The Minecraft Story: The Beginning: Chapter 51
"NOTCH!" Marcus screamed.
"Marcus watch out!" Franz yelled.
Marcus turned to see a hoglin coming his way. Franz shot an arrow into its eye, but it persisted. Marcus jumped out of the way right before it could trample him. Before the hoglin could turn around, Marcus stabbed the neck. It squealed in pain as it died.
"Hey!" Franz yelled while putting a hand on Marcus's shoulder. The contact made Marcus jump before he saw his brother. "What the hell happened?"
"Notch just got thrown over the wall! The zombie is up!" Marcus answered.
Some knights had tried to attack the mutant zombie after it had thrown Notch. Marcus watched in horror as they were punted, ripped apart, and crushed.
"We need to get to help them!" Marcus yelled, "Hurry, lets go!"
Franz looked toward the giant mutant zombie. The monster he had faced in the valley. The monster he'd narrowly escaped. He shaked at the thought of fighting it again, but he believed in his little brother.
Franz turned back toward Marcus, "I'm right behind you!"
Marcus smiled, "Launch the signal."
Franz grabbed a firework arrow from his back and loaded it into his bow. It flew straight and true into the air. Everyone turned as the blue flames streaked across the sky, even the mutant zombie looked up.
"EVERYONE!" Marcus called out, "ATTACK THE ZOMBIE! DO NOT LET HIM REACH THE GATE! CHARGE!"
By now, most of the surviving piglins had been killed and several knights began running alongside Marcus and Franz. The soldiers roared as they sprinted towards the monster. The battlefield had been filled with the death cries of piglins. Now it was filled with the war cries of the humans.
As they charged, the gates opened. Lt. Daegal and his cavalry all came charging out on horseback. They carried torches which reflected off their armor. Each one was ready to burn the mutant zombie to ash. The war cries of the soldiers were conjoined with the sounds of galloping horses, creating a charging symphony of death.
I hope burning this thing works. Marcus thought. If it doesn't, we might be doomed. Notch was our best bet at taking out the mutant zombie. We didn't think we'd need to enact this backup plan. Hopefully Notch is okay. Hopefully, we need to at least stall it long enough for him to get back in the fight. Oh god, what if Herobrine shows up. Enough, one monster at a time.
"KEEP GOING!" Marcus screamed. "REMEMBER, YOU'RE NOT JUST FIGHTING FOR REDWATER! YOU'RE FIGHTING FOR HUMANITY! FOR THE FUTURE OF YOUR FAMILIES, FIGHT!"
The soldiers roared again as the mutant zombie got closer. It looked from side to side. However, it didn't seem perplexed by the situation. It seemed as if it had seen this exact attack before.
The mutant zombie suddenly ran to the right and grabbed a tree. It took a second, but it was yanked from the ground.
"Shit," Marcus said under his breath.
CRASH!
It swung the tree branch at the oncoming soldiers. Some managed to duck, but a dozen men were sent flying into the air.
"Get down!" Franz yelled as he tackled Marcus to the ground, narrowly avoiding the second swing which took out a dozen more.
"Throw the fire now!" Lt. Daegal screamed. A volley of torches were thrown towards the mutant zombie. They arched in the sky as they plummeted down. The fire instantly caught the leaves of the tree which burst into flames. Some parts of the zombie like its right arm and leg caught on fire as well.
However, it didn't seem fazed. It swung the fiery tree towards the riders. Soldiers were flung into the air, but more were caught on fire as the swinging caused the flames to shoot outward towards them.
They screamed in agony as their bodies slowly melted. The soldiers who hadn't been set on fire desperately tried to put out their comrades; which put them in a perfect position for another swing.
Marcus couldn't believe his eyes. Their torches had completely backfired. However, he noticed the mutant zombie was starting to lose steam as more fire engulfed its body.
Franz tried shooting it in the neck, but to no avail. Marcus ran for the mutant zombie. The heat from the fire already felt like it was burning him. There was so much smoke, he could barely breathe. But there wasn't any time to think about himself.
He looked up as one of Franz's arrows almost punctured its eye. It roared in the direction of Franz and pulled back the tree, ready to throw it.
Fuck! Marcus thought. It's now or never!
He saw the back of its right knee. It hadn't been engulfed yet. The perfect spot. The diamond sword cut through the flesh like it was paper. The cut was deep enough for Marcus to see the bones inside.
The mutant zombie fell to its knees, dropping the tree before it could throw it. Marcus wondered if he could climb up the zombie. Although, he knew it would be a death sentence with most of its body still on fire.
RRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR!
The mutant zombie's scream caused Marcus to cover his ears as his whole body vibrated. His insides shook to the point where he threw up on the battlefield.
Damn monster. Marcus thought. Scream all you want, it won't stop me from slicing your throat open!
Marcus was about to climb the beast when suddenly it got up, fast. It stood up and towered over Marcus. He braced himself to be swatted at, but to his surprise. It turned away from him and picked the tree back up.
What? He thought. How is it already up, I cut its goddamn knee ope…wait.
He could see the cut on the back of the knee, except, it wasn't nearly as deep as when he'd cut it. Most of it was already sealed up.
No way. How is that possible? He thought.
Marcus looked closer and could see parts of the skin growing back.
It can regenerate? He thought. Could it always do that or did Herobrine upgrade it? No matter, I'll just cut it again.
BOOM!
The mutant zombie crushed the ground with a giant step back, causing the earth to shake under Marcus. He fell to the ground, only looking up in time to see the beast throw the tree at the gate.
CRASH!
The tree smashed the gates down and they were quickly engulfed by the flames.
FUCK! Marcus thought.
The mutant zombie then turned to the river and began to sprint towards it.
No..no…no…NO! NO FUCKING WAY! He thought.
"FRANZ! LETS GO!" Marcus yelled.
"I'm on it!" Franz yelled back.
As Marcus and Franz began running, Marucus's eyes caught something on the ground. Buried in dirt and fire was a hint of blue. Diamond blue. He looked closer and saw the burnt body of Lt. Daegal lying on the ground.
"That thing is going to die tonight!" Marcus screamed.
…
Where am I? Notch looked around. I didn't die? He was laying on a bed. He couldn't see out of his left eye. He went to touch it and found a piece of cloth wrapped around his head.
"No, please don't touch the bandage," The voice of a young woman called out to him, "I'm sorry, but it's part of my dress. It was all I had, I'm sorry, Notch."
Notch sat up. He could barely make out the shattered window at the end of the room. A small hand gently pushed him back down.
"Please don't strain yourself," said the woman, "You were just launched through my window, be careful. All of your armor was shattered and stabbing into you, so I took it off you, sorry."
"It's okay, thank you for helping me. And I'm sorry for breaking your window," Notch laughed.
"It's perfectly fine, I did manage to get your cape and your sword for you," said the woman as she held out the sheathed sword and red cape.
"Thank you…for the cape, the sword, and your help," said Notch while grabbing his things, "but I must be going now. There are people who need me."
