felt the needle, he started screaming and thrashing.

Lucky: "ESPIII! ESPIII!"

Luckily Lucky wasn't strong enough to push both Ness and Lucas off. They continued to hold the poor Pokemon down until he was able to relax.

P. Roland: "Well, that was… Something."

Ness: "Sorry about my Espeon."

P. Roland: "It's ok. I've dealt with worse."

Lucas: "Worse?"

P. Roland: "Let's just say giving a Buzzwole his shots is a nightmare."

Ness: "You mean the giant buff Pokemon?"

P. Roland: "It's an ultra beast."

Lucas: "A what?"

P. Roland: "A legendary."

Lucas: "A legendary?!"

Ness: "Wait, we have one in the daycare."

P. Roland: "Yes, I know. I gave him his shots this year. I almost died."

Ness: "Oh my god!"

Professor Roland rolled up his sleeves and flexed his muscles.

P. Roland: "Don't worry. This old coot still got it."

Ness: "That's… Good to know."

P. Roland: "Anyway, your Espeon is healthy for the most part. I would change brands, but don't change it abruptly. I'd ease into it. It takes a while for Eeveelutions to get used to a brand new diet."

Ness: "Oh…"

P. Roland: "Yeah, sorry. But hey, Lucky is healthy!"

Ness: "I'm glad to hear that. Thank you."

Ness, Lucas, and Lucky left the clinic.

Ness: "Mission completed!"

Lucas: "Nice!"

Lucky: "Espii!"

Ness: "I guess I should head to the Pokemart now."

Lucas: "Good idea."

The two went to the Pokemart and Ness went with the brand that Professor Roland suggested. After that Ness felt spendy. He wanted to treat Lucky more.

Ness: "Want to go to the mall?"

Lucas: "Oh my gosh! Yes!"

The two crossed the Eldin Bridge and went to the mall.

Lucas: "Where should we go first?"

Ness: "I was thinking about getting some clothes for Lucky."

Lucas: "Whaaaat. That sounds adorable~"

Ness: "I know right!"

The two went into a Pokemon clothing store. They mainly had clothes for popular small Pokemon like dog, cat, and rodent types. They obviously had a whole section for Eeveelutions.

Ness saw some cute outfits and bought them without hesitation. It was weird seeing Ness shopping and getting all excited over the outfits. It's not like him. In fact, he never wants to go out let alone shop.

Lucas: "I didn't know you liked shopping so much."

Ness: "Really?"

Lucas: "We never go to the mall."

Ness: "I like shopping. I've always had."

Lucas: "Seriously?"

Ness: "I guess usually I would go alone."

Lucas: "Why not invite me you asshole."

Ness: "I don't know. I figured it's because shopping for clothes for myself is embarrassing."

Lucas: "What! You thought I would make fun of you?"

Ness: "I guess unconsciously."

Lucas: "Ness… I would never."

Ness: "Haha… S-sorry. I shouldn't have assumed."

Lucas: "Dummy."

Ness: "But hey! You know now that we're here, we could… I don't know, try on some outfits. I don't have a lot of clothes so…"

Lucas: "I would love to."

Ness: "You don't think it's girly or anything, right?"

Lucas: *Snickers* "Men shop for clothes too. There's dedicated clothing stores for men, you idiot."

Ness: "Y-you're right! That was a stupid question."

Lucas: "C'mon, let's go shopping. I haven't in a while. It sounds like fun."

Ness: "Ok!"

The two went to some stores. Ness was uncomfortable at first because he's not used to trying out clothes in front of other people. However, Lucas was getting all excited and he kept complimenting him.

After hanging out and buying new clothes, they left the mall and Ness walked Lucas back to his room. Ness stayed for a little bit, but his social battery was low, so soon after he left.

Lucas was now all alone in his room. He played some Street Fighter until nighttime hit. He laid on his bed and texted his best friend.

Lucas: Today was fun

Ness: It was!

Lucas: See shopping for clothes with friends is nice I told ya

Ness: I know. Sorry if I was uncomfortable at first. I really did have fun.

Lucas: You looked cute with those new outfits [draft]

Lucas was afraid of sending it. What if Ness gets uncomfortable? He knows it's weird to call your friend cute, but if it's about the clothes does it still make it awkward? No, the word 'cute' might put him off. He deleted the draft.

Ness: It's so similar to the clothes I have though.

Lucas: Still. I like it. You got style

Ness: Thanks! I liked your outfits too!

Ness liked his outfits! He wondered if Ness thought Lucas looked cute with the new clothes on. No, what is he thinking? He only thinks of him as a friend. It's nothing but a friendly compliment.

Ding!

His toxic thoughts were interrupted. He checked the message and his heart skipped a beat.

Ness: My favorite is when you wore that blue flannel. You look good with blue. Oh especially turquoise. That's totally your color.

Lucas: Really? Turquoise?

Ness: Yeah I think so. Blonde hair blue eyes with a turquoise flannel is a good combination. You should wear a darker color with your shirt. That way your outfit isn't too bright. I'm thinking maybe brown.

Lucas: Geez Ness I didn't know you cared so much about fashion

Ness: I really like clothes. It's something I don't like to admit because my family would call me girly for it.

Lucas: I don't think it's girly

Ness: Thanks for not judging me for it lol

Lucas: Did you just say 'lol'?

Ness: Oh I guess I did, huh?

Lucas: Who are you and what have you done with the real Ness

Ness: Haha very funny. I use acronyms sometimes.

Lucas: No you don't

Ness: I don't? I thought I did.

Lucas: It's my first time seeing you use an acronym

Ness: Seriously?

Lucas: It's weird

Ness: I'm a normal person.

Lucas: No you're not

Ness: I can be ;-;

Lucas: Stop. It's weird

Ness: Hahaha! I did that one on purpose.

Lucas: You're not my Ness

Ness: Your Ness?

Lucas: Sorry I din't mean to say it like that

Lucas: *didn't

Ness: I'm the one and only Ness. The best Ness.

Lucas: Idk lately you've been acting strange

Ness: In a good way, right?

Ness: You're good. I just want to make sure I'm not being a jerk and all.

Lucas: No of course not! Sorry I thought we were still joking

Ness: Hey if I ever do something that makes you upset, can you please tell me. I'm not always aware.

Lucas: Ok.

Ness: No seriously. If you feel upset please talk to me. I can't improve unless I know what I'm doing wrong.

Lucas: You're not gonna get mad?

Ness: I might be a little upset at first, but I need to get over it.

Lucas: I don't want to make you upset

Ness: If I get upset then I'm just being a bitch. I'd rather realize and be upset than never realize.

Lucas: Ok I'll try

Ness: Try?

Lucas: Idk I'm not the best when it comes to confrontation

Ness: I'm sorry if I made you afraid of me…

Lucas: No I've always been liek this

Ness: Are you sure?

Lucas: Yeah it's something I need to work on

Ness: Well my goal is for everyone to enjoy being around me. I would like to be more approachable.

Lucas: It's working

Ness: You think?

Lucas: I know

Ness: That's nice to hear. I'm glad I'm making you happier than how I used to.

Lucas: Ty Ness I appreciate it

Ness: Anyway I'm going to sleep. I got work tomorrow.

Lucas: Ok goodnight

Lucas charged his phone and put it on his nightstand. He stared at the ceiling. Ness complimented his look! He felt unbelievably happy. There it is. Either happiness or sadness. Never in between when it comes to Ness. Never in between.
