Pokedex Pursuit
Lincoln and his new friends continue down Route 2 on their way to Santalune City. They soon reach the forest that Lincoln and Professor Sycamore passed through in order to get to Aquacorde Town.
"This is Santalune Forest." said Trevor.
"I can't wait to see what kind of Pokemon live in here!" said Shauna.
"I saw a few kinds of Pokemon that did when I came through here earlier." said Lincoln.
"Like what?" asked Trevor.
"I don't want to spoil any surprises." said Lincoln.
"Yeah, I want to see for myself." said Tierno.
"Let's go then!" said Shauna as she runs into the forest.
"She seems excited to find some Pokemon." said Serena with a small laugh.
"I can relate to that." said Lincoln. He, Trevor, Tierno, and Serena than enter the forest to begin exploring. As they looked around, Shauna was looking up at the trees, not seeing a small rock in front of her; she trips over it. As she fell towards the ground, Lincoln grabs her shoulders, stopping her, and pulling her back up. "Are you okay, Shauna?"
"Yeah; thanks, Lincoln." said Shauna. She then notices Lincoln was still holding her shoulders and blushes; Lincoln realizes this also and he quickly lets go while blushing. As they look away, Lincoln sees a yellow, larva like Pokemon with a spike on its head.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln, pulling out the pokedex and pointing it at the Pokemon.
"Weedle, the Hairy Pokemon. Often found in forests and grasslands. It has a sharp, toxic barb of around two inches on top of its head." said Lincoln's pokedex. Lincoln puts the pokedex away and pulls out a pokeball.
"I'm catching this one; Fennekin, go!" said Lincoln, throwing Fennekin's pokeball and releasing her. "Okay, Fennekin, Ember!" Fennekin releases bits of fire from her mouth and they hit Weedle, doing super effective damage. The Weedle leaps at Fennekin and jabs her with its spike. "Use Scratch!" Fennekin scratches Weedle, dealing damage, and knocking it to the ground. Lincoln takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Weedle, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled around a few times until it clicked. "Yes! Weedle is mine!"
"Congratulations, Lincoln." said Trevor. Lincoln looks up Weedle's information on his pokedex.
"This says Weedle's a boy, he knows Poison Sting and String Shot; he has the Shield Dust ability which prevents secondary effects from attacks from taking effect." said Lincoln.
"So, no matter how many times Fennekin uses Ember on him, he'll never get burned?" asked Serana.
"Exactly." said Lincoln. As Shauna was looking at Lincoln with admiration, she hears rustling coming from some tall grass; she looks to see a green, caterpillar-like Pokemon crawling out of them. As she pulls her pokedex out of her purse to see what the Pokemon was, something leaps by and snatches it out of her hand.
"Hey, my pokedex!" said Shauna. Everyone looks around until they see two, cream, colored monkeylike Pokemon on a tree branch.
One had blue fur on the upper half of its head, blue ears and shoulders, a tuft of hair on top that resembled a geyser and a cream-colored tail with a blue shaped tip on the end of it.
The other had red fur on the lower part of its body, a red upper head, a tuft of hair on top that resembled a flame, and a red tail with a flame shaped tip on the end of it; they were on top of a tree branch and were joined by another monkeylike Pokemon with a green lower body, a green upper head that had a tuft of hair on top that resembled a shrub, and a green tail that had two, leaf shaped tips on the end of it that was holding Shauna's pokedex.
"What are those?" asked Lincoln as he takes out his pokedex and points it at the blue and cream colored Pokemon.
"Panpour, the Spray Pokemon. The water stored inside the tuft on its head is full of nutrients. It waters plants with it using its tail." said Lincoln's pokedex. Lincoln then points his pokedex at the red and cream colored Pokemon.
"Pansear, the High Temp Pokemon. Very intelligent, it roasts berries before eating them. It likes to help people." said Lincoln's pokedex. Lincoln then points at the green and cream colored Pokemon that had Shauna's pokedex.
"Pansage, the Grass Monkey Pokemon. It shares the leaf on its head with weary-looking Pokémon. These leaves are known to relieve stress." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"Okay, give me back my pokedex!" exclaimed Shauna. The Pansage pulled down its right eyelid while sticking its tongue out at her.
"That wasn't very nice!" said Lincoln.
"Give Shauna back her pokedex!" said Serena. The Pansage, Pansear, and Panpour all start leaping through the trees while tossing Shauna's pokedex back and forth to each other.
"Let's get them!" said Tierno as he and the others take off after the monkey Pokemon who then each go off in seperate directions when they noticed they were being chased.
"Which one had my pokedex?" asked Shauna.
"I couldn't tell from here." said Trevor.
"If they can split up, then so can we." said Serena.
"I'll go after the Pansage." said Trevor as he takes off in the direction the green monkey Pokemon went it.
"Me and Serena will go after Pansear." said Tierno as he and Serena went after the red monkey Pokemon.
"Then it's just you and me going after Panpour." said Shauna to Lincoln; he nods in response. The group splits up in pursuit of the mischievous Pokemon.
In a part of Santalune Forest, Trevor was looking around for Pansage and soon spots him relaxing on a rock.
"I don't see Shauna's pokedex with Pansage." said Trevor as he pulls a pokeball off his waist. "But I'll catch it anyway." He tosses his pokeball, letting out his Pikachu, getting Pansage's attention.
"Pikachu, use Thunder Shock!" said Trevor. His Pikachu releases a jolt of electricity at the Pansage, hitting it, but not doing much damage; the Pansage starts to twitch a bit. "Looks like it's paralyzed." The Pansage manages to fight through its paralysis and gives Trevor's Pikachu a scratch across its face. "Pikachu, use Quick Attack!" His Pikachu moves towards the Pansage with incredible speed and rams it, knocking it to the ground. Trevor takes an empty pokeball out of his pocket and throws it at the monkey Pokemon, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Yes!" cheered Trevor before he runs over to his newly captured Pansage's pokeball and picks it up; he then uses his pokedex to look up its information. "My new Pansage is a boy, he knows Scratch, Play Nice, and Leer; he has the Overgrow ability which will power up his grass moves when he's weakened enough."
While Trevor goes off to see how everyone else was doing, Serena and Tierno were still chasing after the Pansear.
"Do you see Shauna's pokedex, Serena?" asked Tierno.
"No, but let's catch it anyway so it doesn't cause us trouble later on." said Serena.
"Corphish, go!" said Tierno, throwing Corphish's pokeball and releasing it.
"You too, Froakie!" said Serena, throwing Froakie's pokeball and releasing it. "Okay, Froakie, use Bubble!"
"You too, Corphish!" said Tierno. Froakie fires bubbles from its mouth while Corphish fires bubbles out of its pincer; they hit Pansear, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it to the ground. It gets up and runs at Froakie and Corphish; it scratches them across their faces, knocking them back.
"Corphish, Vice Grip!" said Tierno. Corphish grabs Pansear's head with its pincer and begins squeezing it; it lets go of Pansear and it collapses. Tierno takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Pansear; it gets sucked into the pokeball and it wiggled around a few times until it clicked. "All right! Pansear's mine!"
"Good work, Tierno." said Serena. Tierno uses his pokedex to look up Pansear's information.
"My Pansear's a boy, he knows Scratch, Play Nice, and Leer; he has the Blaze ability which powers up his fire type moves when his energy is low." said Tierno.
"Tierno! Serena!" Trevor's voice calls out, making the two look to see him running towards them.
"Trevor. Did you find that Pansage?" asked Serena.
"Yes, I caught it, but he didn't have Shauna's pokedex." said Trevor.
"Neither did Pansear." said Tierno.
"I guesss Panpour must have it then." said Serena.
"Do you think Shauna and Lincoln found it?" asked Trevor.
"Let's go find them." said Tierno before the three started looking for their other two friends.
Meanwhile, in another part of Santalune Forest, Lincoln and Shauna were walking around while looking up in the trees for Panpour.
"Where is it?" asked Shauna.
"We'll find it." said Lincoln. The two kept looking around until they see the Panpour, sitting up in a tree on a branch, tossing Shauna's pokedex up and down in its hand.
"Hey, be careful with that!" said Shauna, getting the Panpour's attention.
"Why did it and its friends want with your pokedex?" asked Lincoln.
"I don't know, but it's still mine!" said Shauna.
"Give that back to Shauna right now!" said Lincoln. Panpour responds by shaking its butt towards them and slapping it, making Shauna tremble with rage.
"Why you little..." Shauna said before she runs over to the tree and starts climbing it.
"Be careful, Shauna." said Lincoln. Shauna soon reaches the branch that Panpour was on and grabs it; she starts to pull herself onto it when the mischievous monkey Pokemon swipes at the part of the branch that's connected to the tree, breaking it off, and making Shauna falls towards the ground while Panpour clings to the tree.
"Shauna!" said Lincoln as she runs to where his friend was gonna land and catches her in his arms; but due to the sudden event and the fact that Lincoln didn't have time to get into a solid stance, he falls back onto the ground with Shauna right on top of him.
"Thanks." said Shauna.
"No problem." said Lincoln before he and Shauna realize the position they were in, and that their faces were close together.
"This is kind of awkward." said Shauna with a blush. Panpour, seeing this, gets a mischievous smirk on its face; he suddenly jumps down from the tree it was on and lands on Shauna's head, making it move towards Lincoln's, causing their lips to touch each other's, making their faces turn completely red. When Panpour gets off Shauna, she and Lincoln quickly scoot across the ground while looking at each other with their faces still red.
'If my sisters were here, they will never let me hear the end of that.' Lincoln thought to himself.
"Let's not tell the others about that." said Shauna.
"Deal." said Lincoln. He looks to see Panpour, laughing at them. "Oh yeah?!" Lincoln pulls out a pokeball. "Let's see if you think this is funny; Bagon, go!" He throws Bagon's pokeball and releases him. "Bagon, use Leer!" Bagon glares at Panpour; it trembles while its defense weakens. It runs at Bagon and scratches him across his chest.
"Bagon, use Bite!" said Lincoln. Bagon runs at Panpour and bites it, dealing more damage than it normally would have due to its weakened defense; Panpour collapses to the ground. Lincoln takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Panpour, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled around a few times until it clicked. "Yes! Panpour is mine."
"Way to go, Lincoln." said Shauna. She sees her pokedex on the ground and picks it up. "Looks like my pokedex is okay." Lincoln looks up his Panpour's information on his pokedex.
"This says Panpour's a boy, he knows Scratch, Play Nice, and Leer; he has the Torrent ability which powers up his water type moves when his energy is low." said Lincoln. Shauna hears something apporaching; she looks to see the caterpillar-like Pokemon she was about to scan with her pokedex before Pansage took it. Shauna points her pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Caterpie, the Worm Pokemon. For protection, it releases a horrible stench from the antennae on its head to drive away enemies." said Shauna's pokedex. Shauna puts her pokedex away and pulls out a pokeball.
"Bunnelby, go!" said Shauna, throwing Chespin's pokeball and releases it. "Okay, Bunnelby, use Leer!" Bunnelby stares at Caterpie while his eyes glowed blue and Caterpie trembles while its defense weakens. The Caterpie crawls to Bunnelby and rams him, knocking him back.
"Bunnelby, use Tackle!" said Shauna. Bunnelby charges at Caterpie and rams it, knocking it to the ground. Shauna takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Caterpie, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled until it clicked. "Yes! I caught Caterpie!"
"Congratulations, Shauna." said Lincoln. Shauna takes out her pokedex and looks up Caterpie's information.
"My Caterpie's a girl, she knows Tackle and String Shot; she has the Shield Dust ability which prevents secondary effects from attacks from having effect on her." said Shauna.
"Shauna!" Serena's voice calls out, making Shauna and Lincoln look to see Serena, Tierno, and Trevor running over to them.
"You got your pokedex back!" said Tierno.
"That's good." said Serena.
"Why did Panpour, Pansage, and Pansear take it?" asked Tierno.
"Maybe they were just playing around." said Lincoln.
"That could be it." said Serena.
"Now that that's taken care of, let's keep going." said Trevor. As the group continues on through the forest, Serena notices that Shauna and Lincoln kept looking at each other with blushes on their faces.
"What's with you two?" Serena asked Lincoln and Shauna.
"NOTHING!" Lincoln and Shauna say in unison.
"Okaaaaaaaaaay." Serena said as she sweat drops. Lincoln and Shauna both let out sighs of exasperation.
Lincoln and his friends have reclaimed Shauna's pokedex, as well as captured new Pokemon for themselves. What else will Lincoln experience as his Kalos adventure continues?
