Alola, Mega Evolution!

Location: Seafolk Village

It was time to head to the Battle Tree.

"Roto. So many battlezz coming up!"

"I know," I said before looking out to sea. "Sorry, mind is racing."

"I know that. Zzt zzt. But we can focuzz on Team Rainbow Rocket when they arrive again. I'm sure they have a plan in place. For now, let'zz get a move on!"

Taking Rotom's advice, I walked along the pier. But then I stopped. I thought I could see something familiar, but horrifying faint in the sky. Like... a wormhole. "Oh no," I said.

"What? Roto? Elliott, what did I juzzt tell you? Focuzz on the now!"

I shook my head quickly to snap out of things; maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me. "Oh, it's nothing. Let's make a move."

Location: Poni Wilds

We walked through the place where, fair to say, I was very familiar with now. At the same time, I prayed that what I thought I saw wasn't true.

"Okay, Roto. I know what'zz wrong; you're nervouzz about the Battle Tree! Zzt zzt! I don't blame you. All thezze strong Trainers, some of them Championzz of their rezzpective regionzz!"

"Yeah yeah," I said. "Rotom, mind if I just… be alone with my thoughts for a bit?"

Rotom Dex sighed. "Fine, but you will get nowhere if you don't talk about your problemzz, okay? Promizze you will well me at some point. I'm not juzzt some gadget, I'm your ally."

I smiled. "Thanks Rotom."

Location: Ancient Poni Path

Eventually we got to the ruined village. We still had a way to go, about a day in fact. I hadn't been to the Battle Tree before, so I couldn't use Charizard.

I decided enough was enough. "Rotom," I said. "There is…"

"Yeah?" Rotom Dex said.

"CONGRATULATIONS!" From round the corner, we saw Sina and Dexio run out.

"Did you guyzz juzzt uzze Astonish? You frightened uzz! Roto!"

"We're here to say thank you!" said Sina. "The Zygarde Cube! The amount of work you have put into it is phenomenal! I feel like… we are there! Look!" The Zygarde Cube was held up and out came a black and green serpentine Pokémon.

"Well, that's a bit of a lie," said Dexio.

"Hey! Roto! My entriezz are the truth! What do you mean?!"

"Because," said Sina. "We've found em all! We've scoured Alola and found all of the Cells! But even still, Zygarde still isn't at 100% yet. Which is why we need your help again."

"But," said Dexio. "We would like to reward you with something. May I have a battle before that though?"

"Sure thing!" I said.

"But… Roto. You were about to tell me-"

"Not now!" I said. "I need Battle Tree practice!"

Elliott Vs. Dexio

"Espeon, go!" Dexio shouted, sending out his Psychic Type Eeveelution.

"You're up Incineroar!" I replied.

"Espeon, Dazzling Gleam!" Espeon let out a shining light, damaging Incineroar.

"Darkest Lariat!" Incineroar span into Espeon for lots of damage.

"And now Dazzling Gleam again!" Espeon shone at Incineroar once more.

"Darkest Lariat!" Incineroar span into Espeon one more time, knocking it out.

"So that's how you wanna play! Go Raichu!" Next up was Raichu's Alola form. "Use Reflect!" Raichu made a shield of light surround itself. Physical attacks would now be halved as seen by a Darkest Lariat which didn't do as much as it normally would. "And now use Thunderbolt!" Raichu then shot lightning at Incineroar, taking it down.

"Thanks," I told it. "Next up, Mismagius!" I shouted.

"Raichu, use Psychic!" Raichu fired a Psychic blast at Mismagius.

"And now Shadow Ball!" Mismagius then fired a dark blob at Raichu. It took it down.

"Okay, you are pretty good. But that's what I expect from a Champion! Go Slowking!" Water and Psychic Type was next.

"Shadow Ball!" Mismagius fired another black blob. Slowking almost went down.

"Use Flamethrower!" Slowking shot fire at Mismagius. Wasn't expecting it to know a Fire Type move.

"Shadow Ball!" One more Ghost Type attack took down Slowking.

"Yeah! That's the stuff! Go Metagross!" Next up, a Steel Type.

"Shadow Ball!" Mismagius launched a Shadow Ball at Metagross. It did about half.

"Give it a Meteor Mash!" Metagross had a star on its hand which it then used to punch Mismagius. The Critical Hit defeated it.

I wasn't at risk of losing. "Go Lunala!" I shouted. "Moongeist Beam!" Lunala, using the power of the moon, fired a power beam of energy at Metagross. It went down.

"Well well well, final Pokémon time. Go Alakazam!" I saw Dexio smirk.

"What izz he planning? Roto?"

Dexio went into his Bag and pulled out a ring. "That can't be!" I shouted.

Dexio pushed the Key Stone on the Ring. "Let's do this Alakazam! MEGA EVOLVE!" A bright light shrouded Alakazam. We then saw a Pokémon with multiple spoons floating above it. It had a white beard to.

As a result of Mega Evolution, its power has been entirely converted into Psychic energy, and it has lost all strength in its muscles.

"Use Shadow Ball!" Mega Alakazam fired a black ball of its own. This defeated Lunala. The power of Mega Evolution; it was amazing!

"Thanks," I told Lunala. "Go Slowbro!" Out came a Psychic Type of my own.

"Shadow Ball!" Mega Alakazam fired another move at Slowbro. Thankfully, it missed.

"Use Ice Punch!" Slowbro punched Alakazam with a frozen fist. Mega Alakazam was frozen solid! "Now return!" I then sent out Snorlax. "Crunch!" Snorlax chomped down on Mega Alakazam. It was defeated.

"Mega Evolution. It's phenomenal."

Dexio smiled. "Even Mega Evolution can't overcome the Champion. Which brings me into your reward for helping us with Project Z as we call it." He handed me… a Mega Ring! A Key Stone! And a Mega Stone!

"NO WAY! ROTO! YOU MEAN… ELIOTT CAN MEGA EVOLVE NOW?!"

"He can't," Dexio said. "This is a Slowbronite. Have Slowbro hold this and, when your hearts are one, you can Mega Evolve!"

I took the Mega equipment out from Dexio's hands. "This… is amazing!" I said. "Now we can-"

Suddenly, we saw Anabel running towards our direction. "Oh, thank goodness I found you," she said.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"Just… we have a situation."

"We would like to come to," said Sina.

"Fine by me," I said.

"Then I'll allow it. Look."

Anabel pointed to the sky. An Ultra Wormhole was almost formed.

"Oh no," said Dexio. "Not this."

"This is what I was trying to tell you Rotom," I said. "But… I just wanted to focus on the present like you said."

"THIZZ IZZ THE PREZZENT!" Rotom Dex shouted. "But not the kind you want to get on your Birthday. Roto. Come on!"

Location: Poni Grove

We got to a small path with some trees. Waiting there was Looker, Hau and Wicke.

"Guys!" I said. "Looks like we're not finished with these things yet."

"Doesn't look like it," Hau replied.

Just then, the Ultra Wormhole let out a burst of energy. "It's fully formed!" Wicke panicked. Just then, some Pokémon came out. One was skinny and colourful with a round head. The other was cube shaped and glowing.

"Wicke!" I shouted. "What are they?"

"UB BURST and UB ASSEMBLY. The Aether Foundation have given them names though and descriptions."

When stone walls started moving and attacking, the brute's true identity was this mysterious life-form, which brings to mind an Ultra Beast.

"We need to stop them," I said.

"Hold on," said Wicke. She handed me and Hau some blue Pokéballs with a white web pattern. "These are Beast Balls. I designed them myself. They are specifically created to make Ultra Beasts easier to catch."

Me and Hau nodded to each other. "Let's do this," I said. Just then, another Blacephalon and Stakataka appeared from the Wormhole.

"One for each of us," Hau told me. That sounded fair.

Elliott Vs. Blacephalon

"First up, Incineroar!" I shouted. Blacephalon's head exploded, doing quite a bit to Incineroar. However, this was at the expense of Blacephalon's HP being cut in half.

"That was Mind Blown!" Wicke told me.

"Got it. Let's not knock it out. This needs to be caught. Incineroar! Flare Blitz!" Incineroar surrounded itself in fire and it crashed into Blacephalon. It almost went down. "Now, let's do it! Go Beast Ball!" I threw the weird Pokéball at the weird Pokémon. It went inside… and I caught it!

"Alright!" I said. "Okay. One down, one to go." I looked at Stakataka. "That Defense. Even Hariyama would have trouble getting through that. Unless?"

"Unlezz? Roto?"

I put on my Mega Ring. "Let's give it a test run."

I walked up to Stakataka. It looked at me with its many eyes.

Elliott Vs. Stakataka

"Go Slowbro!" I shouted. I lifted up my Mega Ring. "By the power of Alola…" Slowbro started glowing. "IT'S TIME TO MEGA EVOLVE!" When the light died, we saw that the Shellder that usually bites Slowbro's tail had taken over most of its body.

Having been swallowed whole by Shellder, Slowbro now has an iron defense. It's pretty comfortable in there, too.

"Amazzzing! Roto! Elliott, thizz izz your firzzt Mega Evolution!"

"Heck yeah! Slowbro, Surf!" Mega Slowbro surfed on a large wave that crashed into Stakataka, doing lots of damage to it. Though it didn't quite knock it out, that was the point. Stakataka then used Rock Blast where it… blasted rocks at Mega Slowbro. It barely felt a thing.

"Mega Slowbro's Defense is amazing! Okay, now that we've weakened Stakataka, let's catch it! Go Beast Ball!" I threw a Beast Ball and… Stakataka stayed inside!

"Woo," I said. "That was a lot of work."

"It was indeed," said Wicke. "Now, if I may have the Ultra Beasts."

Me and Hau handed the Pokémon over. "What will you do with them?" Hau asked.

"You see," said Looker. "Ever since Team Rainbow Rocket, the Aether Foundation have had to stay here for now. We're now doing ethical research into Ultra Beasts. Which… is why we need your help Elliott. We need you to go into Ultra Space every so often with another person to catch us two Ultra Beasts so we can study them. Would you do that for us?"

"Sure!" I said. "We're heading to the Battle Tree now, and I've already made some friends over there! I'm sure I can convince them!"

Location: Poni Plains

We all came out to a large open area called Poni Plains. It was here we decided to crash for the night.

"Wow," said Hau. "You can use Z-Moves AND Mega Evolution! That is amazing!" Hau looked around. We saw some Pyroar, a Gumshoos… lots of different Pokémon. "And all different Trainers coming together like this. We will take down Team Rainbow Rocket."

"Yeah," I said. "We will… I hope…"

Rotom's Move Dex!

Zzt! Elliott can uzze Mega Evolution now! Roto! To celebrate Mega Alakazam and Mega Slowbro, it'zz time for a Psychic Type move! Or movezz!

Power Swap, Guard Swap and Speed Swap!

They say what they do on the tin! Roto! They swap the statzz with the targetzz! Power swapzz Attack and Sp. Attack, Guard swapzz Defenzze and Sp. Defenzze and Speed swapzz… take a guess.

Alolan Raichu and Pheremosa can learn Speed Swap. Mr. Mime, Xatu and Umbreon can learn Guard Swap. Mr. Mime, Espeon and Tapu Koko can learn Power Swap.
