A/N: This was a tough one to think of, until I suddenly thought of an idea, and I loosely adapted one of my ideas from the cutting room floor of Operation Endgame!
Also, I'm issuing a WARNING for a physical injury.
Without further ado, let's move on to the reviews and what matters most: the prompt!

I would imagine Amy knows the most about Fire Emblem, then Chris, then Tails.

Surprisingly enough, I've never seen Dune before, but there's a first time for everything!

Same here, Chris has always been insecure when it came to being alone, and I too wish I could be there to help him.
Day Eleven: Seeing Double
Prompt: Loneliness
Chris would never have imagined that an ancient island with technology that far exceeded his own could possibly exist.
And yet he was on one such island with his friends.
And trapped inside a cave within tight quarters with countless robots patrolling the open cavern below him.
So how did he get in such a situation?
One of Mr. Tanaka's old college friends, Dr. Jun Atsumi, visited the mansion and told Chuck about the lost continent of Murasia. Atsumi had used an advanced computer program to locate the continent, which was situated along the equator in the Pacific Ocean. However, there was something on the island that Eggman was after, because Chris and his friends had discovered that he was after something on the island. Eggman managed to acquire an ancient map from the professor, and while no one knew what Eggman was doing, one thing was for sure: he had to be stopped.
After the journey to Murasia, Atsumi, Chuck, and the crew of the ship they were on prepared to research the island, and Sonic and his friends, minus Cream, came with them primarily because of Eggman's involvement. In fact, they engaged with him in his new battleship, which didn't last long thanks to the X-Tornado as well as Sonic and Knuckles' combined spin attack.
Now that they were on the island, Sonic, Knuckles, and Rouge had gone off on their own through one of the tunnels, and Chris didn't see which direction they went in. Meanwhile, Tails had finished repairing the X-Tornado, which had been damaged in the fight with Eggman, and he, Chris, and Amy ventured through the tunnel. They couldn't take the X-Tornado with them any further because the tunnels were too narrow.
The three of us were looking for Murasium to bring back to camp. Murasium was a type of mineral that was native to Murasia, and it was used to create practically everything on the island. Yet none of us knew what it looked like, despite it supposedly being plentiful on the island.
However, the three of us stopped when we felt vibrations.
"I-Is that an earthquake?" I asked, suddenly wary of my surroundings. Amy and Tails paused as they too tried to feel where the vibrations were coming from.
"Um… It's too constant to be an earthquake," Tails said at last. "And it doesn't seem to be coming from under us.
"Think there's a machine somewhere…?" Amy asked.
"Maybe?" Tails said with a shrug as he recessed on through the narrow tunnel. Amy and I followed him.
As we went, we noticed that the tunnel was getting more and more narrow, which meant every sound echoed around us, and it was getting slightly harder to breathe. Fortunately, Tails had a flashlight that he had brought with him, and he was using it to light our way through the tunnel.
"Is it just me or are the vibrations getting louder…?" I asked.
"Now that you mention it… yeah, they are getting louder," Amy noted. She put her hand against the wall next to her for a sense of direction in the darkness, but some of the stones holding up the wall fell loose and landed on the ground.
"What was that…?" Tails asked, suddenly alert.
"This cave is not sturdy," Amy said, glancing around. "Guys, I think we should get out of here."
"Okay, just a little more and then we can turn around," Tails said. "There's gotta be Murasium around here somewhere–"
And then the cave opened up to what looked like a giant chamber. There was a massive metal wall in the distance in front of them, and it appeared to be rounded. Chris realized this was the source of the vibrations.
The three of them stood there in complete surprise. This was the last thing any of them were expecting.
"What is that…?" Chris whispered as Tails turned off his flashlight.
"I don't know…" the fox said, his eyes adjusting to the dimly lit chamber ahead of us. "But the way the construction of that wall is… it almost reminds me of Eggman…"
"Wait, are you saying Eggman's building something down here?" Chris asked in surprise.
"I wouldn't be surprised…" Tails noted, his namesakes not moving an inch as he studied the wall. "If none of us knew Murasia was here, and he did… then that means he must have had a lot of time to make this."
"But what could it possibly be?" Amy asked.
As if to provide an answer, the vibrations increased even more, and the three of them yelped in surprise. Chris had to hold onto the cave wall to support himself. Only a few seconds later, they heard the sound of rocks falling behind them.
"The cave…!" Amy exclaimed as she ran back the way they came. She had to come to a stop six seconds later because there was a wall of rocks right in front of her.
"Guys…" Amy said, looking back behind her as Tails and Chris caught up. "Guys, we're trapped."
"Can you use your hammer to get us out?" Tails asked.
"Technically I can," Amy said, "but I don't wanna risk an even bigger cave-in."
"But then we can't get out otherwise!" Chris exclaimed.
"Unless…" Tails looked back at the metal wall in the distance. "…We face that thing…"
The three of them cautiously approached the end of the tunnel and stood at the edge. Chris looked down; there was a fifty-foot dropoff, but what alarmed him even more was the sheer number of Badniks roaming around at the bottom. They were loading several boxes of supplies inside the metal wall.
"What if that's not just a wall?" Tails asked. "What if it's his new base?"
"But we saw him a lot lately," Chris said, "so how could he make a new base here if he's not even in it?"
"I don't know…" Amy said, taking a step closer to her friends. "For all we know, it could be something even bigger than that."
"What if–"
Suddenly an alarm sounded from the chamber below them, and the robots immediately turned and looked up at them.
"Aaaand we're caught," Tails said in dismay.
He realized they had no choice but to fight the robots, but right as he backed away from the edge to contemplate a plan, one of them opened fire. Several lasers struck the bottom of the cave opening, which happened to be right under where Chris was standing. His reaction time wasn't fast enough, and part of the tunnel collapsed from under him, and with a scream, he fell forward into the chamber.
"Chris!" Tails and Amy exclaimed at the same time, but sadly, neither of them could react fast enough to prevent him from landing on the ground. There was a crunch, and Tails looked down to see that Chris' arm was now bent in an unnatural position.
He couldn't bear to look any more, but he had to help somehow.
He took off out of the tunnel and sped toward the nearest robots, punching, kicking, and tail-whipping them until they were little more than piles of scrap metal. The more he fought, the more angry he felt himself getting at what had just happened to Chris.
Meanwhile, Amy quickly made her way down from the tunnel to the ground and inspected Chris. She too was upset, but she was focused on trying to see if there was anything she could do to help him. She pulled out her cell phone and tried to call Chuck, but to her dismay, there was no signal.
As much as she wanted to help Tails fight the robots, Chris came first, and so did finding a way to escape from the tunnel. The Murasium had to wait, and so did finding out what Eggman was up to.
Chris, on the other hand, was a crying mess. He was sure more than his arm was broken on the stone floor of the chamber, and he couldn't move.
"It's gonna be okay, Chris," Amy tried her hardest to soothe him, even though she felt like crying herself. This should never have happened. "We're gonna get you out of here, I promise you it will be okay."
"I-It hurts all over…" Chris faintly said.
"I know, Chris, I know," Amy said, gently rubbing his back. It was all she could do until Tails cleared the room of robots. Looking down, she was amazed that there was very little blood on the ground from Chris' impact. However, that was very bad news since all his injuries seemed to be internal.
He needed urgent medical care right now.
"TAILS!" Amy shouted, and the fox stopped mid-punch. "Tails, he broke his arm, and it looks like he fractured a few ribs too! Forget about the robots, we have to get out of here!"
"But the cave-in–"
"Don't worry about that! I'll hammer as many rocks away as I have to so we can get Chris up to the surface!"
"O-Okay!"
Even as the robots approached, Tails tried to figure out a way to carry Chris without hurting him even more. However, it looked extremely difficult.
Several Crabmeats approached them, and Amy glares at them before pulling out her hammer.
"We're busy here!" she shouted before hammering them away.
Tails looked a bit flustered; he couldn't carry Chris by his arms because one of them was broken, and he could lift him by just one arm, and dragging him was certainly out of the question. He couldn't carry him around the waist or in his arms either because he was heavy, plus Amy told him he may have had fractured ribs.
However, there was a third option.
"Amy, you may have to get help alone," he said. "If you think you can make your way through the cave-in, go and bring help here and I'll hold off the robots."
"But Chris needs to get out–"
"We can't realistically do that right now," Tails said with regret. "I'm really sorry about that…"
"Okay…" Amy said. "Hang in there, Chris… I'm gonna get help, okay?"
"O-Okay…" Chris whimpered. Every part of his being hurt, and all he wanted was to rewind time five minutes when none of this happened. If only he hadn't been standing too close to the edge.
"I… I was too close to the edge…" Chris whispered as Amy finished climbing back up the rock wall and disappeared through the tunnel. However, Tails' sensitive hearing picked up every word, even as he was facing the robots that were approaching him and Chris.
"You didn't know they were going to shoot the rocks like that," Tails said, trying to see the good in the situation.
"I–" Chris coughed, and he was horrified to see blood on the ground in front of where his mouth was. It was a terrible sign of internal bleeding.
Tails' pupils shrunk. It was even worse than he thought. Not only was he angry at the robots for doing this to his best human friend, but there was a storm of negative thoughts in him.
What if Chris dies?
I should have done something to prevent this!
What if Amy doesn't get help in time?
The more he thought about it, the more tears started to prick his eyes, and his hands tightened into fists. Meanwhile, Chris felt his consciousness slipping, and he tried his hardest to stay away as long as he could, but he couldn't stop the abstract colors from taking over his vision.
"Don't worry, Chris," Tails said, glancing back at Chris. "We're gonna get you help– Chris?" Tails took a step toward him, but he didn't respond. "Chris!"
Darkness seeped in as Chris completely slipped out of consciousness.
"You're gonna pay, Eggman," he heard Tails say before everything went black.
A/N: That concludes day 12!
I kinda didn't want to do anything related to "starvation" or "cannibalism", so I immediately ruled those out. It was clear I wanted to write for "Underground caverns", but I also managed to fit "Just a little more" in there too.
Tomorrow's theme is "Team as a Family!"
