The world they knew was gone, the houses that people lived in were either dust or ruins, and the buildings they had grown used to seeing were scattered everywhere their broken forms looked like the corpses of giants.
Kazuma felt his skills flare and he just barely managed to grab both Sakura and Neal before pulling them back and stopping a man who had white hair a red coat and twin swords from killing them.
The man glared at them but before he could do anything a cold wind blew and they all felt their breaths stop.
"I see" a hollow voice spoke before the hand of a skeleton grabbed the stranger's hand and tore it out of the man's body.
"Kazuma, the man who dies and lives again." the skeleton said while pulling the other hand free from the man's body.
"How many times have we met child, and how many times will we meet again?" It asks him before opening its mouth and tearing the man's soul from his body.
None of them could move their bodies were frozen in fear and Kazuma tried to force his skills to react, but none of them worked for some reason.
The creature in front of them was nothing but a black rag that was full of holes and underneath it was the skeleton of a person but its eyes glowed with a power that seemed to hate everything and everyone around it.
"Mark has discovered the reason for the destruction of this world's people."
"Once again the planet used the actions of others to kill the Humans living on it, instead of those responsible for the disaster that occurred." it says to them each word seemed to force itself into their very being.
"Your master has called upon us, those whose purpose is the destruction of all things to this world as revenge for this planet's actions." it explains to them before floating aside and signaling to them that they were free to pass.
"Why would Mark do that? Doesn't he just steal everything of value from places like this?" Noel asks the skeleton who begins to laugh.
"Do you think that this world acted alone!?" it answered Noel while laughing at her question.
"Think of the other sides of the world, and think of the other planets do you think that they are innocent?"
"Couldn't they have stopped the extinction of your people!?"
"They didn't because they were the ones that caused it and humanity's last act of defiance is the destruction of those who killed it."
"Now go fulfill your mission!" it points at the path that's still covered in ruins and is still being bombarded.
"I will deal with this one alone." it says to them.
They turn and see a woman that has long blond hair, she is wearing a blue dress with silver armor and is holding a sword in her hands.
Kazuma knows the sword's name, he doesn't know how he knows it but he knows it's Excalibur.
"Go," the creature says to them before it flies towards the woman who charges at it.
A wave of power combined with powerful wind forced them to hold hands while they ran, more than once Kazuma felt his feet leave the ground only for someone to pull him back.
He had to do the same for everyone else and before he knew it he was exhausted, unfortunately, he couldn't stop running, the person they were looking for wasn't far.
He looked at his team and saw that they were gasping for air and were just as tired as he was. This wasn't a place they should be in, they didn't have the power to stand in a place like this much less fight anything here.
The machine in his pocket began to beep and he looked at it and closed his eyes, the person they were looking for was dead, they had failed and the machine was starting to power up.
It was going to take them home.
Everything seemed to go quiet and the sky began to turn red as the sun seemed to grow as something bit into it.
Kazuma felt his heart stop when a beam of red light flew toward him, he closed his eyes and accepted that he was going to die again, but when he opened his eyes he realized that he was still alive.
A naked woman with long red hair was stopping the attack, she turned and smiled at him and the rest of his team.
"Mark is dealing with the planet get out of here' the woman says to them.
"Who are you?" Sakura asks the woman between gasps.
"Me, I'm all of you silly." the woman answers Sakura before smiling at her even as her body is breaking apart.
"There is a point when babies become children, children become teenagers, teenagers become adults and adults become elders."
"I am all of that and none of that, I am that point when the change happens. That time that no one notices and is always ignored.'
"And I am the point when Humanety was born and I'm the point when Humanety dies." she says to them before vanishing, the beam of energy finally overwhelming her.
None of them said anything, not even after realizing that they had somehow returned to the church.
A loud crash was the only thing that made them react, they didn't know how long they had stood in the same place looking at where the woman died.
They found Mark injured but alive in his hands was something glowing its power could be felt by everyone in the building. If Mark knew it he didn't show it, he just placed the orb into a crack and sent it to the inbetween.
Mark grunts as he tries to stand up and he can see the pan-filled expressions that Kazuma's team has.
"I'll buy you guys some ice cream and some food. It takes us to where winning is impossible and like it or not we can't win but we can make sure that those that killed us don't win either." Mark says to them before leading them out of the church.
