Why would I choose Lost Galaxy for my crossover I hear no one asking. Honestly my first thought wasn't Lost Galaxy, but Dino Thunder. But that being a legacy season I'd of course have to explain the mythological world after a decade plus of Rangers and aliens.
Not wanting to deal with that headache I went back to Mighty Morphin and started working my way forward. Eliminating the different seasons for various reasons until I hit Lost Galaxy and decided, that one. For better or worse here we are.
3rd POV
"Leo watch out!" Shouted Kendrix.
Leo dove to the ground narrowly avoiding a laser blast from a nearby Stingwinger.
Kai brought his sword up in a guard blocking another stingwinger's scythe hands. "There's no end to these guys." He said as he cut down the attacking bug.
Maya leapt over one stingwinger, and tackling another to the ground. Jumping to her feet she swung her saber at another one. "If I never see another bug again after this it will be too soon." She declared even as she blocked another stingwinger's scythe hands.
"No arguments from me on that." Said Damon.
Valdez's voice came through the ear pieces. "Guys you're right by the astrocycles." He said. "Try and make it back to them. Otherwise they're just gonna keep trying to bury you with numbers.
"You think!?" Shouted Kai jumping over another stingwinger to avoid two others rushing at him.
"I'm speaking from experience here again." Valdez retorted. "We still don't know the limits of you guy's powers. But I have to assume that they'll give out sooner or later so I'm calling for a tactical retreat.
"That's easier said than done." Damon grunted, blade locked with another bug.
Kendrix hastily slashed another stingwinger. Before for managing to briefly catch a glimpse of where they'd left the bikes. Just a few yards outside of the swarm of bugs they were in the middle of.
Leo internally sighed. "Ok everyone, guess we're just going to have to push through." He said and raised his saber, the team taking that as their signal to go on the offensive.
The Scorpion Stinger
Percy POV
Walking back into Scorpius' chamber with Trakeena, I noticed a monster crouched over kneeling in front of Scorpius.
The monster seemed familiar but I couldn't place him. I'd probably just scene him in passing. Though you'd think I'd remember a bright red beetle with blue spikes on his head and arms, along with a cartoonishly large mouth.
"Where's Furio?!" Scorpius demanded as soon he noticed us.
Before I could say anything Trakeena spoke up. "After his plan to get the Lights of Orion failed he ran off to who knows where."
"What!?" Yelled Scorpius predictably outraged. "He endangers my daughter's life and then flees!"
I hadn't gotten a chance to ask about the details of everything that had just happened. But I was certain that Trakeena had been the one calling the shots down there. Though I wasn't about to say anything. I'd long since learned how futile and dangerous it was to try and convince Scorpius of that.
"I've grown tired of this foolishness." He declared. "Ruptor here will eliminate the Rangers once and for all."
The monster in question cackled and licked his lips with his oversized tongue.
"Perseus you will find my cowardly general and drag him before me. Dead or alive." Scorpius ordered.
I just solemnly nodded, I'd known that he wouldn't let Furio be. If anything I was honestly surprised that he'd added the alive part to that order.
Though I wasn't exactly enthusiastic about being the one to bring him back kicking and screaming.
3rd POV
Back on the surface the Rangers continued trying to fight their way through the stingwingers.
"There's only a few left!" Yelled Maya as the remaining bugs landed and grouped together.
"Not for much longer." Said Leo raising his Quasar saber as red ran up the blade.
Bringing the sword down in a familiar and brilliant finish, Leo unleashed a wave of fire at the swarm.
Just before the flames could reach the stingwingers, a bolt of green energy struck the ground, revealing a pair of silhouettes an instant before the flames washed over them.
"Wait, did you see that?" Asked Kendrix referring to the energy bolt.
"Never mind that look!" Shouted Kai pointing at the blaze.
Before anybody could answer that everyone looked and saw pair of shadowy silhouettes appear as the flames started to die down.
"If that's the best they can do, then this won't take long." A voice cackled as the flames cleared revealing a familiar figure in silvery armor and an insectiod carrying an oversized knife and fork. Meeting the gaze of the rangers he dragged his oversized tongue over his lips, slobbering with saliva.
"Oh man, where'd they find this freak." Asked Damon.
"I have no idea." Valdez's voice drawled into the earpieces. "But I doubt I'd want to make friends with it."
"Lunch!" The aforementioned freak shouted causing the remaining stingwingers to take flight. Before bending at the knees and making a flying leap towards the rangers.
Quickly bringing her saber up in a desperate attempt to guard, Kendrix caught the monster's giant fork. Her blade sliding in between the middle prongs with an audible clink.
Kendrix grimaced beneath her helmet as she heard the sound of metal grinding on metal as the fork's points pressed closer to her.
"Guys a little help!" She shouted.
"Trying to, but that's easier said than done!" Maya shouted trying to deflect attacks from the stingwingers.
"Keep your hands of her!" Leo shouted mid leap bringing his sword down.
Grunting in annoyance Ruptor raised his oversized butter knife up blocking Leo's strike with a resounding clang.
"I have a job to do." The alien said his voice managing to be both deep and squeaky. "Eliminate you."
"Yeah well don't expect us to just roll over." Said Kendrix voice raised as she pushed her sword against the fork.
"Good it's more fun that way!" Ruptor said smugly.
"We'll see about that creep." Countered Leo.
The sound of an explosion came from behind them shortly followed by a shout of. "Need a hand!"
Bright green energy blasts flew from Damon's transblaster striking Ruptor releasing a flurry of sparks and sending him tumbling.
"Woah oh ow!" The alien cried rolling on the ground before rapidly jumping back to his feet. "You're toast!" He squealed pointing his fork at the Rangers.
"Man two monsters in one day. We can't catch a break can we?" Wondered Damon.
"Nope." Valdez said flatly, speaking from experience.
"Iyayayaya!" The alien screamed charging straight towards the Rangers.
Maya and Kai stepped forward and raised up their saber's defensively. Metal collided with a resounding clang as Ruptor bounded into them.
"Grrrr!" The alien growled only the faint squeaks and groans of metal telling how hard he was pushing his weapon's against their saber's.
"How do you like this!" Yelled Leo as he leapt through the air. His sword already coming down in a chopping motion.
Reacting instantly Ruptor broke away from Maya and Kai. Jumping back Ruptor quickly spun around presenting his back to the Rangers.
"What?!" Shouted Leo as his saber bounced off the monster's armored carapace. The sword still reverberating in his hand as his feet touched solid ground.
Turning back to look at the Rangers again. "Didn't even feel it." Ruptor said cackling and dragging his oversized tongue across his lips again, drops of saliva splattering around him.
"Ugh. This guy is a piece of work." Said Damon shaking his head even as he pointed his saber at the monster in question.
"I don't think he's the only one." Said Kendrix gritting her teeth and looking around rapidly before her gaze landed back firmly on the alien. "Where's the other guy?" She asked body tensing even further. "I know I saw him arrive with you."
"Hmm?" Ruptor hummed and grimaced, glancing over briefly to where he'd arrived "Oh, that one." He said and grit his teeth briefly before continuing. "He must have gone after Furio already. Would've been nice for him to stick around, but." He licked his lips. "More for me." He said pointing his fork at them again.
The Rangers tensed pointing their weapons at him reply.
Ruptor took a slow and cautious step forward. Stopping he turned his head to look at something behind him. The cartoonish grin on his face widening even further.
"I don't know what this guy is planning but I say we put a stop to it." Said Leo pulling out his Transdagger.
"Right!" The others agreed, nodding and pulling out their Transdaggers.
Eyes widening slightly in alarm as he saw the daggers placed in a star formation. Ruptor reflexively spun on his heel presenting his armored back towards the Rangers.
An orb of golden energy rushed towards the alien, his cutlery themed weapons clattered to the ground as the attack hit him. Releasing an intense explosion upon impact. The shock waves strong enough that the surrounding hills vibrated slightly.
"Hah, bet he felt the that one." Said Leo.
"Whoa! Ah! Oh!" Shouted Ruptor as the blast sent flying through the air limbs flailing.
"Huh?!" Questioned Kai incredulously, seeing the large alien in the air.
Rapidly scrambling to his feet, Ruptor looked back at the Rangers and shouted. "Not even a scratch." With that he turned to the nearby Astrocycles a wicked gleam in his eyes.
"Wait." Said Kendrix with a flash of insight into what the alien was planning to do."Is he about to do what I think he is?"
"Why don't I like the sound of that?" Asked Valdez.
Bending down Ruptor grabbed onto the green bike with both hands and lifted it up with faint groan of metal.
"Tell me that wasn't what I think it was!" Said Valdez.
Cackling, Ruptor hurled the condor themed bike at the Rangers.
"Scatter!" Shouted Leo all the Rangers diving out of the way.
The bike hit the ground with a thunderous crash. The sounds of metal crumpling and tearing echoing across the clearing.
"My bike!" Shouted Damon.
"Not the bikes!" Cried Valdez jumping out of his chair back at the Garage.
Bounding back towards the Rangers Ruptor knelt down to pick up his silverware weapons. "What's the matter Rangers? Ruptor Taunted. "Am I too tough for ya?!"
"In your dreams creep!" Shouted Kai leaping through the air and bringing his saber down on Ruptor's back. The blade predictably bouncing off his carapace.
"Huh?!" The alien grunted.
While still in midair Kai's hand grabbed onto the ridge of Ruptors shell. Then in a stunning display of strength and dexterity. Kai Swung himself around onto the monsters back. Reaching around he placed the edge of his saber against the alien's neck, and pulled hard. The blade pressed against his neck but didn't break the skin.
"Get him Kai!" Leo shouted pumping his fist as the others regrouped around him.
"Get off me!" Ruptor shouted, flailing his weapons, trying to reach the blue ranger and knock him off his back.
"We have to help him." Said Kendrix.
"How? If we're not careful we might hurt Kai." Said Damon.
"Any ideas Valdez?" Leo asked his earpiece.
"Beyond what I've already said." Valdez answered. "Anything besides whatever's going on now."
"Buzz off!" Shouted Ruptor as he tossed his silverware aside raising his hands towards the Rangers. Red and blue bolts of energy shot from his hands at the Rangers. Sending the Rangers flying on impact.
"Guys!" Kai shouted in alarm trying to keep his grip as the monster bucked wildly.
Groaning Leo raised his head feeling like he'd touched a live electrical wire. I don't even want to imagine what that would've been like without the suits. He thought hearing the others groaning trying to get up.
Ruptor threw his head back then violently threw his body weight forward. Throwing Kai from his back who hit the ground with an audible thud.
"Ugh!" He groaned.
"You're the first course!" The monster yelled. Lunging forward at Kai, arms outstretched.
"Kai!" Leo shouted trying to get back to his feet along with the others.
Grabbing Kai by the leg, Ruptor pulled the Ranger towards him.
"Let go!" Kai yelled as he kicked and thrashed.
"Hold still." Ruptor growled, giving the ranger's leg a fierce yank.
"Ah!" Kai shouted as the monster's open mouth grew closer to his leg.
"Lunch." Ruptor cackled. His head lurched forward and his mouth snapped shut with a sickening crack of bone.
"Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!"
Percy POV
Moving at a brisk jog I made my way back towards where I'd found Trakeena earlier, hoping to pick up Furio's trail.
I could've been there already but I wasn't exactly eager for my confrontation with Furio.
It wasn't like I could just walk up to him and say. "Hey come back, it won't be so bad. Our boss just wants me to bring you back to him, so that he can personally flay you alive."
I stopped and shuddered, looking down at the ground at that. I'd been on the receiving end of that treatment more than once.
Looking back over my shoulder, I grimaced and tried not to think about what might be happening with the Rangers right now.
Leaving a giant Mutantrum behind as a distraction was one thing especially since the Rangers had that Megazord. But a monster that Scorpius had handpicked or tentacle picked rather, to kill them. That was a whole other story.
Not for the first time I wondered at my situation. I had more power now than most demigods including myself at one point would even thought possible. Yet for all I could do in a fight, I was still powerless to change things and keep people from getting hurt. If anything these days I was often the cause.
"Argh!" I screamed punching the ground. The force of the blow leaving a crater in the ground the size of a Prius.
It wasn't that long ago I was the one fighting monsters, not working with them.
Agh! All this wouldn't be happening if I'd just managed to beat the Rangers In the first place. Getting caught by surprise like I had been.
As arrogant as it might be of me to say it, I just didn't make mistakes like that. It was just like what had happened before.
For an split second I thought I saw a head of blonde hair and a pair of stormy gray eyes.
I shook my head. Trying to clear my mind of what happened in Athens. Dwelling on the past wouldn't help anyone.
Right now I had a job to do. No matter how much I didn't like it.
3rd POV
As Damon dragged Kai away to a hopefully safer spot. Leo, Kendrix and Maya all pressed the points of their saber's into the alien's thick skin.
"That's my lunch!" Ruptor cried.
"Yeah, well you're not gonna eat our friend." Leo said voice overflowing with defiance.
"Try and stop me." The alien taunted before a red and blue flash of energy came from the monster's hands blasting the three of them backwards.
"Not this again." Groaned Maya as she and the others stood up on shaky feet.
"We can't keep this up." Said Kendrix. "We need to get out of here.
Looking around, Leo saw Damon and Kai a few yards away. Kai was out suit and grimacing in pain as he held his injured leg.
"I have may an idea." Leo said slowly as he turned his gaze back at the alien as he grabbed his silverware from the ground. Looking back at the girls. He asked. "Can you buy me a just a minute or two?"
"Ok, but I hope you have a plan Leo." Said Kendrix as Maya nodded an affirmative.
So do I! Thought Leo as the girls stood up and raised their swords up defensively.
"Get ready to run." Leo said and leapt into a full sprint toward Damon and Kai.
"Kai!" He asked skidding to a stop. "Do you remember when we were training together a couple days ago?"
Kai's eyes immediately widened in realization. "Do you think it could work?" He asked pulling out his Quasar Saber.
"If you have another idea now's the time." Leo said in a rush raising up his own saber.
Out of the corner of his eye, Leo saw Maya thrown to the ground the monster's giant fork pressing her into the ground.
"Whatever you're thinking I say do it." Damon said urgently.
"On three." Said Kai a blue glow running up the length of his saber.
"One." Said Leo readying his own saber as it began glowing red.
"Two." Kai responded shifting his position to let him swing his sword while stuck sitting down.
"THREE!" Both shouted together swinging their blades to with a resounding clang.
As Leo and Kai's respective fire and water powers collided, a blast of steam erupted from where their blades met rapidly covering the whole area.
"What!" Ruptor yelled as his vision was obscured.
"Let's get out of here." Said Maya.
"Not on my, Gah!" Ruptor started to say but was cut off by Kendrix kicking him in the face.
As the fog cleared a minute later. Ruptor hurriedly looked around for the Rangers and saw the astrocycles missing.
"Come back here, you cowards!" He yelled throwing his weapons to the ground in a fit of rage.
Ruptor screamed. "You can't escape me!"Snarling and cursing he reached down his hand grabbing around his fork. When out of the corner of his eye he saw tire tracks in the dirt leading away.
His broad grin returning he muttered to himself. "I'll find 'em. Whatever it takes!"
Miles away from where the rangers had been fighting, lay a rocky clearing and hillside lay quite and undisturbed. The only signs of life were a few hardy shrubs growing threw the cracks and crevices.
Finally, my strength is returning to me. Someone underground thought flexing their arm with a feeling of satisfaction.
The peaceful scene above ground promptly exploded with a force equivalent to detonating a metric ton of TNT.
The sound would've been deafening had anyone been around to hear it. Fire and smoke billowed from a newly made hole in the ground. Dust and debris enveloped the area in a choking cloud.
At the crater that had been formed at the explosions epicenter. As the smoke cleared a figure in dark armor leapt out onto the hillside, cape unfurling behind him.
Scorpius, I will have my revenge! He thought as the dust and smoke cleared. And the Lights of Orion!
The Rangers sat around in a semicircle, the remaining Astrocycles parked right next to them in case they needed a quick getaway.
"Ow ow!" Kai yelped as Kendrix examined and tried to tend to his leg.
"Your leg is broken." She told him. "I can't say for certain how badly, but I'm certain you must have multiple fractures after that bite. I doubt it could take much weight." She said looking up at him and seeing him nod. "But you could make it worse if you tried."
"Well if nobody else is going to say it, I will." Said Damon. "That could've gone better."
"You think!" Snapped Kai before wincing from the pain in his leg.
"Two monsters in one day." Said Maya shaking her head.
"Before you know it you'll be up to a hundred." Valdez's voice crackled in in their ears. His tone trying to be humorous.
A grim silence fell over the group at that.
"I hate to say it but that's a very real possibility." Kendrix said grimly shifting her attention from Kai's leg and looking at the others. "Did hear what that monster said earlier?"
"You mean about him wanting to eat us? Yeah I heard." Said Damon.
"No, I meant the part about that mystery guy looking for Furio." Kendrix explained.
"He ran off after that chest you had turned out to have that old book instead of the Lights he was looking for." Said Kai grimacing as he shifted position.
"Furio hasn't had much success against you." Valdez was saying. "One thing I know about evil overlord types is that they usually don't react to failure well."
"So what does that mean for us." Asked Maya.
"Hard to say." Said Valdez. "Furio's either going to be looking to get as far away from old tentacle face as possible. Or he'll be trying to figure out a way back into his good graces."
The Rangers sat quietly for a moment at that.
"The lights." Said Leo finally a minute later.
"What?" Questioned Damon.
"The Lights of Orion. It's what Furio was after earlier." Said Leo unsteadily getting to his feet. "And I'll bet that's what he'll be looking for now."
"Leo what are you doing." Maya asked in concern as he mounted his astrocycle.
"If the Lights of Orion are as powerful an energy source as they seem to think. Then I can't let Furio get his hands on them." Leo said fists tightening around the handlebars of his bike.
"Are you seriously thinking about running off on your own again?" Damon asked incredulously.
"I'm telling you now it's a bad idea man." Said Valdez.
"Leo think about this." Kendrix urged him. "Kai's already injured and you don't even know where he is."
"Guys I know your worried, but I have to do this. And I know right where he'll be looking." Leo said and tore away on his bike.
Trakeena POV
Scorpion Stinger
I stood in front of my father in his chambers.
"Trakeena." He spoke my name slowly.
"Father." I started hoping to distract him from whatever misplaced rage he had brewing for Percy. "I only wanted to find the Lights of Orion for you." I scowled as I added. "If Furio had actually found them instead of a dusty old tome.
My father let out a low growl at the mention of the former general's name. "It's bad enough that Perseus continually drags you into his failures.
It's not like you expect him to actually find that old thing! I thought listening as my father continued.
"My wayward former general had better hope that weakling has the resolve to take his head before I get my tentacles on him."
Seeing this was the best opportunity I was going to get. I tilted my head to the side cutely. Giving him what Percy called my puppy dog eyes. (Whatever that was?) And wiggling my antennas slightly. Just like I'd done whenever I'd wanted something when I was little and asked him.
"Dearest Father." I started. "Give me a chance! Let me find the Lights of Orion. If the Rangers get in my way, they'll regret it."
Letting out sound that was somewhere between a sigh and growl my father gave his usual answer.
"Trakeena, battling is for warriors not my sweet princess." He said.
Unable to help the pout that appeared on my lovely face I tried to argue. "But I want to go out. See what's out there in the galaxy. Conquer and destroy. You know have a social life.
Plucking a fleshmite from the wall. I popped in my mouth and while I crunched added. "The Scorpion Stinger is so, dead."
3rd POV
Entering the cave again Leo almost immediately heard repeating the sound of stone cracking and the dull thud of something heavy hitting the ground.
Trying to move quickly and quietly towards the end of the cave he started to hear a familiar voice, even if he couldn't quite make out what they were saying.
Coming up on the alcove were he and Mike or Mutantrum rather, had found that old chest earlier. There at the end of the cave was Furio hacking at the cave wall with his sword muttering under his breath.
"The Lights of Orion." Furio was saying. "I must have their power. I must be able to prove to Scorpius I am worthy."
Leo delicately took another step forward and internally winced as gravel audibly crunched beneath his foot.
"Hmm?" Sounded Furio turning to look behind him.
Unable to hide Leo instead shouted."Furio!"
"Red Ranger, I should've known that you'd show up." Furio said turning to face him.
"What are you doing here, Furio?" Leo challenged.
"Isn't it obvious ranger? Furio mocked. "I'm going to find The Lights of Orion and resecure my position at Lord Scorpius' side." He paused briefly in thought. "Although failing that, I'm sure bringing back your head will do the trick." Furio snarled brandishing his sword.
With that they both charged each other. Their blades met with a resounding clang. Behind Leo's helmet sweat was already starting to pour down his face.
"This will be our final battle Red Ranger! Furio grit out, pressing his blade against Leo's.
"I don't think so Furio!" Leo shouted quasar saber starting to glow red. "You'll never get the lights of Orion.
With a growl Furio's fist struck Leo's helmet causing him to stumble back from the force.
The glow from his saber fading, Leo lunged forward slamming his blade against Furio's again in a shower of sparks.
Looking Furio dead in the eyes despite the sweat stinging his eyes underneath his helmet.
"You killed my brother." Leo grit out. Like that was the worst thing anyone could ever do, ever.
"Don't worry, you'll be reunited with him soon." Retorted Furio before raising his sword and rapidly bringing it down in a savage barrage of strikes.
Struggling to even keep his saber raised and guard against the furious onslaught. Leo grit his teeth behind his helmet.
"You won't stop me Red Ranger, not this time!" Furio said raising his sword that was beginning to crackle with a bloody red energy.
"Raaargh!" He yelled and with a savage snarl swung his sword blasting out bolts of red energy.
Rapidly diving to the side Leo rolled to his feet and pointed his sword at Furio. The saber starting to glow red again wisps of the blade.
"You're nothing more than a curse on the universe Furio." Leo said slowly before bringing his sword down in fiery slash across Furio's chest, flames pouring off the blade. The force enough to knock Furio back.
Leo slumped down panting leaning on his saber. "It's over Furio, give it up." He panted.
Furio staggered forward, breathing pained and labored. A massive slash melted into his chest. Drops of molten metal dripping from his ruined armor.
"Graaah" Furio let out a pained groan taking a step towards Leo. A malevolent orange glow beginning to spread across his body.
Throwing himself forward, Furio quickly wrapped his arms around Leo.
"What are you doing?" Shouted Leo trying wrench himself free of Furio's iron grip.
Neither of them hearing the slow footsteps moving towards them.
The glow surrounding Furio grew brighter and harsher. Malicious energy crackling and arcing across his body. "I'm about to end our rivalry once and for all." He shouted. "Neither one of us will have the Lights of Orion
"This will be our final battle." Furio said the energy surrounding growing brighter and more intense. Leo was becoming increasingly desperate trying to break away from Furio,
"Farewell Red Ranger!" Yelled Furio as the glow grew blinding.
Closing his eyes to brace himself Leo felt a hand grab on his shoulder.
Leo felt himself being thrown backwards to the ground. Followed by a deafening noise and the sensation of incredibly intense heat.
Looking up even as he was losing consciousness, Leo managed to make the silhouette of someone in dark armor standing between him and the explosion's epicenter.
"Leo!" He heard a voice shout from outside as he blacked out.
Percy POV
From my position on top of one of the nearby hills. I saw as the guy in the black armor placed the red ranger on the ground. I numbly watched as the other rangers rushed to check on their friend.
I sat down on the ground struggling to process whatever it was that'd just happened. I'd seen had felt that explosion a minute ago. It wasn't hard to figure out.
Furio was dead.
I knew that Furio hadn't had a whole lot of hope for the near future. But still I was shocked and saddened to see him go out like that.
"Wait saddened?" I realized with a start and getting back to my feet.
How could I be mourning Furio of all people!? I wondered. Furio who barely understood the concept of noncombatants, was always angry, yelling, and looking to pick a fight.
And I would know. After all I'd fought alongside him countless times, against killer robots, pirates, wandering Sporix, and more.
I frowned as I kept thinking.
We'd never liked each other or even really gotten along for that matter. Though we'd fought alongside each other and saved each other's lives more times than I could count.
"Oh gods, we were friends weren't we." I yelled.
Our relationship had been rocky at the best of times but in the end we'd still been brothers in arms.
As I was trying to make sense of this revelation, I noticed Riptide in my hand.
I didn't remember uncapping it. I looked back at the Rangers again, idly turning Riptide over in my hand
It would be so easy to kill them. The thought came to my head poisonous and unbidden. My grip on Riptide tightened.
Furio whatever the circumstances would've gone down swinging. That the red ranger was still alive, would leave Furio turning in his grave.
I could do it I realized. I could easily kill the Red Ranger, especially in his weakened state. The other rangers wouldn't be able to stop me either. I didn't know who the guy in armor was but I wasn't going to let that stop me.
I'll make it quick. I thought savagely
I took a step forward Riptide in my hand. Looking down at the Rangers again I noticed their hands gripping the Quasar sabers.
My shoulders slumped.
If I went down there and beat the Rangers, Scorpius would inevitably claim the Quasar Sabers.
Once again I had power that I didn't dare use.
Something out of the corner of my eye caught my attention. In the distance that Ruptor monster was slowly heading towards the where the rangers were. There was nothing I could do to stop that. At least not without Scorpius taking it out of my hide.
Letting out a sigh I reluctantly decided to head back. Ruptor would inevitably take care of the Rangers. Especially considering the state some of them seemed to be in. There wasn't any point to staying around to watch and mentally gripe like an angsty bitch.
With that thought I teleported back to the Scorpion Stinger in a swirl of green light.
3rd POV
The remaining rangers brought their Astrocycles to a screeching halt outside the cave.
"Come on, he went this way." Said Maya.
A deafening and thunderous boom sounded from deep within the cavern. Tongues of flame licking the entrance.
"LEO!" Kendrix shouted as fire and smoke violently erupted from the cave entrance.
"Kendrix don't!" Damon yelled as he grabbed a hold of her as she tried to run towards the cave.
"There's no telling how unstable that cave is now, it could collapse on top of you without warning." Said Kai propped up on his bike.
"Huh? Wait." Said Maya. "I see something, is that?."
The other rangers immediately turned to look at the smoke pouring from the cave entrance. A humanoid silhouette was faintly visible. Moving towards the mouth of the cave. Something seemingly in its arms.
A moment later the figure emerged from the smoke completely Leo's prone unmorphed form carried in his arms.
The figure wore black armor head to toe, with a green hexagon on his chest, and bull like horns on his helmet. A black cape with a crimson red interior unfurling behind him.
"Huh? Who is that?" Asked Damon.
"He's got Leo." Said Kendrix watching as stranger approached.
As he approached them. He gently laid Leo down on the ground.
"Leo." Said Kendrix rushing over and immediately checking his vitals.
"Is he?" Asked Valdez asked.
"He's fine, just unconscious." Said Kendrix relief evident in her voice.
"Who are you?" Asked Damon turning to the stranger.
"I am the sworn enemy of Scorpius." He answered. "I am-
"RANGERS!" A familiar voice shouted cutting him off.
There was Ruptor making his way towards them his silverware in hand. "I'll chase you to the ends of this planet and beyond if I have to."
"It's him again." Said Maya as she and the others drew their sabers.
"He's back." Growled Kai.
Kendrix took a step forward her sword in hand. Only to have the stranger hold his arm out in front of her in clear signal to stop.
"Huh?" Said Kendrix confused .
"Leave him to me." He answered striding forwards.
"Whoever you are you're not going to get between me and my Ranger buffet!" Yelled Ruptor shaking his fork as he pointed it at him. "Stinwingers!"
Dozens of the bug foot soldiers appeared in a flash of light immediately charging towards the figure in black.
Drawing his sword in dramatic flourish cutting the nearest stingwinger across its chest. Before he immediately unleashing a rapid series of slashes at the bugs rushing at him.
Breaking free of the melee he twisted on the guard of his sword. A mechanical shifting noise sounded as his weapon transforms into a gun.
Pointing it at the squads of charging stingwingers he squeezed the trigger releasing a barrage of light green energy bolts. Mowing them down and blowing most of them to pieces.
"Whoa." Murmured Maya.
"Wait! This guy has a gun sword?" Exclaimed Damon.
"He has a what now?" Asked Valdez sounding incredulous.
"Iyayayaya!" Yelled Ruptor charging at the armored figure at top full speed.
"You are brave but foolish." He said stoically as he changed his weapon back into sword mode.
"Mike!" Leo shouted bolting upright.
"Leo." Said Kendrix helping him sit up. The metallic clang of weapons repeatedly sounding from the the fight.
"Wait, what happened?" Leo asked as he struggled to his feet.
"After the explosion that guy carried you out." Said nodding her head towards the fight.
"Who's he?" Asked Leo staring intently at the dark armored figure.
Before Kendrix could answer there was a particularly loud clang followed by a clatter as Ruptor's fork hit the ground.
"Your finished." The Stranger said bringing his sword down in a massive leaping slash. Dark blue green energy pouring off of the blade. The force of his swing enough to spin him in a one eighty leaving him in an epic pose facing towards the Rangers.
"Graaahh!" Ruptor moaned as his strength gave out and he fell over. Flames enveloping him as he the ground. As his vision faded the alien watched as the black clad figure walked away his cape billowing in the wind.
"Wow!" Damon murmured as he approached the group.
"That was incredible!" Maya exclaimed. "You beat that guy with no effort.
"Who are you?" Kendrix asked again.
"I am the Magna Defender." He answered.
"Why are you after Scorpius." Questioned Kai.
"I have my reasons." The Defender ground out enunciating every word.
"Wait a minute." Said Leo eagerly. "Why don't we work together?"
"I work with no one." The Magna Defender said gruffly.
"But we're all fighting for the same thing, aren't we?" Asked Kendrix.
"You have no idea what I'm fighting for." The Magna Defender hissed. "You don't know me at all! And you have no idea what Scorpius is capable of!"
Leo just stared at the Magna Defender scrutinizing and thought to himself. Why does he remind me of Mike so much.
"A team of novice Power Rangers will only get in my way. This has been a waste of my time." The Magna Defender Huffed and turned to leave with a flourish of his cape.
For a moment I thought he might've been. But I guess I was wrong. Thought Leo.
Before anyone could come up with something to say to try and change the Defender's mind, all of them froze hearing a loud groan.
"I'm not dead yet!" Ruptor rasped out.
Looking over in surprise. Everyone saw the alien struggling to his feet and leaning on his knife as a makeshift crutch.
"He's still alive?!" Exclaimed Kai.
Even the Magna Defender reared back slightly in shock.
"You think you've won?" Ruptor started, pulling out a familiar looking beaker. "But now I really get to have some fun!" He declared as he ripped out the cork with an audible pop, and poured the contents directly down his throat.
There was a sickening stretching sound as the alien's body started to expand. Until there was a blast of light and Ruptor emerged the size of a skyscraper.
"Time to finish you off!" He cackled licking his lips.
"We're in trouble!" Said Leo looking up at the giant monster.
"Yah!" The monster yelled red and blue energy bolts shooting from his hands downwards at the Rangers.
"Move!" Leo ordered grabbing Kai and trying to leap out of the way. The other Rangers instantly jumped trying to get out of ground zero.
The blast hit the ground a second later causing an explosion throwing the Rangers threw the air.
"Cmon guy's." Leo said obviously in pain as the dust clouds started to settle. "We gotta get up."
The Magna Defender strode towards the monster unfazed. Looking back over his shoulder he simply said. "He's mine." And continued forward without another word.
"What's he doing?" Asked Maya as the Rangers all stood up on shaky legs.
"He's crazy." Said Damon bewildered.
He's going to get himself killed!" Exclaimed Leo alarmed.
"Nothing will stop me, nothing!" The Magna Defender declared before yelling."Torozord charge!"
The ground beneath their feet began to shake. In the distance another explosion sounded as a chasm opened. Something bellowing and bleating as it tried to climb out.
Finally the head of a giant black metallic bull emerged from the ground. It's hooves clawing at the sides trying to pull itself out.
As it finished heaving itself out of the ground it immediately turned towards Ruptor stomping It's hooves and and bellowing in challenge.
"Torozord charge!" The Magna Defender yelled again.
Letting out a mighty roar the giant bull lowered it's head and charged. Hooves thundering, the ground quaking beneath it, as it ran.
"Gah!" Ruptor yelled as it bowled him over and sent him rolling.
"Now Torozord." The Defender called. The beast dutifully responding, trotted over to him, planting its feet on either side of the Defender, head directly over him.
"Mega Defender transform!"
The Torozord's eyes lit up a bright crimson red, emitting an energy field that enveloped the Magna Defender.
With that the Magna Defender began to transform. Growing taller his armor shifted gaining red portions. A pair of long hilted swords appearing in his hands as his height came to match the Torozord's.
Leaping onto the zord's back the Defender slotted his blades together forming them into a double ended javelin.
Hefting his weapon in one hand he grabbed the chains attached to the Zord's back with the other.
"Yah!" He yelled snapping the reins and spurring his steed into a charge at Ruptor.
The armored bull and its rider leapt at the monster. Swinging his javelin the Defender slashed his blade across the monster's chest releasing a shower of sparks.
"Gah!" Ruptor yelled dropping his silverware.
Turning his mount around the Defender snapped the reins again with a shout urging his steed into another joust.
This time though Ruptor was ready. Having gotten back to his feet when the Defender swung his blade Ruptor caught it in the prongs of his fork.
"Raaaah" the alien shouted swinging the flat of his knife into the Magna Defender's side before he could react. Knocking him off his mount.
"Yeah!" Ruptor shrieked excitedly stabbing his fork at the Defender on the ground.
Letting out a defiant bellow the Torozord rammed its head into Ruptor's gut sending him stumbling back just as the Magna Defender narrowly rolled out of the way.
"Defender Torozord activate!" The Defender commanded leaping to his feet.
The Torozord rose up backwards on its hind legs. Assuming a humanoid stance its front legs shifted becoming arms, rotating to reveal hands. It's hind legs rotating to become feet. Then it's torso opened revealing an empty compartment. The Mega Defender immediately jumped in, their limbs aligning. With that the chest plate closed and the Torozord's head turned up ninety degrees revealing a new face.
"So you have a Megazord as well." Said Ruptor pointing his fork. "I'll just eat you and be done with it."
A double bladed axe appeared to the Defender Zord's hand. Raising it up it began to glow.
Seeing this Ruptor immediately spun around on his heel presenting his armored back.
The axe came down in three furious swings. Shattering Ruptor's carapace into pieces.
Slowly Ruptor turned back around. "Agh!" He groaned as he fell over face first and erupting into a blast of fire.
Leaving the Defender Torozord standing triumphant.
The Rangers were finally riding back towards the city.
Kai sat behind Damon, letting him drive the blue bike, seeing as he was in no shape to drive himself with his leg.
Seeing something up ahead Kendrix shouted. "Stop here!" Everyone immediately hitting their brakes.
As the bikes coasted to a stop, Kendrix practically flew off her astrocycle.
"Woah, Kendrix what's going on?" Leo asked watching as she rushed over to pick something up off the ground.
"Wait is that the book from that chest earlier?" Asked Kai.
Kendrix nodded and held it up for the others to see. " I don't know what's in here. But we can't leave something like this out here.
"Do you think you can translate it?" Asked Valdez.
Looking towards the city Kendrix answered determination in her voice. "I won't know until I try."
Well, we've reached the end of the second arc of this story. And moving right into the third we have the Magna Defender. The action has just been kicked up a notch.
The author is seen working on a train engine trying to attach a jet turbine. The locomotive has the word hype printed on its side in bold lettering.
Turning around I point with wrench at a pile of parts that used to be the train's brakes. "You all know what this means. I'm not gonna say it though."
