A/N: June is here! I loved the excitement for the name, I had been holding onto that for a reallyyyy long time.
I also dropped the name in the author's note of Ch43, but I imagine that is easily missed ;)

Ginny did not go into labour on her due date, or the day after that. She took another exam, to everyone's surprise. Ginny wanted to take part in it as long as she was able to, it would save her time later in the year.

By the second exam she took part in, she was really quite over it. She spent the whole way home curb-walking in the hopes that it would start labour. Harry slowly trailed behind her.

By the time they reached the building, she was completely out of breath and opted for the lift. She stepped in and bent over, leaning her hands on the handrail as it took them up one floor.

Harry stood beside her and gently put pressure on her hips. She moaned in relief, remaining in that position for a moment longer even as the doors slid open. She pushed off and waddled out.

Harry opened the door and she walked straight to the couch, letting out a huff as she sat down. Harry walked to the fridge and brought her an apple juice box.

She looked up in surprise. "How did you know?"

He shrugged and smiled at her.

She took the straw off and put it in. She took a few sips and put the box down on her belly, staring it down.

"What do you want for lunch?" Harry asked.

She didn't look up at him. "A baby."

"Off the street? Grilled? How old?" he replied.

She stilled and slowly turned her head. Both of them looked blankly at each other. She snorted.

"What else?" he asked her grinning.

She took another sip of her juice box. "Something spicy."

None of her attempts to start labour worked, and she was 8 days overdue when she finally, finally felt something. She woke up at night with some cramping. She fell back to sleep but was woken up by what was definitely a contraction. She waited for the pain to subside.

"Harry."

He rolled over immediately. "Gin?"

"I'm pretty sure I just had a contraction," she informed him calmly without turning around to look at him.

He immediately got out of bed, stumbling lightly as he walked to the closet.

"No, no," she objected. "Come here."

He paused and turned to her.

"We have time. Please come over here and cuddle with me until the next one," she asked.

He crawled back into bed and settled behind her. His arm came around her and he pressed a kiss to the back of her neck. He caressed her bump slowly.

She closed her eyes and breathed slowly, focusing on Harry's body against hers.

"I want to apologise in advance for all the mean things I might say to you. I love you," she spoke.

She could feel him chuckle. He shifted his position, leaning on his free hand to look at her face.

"I'm prepared for that," he told her. "I love you too… Did your waters break yet?"

She shook her head. "I don't think so?"

"Good morning," Harry said to the lady behind the counter at the maternity unit, keeping an eye on Ginny. "We are here to have a baby. We called ahead."

The lady looked to Ginny and back. "Name?"

"Ginny Weasley," he said, as Ginny breathed through a contraction beside him.

The lady's eyes flitted across the screen. "Ah, indeed. I see. Your room is ready, let me walk you." She picked a few papers up from a pile and then she gestured to follow her. "Ready to have a baby?" she asked Ginny in a friendly manner.

"Very," Ginny confirmed.

Harry smiled at her and took her hand. The other was holding her bag. They walked into a room.

"Go ahead and get settled. A midwife will come and do the first checks with you in a few minutes."

"Thank you," Ginny said.

"You know," Harry said, leaning on the footboard of the bed. "You have the same expression when you have a contraction as when you're trying to solve a long equation."

She scowled at him. "I'd trade this for a long equation right about now." She let her head drop on the bed. "Can't she just…" She made a sliding motion with her hands.

"I am afraid it goes easier in than out," Harry commented.

Her head snapped back up. "You and your dumb…"—she pressed her lips together—"landed us here."

"I think this is actually a good moment to blame our friends again."

This motivated her at once. She reached for her phone. "I am going to record them a video so they can see my suffering. I'll send it later. And every time they ask me for anything."

"That's the spirit, honey," Harry cheered. "Want me to hold the phone for you?"

She handed it over to Harry.

There was a moment of silence, Ginny's hand tightly squeezing his. Then there was a cry and Harry breathed out in relief, trying to keep the tears from falling. As they handed the baby to Ginny, he got the first proper look at their daughter.

Ginny took the baby in her arms. "Hi, my little baby nugget," she said happily through her tears.

Harry reached out and touched the baby's cheek. "Hi, June." He looked at Ginny and kissed the top of her head. "You did great, Gin. Look at her!"

He could not stop staring, in disbelief how they had made this beautiful perfect little thing. She had red hair, and Ginny's cute little nose. He was a dad now, and a very proud one at that.

Ginny looked up at him, beaming through her tears as she held June tightly. "Can you believe it?"

"No," Harry said. "Not even a little bit."

Ginny's attention turned back to the baby as Ginny held June against her chest. "Believe it or not, we've been waiting for you, June."

Harry couldn't stop taking in her features and her tiny little fingers that were curled up in a fist. "She's so tiny."

"Tell that to my vagina," Ginny retorted.

He snorted and shook his head. "She is a very small human, and I can't believe you squeezed it through there."

Even when they came back to their own room, Harry could not stop looking at his daughter. He couldn't stop looking at either of them. He softly kissed Ginny. "I'm really proud of you."

She shook her head, and her eyes darted up to him. "You were a great help. It really reaffirms what I already know."

"And what's that?" he asked her.

"That you're the one for me," Ginny said casually. "That I wouldn't want to do this with anyone else."

His heart may burst. He squeezed her arm softly. "It's still not the time to propose, right?"

"It really isn't." She winked at him. "Do you want to hold her again?"

He nodded and she shifted the baby in her arms. He carefully lifted June up and put her into his arms, tucking her close to him. He would need to get used to this feeling. He adjusted her hat carefully.

"Doing great there, dad," Ginny said.

And he smiled dumbly at that. "I'm trying." He looked up at her. "How is your pain?"

"Getting better," she said with a nod. "You should call the very proud grandparents."

He nodded. "As soon as she's back in your arms. Give me a few more minutes."

"Okay." She smiled at him. "I have another conspiracy theory for you."

"Right now?" Harry shot her an incredulous look.

Ginny nodded without hesitation. "They say to figure out if you're having a girl or a boy, you need to put your wedding ring on a thread. If it goes side to side it's a girl, if it goes in circles it's a boy. If you don't have a ring, it's the devil's spawn."

"Have you been holding onto that one for a while?" Harry asked, handing June back to Ginny.

She grimaced. "I may have."

"Right." This should not have surprised him. "Well, I don't think it counts as a full conspiracy theory—."

"No, we decided certain superstitions can count if it involves reference to a religion," Ginny argued back.

Harry had to let her have it. He only had a vague memory of the discussion, but he could agree with about anything she would say right now. "Fine. You get four points. One for the theory. Two for being thematically appropriate for the situation. One for being funny. And an additional point for having a baby."

"Well, that was never set up in the rules initially," Ginny argued, as if she liked to play fair.

"If you had known that we'd have a baby together, you would have insisted on putting it in," Harry said.

Ginny chuckled softly. "And you would have let me because sixteen-year-old you wouldn't have believed it."

"Correct again." Harry looked at June. "She doesn't look like the devil's spawn."

"God, she's the cutest baby I've ever seen. Is that because it's ours?" Ginny asked with a glance at him.

Harry looked back up at Ginny. "She's the cutest because she looks like you."

Ginny met his eyes, smiling. "Points to you for being charming."

"I'm afraid we've derailed the game," Harry said as he stood up and returned June to her mother's arms. "Right, phone calls." He took up his phone and called Molly first.

"Hello?" Molly said.

"Hi, it's Harry," he said, unable to help the wide smile on his face. "You are now the, presumably proud, grandmother of one June Potter."

"Is she here!?" Molly asked excitedly. "How did it go? How is Ginny?"

Harry looked over at Ginny. "Ginny is alright, she's resting and holding the baby. It took a good few hours but there were no complications or anything, so that's a relief. Will you tell Grandpa Arthur?"

"Yes, he'll be home any minute. Oh, I am so glad she is here! I can't wait to meet her!" she continued. "Congratulations to you both."

Harry slowly wrapped up the call. Then he called his dad.

"You have been suspiciously quiet all day… so…?" James said.

Harry chuckled. "What's up, grandpa?"

James breathed out. "You better not be joking."

"I am not," he reassured. Suddenly he found his voice shaking. "Our daughter was born earlier today. Her name is June." Tears welled up again. "Ginny and June are both doing great and are resting up."

"Oh, that is lovely to hear," James said. "Lily! Get over here, you grandma!"

Harry could hear the sound of her footsteps quickly coming closer.

"It's Harry," James said and then the phone was handed over.

"Hi, mum. Your granddaughter has arrived," he told her.

"Has she? What's her name? Did everything go well? How is Ginny? What's the baby's hair colour? And her eye colour? When can we meet her?"

"Mum! Slow down," he told her. "I haven't slept in over a day. Her name is June. Ginny is… laughing at me apparently—she's great. You have a redhead granddaughter. I think her eyes are blue, I'm not sure who she got that from."

Lily chuckled. "A lot of babies are born with blue eyes before it changes. June… I love that name."

"I'm glad to hear it," he said. "Visiting hours are after three so I'd love for you to meet her today still. I think Ginny's parents will come around 4."

"We'll come by later today," James spoke again. "Congratulations, Harry. You're a dad now."

He smiled and looked back over at Ginny. "That is still sinking in, somehow."

"It'll come," James assured him.

There was a knock on the door, and then Ron popped his head in. Harry stood up and walked to him, excited that Ron was the first to meet June.

He hugged Harry tightly. "Congratulations."

Ginny waved him over. "Are you coming to meet your goddaughter?"

Ron nodded with a wide smile and walked up to her. Harry followed him and showed him to the baby bed that stood right next to Ginny. Ron put down the bag he had brought.

"This is June," Ginny announced.

"Wow," Ron said. "This is unbelievable."

Harry smiled softly. "I know, right?"

Ron nodded quietly, looking at his niece for a moment longer before he looked up at Ginny. "How are you feeling?"

"Alright," she said. "Tired, and in pain but I've had worse."

Harry gazed at her. "She did splendidly. Even the midwives said so."

"They say that to everyone, Harry."

"No." Harry frowned at her. "I don't think they do." He looked back at Ron. "Do you want to hold her?"

Ron looked worriedly at the baby. "What if I drop her?"

"You won't," Ginny said. "Besides, Harry got all the dad reflexes built in. He won't let that happen." With a grin, she winked at him.

Harry picked June up from the bed and carefully placed her in Ron's arms. He held his hands below her for a moment until he was sure Ron had her.

"There is still something weird about you two having a kid together, I hope you know that," Ron said. "I do dare say she's adorable."

"Yes, she is the cutest thing I ever laid my eyes on," Harry said.

Ron looked up in amusement. "Has he been like that the whole time?" he asked Ginny.

"Yes," she confirmed in a chipper tone. "He cried more than me."

Harry nodded. "I did."

"There is a gift in the bag—well, two actually."

Harry bent down and took out the card. It said congratulations from him and Hermione and that they had contributed to something from the registry. He looked into the bag and saw a pack of condoms.

His head snapped up. "You're lucky you're holding June, bastard."

"What did he give?" Ginny asked.

Harry plucked the pack out and showed her.

"No worries," Ginny said. "Harry is getting nowhere near there any time soon."

Harry let the condoms drop in the bag again. "Thanks for thinking of us," Harry said with sarcasm.

Ron smiled innocently at him.

After Ron left, Harry joined on the bed with Ginny as she fed the baby.

"You're a good mum."

She didn't look up at him. "We'll see."

"No, I know you are," Harry told her. "You're doing great."

Her eyes darted up to him. "You think so?"

He nodded without hesitation. "Definitely."

"I just love her so much, and I feel like I'm second-guessing everything I've read and thought about…" She sighed softly. "It's scary."

He pressed a kiss against her hair. "We can do things scared. And she will be okay."

Ginny's expression softened. "Alright." She looked back up at Harry. "I think she has your chin."

He tilted his head. "Does she?"

"Yeah," Ginny replied. She smiled widely. "But that's definitely my nose. That's not daddy's nose, right, June? You have mum's nose, and hair. As you should."

Harry silently looked at the two of them.

The grandparents all ended up coming by at the same time. Harry and Ginny could hear their loud chatter in the hallway before they even made it to the door. Harry handed June to Ginny and walked up to the door to greet them.

All of them hugged him as they came in and then walked up to Ginny.

James paused by the door. "We're heavily outnumbered by redheads now."

"Yeah, that's for sure," Harry said with a chuckle.

"Ah, well." James shrugged. "We'll see next time." He walked into the room too.

Harry closed the door. "Next time?" he asked, but was ignored.

Ginny turned June so they could see her well. "Here she is."

"Aw!" all the grandparents went.

Lily's face was full of emotion. "Look at her," she sniffed.

"As accidents go, this is the cutest one I've ever seen," James commented.

Lily gasped. "James!"

"What? That was not a secret, was it?" he defended himself.

"Your eyes were just like that when you were born, Harry," Lily pointed out. "I bet they'll turn green in a few months."

Ginny looked over at her mum. "You can hold her first, if you'd like?"

Molly nodded eagerly. She scooped the baby in her arms easily. "She looks a lot like you, Ginny, when you were a baby. Doesn't she, Arthur?"

Arthur looked over her shoulder. "She does." He looked at Ginny. "It's derived from your name?"

Ginny nodded. "Yes. I know I complain about being named 'Ginevra' but I do like that it's connected. We had a few more names in the running, but the others didn't really have a meaning, so this felt right."

"Did the birth go okay?" Lily asked.

Ginny looked over at Harry.

"She said she couldn't do it, squeezed my hands to bits and I was blessed with the most colourful insults known to man." He grinned at her. "But in the end, it was okay."

"It went smoothly, I suppose. There were no complications—it just felt like an eternity."

Her mum smiled at her. "That's normal with the first one or two."

"Well, now that our families know, I guess it's time to tell our friends," Harry said.

Ginny nodded. "Did your grandparents ever answer?"

"No," Harry told them. "It's fine, I don't want to deal with them if they don't approve."

"It sucks, but it is what it is," Ginny told him. "I'll text the high school friends and you text the group chat?"

Harry nodded. "Alright."

The ride home had been stressful, Ginny sat beside June in the backseat without taking an eye off her. Being let out of the hospital with a baby and completely no supervision still felt odd.

As they went up with the lift, Ginny wrapped a hand around Harry's arm, staring down at the carrier together. She couldn't look away from June.

The lift pinged and they stepped out. Ginny fumbled for the keys and opened the door. They walked inside together and Harry put the carrier down along with the bags.

Harry knelt down and took the clips off, lifting June out of the carrier and tucking her against his chest.

"Welcome home," Ginny said softly.

She kissed the top of June's head and then walked over to the fridge. It was stocked up with food completely, along with the freezer. "I think we have food until next winter."

"Mum said they couldn't agree on who was going to fill the fridge and both your mum and my dad got a little carried away. Can't complain." Harry walked off to the couch with June.

Ginny closed the fridge again and walked up to them. She joined them on the couch. "I could look at that face forever," she sighed happily, leaning against Harry's shoulder.

Harry smiled softly. "This is pretty great, the quiet moments."

"Yeah," she agreed. She carded her fingers through the back of his hair.

Harry freed up one of his hands and squeezed her leg. "I love you. I'm so grateful it's you I get to be a family with."

She lifted her head up to look at him. "You call us a family?"

"Yeah. We're no longer Harry and Ginny. We're mum and dad, at least to her." He nodded towards June.

"Hm. Family," she said quietly. "I like that."

"Me too," Harry responded.

She kissed him softly and then returned her gaze to the baby. She caressed her thumb along June's cheek. "We should unpack."

"I'll unpack. You just sit tight."

She didn't object and nodded. She held her hands out for June and Harry carefully handed her over.

"How is your pain?" he asked her.

She shrugged. "Pretty okay. I got her."

Harry stood up and walked over to the bags. "Shout if—"

"I need anything?" she teased with an amused grin.

His head snapped up. "Fine, don't shout. It's not like I care."

Ginny chuckled as Harry carried one bag into their room. He came back for the second bag and paused to look over at them.

"Look at you not caring."

He dramatically grabbed the second bag and walked off. Ginny leaned back on the couch with June against her.

Harry and Ginny walked into the registry office together excitedly. They went up to the counter. Harry picked June up out of the carrier and held her against him so he could easily keep an eye on her.

"We're here to register our baby," Ginny spoke.

The woman behind the counter looked between them a bit judgingly. She looked at her computer and spoke in a tired voice. "Please hand over your IDs, documents from the hospital and proof of address."

Ginny handed over the documents and the lady took them and typed into her computer.

"Name of the baby?" she asked.

"June Potter," Ginny said.

"Middle names?" Her eyes were focused on the screen.

"No."

The lady looked up in surprise at her. "Okay." She took the IDs and her eyebrows raised. "You're older than I thought."

Harry gave a pointed look at Ginny. "Employee of the year, you think?" he mumbled softly.

She snorted softly before focusing on the lady. They waited for a minute as she put the information into the computer.

"Married?" she asked.

"No, but we live together," Harry replied.

She nodded. Her eyes shifted to Ginny. "In that case, do you confirm Mr Potter officially as the father?"

"Yes," Ginny replied happily; not that the lady would understand why.

"Any of you two have a job?" she asked, expecting a no, it seemed.

Harry took a small business card out of his pocket and handed it to her. It only had a code on it. She typed it into the computer and her eyes widened and she slowly looked back at him. He smiled awkwardly. Her eyes turned back to the screen, and she typed for a moment. She clicked a few times and then the printer beside her whirred.

The paper came out, she grabbed it and put it in front of them. "Please check all the information and sign on the line below with your name and the date of today."

They both looked over the document and confirmed all was correct.

Ginny's eyebrows raised. "I can't believe your job says 'classified'." She shook her head.

"At least I have a job," he teased.

She took up the pen and signed. Harry handed June over to Ginny and then signed too. He handed the paper back to the lady.

"The birth certificate will be ready in just a moment," she informed Harry, slightly more polite than before and walked off.

Harry turned to Ginny. She rolled her eyes.

"What does that card lead to?" she said asked

"It opens a registry where they can see our function. Only a limited number of people with access can see. I guess she didn't expect that," he said with a shrug.

Ginny stood closer. "No, she thought you were a jobless college dude who accidentally knocked up a teenager when we walked in," she said in a hushed tone.

"Luckily less than half of that is true," he said with a grin.
