Her expression immediately softened. "Thanks, Shippou."
The kit's chest puffed out before instantly deflating. "I wanted to bring you a flower, but I didn't know which one you liked best."
Kouga smirked, mouthing 'I told ya so' behind his back. Kagome didn't get the chance to retort, which would've been a well-placed zap to his tail, as Shippou continued as if he wasn't there.
"Lord Sesshoumaru did, though! He said you like the soft scents the most. Whatever that means." He bounded back to the fire, tugging on Inuyasha's ears before yelling at him about who was supposed to eat their bounty first.
Kagome lifted the bloom to her face, inhaling deeply. The brush of youki signalled the daiyoukai's return, and she shivered as he entered the clearing. She would've scolded him for taking so long, but he closed the distance between them without a passing glance at anyone else. "I take it you enjoyed your gift."
She nodded. "Thank you for thinking of me."
The edge of his lips quirked. "I always think of you, Kagome." A dark flush stained her cheeks. One of these days she'd get used to his attention. Not that she wanted him to stop, but it was odd for him to be so open about it.
"Since when do you call anyone by their first name?"
