Pocket Monsters: Known more commonly as Pokémon, these magical creatures are found throughout the world in such diversity that they have been compared to animals.
Research is constantly done regarding these fascinating parts of everyday life. Among other things, it's been found that Pokémon feel emotion and have temperaments.
Some, such as Popplio and Sprigatito, are generally quite friendly and loyal, only attacking in self-defense or when especially hungry. Others, on the other hand...
"Kwaru... We're not even close to a city yet. Why'd you eat all the bread?"
"quack"
...are quite temperamental and chaotic, such as Ducklett. Unfortunately, Hogoki got a particularly chaotic version of the latter.
It's been attacking him, any nearby food, and random trees for no particular reason. All. Day.
The guy who writes the script is too lazy to make this chapter a proper story, so have a montage of hilarity instead.

"We just ate... How can you eat so much fruit?" The duck used twigs to mimic chopsticks and began to violently mime eating rice. "I don't eat THAT much..."
Then Kwaru suddenly swooped down from the tree and used the surprise factor to pull Hogoki to the ground by the hair, and into a nearby lake.
The confused and annoyed trainer got out drenched to a hysterically laughing duck.
"...This is gonna be a journey, alright."
Foccai slapped Kwaru who frowned and quacked sulkily at the seal.
...
Training. A pastime of trainers. Often involves things being trained. The trainers tend to train the things being trained during training.
Look, I needed to increase the word count here.
We have a seal, duck, and human. The human and seal are watching the duck, the human crouching a little.
"I know you can peck and dive at things. You're a water type, right? Is there anything else you can d-" That feeling when your duck blasts you in the face with water. "...Don't make me the target... Water Gun, huh? Is that everything?" Considering Kwaru then slapped a surprised Foccai into a rock, no. "...Good use of Wing Attack."
Quack. Foccai is in for a time too, it seems.
...
Pokémon are often found in tall grass. They like hiding in it due to the ability to be safe from harm and prepare for ambush from it.
Hogoki and his party had encountered one such Pokémon again. A Magnemite, specifically. Since Foccai was too tired from earlier fights, he chose Kwaru. The Ducklett seemed like a strong fighter, so things would be fine, right?
Well, it didn't work out.
The duck panicked and flew in the opposite direction, leaving a frantic boy and seal trying to follow.
Eventually, they found him shaking at the base of a tree. They simply stayed with Kwaru until everyone was ready to continue on again.
...
"...This isn't Saffron? The sign says Vermilion City..." Facepalming with wing and flipper alike.
At least they'd arrived somewhere.
