Chapter 10: Kong Meets Godzilla
POV: Jason Brooks, the New King Kong*
Jason Brooks, a seasoned actor known for his incredible portrayal of iconic monsters, stepped onto the set for his latest role. He had played King Kong before, many times in fact, and he loved every minute of it. The power, the raw emotion that came with playing the towering ape—it was something only a few actors could understand. He had been brought in as a last-minute addition to the Godzilla sequel. The studio wanted something bigger, more explosive. And what could be bigger than King Kong facing off against Godzilla?
He wasn't briefed on much. The studio execs had been cagey, telling him to just focus on the role and not worry about the behind-the-scenes drama. "Just film, come back, and keep going," they said. He had laughed it off. This was Hollywood, after all. There was always drama.
But one thing they told him stuck with him: *If Quest starts acting weird, don't pay any attention to it. Just chalk it up to exhaustion.*
Jason had met Quest Strother once, years ago, at a fan event. Quest was a massive Godzilla fan, and Jason had been impressed by his dedication to the craft. The guy knew more about Godzilla than anyone Jason had ever met. But something had changed. The crew had been whispering about it, though no one would tell him directly. Some said Quest never left the Godzilla suit. Others said there wasn't a suit anymore, that Quest had *become* Godzilla.
Jason brushed it off as Hollywood gossip. He had a job to do. And today, that job was facing off against the king of the monsters.
POV: Director Alan Kessler*
Alan Kessler watched from his chair as Jason, in his massive King Kong suit, prepared for the scene. The set had been built to mimic a destroyed city, the buildings rising around them like broken teeth. The atmosphere was tense, more so than it had been on the last film. He could feel it in the air, a weight pressing down on everyone.
Then there was Quest—or Godzilla, as they all called him now. The last film had changed everything. There was no mechanical animatronic anymore, no cables or gears inside that monstrous suit. The government had made sure they continued filming, but Alan had seen what had happened to Quest.
It was no longer just a suit.
Quest's body had fused with Godzilla's form, skin and bone replacing the metal and wires that once controlled the beast. Alan had seen it up close when they first tried to remove Quest from the suit—how his human skin had morphed into scales, his eyes glowing like Godzilla's. The suit had become part of him.
Now, every movement Godzilla made wasn't just acting—it was *real*. Quest *was* Godzilla, from the jagged teeth to the thundering tail. And it terrified everyone on set, though no one dared say it out loud.
"Action!" Alan called, his voice steady despite the knot in his stomach.
POV: Jason Brooks*
The scene started as any normal fight sequence would. Jason, in his King Kong suit, swung his massive arms, slamming them into the side of a crumbling skyscraper. He let out a roar—Kong's roar—echoing across the set as he advanced toward Godzilla.
Quest—or Godzilla—stood motionless at first, his back turned. Jason's heart raced. The detail on the Godzilla suit was mind-blowing. It was so realistic, the way the muscles moved under the scales, the way the skin shimmered in the light. It didn't look like a suit at all.
Then, Godzilla turned, and Jason's breath caught in his throat.
The eyes… they were *alive*. There was no mask, no glassy animatronic stare. The eyes that looked back at him were sharp, intelligent, and filled with something… darker. Jason could feel it in his gut. That wasn't Quest anymore.
Before he could react, Godzilla roared, the sound shaking the entire set. But it wasn't just a roar. There was something else, something human buried in the sound—a glitchy, distorted scream that made Jason's skin crawl.
This wasn't in the script.
Jason charged forward, throwing a massive punch, just as he had rehearsed. Godzilla moved faster than he expected, dodging the blow with an unnatural grace. The next thing Jason knew, Godzilla's tail whipped around, slamming into his side with terrifying force.
Jason staggered back, struggling to stay in character. The blow had been real, *too* real. He could feel the bruises forming already.
The scene continued, but Jason couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. Godzilla's movements were too fluid, too real. Every step, every snarl—it was like watching an actual monster come to life. And the crew… they weren't calling cut.
Godzilla lunged forward, its massive claws aimed at Jason's chest. He reacted on instinct, grabbing one of the claws and twisting, trying to stay in character. But as he did, he felt it—warm, fleshy, *alive*.
This wasn't a suit. This was real.
POV: Director Alan Kessler*
Alan watched in horror as the fight unfolded. It wasn't going according to the script, but no one dared to call cut. Godzilla was… different. The way it moved, the way it reacted—it wasn't Quest in there anymore. At least, not the Quest they knew.
When Jason grabbed Godzilla's claw, Alan saw the panic in his eyes. He knew then that Jason understood. The truth about what Quest had become was impossible to hide now.
But there was no turning back. The cameras were rolling. The government's orders were clear: finish the film.
No matter what.
POV: Jason Brooks*
The fight finally ended when Godzilla slammed into Jason, sending him crashing into the side of a building. Jason lay there, gasping for breath, his body screaming in pain. He could hear the crew rushing over, but no one was going near Godzilla.
Jason's vision blurred as he looked up at the towering form of Godzilla. The eyes that stared down at him were no longer Quest's—they were something else entirely. Something that sent a chill down his spine.
The last thing he remembered before blacking out was the sound of Godzilla's breath, slow and steady, like it was alive.
POV: Unknown Agent*
The agent stood at the edge of the set, watching as the scene unfolded. He made a note in his tablet, his expression unreadable. The experiment was progressing as expected. Quest's fusion with the Godzilla suit had been a success, though there were still variables to monitor.
The introduction of King Kong had been a calculated risk, but it had paid off. The tension, the realism—it would make the film another success.
But the agent wasn't concerned with the film. His focus was on Quest, or rather, what Quest had become.
The world wasn't ready for the truth.
But soon, they wouldn't have a choice.
