Okay so...this is also unexpected. Uhhh, was not expecting to get this chapter out this quickly. I can only guess it's because it's MUCH smaller compared to the other chapters besides the Prologue. But don't worry the chapters should be back to being longer from here. Though I personally enjoy writing smaller chapters, it makes it easier for me to write.
Though I'm sure you guys like longer chapters, I personally do...when I'm not the one writing them, haha... *ahem* Anyways I hope you guys enjoy this another sudden update!
Seriously where the hell was this motivation when I needed back for chapter 7 and 9?!
Clearly I can get chapters out pretty quick when the motivation hits just right!
The room is… a bit dark.
That was the first thought to cross my mind when I first got a proper look of the room. The next is that compared to the other rooms along with the Game Station, this room is really big. Like despite the lighting, I can faintly make out that this room just keeps going down with no end in sight. Bunzo did say the game is more focus on endurance….
So, I guess that would explain the size of this place.
Still…despite the size of the room I spotted some fluorescent lights that go straight down the middle of the room. And those are the only lights I can see. At least it proves some light, but it leaves a good chunk of the room covered in shadows. It's enough to see what's around but not enough to see the whole picture. Along with lights, I also spotted some weird glowing circle lights attach to the ceiling… I can't quite figure out what they are but I'm sure I'll find out once the game starts.
Back on the ground though, I saw a small castle like walls that I'm not sure if it's made of actual bricks or foam and can faintly make out a metal gate that is closed, preventing anyone from passing through. I'm guessing the gate will open when the game starts. And lastly on the floor there are colorful patterns of red, yellow and blue mats. They are soft to walk on, which is nice for my foot compared to the concrete I've been walking on before.
Walking further into the room I scanned around trying to find where the TV is and possible where Mommy would show up. It was about I was more center in the room that I found the observation room and the sudden sounds of a TV suddenly turning on. Which…admittedly had startle me a bit as I wasn't it expecting to just suddenly turn on.
At least I know where the TV is now…
Quickly walking over to the direction of the TV, in hopes to catch what is showing, the voice from the other tapes began to speak.
"Welcome to Statues!" The voice said as I walked up to the screen, to see the 3D image of the room with the yellow figure standing in the middle. The image soon faded out to show a side profile of the figure running in place. "This advanced obstacle course is designed to test your physical endurance and strength. The rules are simple. The lights will turn off." The screen went back to showing the 3D image of the room with the yellow figure once again standing in the middle with the show case of the lights turning off. "You can move through the obstacle course at this time."
Wait…
I have to navigate this room in the dark?!
What in the bloody hell!
How in the hell am I supposed to do that with out fumbling around like an idiot? Actually, how did the kids do this and not get scared is the bigger question. And I'm so going to give Bunzo an earful for not warning me about this!
"However, when the lights turn on, you can look around but can not move." Okay… well I guess that'll help me somewhat in planning my next move. "You may move again once the lights turn back off."
Huh…the game is almost like 'red light, green light' game that I'm familiar with. Instead of someone saying the light colors we have the lights flickering on and off. I can…kind of get behind that. Doesn't mean I'm still happy at the thought of running around in the dark. Another thing though…
What the hell is that weird sticky-tappy like sound I'm hearing? It sounds like it's getting closer, but I can't make out where it is coming from.
Focusing back on the TV, the screen then showed this weird cure-like image of PJ Pug-a-Pillar that had me flinching back a bit at how creepy it looks. Dear God…do they actually show this images to the kids?! That would give them nightmares!
"The lovable PJ Pug-a-Pillar will follow you!"
Lovable?
Really?
Out of all the images they could have use they used this one and had the balls to say that!
"If PJ reaches you, your test is over! That's all. Good luck!"
Right as the video ends that weird sound I was hearing came to a stop and with it a loud barking sound—similar to a dog—echo in the room. I look over to where I heard the sound and saw a shadowy smiley figure standing on this hill—that I didn't notice before with how dark it is—next to the TV. Looking back at the TV to see if there was anything else, before snapping my head back over to gap at the shadow figure. One that I can hear panting sounds that also reminded me the sounds dogs make.
And oh my god seeing PJ—as it has to be him—in person surrounded by darkness, it really makes him even look more scarier. And they subjected this to the kids? For what purpose?!
"…" I… couldn't find the words to say what I'm exactly feeling at the moment. This…this might be the first time a toy is actually scaring me right now. Just from visual alone.
"It was always so sad to see the kids goo…" Mommy voice suddenly echo through the room. I look over to the observation room and saw her—standing up right for once—on the window. "They called me 'Mommy' because I was the closet thing they ever had to one."
…Should I mention that is her actually name or…?
"But they'd come for games, and never come back. They left Mommy to die along. Mommy didn't deserve that! But you?" I flinched at bit a the sudden hint of anger in her voice "You left us, left me. Leaving us all behind to rot in this place. So, if anyone deserves to die alone, it's you."
"But I never wanted to leave, remember!" I cried out "I've never wanted to forget you or everyone here! If I could have come back sooner, could've remember about this place, I would have come back!"
"Then why didn't you?"
"What…?" I asked in confusion
"You could have remembered sooner if you had tried to question that man you call you 'uncle' much harder. You said he flipped, when anything of this place was mentioned! The Lily back then would've been curious about the 'why' and looked for answers. Always so mischievous and curious little thing you were back thing. But you didn't. Why is that?"
…
"Ah…I-I…"
"Enough." Mommy snapped back, not giving me the chance to gather my thoughts or explain the possible reason for why. "PJ has been eagerly waiting for your return to play again. Now let's play one. Last. Time."
I flinched when the lights suddenly shut off leaving me in darkness and the sounds of music playing and that same weird sound that I heard slowly coming closer.
"Shit…" I cursed under my breath carefully turning around in running to the direction I faintly remember where the gate was. That sticky sound I must been hearing is PJ feet moving across the floor, at least it helps me listen to how far or close he is to me. Though it doesn't help that I can barely see where I'm going, I can faintly—stretching on the word faintly—see what's in front of me. I believe I made the turn around the wall since I haven't run into anything yet.
"!?" I quickly came to a halt when the lights suddenly turn on with the music shutting off, I saw that I had almost ran into the wall in front of me. The rules said I can look around but can't move from my spot. Doing that, I took note that I'm at the end of the hall and just need to make a slight turn, I could put my hand on the castle wall and drag across it to feel when to make the next turn.
Though…it's a bit creepy that all I can hear is my breath and the sounds of PJ feet coming closer to me. Speaking off I glance behind me to see he's head slowing making his way through the gate. Shit! I need to move faster.
When the lights turned back off and the music kick back on I quickly ran putting my hand on the foam wall using it to help guide me through this maze.
"Damn it…" Why couldn't Mommy give me the time to answer her question? To at least gather my thoughts to explain the reasoning for me taking so long to remember about this place. It…It kinda hurt that she didn't give me a chance to explain. It's not like I could help what happen to me, I was a little kid! And saying stuff about me like she really knows who I was when I was little. I don't know why I didn't pressure my uncle for more answers or tried to look up about this place.
Actually, the last reason I can explain, the internet wasn't all that great back then and I wouldn't even know how to use it without some help. And as for not pressuring my uncle…the first two years after waking up were really disorienting for me. I couldn't remember as single thing about me or my past and just suddenly being told where I was, who was taking care of me and everything else! It took a long time for me to get some semblance of who I was!
So, what right does she have to be mad at me? I would have understood a bit if she didn't already know back in Wack-A-Wuggy. She had some prior knowledge of what had happened and with me giving more answers to it. Then why is she so mad?
"Of fuck!" I cursed freezing in place when the lights turn on and saw what is in front of me. Good news I finally made it out of the maze, bad news…
"Oh, this is just lovely…" Well now I know what those ring lights are. They are some kind of monkey bars but instead of the regular kind this are more spaced out and very high from the ground. This seems to be more designed for the GrabPack, since even if you climb the ladder the rings are still out of reach. It's simple I wouldn't have to much of a problem getting across…if the lights reminded on and I could you know…move during those times instead.
No what had me cursing is what's below the damn thing. A giant massive foam pit to catch you if you fell. Which is great, if you weren't running for your life! Those things are hard to crawl out of and I don't even know how deep the pit is. So, I can't tell that if I fall will I be able to feel the ground and slowly walk across or will I be forced to scramble around.
So much for trying to avoid the foam pit…
I'm just going have to try and not fall I thought, bracing myself to get ready to run once the lights shut back off again. And once they did I booked it to the ladder quickly climbing up, it's only thanks to the lights the rings are imitating that I'm able to faintly see the ladder and where to run. Once at time I carefully try to aim the green hand to first ring.
When I felt it latch on, I hit the switch to let me up. Instead of swinging across the bars, I'm going to shot the blue hand as far as I can aim it and then release the green hand. It'll make me swing but once I start to slow down I'll repeat the process till I make it to the end. There about eight rings in total if I can latch to the fourth one that'll make me halfway across the second course.
However, with how dark it is despite the ring lights helping me out a bit, it's still hard to tell where I was aiming. When I release the blue hand I saw the shadow grip of it on the third ring instead of the one I wanted. Well…at least it caught on something the first time so that's good enough for me. Letting the green hand release, it grip I felt myself slightly drop down before I began to swing back in forth.
Right as I was about to aim again the light came on, making me curse a little under my breath. But at least this give me a chance to properly aim and for the swinging to slow down more. I can also see some the third course which seems to be tunnels that I would need to crawl through. There's three options to choose from but I don't know what I'll pick I guess the middle if I succeed in getting across this course.
Hearing the sounds of PJ feet I look behind me to see him now coming around the corner of the castle wall. Damn it, I need to get a move on, can the lights shut off already?!
Right after thinking that the lights shut off and I quickly shot the green hand to the seventh bar making it one bar closer to the end. This will defiantly give me a bit of a boost from PJ. When I let go of the of the button of the blue hand and feeling myself fly across the field once more the lights suddenly came back on much quicker than last time. It startle me to the point that I release the green hand I yelped out in surprise when I fell down landing on my back in the pit.
"Damn it, no!" I grunted trying to wiggle around a bit as much as I'm allowed to with the lights being on. I can see that I'm near the edge which is a relief in itself. But it's going to take me awhile to get there, I can already feel myself sinking down between the foam blocks.
When they shut back off I quickly tried to get back upright, only to faceplant back into the pit. "For the love of…" with more grunting, cursing, I felt the palm of my hand slapping on the mat as I panted from being out of breath. When the lights came back on, I let out a groan of misery. "That took way too long…" I glance back over to see PJ now starting to crawl up the ladder.
Is he going to climb up the pole or something?
Looking back forward I can get a better view of the tunnel before and able to make out the words above each tunnel. There is easy, medium and hard, why they have it set up like that I don't really know and just too tired to really care. With the rate I'm going at and the speed of PJ slowly catching up to me, my best bet is to take the easy path.
That's if this isn't a trick choice and it turns out it truly didn't matter what tunnel you took. Wouldn't put it past this company to do that.
With the lights back off and music once again playing, I quickly heaved myself back up to the floor and quickly ran towards the direction of the entrance, only to bash my head in the wall.
"Ow!" I rub my aching forehead. I guess I missed judge the distance of when I needed to crouch. Getting down I quickly crawled into the very dark tunnel.
God I can't even see where I'm going! At least outside I could faintly make out where I was moving too! If there was no music playing I would be questioning when I'm supposed to freeze, better yet how would they even know I stopped moving in the tunnels when the lights turn back on? I'm kinda tempted to test it out if Mommy would know, but I'm not stupid enough to try that.
I was about maybe five or six steps in crawling up this tunnel when I faintly saw some lights further down turn on and the music stop. Well…I guess I now know there are lights in here. Though not really helpful in looking around.
"Not to mention…how am I supposed to know where PJ at?" I can still him crawling around but thankfully still a distance away. He must still be making his way across the second course. I won't be able to tell where he is at, but at least I know I'm safe for the time being. I thought as I began to move forward again with the lights turned off and the music started playing.
Bam!
"Forget this!" I huffed reaching up to click on my flashlight. I don't give a damn anymore if this breaks the rules or not. This is the second time I've run into something on this course alone because I can't see where I'm going. I'll just have to carefully listen to when the music stops playing in order to know when I should stop.
"Finally, the exist!" I exclaimed in joy upon seeing the end of the tunnel in sight. I can faintly make out the third course, but I won't fully know what it is till I'm out and hopefully the lights turn on so I can see where I'm supposed to go. I quickly turn the flashlight off, so Mommy won't see it when I finally crawl out of the tunnels. I know I probably might have cheated in there, but I rather not get caught. Especially with how close I am to finally getting the last piece of the code. I hope that once I get it, Mommy can tell me where she's holding Poppy at.
I hope she's doing okay…
Finally crawling out of the tunnels, I got back up to my feet just in time for the lights to turn on and see what I'm dealing with.
"Oh, come on!" I groaned.
Foam blocks
Big yellow foam block that are surrounded by smaller foam blocks in the even bigger foam pit! This is just my luck, I thought I was done with that! Taking a look at it my best bet is to climb on the big blocks and jump my away across on them. I can make out that they are a good distance apart, but I should be able to make those jumps.
Probably…
Though there is something concerning me right now. I can't fully make it out what I'm seeing but there is something big on the other side and it looks really dark. And the strange feeling of unease that's starting to form in my stomach.
Something is definitely not right here. I can't put my finger on it, but I feel like what I'm seeing shouldn't even be there. I just feel like this is the last course and that whatever is on the other side was not there when I left this place.
"…" I look behind me, hearing PJ feet coming closer as the seconds go by, yet I can't see him. I can only guess he is in one of the tunnels right now. Looking back forward I took in a deep breath and just as the lights turn back off I quickly ran to the first yellow block. It only thanks to the lights coming from the observation room on my right that I can see a bit better with the lights being off.
I don't know what to expect on the other side, but I have no choice but to keep moving. Whatever it is I'll deal with it when I get there.
It wasn't till I was half way across that I was able to make out what I was seeing, and I froze in my place in a mixture of shock and horror despite the fact that the lights are still off.
"No…"
The exist its…not there.
"This can't be…" I collapsed down to my knees, still struggling to process what's in front of me. How did… when did…
Looking back, I had noticing that the place seem to have some structural damage throughout the place. And with having no maintenance being done in over ten years, things would began to fall apart. Mommy had to know about this! There's no way she wouldn't have. Especially given what she last said to me. Could she had set me up all this time? Bu what about her saying that I could just stay here instead back in Wack-A-Wuggy?
Oh God! Bunzo! He tried to warn me about something but couldn't remember what it was, it had to be this! If he did know, Huggy and him would have not let me go alone in here despite Mommy's rules. And because he couldn't remember I walked in here alone! Into a possible trap.
"…Maybe." It's a far stretch but maybe there is a hole or something in there that I could see or use to get out of this room. Hope may not be fully lost, but it will be if I don't get a move on. I looked over my shoulder to see PJ slowly making his way across the pit. With me sitting here during the time I should be moving; PJ was able to catch up and the lights had also turned on forcing me to not move.
However, the moment they turn back off I quickly got back to my feet and hurried as much as I could across the rest of this damn course. Carefully jumping down to the floor, I had to pause in place when the lights came back on.
"Come on, there has to be something…!" Now that I'm much closer to the rumble, I scanned around from where I stand trying to find something that could help me get out. But my luck was not good. "Shit!" I huffed feeling the anxiety ramp up inside me the closer I can hear PJ walking, signaling that I don't have much time before he on me.
I don't know if PJ is friend or foe, unlike the other toys he hasn't said anything to me besides making the same sounds a dog would make.
I mean should I try and call out to him? I don't know if it'll do anything, and Mommy could see that as me cheating. What should I do?
Bam! Bam!
Bambam!
Lil!
Lil lil!
"Huh?"
It was the loud banging noise of something hitting a glass and faintly hearing a muffle call. When I looked over to the last observation room at the very end of the hall, my eyes widen in shock upon seeing all of the little Huggies. They were pressed against the glass banging on it to try and get my attention. Once they saw that they have my attention they've began yelling something and pointing up.
Frowning I tilted my head up a bit and my eyes widen seeing a grabrail that I can latch the GrabPack too. I could escape from there! I nodded my head back to them, to let them know I caught what they are saying and also not wanting to tip Mommy off. I waited until the lights turn back off and quickly shot the green and to the handle.
Since I didn't want to be suddenly launched into the air and smacking myself even harder into the wall, I quickly ran towards it and then hit the switch to let me up. Once up I happily waved at them before telling them to back away from the window pane. When they had back up a safe distance, I examine the window to see if there was another way to get in without breaking it, but unfortunately I could not find one. I look down to see PJ is still making his way through the pit.
It doesn't look like he noticed that I have left the ground yet. Looking back, I placed both of me feet on the glass and use that as a platform to jump back. Quickly raising my left arm to shield my face from the glass, my body broke through it with no problem. I grunt of pain escaped me when I fell down to the ground.
I let out a breath of relief to see that I've safely made it across, now I just got to brush off all this glass on me and I'll be good! As I went to do that the Huggies ran up to me.
"Gege!" Vi exclaimed.
"I'm okay." I told them brushing the glass out of my hair. "But…how did you guys get here? Not that I'm complaining, you practically saved me back there." Last I saw them, they were playing around the playground. I highly doubt they all could have somehow escape from both Huggy and Bunzo without them noticing.
Unless…
"Wait…did they send you here."
"Gi!" They all said with a nod.
"Huh…" I can only guess that Bunzo might have remembered what was wrong with this room and quickly told Huggy. In turn they would have asked the little Huggies to come and help me out. They would have an easier time sneaking past Mommy compared to the other two and they would have been a bit more familiar with this place.
"I'll have to remember and give them my thanks." I said "Now, how about we get out of here before Mommy notices that I escaped."
They all nodded, and Pluto pointed over to the hole in the ground that is close to the wall. I walked over and looked down seeing that the holes goes a bit down and has a slight curve to it.
"Is this the way you guys came from?"
"Ri~!" Sky nods walking up to me with the others following.
Now that I'm getting a closer look at them, I did notices some specks of dirt on their fur. Guess they did come up this way.
"Well after you guy then."
Right after saying that my worst fear came to be as me and the others all stiffen up at the sudden panic voice of Mommy.
"Where did you go? The game is over, you won~! Mommy will give you the code. Pinky promise!"
"We need to go now!" I hurried called out to them, they nodded and one by one they jumped down the hole.
"Hehe, Mommy knows the game is really hard, but Mommy just decided you won! Hehehahah! Come back!" Crap her voice is sounding much closer and sounding even more insane the more she talks. "Come on, don't be shy now. Hehehe! Mommy was only joking about killing you! Just come out of hiding and we can go back to the old times! How does that sound? Just me and you…playing again like the old days. Don't…you…WANT THAT!?"
When it was just Vi and I left in the room, Vi quickly indicated that they wanted me to go next and I wasn't going to argue with them and quickly pushed myself down the hole almost letting out a yelp as I slide down.
"Hahahah! Mommy won't let you leave, Lily!"
"I won't allow it! Hehehe!"
"COME BACK TO ME!"
Alrighty, I hope you guys enjoyed this. There wasn't much of a big difference from the game and no memories this time. That's...probably what help me and getting it done much quicker. Honestly thought it would have been a bit longer in my mind from what I was picturing this chapter.
Anyway I wanted to give a small thanks to MewX42. They had sent me a quote to use back when I was asking for some help in chapter 9. And it was good but sadly didn't fit with what was going on between Mommy and Lily, but here though, I felt like it fitted much better.
Now one last thing I want to get your opinion on. As you know the story is coming to an end. Can't believe it's almost over! I have been debating about doing one last final conversation between the two but in this case it would be Lily ask the questions a bit more than MML. I have also thought about not doing it either as it'll take a bit of extra time to figure out what to do and what to ask.
So my question for you guys is do you want to me to add that scene in their final talk. And I do mean in their final talk, as there won't be another time. If you guys want to see it happen then in the next chapter I'll be asking for you guys to help for any possible questions Lily should ask. But PLEASE don't put them in this chapter.
That's everything, I'll see you guys in the next chapter! Only four more chapter left! Also I can't believe we've finally hit the 100k mark for the story! Also if you want to know about the progress of each chapter just click on my profile and scroll down a bit and you'll see where I am at notes and story wise.
