Author Notes:

Hello my fellow undead. I really hope you're enjoying the first draft of My Angel, because I'm having so much fun writing it! I just wanted to say really quick, that I appreciate everyone reading the story - I know I picked a really niche thing to write about, and it's probably never blow up like I'd want it to (mostly in an effort to get people to fall in love with Beau and Edyth as hard as I did) but I'm super glad that your enjoying it! I seriously appreciate that you all love the story enough to stick with it. Like seriously.

But if I could ask a favor - you can drop a follow or a fav, it would really help me out or even better, you can check out my profile to see more of my work there. It would really make my day!

Thanks again lovelies. Enjoy the chapter.

(P.S. I'm really wanting to start another story - something Harry Potter I think. I'm thinking it'll be about Harry getting the ability to manipulate time, and I'd want the pairing to be him with a Slytherin girl. Thoughts?)

Reviews:

Kuro Furasshu: Oh absolutely not. There's gonna be struggles and healing that needs to happen for Beau and the Cullens to be okay again. Mostly on Beau's part, because, as he sees it, they left him and that was their choice (which they were completely free to make) - they simply didn't want him.

"This is a really bad idea," I muttered, getting into the truck. I slid across into the passenger side, and Jules followed me in. I handed her the keys, and leaned back, grimacing at the thought of talking to a pack full of werewolves who want nothing more than to tear me apart.

"Don't worry about it Beau, this'll be easy." She said weakly, like she was trying to convince herself as she nodded her head, slamming the door shut. "All we have to do is…" She said trailing off.

I gave her a tiny stare of disbelief.

"Not a single idea. Wow. Okay, what did you say to make them back off the first time? Don't worry this one doesn't have any fangs?" I asked sarcastically, making her laugh a little. Though there was a hint of stress in both our voices.

"Something like that." She whispered. " I basically told them that you were innocent. That you were one of the… you know." She said even quieter. I knew exactly who she was talking about. "Well, there… gone… and since you changed after - they probably didn't tell you about the treaty, so it wasn't fair to kill you."

"And Sam agreed?"

"Not really." She said, cocking her head to the side as she cringed a little. "I only got them to back off long enough to talk about it. Sam really doesn't want the treaty broken, even if she thinks you technically broke it first." She said with a groan, obviously thinking about the hoops she had to jump through to make that work. She started the truck up, pulling out of the place, and quickly getting onto the road.

"I'm not a part of that treaty Jules… I'm not one of them." I mutter, trying to ignore the ache in my chest.

I felt my angel kiss my kiss cheek, and her head resting on my shoulder.

I've noticed that she's been appearing more ever since I became a part of her world. She didn't come only when I was in danger, and not even solely when I'm at risk of hurting someone else. She came when I needed her. It felt good, having her like this. Even if I know… even if it might mean that I'm going insane.

We sat in silence for a few minutes, just driving. Jules told me that Sam wanted to meet over at one of the beaches, and we've got about a ten minute drive till we got there.

"Laurens dead," I said suddenly, breaking the comfortable silence. "But murders are still going on. Which means there's another vampire out there… or a bear? Don't tell me it's actually just been wild animals." Mostly joking, knowing for a fact that the other vampire out there is hunting me specifically.

"Like I said Beau, we've only got one prey, and that's you leeches - no offense," She said with a shrug, clearly not caring if it was offensive. "But yeah, this isn't over. Not by a long shot."

Her brow furrowed with frustration, and her eyes seemed to darken. "There were two of them. We got the female - Lauren, or whatever you said her name was - but there was another. We really hoped her mate would come straight at us, looking for a fight. In all the legends, if there's one way to tick off one of their kind, it's by killing the mate. But he just kept on running, coming back in, then slipping away. He acts like he's testing our defenses - like there's something he really wants on our land, and he's trying to get close enough to get it. We just don't have a clue as to what that is."

I tensed up through her whole explanation. I thought… yeah - I guessed right. Victor was here, killing hikers in the woods. He was here for me.

I couldn't really think. I don't have a plan. What if Charlie got hurt? What if I wasn't strong enough to keep him safe? What if Jules got hurt?

Suddenly, I heard the scrunching sound of metal. I looked down and I saw my hand gripping the door handle just a bit too tight. "Darn it." I breathed. There's another thing I'm gonna have to pay for, because there's not a chance I'm gonna be able to fix it myself.

It's okay Beau. Think. You can keep them safe… if you can convince them, you have a whole pack of wolves to help. My angel whispered suddenly, hugging me. Her arms are tight around my waist.

"Hey," Jules finally said, looking a little freaked out at the display of strength. "Are you ok? What's wrong?"

I turned to look at her as she turned back to the road. I had a stony look on my face. "Victor." I said simply.

Jules stared at me for a second. There was a gleam in her eye. "Victor," She repeated with a little excitement. "Is that his name? You know him, too? Do you have any idea what he's after?"

I sunk down into my seat, frustratedly putting my hands in my pockets. "Yeah," I said heavily. "You could say I know him a little." I drew in a deep breath, which I regret pretty fast. Wet dog smell. "Fact is, Jules, Lauren wasn't his mate. They were just friends that ran in the same coven for a while. He had someone else."

I gave a little sigh, looking out the windshield. "His mate has been dead for a while… and what he's after is me."

The car swerved a little bit. Quickly she corrected it, and turned to me fully.

"How do you know that?" She said slowly. "This is very important Beau. What do you know?"

"Do you remember last spring?" I asked. "When I was in the hospital?"

I could see her in the corner of my eye nodding, uncertain.

"I didn't fall down the stairs," I continued. "It was a vampire who did that to me. Joss. She was a tracker, who lived for the thrill of the hunt. She was Victor's mate - and… and she died." I said, my chest hurting as I think of her name.

"Why does that involve you? So what if the Cul-" she stopped herself fast, knowing how much I didn't wanna hear it. "Why doesn't he go and bug them?" She asked quickly.

I was quiet for a second. Finally, I said, "Edyth…" my whole body tensed up. A ringing started up in my ears, but I forced the rest of my words out. "She killed him."

Jules looked at me hard, concern written in her eyes, but I guess she thought the best thing to do would be to ignore it. She started nodding, slowly, letting the pieces fall together in her mind. "Now he wants to kill you as revenge."

I nodded, focusing hard on the passing trees. "That's what Lauren told me."

I suddenly let out a hash, bitter laugh that made Jules jump in her seat. "The ironic thing is that he doesn't know - he doesn't know I don't make much of a revenge, because I got dumped."

She straightened up a little, a frown on her lips as she kept thinking. Trying to work me out. "Is that the reason? Is that why they left?"

I didn't say anything for a second. The pain felt like fire running through my whole body. "I was just a boring, ordinary human… and I wouldn't be interesting as one of them," I said in a low voice. "Of course I could never be her real… Of course not."

I could hear her growling in the back of her throat. "Is that what she told you?"

I shook my head with a sigh. "Please Jules - I'd rather not talk about this," I mumbled pathetically.

"I'm asking you if that - if she told you you're too boring and ordinary for her…" I could see her vibrating a little.

I gave her a pleading look, my brow tensing. Then my eyes fell back to the trees. "Please, Jules. I can't talk about this. It's not… not what you think." I whispered. "It's not her fault." I whispered so quietly that I don't think she heard me.

Jules swore under her breath, and with a growl said. "Fine! But Beau," she turned completely in her seat, and looked me dead in the eye. "You are not boring, you are definitely not ordinary," she continued, gesturing with a quick hand, "and yeah, even if you are a disgusting leech… you're my disgusting leech and you are very, very interesting!"

She turned back to the road with a huff, shaking her head as she glared out the windshield. "What kinda leech automatically decides they don't eat humans?" She mostly questioned herself.

I could still feel the firey pain, the stabbing knives and everything, all over me… but I had a very small smile on my face.

"Thanks Jules," I said quietly. She gave me one quick nod, knowing that I seriously dont wanna keep talking about this. Even if she's being a good friend.

We sat in silence for another minute. I knew we were almost there. Suddenly, she quickly asked, "Is it hard for you? Not killing people?"

I turned and shrugged, my smile still there as I said. "Not really… I thought it was gonna be a lot worse. I mean, I constantly feel thirsty, but like… I know I don't need to give into it… you know?" I asked, hoping she got what I meant.

"Yeah… I think." She said with a shiver. Probably creeped out that I even have the urge in the first place.

"Okay, never mind that. We should focus up. This stuff you know, is exactly what we needed to have. Hopefully this will make the whole thing easier."

"Right, I have a ton of insider info that you guys could use," I say fast, nodding along with a grin. "I can be your vampire expert. You guys ever need to know something, I'm your guy."

She gave my shoulder a shove with her own smile. "Knock it off, you know what I mean."

We were only about a minute away when I saw Jules tense up a bit again. "By the way… they kinda… didn't want me to bring you." She muttered. I slowly turned to look at her wide eyed.

"The vampire hunting werewolves told you that they didn't want me to come… and you're bringing me anyway?" I asked, just to make sure I heard right.

"They're not gonna be happy to see me." I said after a second, slowly looking back at the road. We were seconds away.

"Definitely." She grinned, shoving my shoulder again. "Don't worry though, Sam's fair… she's… I really admire her." She said seriously.

I glanced at her, and tried to hide my incredulity. "You do? Why?"

Jules shook her head. "This has been tough on all of us. When I transformed for the first time… let's just say, I was a bit freaked out. No, if I'd still been human, I would have been sobbing and screaming and trying to claw my eyes out all at once. It was - " Jules was half grinning, but the smile faded, and there was not a trace of humor in her face. Her voice dropped. "... the most horrible thing I've ever experienced in my life."

I paused. Thinking about what that's like. "Yeah… I get it." I say softly, flexing my hand a little. She looked over at me fast, glaring… but quickly nodded her head, looking back out the windshield.

She raised her hand off the wheel, looking at her palm. "It hurts. Nothing made sense - my body wasn't my own. I didn't know what was happening. But Sam - Sam and all the others helped me through it. Sam explained what was going on, and even as bad as it was, having someone there to help, to guide me through, was huge. But of all of us that have changed this way, Sam was the first. She had to go through everything we all went through completely alone. No one there to help explain or pull her through."

I let a breath out through my nose. It had almost been comforting to think of Sam as the bad guy up until now, the one responsible for standing in between Jules and I, but hearing the full story, it was hard not to feel bad. It was amazing to think the person Sam had become after all that.

We finally pulled up to the beach, parking at the first sign of sand. "Think they'll just go and kill me as soon as they see me?"

Jules grinned a little, but her worry came back a bit. "Probably not." She whispered, hopping out of the truck, and shutting the door.

I hop out after her, frowning at that very positive response. "Well I don't know about you, but I'm thinking maybe it might be better if we didn't try to set off an entire pack of angry werewolves - more than I'm going too."

"They'll settle down once they realize that this is the chance we've been waiting for… hopefully. What you know will make a huge difference, trust me. Okay, so you're a vamp and you're meant to be our mortal enemy - but really, that just means you have the kind of information we could really use. You're like a deep undercover double agent, living among the enemy for years. You know the kinds of things we could never hope to uncover ourselves."

This made me pause. If I was hearing right, Jules was calling me something akin to a spy. Even if I had been collecting that kind of information back then, which I hadn't, I didn't care for this way of looking at things. It made me feel like some kind of traitor.

However, I did want to stop Victor, preferably before he could find me, or more importantly, before he could get to Charlie. My good vampires had left, and so the pack was really the only hope of taking down Victor for sure. I might be able to do it, but I had no clue if I was doing this whole vampire thing right. I didn't know how to fight.

We started walking down the beach in silence, both of us tense and worried that this isn't going to work. Jules said that the pack was waiting on the other end, next to the cliffs.

"Things still aren't okay for you, are they?" Jules asked at last.

I stared straight ahead, not responding at first. Then slowly, I nodded.

"I know you probably don't wanna hear this - and maybe right now's not the best time," Jules said quietly, almost gently, "but I can't help but think you're better off…. besides … you know, being one of them."

I didn't say anything.

Jules continued, "Not just because she's an evil blood sucker, but because… I feel like there must be something wrong with her. To do what she did. To you." She paused, then said with some concern, "Beau?"

I realized that without meaning to, I'd raised a hand to my chest, and I was kind bending over with my shoulders hunched, like I was a human, having a heart attack.

Your ok Beau, your ok, I'm here, my angel breathed, wrapping her arms around me tight. She's in the corner of my eye again, I can feel her breath on my skin, and her hair lightly grazing my cheek.

Slowly, I forced myself to straighten up, and I lowered my hand off my chest. "Sorry," I muttered. "Please… I can't… I can't talk about this. Okay?"

"Sure," she said, looking away. "Sorry."

I sighed deeply, rubbing the back of my head. "S'okay," I mumbled. If things were different, it might have been nice to finally have someone to talk about all of this. It wasn't Jules fault I was such a wreck.

I could see her tense up next to me. "There they are," she said, walking quicker. I probably missed them due to my episode.

"Hey," I said, feeling suddenly very aware that my immortality could be cut short pretty quick as I imagined giant, monstrous wolves ripping me limb from limb. "Maybe I should go back and wait in the car. You know, in case they're not in a jokey mood."

She grinned nervously. "If it makes you feel better, I promise I won't let anything happen to you."

I frowned. "For some reason, I feel like we both just lost a whole lot of points for that."

Jules nodded seriously. "Definitely - come on." She said, I put my hands in my pockets and followed, keeping a foot behind her. I knew Charlie would kill me if he knew I was letting a girl go out first into a potentially dangerous situation, but the way I figured it, Jules probably wouldn't be in much actual danger from her own pack. I definitely was.

I spotted them instantly as we were walking. I thought I'd see four big wolves coming to charge at me, but I relaxed just a little as I laid eyes on a small group of girls.

Samantha and the three other members of the pack were all dressed as Jules was dressed, in spandex shorts and sleeveless shirts that clung tightly to their lanky frames. Although all of them were different builds and heights, there was an odd sense of oneness about them. They all had the same red-brown skin, the same black hair cropped short. They even seemed to move with eerie synchronization. They reminded me of a military unit, and if they'd been dressed in combat fatigues I wouldn't have questioned for a second, in spite of how incredibly young some of them looked. Sam, of course, looked the most military of all of them, her back rigidly straight, her hair chopped in a close crew cut.

The group, as one, eyed Jules with angry cautiousness. Then they saw me, kinda hiding behind her.

Several, loud hisses of outrage rose from the group, and Samantha fixed Jules with her cool dark eyes. They all seemed ready to shift right there and then, but Samantha waved them back slightly.

"Explain yourself, Julie," she said sharply, her voice reverberating even as a human. She was intimidating to say the least, and the worst part was that her eyes never left me. She was eyeing me like I was a chew toy.

Before Jules could answer, one of the other girls shouldered past Sam to the front. This one had a slightly more powerful build than the others, and though she was slender at the waist, she had a vaguely judo physique. Her black hair was slicked up in spikes, and though she had the kind of face that looked like it would be pretty when she was smiling, at the moment it had the faintest resemblance to that of a bulldog.

"What is wrong with you! You couldn't just stick to the rules for once, could you! Couldn't follow one order!" She accused, shaking a fist as if she'd have liked to plant it in Jules face. "The rest of us are out there risking our necks to save those people, fighting for the tribe - and what are you doing? All you care about is this disgusting romantic fantasy - a disgusting fantasy with a leech!"

"I brought him here so he can speak for himself… and he can help us," Jules said in a low voice, with forced calm.

The girl's lip curled into a snarl. "Oh yeah, that's just what we need. Bring a disgusting blood sucker to come take care of the problem, since obviously we can't handle it ourselves. That'll solve everything!" She said getting louder with each word. Her eyes, like the rest of them, were looking at me with murderous intent. I wanted to just run, but they'd probably chase me down.

I saw Jules hands tighten into fists at her sides. "You - you better take that back," she said in a low voice. I quickly put a hand on her shoulder, which might have been the wrong move, as all the girls flinched forward. Jules glared at all of them though, and took a few deep breaths - slowly, I let my hand off of her, they all eased back then, except for the one at the front.

The other girl gritted her teeth, and a shudder seemed to ripple down her spine.

"That's enough, Paula," Samantha said sharply. "Control it."

Paula's head was bent, her eyes shut. She breathed deeply in and out, and shook her head, as though trying to shake something off.

"I get it, but sheesh," muttered one girl, the one that had her arms crossed with a heavy side-eyed scowl at me. "Get a grip, girl."

If anything, this only seemed to set Paula off again, and she spun her head to glare. "You get a grip Jaybird. I'm just telling Jules like it is. We're out there looking day and night for that thing!" She points an accusing finger at me. "One of his kind that's hunting people down, and all she can think about is her freaking leech boyfriend."

She turned her head back to look at me, and her nostrils flared, lips curled back from her teeth. She said in a low, dangerous voice, "Slimy, disgusting blood sucker… you don't deserve to live." Her back bent, she took a step forward, like a predator about to spring.

Jules stepped sideways, standing directly in Paula's path, blocking me from view.

That was the last straw.

Paula let out a roar of rage, and she cried, "SEE! That's where her loyalties lie! With a leech!" A shudder ran down the length of her body, more violent this time, and a coarse growl that sounded nothing like her voice escaped her mouth.

"Paula!" Sam cried warningly, but it was too late.

Paula's entire body was vibrating, and she seemed to collapse forward. As she did so, I watched in an instant as her body exploded outward. Dark silver fur erupted from her skin all over her body, which was suddenly the size of a creature that would have made a grizzly bear cower.

It happened so quickly that I barely had time to register what was happening. One moment a furious girl stood there, the next there was a dark wolf. The silver muzzle drew back to reveal rows of sharp teeth, and a second deep growl tore through the air, making my chest vibrate.

I had seen plenty of terrifying things in my time, a lot of terrifying creatures. This had to rank towards the top though. When the enraged eyes turned on me, I tensed up. As subtle as I can, I shifted my feet, getting ready to react to whatever she's gonna throw at me.

Don't Beau! Just run! My angel's hands tugged at me, urging me to go.

I had been so focused on the wolf, that it took me a second to realize that Jules was no longer standing in front of me. I was immediately glad about that - the last thing I wanted was for Jules to be in the way when that thing came barreling at me. Then my eyes flickered and I saw Jules in a lineman's sprint across the sand, straight for the beast.

"Jules!" I shouted, my eyes wide, I took a step forward. "Don't!" I yelled with a little hysteria.

Too late. I watched, a shiver went down Jules' spine. In mid-stride, she coiled the muscle of one leg and launched herself into the air. I had thought Paula's change was fast, but it was nothing compared to Jules - just like last time, I watched in shock as her slender, lanky form exploded outward in a mass of russet fur, and when her feet hit the ground again, there were four of them, padded, and she was tearing toward the massive silver beast, teeth showing in a terrible snarl.

I'd seen animals fight before on the discovery channel, and when I'd gone hunting the one time. Big cats fighting over mates and food, bears fending off against other predators. But seeing something like that had not prepared me for what this was like - especially when the animals were bigger than any predator alive on the planet, and one of the fighters was my best friend.

Their teeth flashed at each other's throats, the great sound of the snarls echoing like thunder off the cliffs and trees behind them.

"Jules!" I shouted again, not sure what to do. I took a little step forward, holding my hands out like I could just reach over and grab her away from the danger. I noticed quickly as well that Jule's white shoes were torn up and scattered along the sand. I wondered what happened to the rest of her clothes.

I shook my head fast, my eyes flying back to the fight, and again, I took another tentative step forward.

"Don't move," a harsh, commanding voice said from the cliffside

My eyes flickered to Sam standing there, her arms folded, her cool expression unusually severe. "Stay. Back," She ordered firmly.

As much as I wanted to ignore the order… I needed the pack to help me fight Victor. So, I didn't move, just stood there like an idiot. If I think for a second though that Jules is gonna get hurt, I'm jumping in. I don't care what any of these mongrels say.

My eyes went back to the fight, and I was a little surprised to see the red wolf was gaining the upper hand. Jules rammed her shoulder into the silver wolf repeatedly, forcing her back off the sand and towards the woods.

Samantha gave an annoyed sigh, "I will meet you at Elliot's. Jay call him, and tell him to not come home for a few hours." She said sharply to the other girls and, kicking off her shoes, took off into the woods after the two fighting wolves. The sound of the snarling and snapping was very slowly starting to fade as Jules pushed Paula deeper into the trees.

The two remaining girls had been watching the fight with fascinated stares, and they didn't move until the sound of the fighting abruptly cut off.

One of the girls gave a short, soft laugh, then looked over at me. The glare she had earlier eased up to almost nothing, and then she was walking over to me. Both of us scrunched our noses at the smell of the other, but I gave her a pleasant smile.

"Hi there Beau," She said softly, giving a little wave, "I don't suppose you remember me?" She asked, like she was giving me a question to prove I was still me.

She was tall, and of what I thought was a little slighter build than the others. "Emma?" I guessed. "I mean, Em?"

Her face lit up brightly. "You do remember." It was like she'd proven a theory, or like she'd guessed right on a trivia question. Either way, it seemed like she was happy, or at the very least, she didn't seem to immediately hate me.

Her eyes flickered along the beach, and she spotted the remains of one of Jule's shoes. She approached and picked it up, not caring at all as she turned her back to me. "Well, Bonnies not going to be happy about this," Em's gaze flickered over to the other girl, who had got a phone out of a bag and was dialing. "She said this was the last pair she was getting, didn't she, Jay? Looks like Jules will be going barefoot from now on."

"This one looks okay," said Jay, picking up another shoe by its laces. The phone started to ring as she brought it up to her ear. "Paula's though, they're ribbons." She rolled her eyes. "I keep asking her why she even bothers wearing shoes. I can't tell if this anger management thing she has going on is a wolf thing or a Paula thing. I mean the rest of us have our moments, but we don't flip out three days out of four."

Emma shrugged, smiling. "Paula is… excitable."

"Crazy is what she is," Jay muttered as she walked over to where Sam's shoes were and grabbed them, holding them with two fingers in the heels. "Although in this case, you can't really blame her." She glaring at me with distrust and disgust.

"You okay Beau?" Em asked, leaning away from me, but getting a good look at my face. She was taking in my pale, sharp features, and getting used to the new me. "I'm guessing something like that isn't… uh… great for a vamp…" She tried to speak delicately. Jay finally got someone on the line, and she was explaining that they need to avoid their house for a bit.

"Intimidating?" Jay suggested with a grin, pausing her conversation on the phone. "Insanely scary?"

Emma nodded. "Yeah, that."

They studied me again. My eyes were a bit wide, and I was sure I looked stressed, but it wasn't because I was scared of getting hurt. I was worried that thing could hurt Jules.

"You're not seriously that scared are you? It was just Paula?" Jay asked, supreme disgust on her face as she perceived my cowardice… and just a little glee. "I thought leeches were meant to be fearless?" She asked with a cruel laugh. She'd already finished giving the message on the phone, and put it back in the bag.

I shook my head with a sigh, ignoring her taunting. "I've fought scarier things… I'm just worried about Jules."

Jay snorted, and even Emma smiled slightly.

"I know we can get all big and mean Beau," Emma said. "But I wouldn't worry about her. We're tougher than we look."

"Yeah, if we had an anxiety attack about someone getting hurt every time Paula flew off the handle like that, our lives would probably be at least ten years shorter by now."

I wasn't entirely convinced. I couldn't seem to force the picture of the great fighting wolves from my mind, the feeling of their deep growls, their enormous teeth snapping with the sound of cracking whips. However, if Emma and Jay weren't concerned, I knew I probably shouldn't be either.

I shook my head, trying to shake the image of her getting hurt out of my mind.

Emma continued reassuringly, "Anyway, you don't have to worry about Jules. She's a natural fighter. You saw the way she phased in midair as she went for Paula - even Sam couldn't have done that."

Jay scoffed. "Paula's been doing this a lot longer than Jules has. She has more experience. She'll get a bite in, and probably more than that."

"You're always free to your own opinion," said Emma. She smiled secretly at me and leaned closer, adding in a sing-song undertone. "Even if she's totally wrong."

"I heard that," Jay grumbled.

I watched Emma out of the corner of my eye. I couldn't help but think she seemed - different than I remembered. She'd always come off as a bit shy before, but now she seemed more comfortable, more relaxed. Maybe it was just being around her - pack?

That doesn't answer why she seems so comfortable around me. I wanted to question it, but I also really didn't want to point out something that she might not realize yet - like that I had a constant urge to kill people. This was all really… delicate, and I'd prefer to not make more enemies than I needed.

Trying to distract myself from that thought, I said, "Um, so. Where are we going again?" I asked, looking between the two of them. Both of them perked up, like they forgot they had somewhere to be. Quickly they started walking down the beach, and I started following.

"Sam told us to meet her at Elliots's house," Emma answered. "You don't mind right?"

I shook my head. "Course not… but who's Elliot?"

Emma grinned a little. "Sam's boyfriend."

"Oh… um… is Sam sure she wants me around then?" I asked softly. I had never figured Sam was the type to have a boyfriend.

"None of us want you around." Jay said fast. Emma rolled her eyes.

"Don't worry about it, Jay called ahead, and got him out of the house. He likes heading into Forks to shop, so we've got plenty of time." Emma said.

"Yeah, if Sam ever caught you looking at him, you'd be dead." Jay laughed as we walked through the forest, finally heading to the meeting that would determine whether I lived or died. Again.
