FADE IN:
INT. AIRSHIP - DAY
The door of the airship is wide open.
The airship is above the Emerald Forest.
YORUMI MIDORI and ASHEN PINE are in an airship.
MIDORI: Ever heard of a landing strategy before?
Ashen teleports away.
EXT. SKY - DAY
The crisp blue sky above the green trees.
Ashen ends up teleporting into the middle sky and starts falling.
ASHEN (shirking): AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
He teleports again. He is closer to the trees, but still falling.
ASHEN (shirking): AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
He teleports once more.
EXT. EMERALD FOREST - DAY
The emerald-green forest stretches out for miles.
Ashen lands on solid ground.
ASHEN (breathing heavily): I'm alive.
Midori slams into the ground, right next to him, with Midori's gun landing near Ashen's feet.
Midori is snoring, drool coming out of his mouth.
Ashen cocks his head and picks up the closest stick to him. Ashen jabs Midori with the stick.
Midori is dead-sleep.
CRASH!
Trees are crashing down in a pathway that is aimed at Ashen and Midori, by a ursa minor. HAIL SCHNEE and YING BELLADONNA-XIAO LONG are riding the back of the beast.
As the rampaging ursa minor gets closer to them, Ashen grabs Midori's pistol and jumps in-front of the sleeping Midori.
Ashen pulls the trigger and the bullets hit.
The ursa minor is killed, Hail and Ying fall to the ground as grimm turns to black dust.
Midori slowly starts to wake up and get off the ground.
ASHEN: Why were you riding an ursa!
YING (beams): I was in a tree and I fell on it. I kept riding because it was fun!
HAIL: Same answer.
ASHEN (groans): Yeah! Sounds like ya two!
YING: Why the heck are you here? Aren't supposed to be working at a bookstore?
Midori snatches his Peashooter back from Ashen.
MIDORI: He's with me. Nightmare hunting.
ASHEN: One of my sisters is in danger! Have you seen Selene and/or Summer anywhere?
YING: Not since the start of initiation!
HAIL: Though, everyone is trying to find the "relics" and each set of partners gets one.
EXT. TEMPLE - DAY
Mixed with the cluster of trees are temple ruins.
SELENE ROSE spots the temple ruins with the mini replicas of the relics: Creation, Destruction, Knowledge, and Choice.
Five boned-striped, a type of grimm that have bones that striped their cat-like bodies like a tiger pattern, blocks her path. With her weapon in hand, she readies herself for a fight.
The group of boned-striped charges at her. She shoots off the blade of her scythe, launching into the skull of the first boned-striped. The first boned-striped dies.
With her gravity dust crystal, she flings around her scythe's blade into the air and right into another boned-striped. The second boned-striped dies.
The third and fourth bone-striped quickly gets close to Selene. The third and fourth bone-striped swipe at her with their cat-like claws. Selene uses the snatch of her scythe like a staff and swiftly blocks each of the bone-striped swipes.
She flings her scythe's head into the third and fourth bone-striped, killing both grimm.
The fifth bone-striped leaps at Selene, she jumps backwards in response, but only ends up falling backwards into the ground.
The fifth boned-striped opens its jaw wide-open, mere inches away from Selene's face.
Selene freezes.
In an instant, the fifth bone-striped is hit by a chuck of lightning dust from above and is lit up like a Christmas tree. The fifth bone-striped is dead.
REN MEIYUN hops down from a nearby tree.
SUMMER ROSE THE SECOND is flying above as Meiyun kills boned-striped saving Selene.
She reaches out a hand to Selene.
MEIYUN (flirts): Hi cutie.
Selene slightly blushed.
SELENE (stammers): Th-anks.
Selene grabs Meiyun's hand, as she does Selene is lit up like a Christmas Tree.
SELENE: OW!
Meiyun reveals in her hand was a piece of lightning dust.
MEIYUN (laughs): You got to admit, that was a little funny
Selene gets herself off the ground.
SELENE (unenthusiastically): Do you have a partner, yet?
Meiyun shakes her head "no".
SELENE: I guess we're partners then.
Selene walks towards the replica of the relics. She picks the relic of choice.
Summer flies down and She lands right next to Meiyun.
SUMMER (at MEIYUN): Lucky you Meiyun, you're the first person I've seen. Looks like you're my partner.
Meiyun points at Selene.
MEIYUN: I'm already partners with Selene.
SELENE (mutters to herself): It's always a competition with you, Summer.
ORBIT SUSTRAI and EMI SCHNEE-ARC come out from the trees.
SUMMER: I know Meiyun, but I'm sure don't stuck with saving your partner all the time. I've been saving Selene since we were children.
Selene brings head to the ground.
EMI (backhanded): Really? Bringing that up, again. I think poor Selene is sick hearing that story.
SELENE (defensive): We don't have to bring it up now.
ERICA: Everyone is curious now.
Selene is nervously shaking. She grabs her arm.
MEIYUN: We don't need to know-
SUMMER (interrupts MEIYUN): It started in the forest behind our backyard.
Everyone is not paying attention to the forest that surrounds them, as a nightmare possessed by Summer.
EXT. FOREST - NIGHT (FLASHBACK)
The shattered pieces of the moon are shining over the forest.
The dead leaves are falling from the surrounding trees.
Three dire wolves stand above a YOUNG SELENE ROSE, blocked off her pathway home.
YOUNG SELENE ROSE, 12, she is wearing a hood like RUBY ROSE's V4 design, except pink. She is holding a beta version of her scythe.
Young Selene charges up her semblance, as a YOUNG SUMMER THE SECOND comes running down the pathway.
YOUNG SUMMER ROSE THE SECOND, 10, she is still wearing her red hood.
Young Summer watches as her sister's pink blast turns all the trees in its path to ashes, but misses all the dire wolves.
As Young Selene begins to blackout from her semblance, one of the dire wolves lunges at her jaw wide-open around her arm.
Young Summer's silver eyes flicker.
YOUNG SUMMER: SELENE!
As the dire wolf was mere seconds from biting off Young Selene's arm, the glorious light of silver was filling the forest. Her silver eyes are activated
The direwolves are dead. Young Selene is saved.
EXT. TEMPLE - DAY (PRESENT)
The wind was blowing the leaves around.
SUMMER: Ever since that night, Selene has been too afraid of her semblance.
Summer looks at Meiyun.
SUMMER: Do you really want that type of partner?
Meiyun walks over to Selene.
MEIYUN: Like I told you before, Selene is my part–-
SUMMER (Interups MEIYUN): I saw your fight! She couldn't kill that bone-striped by her—-
MEIYUN (disdain): Selene killed four bone-striped by herself! I killed the last one! Like was I saying before, Selene is my partner. GET. YOUR. OWN. SUMMER.
Selene blushes at Meiyun.
EMI (smug): Plus, Summer really does have the right to talk. Ever since that night, she hasn't been able to use her silver eyes.
SUMMER (fumes): Emi!
Emi walks up to Summer and gets up into her face.
EMI (smug): What! It's true! You haven't been able to use your special eyes, once! Never since that night!
MEIYUN (at SUMMER): Wow! You were the one talking trash about your own sister!
Meiyun also gets up in Summer face.
MEIYUN (Smirks): If you want to talk trash, you gonna get trash back. Why can't she now? It just doesn't make sense.
Summer takes a step back, before crashing into the ground. Summer falls asleep.
Selene shoves passed Meiyun and Emi to her fallen sister.
Ashen, Midori, Hail, and Ying stumble upon the temple.
The far side of the structure from the rest of the group.
Ying picks up the sword and holds it up to Hail and Ashen. Midori continued forward.
YING: Which one is this one called, again?
HAIL: That's the relic of destruction!
ASHEN: Isn't it riveting how now we know what the relics looked like. The school changed the "relics" from chess pieces to actual replicas of the relics.
Ashen picks up the relics of knowledge and creation.
ASHEN: Like this! These are based on the lamp and the staff.
HAIL: I only knew the sword of destruction because...
Hail shakes Hail and Storm.
YING: Nerds.
They all laugh.
MIDORI: Hey! I found your sisters!
Ashen bolts to Midori, slipping the "relics" into his pocket. Hail and Ying follows after him.
Midori and Selene stood over Summer as Ashen, Hail, and Ying got there.
ASHEN (panic): Summer! What happened?
SELENE (worry): Summer suddenly fell asleep!
Summer's mouth is open, drooling.
Midori pops open his Peashooter and emptying out his regular bullets.
MIDORI: The nightmare is already in your sister.
Midori opens up the palm of his hand, his hand glows green. Several green pea-shaped balls appear. He loads them into his gun.
ASHEN: What are those?
MIDORI: My semblance. I call it "Pea". It can send you into your sister's dream with them.
ASHEN: Like Shion's semblance?
MIDORI: Sort of like my master's semblance. My semblance does work a little bit differently. The big difference is once you enter the dream with a nightmare inside, you can't leave the dream until the nightmare is defeated. No exit and no outside communication.
Midori spins the barrel of the Peashooter, ready to fire.
MIDORI: Who's going in?
ASHEN: I am!
Hail raised their hand.
YING: Heck yeah!
SELENE (hesitantly): I will, too.
There is a pause of silence.
Ashen is waiting for Emi's response.
MIDORI: Four is enough.
Midori shoots a pea in Summer's open mouth.
ASHEN (shirking): AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
MIDORI: Now, open wide!
Midori shoots a pea into Ashen's screaming mouth.
INT. SUMMER'S NIGHTMARE - NIGHT
The nightmare in a black void.
Ashen, Selene, Hail, and Ying enter the nightmare. Selene, Hail, and Ying have their weapons in the nightmare and are unchanged in appearance.
Summer is floating in the center. Thorny vines and giant silver roses surround her. Summer's eyes are shut. No matter how hard she tries to open them, her eyes stay shut.
Selene, Hail, and Ying attack the vines with their weapons.
One of the vines quickly whips towards Ashen.
Before Ashen has a chance to dodge out of the way, he disappears from the nightmare.
EXT. TEMPLE - DAY
The grass blows in the wind.
Ashen wakes up. He is lying on the ground.
MIDORI: You already defeated the nightmare?
ASHEN: No.
MIDORI): I'm not following. What happened?
ASHEN: It's like my semblance accidentally teleported me out of the dream?
A pause of silence.
MIDORI: Our semblances might have mixed.
ASHEN: What?
MIDORI: Instead of using your semblance in the dream, it teleported out of the dream.
ASHEN: I wasn't trying. It's just new and I accidentally teleport when I don't want to sometimes.
MIDORI: Here's what I'm thinking: when you accidentally use your semblance, it accidentally mixes with my semblance. Accidentally, kicking me out of the dream.
ASHEN: Creating an exit, but I have no control over it.
ORBIT: That's a whole lot of "accidentally".
The nightmare flies right out of Summer.
MIDORI: Does anyone have a jar?
Orbit reaches into her pouch and pulls out a shoots the nightmare, turning it back into a seed. Orbit captures the seed with the jar.
Hail, Ying, Selene, and Summer wake up.
MIDORI: Let's end your initiation.
EXT. CLIFF - DUSK
The sun is setting over the cliff.
Everyone is back on top of the cliff.
HEADMASTER ASTRO is standing there, waiting.
HEADMASTER ASTRO: Welcome back my new students for all who brought back their "relics"...
Ashen notices Orbit starts to walk off with her head hanging low. He follows her.
ASHEN: Is everything fine?
ORBIT: I just realized neither my partner or I grabbed a relic back at temp—-
ASHEN (cuts off ORBIT): Oh! Wait…
Ashen reaches into his pocket and hands Orbit the staff of creation.
ASHEN: I might have snagged two "relics" back in the Emerald Forest by mistake.
ORBIT (smiles): Thank you.
ASHEN: Happy to help, Orbit.
Headmaster Astro finishes his monologue and the majority of the new students walk away from the cliff-side, only Headmaster
Astro and Summer remain with Ashen.
HEADMASTER ASTRO: Mr. Ashen Pine? Could spare you for a second?
Ashen nods.
HEADMASTER ASTRO: Are you certain you don't want to attend Beacon Academy?
ASHEN: I think you know my answer.
HEADMASTER ASTRO: Consider this, you have passed the entrance exam and initiation.
ASHEN: How did I pass the initiation? I only got the "relic".
SUMMER (awkwardly): Ummm…actually big bro could you be my partner?
Ashen looks at Summer with a face of disbelief.
SUMMER (awkwardly): Also, I didn't snag a "relic".
HEADMASTER ASTRO: If a person does not have "relic" and a partner by the end of initiation, they are expelled.
ASHEN (groans): Those are the rules.
Ashen hangs his head in defeat.
INT. AUDITORIUM - NIGHT
The raised stage with a podium.
A glowing screen is above the stage It displays students' names and faces.
Headmaster Astro is at the podium, listing off the teams.
Ashen's head is still hanging in defeat.
Ashen stares at his scroll. The scroll has an email from Solar Bookstore on the screen. The email states that he is fired.
HEADMASTER ASTRO: Ren Meiyun, Orbit Sustrai, Selene Rose, and Erica Schnee-Arc form the team ROSE. Ren Meiyun is the team leader.
Ashen perks his head up. Ashen looks over to Emi and Selene, smiling as he sees their overjoyed faces.
HEADMASTER ASTRO: Ashen Pine, Summer Rose The Second, Hail Schnee, and Ying Belladonna-Xiao Long form the team ASHY. Ashen Pine is the team leader.
Ashen's face is filled with horror.
ASHEN (mutters): Why am I the leader?
INT. ROSE'S DORM - NIGHT
The shattered moon beams light through the window. The dorm looks untouched.
Selene Rose stands alone in the dorm, her suitcase in her hands.
She sits on one of the neatly made beds, placing her suitcase down at the foot of the bed.
Selene falls asleep.
FADE TO BLACK.
