As I wrote this chapter, I watched old South Park episodes, with the one that made me laugh the most being 'Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society' as I watched this when I was ten, and while I never went monkey brain for a girl, it was a funny way for me and my friends to never let girls get between the bros.

No joke, but when I brought this up with a friend, he reminded me of how when we watched it, we decided that if we were to fight, we'd fight for honourable stupid stupid stuff, like who gets to play first(these were the PS3 days, and he only had one controller). His mom walked in on us beating the snot out of each other and was mortified, then confused, when she asked what drove us to do such a thing.

Chapter 29: Calvary Field

"Well then, we're right here!" Monoma pulled back his hair to show off their prize before taking out a trigger that Hatsume had given him. "Come and get us!"

His declaration was met with their enemies rushing him even faster, though team Shinso was one of the slower ones despite having started the closest to them. The four stayed back to the rear of the rest of the teams.

"Come on, we can take you all down!" Tetsutetsu roared, shifting to his steel form as if he planned to ram into them like a battering ram. Monoma liked the mindset, but that wasn't the plan, at least now, this part of the battle.

"I never said that we'll remain still and let them challenge us, Hatsume, Tsunotori!" Monoma pressed the trigger, activating his jetpack on his back. It was a little slow, but soon, he was blasting out a tremendous amount of compressed air. Hatsume hadn't designed it to allow for speedy use for the user and three passengers, but that was where their Hoover boots from before and Tsunotori's horns came in, as the former granted them additional lift and control, while the latter decreased the weight that the first two had to carry as Tsunotori hooked her horns into hers and Hatsume's shirts.

The result of this was team Monoma quickly escaping the encirclement around them, flying over the heads of their surprised competition as Monoma smirked down at them. "What the?" Midoriya wondered, seeing this.

Honenuki, the horse for his team, ticked his teeth at the move from Monoma's group. "Dammit, I can't attack him up there; we need to head for where they'll land!" He yelled as his team agreed, turning around to try and follow Monoma. They didn't plan to stay up there the entire time, right?

Tokage didn't have that restriction as she sent a hand towards Monoma. "Flying away won't save you, Monoma!" Hatsume saw the hand coming, and while it was strange to see a dismembered hand, she remained focused on her role.

"Incoming hand!" Hatsume called out, with Monoma touching Tsunotori's hair, copying her quirk as horns grow from his head.

"On it!" He replied as he fired off one of them, knocking Tokage's hand off course. Then he fired a second one to give a follow-up shot, which could have sent Tokage's hand to the ground, disqualifying her. So she called her hand back, giving them some breathing room, and Tokage took time to think of a new attack plan.

"Shadow monster!" Tsunotori directed their attention to a quirk beast coming right for them, one that shrugged off her horns. They had to shift their position so that when it clashed with them, it hit Tetsutetsu's steel body, its clawed hand hitting him hard, but his steel held strong.

"Denied!" Tetsutetsu yelled as Monoma quickly copied his quirk and countered with a steel right hook, getting a yell from the quirk as it retreated to its user, a boy who happened to have a dark raven's head. They got a chance to demonstrate that as the assault against them kept on coming, this time in the form of two cords flying towards them.

Again, he countered it with Tsunotori's copied quirk, their new attacker being annoyed by this. "Good, Tsunotori, Hatsume, keep your eyes on our flanks, Tetsutetsu, our front, and I'll watch the rear!" Monoma called out to his teammates, noting that the jetpack was approaching the safe operational time Hatsume had told him about. They'll need to land soon to give its compressor time to cool off.

"Right!"

"Attacking us from the front is a bad idea, and Hatsume got a good eye on her, so do I. Monoma copying quirks make this easy." Tsunotori cheered.

"I see a good spot to land. Get ready, Tsunotori!" Hatsume directed them to a clearer area of the field, away from the rest rushing to head them off.

"On it!" Tsunotori replied as they fired the Hoover boot they wore, with Hatsume wearing the right boot while Tsunotori wore the left one. Combined with the jetpack, that meant they had a smooth landing and could quickly get moving again. As they ran, Hatsume couldn't help but ask: "Didn't I tell you my babies were the best? They're super cute! Cuteness can be made, you know."

"If I doubted you before, I don't know. They're magnificent, truly first class. I wouldn't mind contracting you in the future should I ever have some…babies." Monoma replied as he adjusted his headband, Tetsutetsu pulling them along like the steelwork horse he was. Though his cheeks did get a light red dusting at his phrasing

"I'll hold you to that, Mr. 5K! I'll be pumping them out for you if you keep giving them the spotlight." Hatsume laughed. Monoma, Tetsutetsu, and Tsunotori all went even redder at that image. Monoma hoped she never repeated them in polite company; otherwise, people would assume the worst. Watching them escape, the other teams doubled their efforts to catch up.

"Hurry, Koda. We need to catch them before someone else does!" An invisible girl wearing nothing but pants called, riding on the shoulders of her much taller classmate. The boy nodded his head but noticed something off about her, pointing out to her that her headband was gone. The girl stopped and felt around her head, but she didn't feel anything, nor could she feel it anymore. "When did that happen?!"

Shiozaki muttered an apology off to the side as one of her vines returned with the stolen headband, Shinso placing it around his shoulders and adding 90 points to their score. They weren't the only targets either, as with attention still on Monoma, team Shinso charged into team Rin. Shishida being their ram, the 3-man team lets out surprised shouts. "What the hell, guys?" Rin asked them, seeing they were now side by side with team Shinso being to their right.

Midoriya smiled at them. "Sorry." That was all the warning they got before his cheeks puffed out, and he fired off a thick cloud of smoke at them, blinding them and making it hard to breathe as they came to a stop, coughing as they tried to clear their lungs and clear the tear enduring smoke from their vision.

"What the heck, a smoke screen?!" Bondo, their frontman, asked before Rin felt something crawl up his back and wrapped around his head, more accurately, his headband. Reaching for it, he was too slow to stop as whatever was around him quickly retreated, taking their headband.

"Our points!" He yelled, but with the smoke still thick, they couldn't even try and counter as they didn't even know which way team Midoriya went, leaving them at 0 points while adding another 130 to their score, maintaining their second-place spot on the leader board with a new score of 840. Others noticed their stunt, and with Monoma proving too challenging to catch, especially with a timer to worry about, what started as an everyone vs Monoma became a free-for-all.

"Barely 2 minutes have passed, and already the teams have turned on each other! Fights have broken out over headbands all over the place! It's a dog-eat-dog world down there!" Present Mic noted that team Monoma dealt with fewer challengers as they turned on one another.

"Ignoring the 5000 points and trying to gain points from others isn't a bad strategy. After all, when climbing to the top, you're rarely the only one doing it." Vlad added, explaining why so many decided to stop chasing after the guaranteed first-place spot.

That change of objectives only meant that second place looked especially attractive as they had to dodge a laser fired at them; looking to the left, they saw that a group of class A students was coming right for them. Another 3-man team with the girl, one with weird earlobe-like cables, as the rider, while last place from the prelims was their front horse.

"They already have three headbands, but focus on the one on his head!" The rider reminded her team.

"But of course!" The frontman fired another laser, keeping them from retreating into the wider area, and they weren't the only ones, as Shiozaki noted.

"We're being boxed in; another team is coming for us. It's the same one that attacked Monoma with the shadow quirk!" Shinso and Midoriya looked and saw she was right, the quirk about to take a swipe at them. Midoriya spat a fireball at it to counter this, the attack hitting the quirk on one of its arms as it cried and retreated a little. To force it further back, he fired off another 3, the last aimed for the rider of the opposing team, forcing the shorter, pudgier boy to duck.

That wasn't the only counterattack happening as Shinso looked towards the other team and took a breath. "Hey, is all of class A as arrogant and idiotic as Bakugo? Cause if that's true, man, do I feel sorry for you!" He mocked them while tapping his chest, with all 3 showing how little they cared for his question as they glared at him.

Their frontman yelled back. "I resent that. He doesn't sparkle at all!"

While the rider kept it simple. "We're nothing like that arrogant asshole!" It didn't matter that they had different answers; all that mattered was that they replied to him as he smiled, tapping his chest again as he felt his quirk come into effect. Ojiro bumped into Jiro's butt, blushing at it, he looked up to apologize, but she didn't seem to react. Aoyama was the reason he did that, as he just stopped for some reason.

"Hey guys, we need to keep moving!" He yelled at them, but neither moved as team Shinso approached, the rider holding his hand to them.

"Hand over your headband." Ojiro felt like he was insane to think they, and then his jaw dropped when Jiro did just that; reaching up to her head, she casually pulled her headband off and handed their points over, all without a word. Ojiro looked up and saw Shinso smirking at his confusion; the confusion started to clear as he realized what must have happened, but he couldn't stop it as Shinso placed the headband around his neck.

"Thanks for that," Shinso stated as he released the two from his control, leaving them blinking away the fog that had fallen over them as they looked about in confusion. Ojiro yelled that they had just got duped as their score joined Koda and Hagakure's at the very bottom.

"And team Shinso gains their third headband, bumping their score up to an amazing 1,040. They were the first to break into the four digits outside first, which started there!" Present Mic announced as their second-place spot only grew stronger.

"Why am I tapping my chest again?" Shinso asked.

Midoriya, with his mouth still regenerating and leaking smoke, replied. "We can't stop people figuring out that your quirk can brainwash them, but we can trick them into thinking you activate it by looking at them and tapping your chest rather than being them replying to you." Shinso had to admit that it wasn't a bad idea; it was simple, but it was not bad. It would prove invaluable in the finals since those were always 1v1, at least if he wasn't placed against one of his teammates.

"Also, releasing them as soon as the deed is done ensures that the odds of someone figuring out a jolt can knock them free of your control. We'll be lucky that fellow didn't strike his teammates now, but we can't afford to be careless." Shishida added.

Shinso nodded before they turned to search for more prey, keeping an eye out for any surprises. They'll need to defend as much, if not more, than attack.

"Great, we need to worry more than Honenuki softening the field." Monoma cursed as they took to the air again, but much slower and less coordinated than before, as they had had the misfortune of stepping on a sticky purple ball thrown by that short guy in class A. In their escape, Hatsume's Hoover boot was wrecked.

"Oh, come on, that baby didn't blow up! Why'd it have to be torn apart?" Hatsume cried. She had gone through several prototypes to get to the finished model, and she didn't even need to use her quirk to tell that the damage wasn't something she could repair in time for the finals if they got to them, so she couldn't properly show them off!

"We'll just have to stomach it," Tetsutetsu replied before they heard an explosion, with Tetsutetsu and Tsunotori rocketing towards them. "Incoming!"

"Don't get carried away. You used car salesman!" Bakugo yelled as Monoma quickly copied Tetsutetsu's quirk, using one hand to block his face and the other to grab his headband; right in the nick of time, Bakugo hit him with a strong blast that early knocked him off his team, and sure as hell wobbled them with their diminished 3D control.

"What's with this guy? He's separated from his horses!" Present Mic stated as Bakugo glared at them. His assault failed as gravity started to take effect, and while Monoma and his team had a means to control their descent, Bakugo had to be bailed out by his team, as one of them used their quirk to wrap tape around him and pull him back in. "Is that even allowed?"

"So long as the rider doesn't touch the ground, they can do as they please!" Midnight answered the statement, which relieved Bakugo's team as they worried his hot-headedness could have gotten them disqualified. With team Monoma, they landed, finding that their speed was also down as they could only rely on Tsunotori's Hoover boot to help carry them along.

"My horns can help, but it means less attack." She suggested, which Monoma frowned at, as speed was good, but their plan required that along with a formidable defensive wall, so he had to decide which was the weaker of the two, and eventually, he picked defense.

"Do it; we'll just have to be creative with defense," Monoma replied, Tsunotori grunting in agreement as she fired off horns to Hatsume, which hooked her by her armpits to help carry her along, all four being careful to keep an eye out for others.

"Do you think Bakugo will leave us alone?" Tetsutetsu asked as Monoma saw Bakugo yelling at his teammates. Because things were so chaotic, he couldn't make out what was said.

"Of course not. He will try and attack and steal this headband until the time runs out." Monoma recalled what Midoriya had shared about his bully. He refused to see his and Midoriya's relationship as anything positive, even if Midoriya was hiding stuff and trying to spin what he did tell them in a positive light, and if there was one thing Midoriya made clear, it was that Bakugo was something that wanted to be the undeniable best, so he wouldn't accept anything less than first.

Considering that Monoma slapped him in the face by denying him that in the previous event, Bakugo might also want to target him just to get revenge for that slight against his ego. Though Monoma couldn't find it in himself to care too much about that, quite the contrary, as he loved the fact he managed to knock that pompous asshole down a peg.

"Hey, do we know who did that?" Hatsume pointed to the side, where they saw team Fukidashi partially sunken in the ground and half-frozen over. Honenuki looked highly pissed that he had been left to sit in his trap while Tsuburaba was vocal about it. "That was a dick move, Todoroki!" He yelled as Fukidashi tried to warm them up with his quirk, but his headband was already gone, and it didn't take a genius to figure out who had taken it.

Team Todoroki was already moving onto another target, seemingly ignoring him. Still, Monoma found that suspicious and decided to keep a close eye on them in case they got caught off guard like Fukidashi and his team were.

"Was that even legal? Midnight said we couldn't trip people," Tetsutetsu asked, feeling a little sorry for his classmates who would be stuck like that for a while, losing precious time

.

"They didn't trip them, so it's fine." Hatsume shrugged as they kept fighting, keeping their heads on the swivel. All the while, the crowds were loving every second of this as the teams battled against one another, headbands changing hands almost as fast as they could be acquired, quirks put on full display as Todoroki's ice combined with Iida's speed meant that they were zipping around, locking foes in place while Midoriya's flames and smoke kept most back, giving them the means to strike.

"Folks, team Monoma is still in this despite the odds, having kept their lead! But they shouldn't get too comfortable as teams Shinso and Todoroki are gaining points like it's nothing to them! But with first and second place locked in their favor, class B is putting on a show!" Present Mic commented while Ryukyu watched, smiling as she saw her student performing so well; even if he wasn't the rider, she could see how people around her noticed the entire team's talents.

At the same time, Inko watched with pride as her son fended off another assault with a smoke screen, giving his teammate the chance to strike back with her vines. None of them hit, but it was enough of a deterrent to their attackers, ensuring that, at least for now, they remained in second solid place. "That's it…" She muttered to herself, Koharu now much more alert as she watched along. Having gotten used to the giant snake, the parents and children close to them were allowed to just be without some sort of leash.

"It's been an exciting Calvary battle, but with 3 minutes left on the clock, let's check out the current rankings!" Present Mic announced before the screens changed to show the leaderboards. When people looked up, they were caught off guard by who made up the top 4. Even Present Mic and Vlad seemed surprised by it. "Wait, that can't be right!"

"Who saw this coming?" The Blood hero noted as he looked at the boards.

Team Rankings

1st Place: Team Monoma – 5380 Points

2nd Place: Team Todoroki – 1670 Points

3rd Place: Team Midoriya – 1,625 Points

4th Place: Team Shouda – 355 Points

5th Place: Team Asui – 315 Points

6th Place: Team Kendo – 0 Points

7th Place: Team Fukidashi – 0 Points

8th Place: Team Bakugo – 0 Points

9th Place: Team Jiro – 0 Points

10th Place: Team Hagakure – 0 Points

11th Place: Team Kodai – 0 Points

12th Place: Team Rin – 0 Points

"Team Monoma's managed to retain first place, but it seems that team Shinso has lost their runner-up spot to Team Todoroki. Other than that, man, the difference in points is staggering. Fourth place isn't even in the same ballpark as the top 3…" Present Mic didn't know what to say, as he was expecting a stronger showing from class B; he was expecting class A to vigorously contest that. Team Bakugo started with the 3rd highest value on the field, and now they were tied for last place?

"It would also seem that team Bakugo has fallen to the bottom of the pack as well, along with team Fukidashi," Vlad added as it seemed that battle had been all but decided, as with so many points focused on so few, they'll be bound to be a mad dash for them just like in the beginning, which will only make the closing 3 minutes all the more chaotic. Bakugo's mind wasn't on the board but on what happened in the moments before it going up, as they had been trying to assault team Monoma again when they got hit with a smoke cloud.

He was used to smoking thanks to his quirk, so the smoke itself didn't slow him down long, only a moment. But that was a moment too long. A vine had zipped into the smoke and latched onto his headband, pulling it right off his head. When he turned to track the source, blasting the worst of the smoke cloud away, he saw his headband joining the rest of their stolen points on the neck of that pyromaniac's sleep-deprived rider.

"We figured that you'd be hyper-focused on Monoma," Shinso smirked at him, the headbands mixed, making it hard to see what any single one was worth. "So assured that you'll be the one to take points you forgot that you can lose them."

"What the?" Mina yelled, having realized who was responsible for them falling so low.

"But I gotta know, are you all so arrogant that you believe that you didn't need a defense?" Shinso asked, tapping his chest right as Bakugo exploded at him.

"What'd you say, you insomniac bed-head!" Bakugo yelled at him, so eager to make him pay for that, to which Shinso smiled as both he and Mina fell under his control, their eyes going blank as they stopped, Bakugo's hands falling limp to his side.

"What the heck, Bakugo? Mina?!" Sero yelled at them, as he and Kirishima had to adjust their hold as Bakugo was acting like a puppet without strings, while Mina was still holding him up, but barely.

"We gotta move!" Kirishima yelled at them, wishing he had a free hand to smack them; lucky for him, Sero was about to do just that.

Shinso saw that and turned to one of his horses. "Midoriya." Midoriya didn't wait as he blasted team Bakugo with thick, hot smoke and steam when Shinso released his control. The two came to right as they were enveloped in another cloud, only this one was worse and hotter as the vapor stuck to them. Blasting away the worst again, Bakugo saw their thieves fleeing, Shinso turning to say one last thing over his shoulder.

"Thanks for the points. It'll make it easier to secure an undeniable victory when we move on Monoma." Shinso replied before his team turned and left them. Bakugo paused at that, though saying he blue-screened would be more accurate. As it was one thing to steal from him, made worse by the fact his rightful place at the top was threatened by the same sleep-deprived-looking fucker that wasn't even in the hero course.

But to just...leave, to focus on that Monoma bastard over him?! That was a slight he at first couldn't comprehend. He didn't get slighted, and he didn't get ignored; that was for the weak, for the extras. Not him, never him.

So when Kirishima looked up at him, worried because he fell silent, he could say with absolute certainty that Bakugo looked close to carrying through his favorite threat. There was murder on the mind, but Bakugo looked like he wanted to blow half a city block to hell just to kill one man kind of angry. "Kirishima…change of plan…" Bakugo stated, sounding even worse than he feared as Bakugo never hid his temper. Still, it seemed like he was feeling it to such a degree that he was even finding it hard to express it without literally exploding.

Instead, he pointed at team Shinso as they retreated as if they had just been marked for elimination. "We're going after them and making them pay for this."

'It seems that Midoriya and they have bought us some time, but with less than 2 minutes left on the clock, they should be able to keep their defenses up and ensure that 4 class A students don't make it into the finals.' Monoma smiled as he saw the prelude to a fierce battle between Midoriya and Bakugo, though he held no delusions in thinking they did it to benefit him.

Looking at the leaderboards that were still up, he wondered how they'd do the selection for the finals as if memory served him right; for the last two festivals, it was the top 6. That meant he was safe, but that still left an unknown, which was 6th, as while others were ranked below, all shared the fact they had nothing. Would they instead limit the cut-off to 4, then? That would mean that more or less the same amount of class B students as their counterparts in class A would progress, with Hatsume and Shinso being the exceptions.

Suddenly, Tetsutetsu stopped, with Monoma returning to the game to see team Todoroki right before them. Meeting their gaze, Monoma smirked as he tapped his headband. "I figured that you'll make your move, sooner or later, scion of Endeavour."

Todoroki's face, which was all business, pitched angrily at that jab. "I'll be taking that now," Todoroki stated, his right side already letting out frost while Tenya and Yaoyorozou were at the ready.

"Less than 2 minutes left, folks! We're in the final stretch of the cavalry battle, but there is still time for these students to pull the rabbit out of the hat! The biggest question is who will wear the 5-thousand headband when it's all said and done!" Present Mic fed into the excitement in the air as the other teams battled it out around the two, with Shouda and Asui being targeted because they were seen as easier makes. In contrast, Shinso battled against an enraged Bakugo, leaving second and first place to square up without interruption.

Standing face to them, Tsunotori was worried about their odds. "Monoma, this is a bad fight. Iida is crazy fast, and Yaoyorozu can pull a cannon out of her boobs." She started, which got Yaoyorozu to scoff out in surprise and offense. Her quirk was far more complicated than that! And she made the effort not to create something as large as a cannon from her chest.

"She's right. Hand over the headband, and we leave. We already know you can copy quirks," Todoroki told him, though Monoma didn't budge, and neither did his team.

"Oh, so you were watching then? Well, I think you know the answer to that request." Monoma replied as others turned to them. Bakugo was battling against team Shinso, and they were the best bets, with so little time to make it to the finals. Todoroki's gaze didn't flinch as he moved his hand to command them forward, but Monoma was quicker on the draw.

"Retreat!" he yelled. As much as he wanted to embarrass Todoroki the same way Midoriya did Bakugo, this wasn't the time or place for it. He needed to focus on winning over style points. Seeing them trying to leave, Yaoyorozu created a Matryoshka doll and threw it at them, confusing them as to why she used such a random thought. Their confusion cost them as it opened, revealing a flashbang inside.

When it went off, they were blinded by it, with Iida and his team, having looked away to avoid the worst of it, rushing in. Hatsume just barely saw them, thanks to all the times she would use a blow torch or welder with the wrong set of goggles to save time. "Incoming, straight ahead!" She cried out, with Monoma cursing at their lack of foresight. Tsunotori, still blind as a bat, fired blindly in that general direction, slowing them down as Todoroki and Yaoyorozu defended via ice and shields. However, Iida still had to dodge because of those newly created ice walls.

Blinking to clear his vision as quickly as he could, Monoma copied Tetsutetsu's quirk, shifting to steel and covering his headband with both hands; this left his stomach open, but with his copied power, when something struck him there, he just grunted as he finally managed to clear his eyes and saw that it was just a large bean bag, the source being Todoroki who held a shotgun in hand.

Pumping it, he took aim and fired ahead, but he got the same result as he ticked, tossing it aside and instead grabbing onto the pole Yaoyorozu had just created and given him. Covering it with frost, he slammed it into the ground, sending a wave of ankle-high ice around them. Thanks to Hatsume and Tsunotori, along with their jetpack, team Monoma managed to avoid it, but they saw that several other teams weren't as lucky.

"He's keeping the rest back," Monoma noted.

"But also keeping us boxed in like rats," Tsunotori added to that, as it might have just been less than a couple minutes left, but it wouldn't be easy to fend off Todoroki, who was only pushing the assault.

And that's that. There was more planned, as I got around another 1000 words left, but as I typed it out, I saw it wouldn't have left room for an excellent place to stop. Here, it seems like a suitable compromise.

With my OG work, a new chapter will be up by Saturday, maybe 2. And if you're reading this on , sorry, bro. You gotta head over to AO3 if you want to read it; it should be like a search away if you just access my stuff there; they're all under the same name.

Next chapter should be out on July 23rd.
