This chapter will most likely be shorter than the others since it's an Iris and Barry centric episode and much like how What If Universe didn't have Peter go into the Speedforce in his story, Peter's not going into the Still Force.
Special thanks to What If Universe for referencing
Guest review ch.1: Probably does seem weird. Might help if you've read What if Universe's stories, especially "Flash and Spider-Man: Book 2 of The Spider-verse," as well as "What If…?: Moments," "Secret Wars: Battleworld," and my story that I wrote, that this story is a sequel to, "Four Peters Vs. The Sinister Six." The reason for everything going on will be explained, but as Frost's soul just discovered, the universe has been changed by either a magical artifact or a deal with a demon.
Guest review of ch. 6: Peter's origin is based on the origin that What If Universe wrote for his fictional universe, the first Sam Raimi Spider-Man film. It's not that Uncle Ben wanted Peter to get tormented by Flash Thompson, he's just disappointed that he used violence. Peter didn't kill Ben, the mugger did. Peter blames himself for not being there. Of course it's not his fault but he has a guilt complex. Ben never knew that Peter had powers when he was alive. But most versions, he's talking about staying in school and helping him and Aunt May and his school work is a path to getting a good job, so Ben would want him to stay in school. He was worried that Peter would get a taste for violence and become a bully, himself. This version of Peter has at one point owned a company that has most likely made products that help people. Also, they were trying to cure Ronnie and Peter did help with the Quantum Splicer and that took his science knowledge to do.
Guest review of ch. 7: well, as you probably read in character 8 and saw in the show, it turned Frost into the anti-Deathstorm.

Chapter 10
A few days after Frost's funeral. Peter went to work at S.T.A.R. Labs in the cortex, where Chester gives him and Cecile to-go cups of coffee each.
"Thank you for the company, Cecile and Peter." Chester said as he handed them their coffee.
"Any time." She replies.
"No problem." Peter replies. Though as much as he enjoys their company, he still misses his family and hopes Constantine will reply back soon. "Though, Cecile, isn't now your usual business hours for your law practice?"
"It is, but I'm avoiding a new-meta client. So I figured I'd get out of the office, come over to see what Team Flash is up to."
"If you don't want them as a client, you can drop them, you know."
"No, I do want the client, but I just needed a break."
"Well, we're all good here." Chester tells her. "Yeah, the town is quiet, no alerts, no crisis."
"Considering the last one for me was less than a year ago, is a good thing. Even if it was enjoyable to meet doppelgängers with different love interests." Peter told them.
"Yeah, nothing but sweet, sweet, silen-" Chester was about to say while clinking his coffee cup with theirs, but was interrupted by Barry speeding in and speed checking the monitors in a panic.
"Barry, what's wrong?" Cecile asked in concern.
"Yeah, should we be worried?"
"It's Iris. She's missing." Barry replied after confirming that the monitors couldn't find her either.
Peter wanted to smile and pump his fist in joy, but that would have been rude. As much as he disliked Iris, she was still a human who may be in need of rescuing and he has saved people he's disliked in the past. After all, if can save Jameson from Scorpion or the Mad Bomber, he'll help Barry save Iris. But it was still times like this that he hated Uncle Ben's infamous phrase.
Chester double checks the monitors and comes to the same conclusion.
"Satellites aren't picking up Iris up anywhere in the city. I'm gonna expand the physical search radius." Chester tells him.
"Cecile, anything?" Barry asked her, as she was using her powers to try and find her in the city.
"Nothing." She replies. "I can't sense her either, and I've reached out across a five-state radius."
"Really? That's impressive." Peter stated. Barry looked at him a little pissed at that remark. "Sorry."
"Bottom line, it's like Iris' mind has just vanished."
"Same here, only worse." Chester told them. "Barry, Iris isn't registering anywhere on the planet. How's that even possible?"
"You don't suppose she went to my timeline, like a late swap or something?" Peter pointed out.
"If that's the case, we can't wait for Constantine for help." Barry said impatiently.
It's here that Peter realized that he needed to help Barry. If Iris died, he needed to help him move on and prevent him from becoming the super obsessed version from the timeline where Savitar succeeded. Maybe this was always meant to happen. Maybe Peter was sent to help reunite Barry with Patty, so he could move on from Iris. Hell, maybe he was supposed to be with Felicity in this universe.
"But I think this is because of her time sickness. It's just like last time, she's not here anymore, at least not in this plane of existence." Barry stated. "She must have had another attack. Now she's lost in time."
"Okay, well, then we need Deon to find her." Cecile stated.
"No one's seen Deon since he disappeared, and I can't access the Still Force without him."
"Okay, so…so what do we do?" Chester asked.
"Okay, okay, it's actually long shot, but…look when Iris was in Coast City, it wasn't just her time sickness that caused her to vanish. Tinya Wazzo's powers did too." Cecile pointed out.
Barry nods in agreement and then speeds away to find Tinya.
The team (minus Caitlin and Iris, of course) later meet in the lounge. Barry found Tinya at a Jitters in Coast City. But due to what happened to her when Iris met her, she can't help and more importantly, has a grudge against her and doesn't want to help. Fortunately for Barry, he does find Deon, who tells him that Iris is trapped in the Still Force, but needs his help and a gadget called the "Isotopic sensor."
"This is how we get Iris back." Barry said after telling them what happened in Coast City.
"So you're saying that Deon wants to do that by bringing you into the Still Force?" Joe asked.
"Well, both of us, together."
"I thought he said it was too dangerous for anyone to go in there who wasn't, you know, a god?" Allerga asked.
"It's risky, but I trust Deon, and he wouldn't suggest this if there wasn't any other way."
"I hope you know what you're doing." Peter told him.
"I do. I'm gonna need you to watch Central City for me while I'm home."
"Of course, Barry." Peter replied reassuringly.
"Well, Deon's right about one thing. Our satellites can't trace isotopic particles across other planes of existence." Chester told him.
"That's why we need you and Peter to repair the sensor." Barry told them. "It's the only thing that can locate Iris' temporal particle inside the Still Force. But once we find her, we bring her home."
"Amen to that." Cecile replied, trying to comfort Barry and Joe.
"Not to question a God," Joe began to say.
"What does God need with a starship?" Peter jokingly quoted in his mind. He would have loved to have said that out loud. But it wouldn't have been the appropriate time and place. He also realized that Cisco may have had more of an influence on him than he realized.
"But why would Deon need help tracking a particle that he created?" Joe asked them.
"Deon's not at full strength. Iris' time sickness has affected him too." Barry explained, much to the shock of the team and the confusion of Peter. "Uh, Chester, how long will it take you and Peter to get the sensor running?" He then asked them.
"Uh, 45 minutes, maybe less." Chester replies.
"Barry, how exactly are you gonna get inside the Still Force in the first place?" Peter asked.
"Deon's gonna come for me as soon as he can, and we need to be ready when he does." Barry replied.
"And you went over this plan with the other forces? Nora, Bashir, Alexa, they're all on board too?" Joe asked, still suspicious of the whole situation.
Peter could see what Joe was getting at. Barry's "love" for Iris could blind him to a lot of things around him, such as Frost becoming a villain who worked for Savitar. But Peter was recently guilty of the same, his friend love with Ronnie blinded him from realizing he was helping Deathstorm come to this world, leading to Frost's death.
"Uh, no, I haven't been able to contact them…any of them." Barry replied, which added to Joe's suspicion.
"And Iris' sickness, it could have spread to them already." Cecile realizes.
"Which would explain why they've been radio silent." Chester theorized.
"If that is the case, then maybe we should all slow down and figure it out before we launch you into a place we know nothing about, Barry." Joe argued.
"There's no time. Look, Joe, Deon is our only chance at finding Iris. If he says going into the Still Force is the answer, then I believe him." Barry replied. "I-I'm gonna get the sensor from the Starchives. I'll meet you two in the workshop." Barry then told Chester and Peter before leaving the room.
Later, In the workshop, Peter and Chester are working on the final touches to the Isotopic sensor, when Chester's phone rings.
"Parliament Runkadelic-" He answered, trying (and to Peter, failing to the point of embarrassment) to sound cool.
"It's Captain Kramer." Replied Kristen Kramer on the other end of the phone call.
"Uh, yes-yes, ma'am." He replied in a more serious, adult like manner. He even clears his throat, hoping to deceive her that his "cool" into was cough or something. "How can I help?"
"Chester, I need a full analysis on an unknown device we found at a crime scene. You're not busy, uh, saving the world, are you?"
"No-no, Captain, your timing is perfect. Barry's gone to where no man has been before, so I'm free to fly solo."
"Great, thanks, I'll see you soon." She says before hanging up.
"Oh, you heard it, Chester P., the crime-fighting world needs your mojo!" He says to himself and then repeats like a crowd cheering. "Mojo. Mojo."
"Ahem." Peter says. "Did you forget that I was here too?"
"Sorry, I'm too used to having this lab to myself."
"Ok, what was with how you answered the phone?"
"Trying to be cool."
""Do, or do not-"" Peter then said in his best Yoda impression.
""There is no try"" Chester and Peter both say together with Yoda impressions before laughing.
"You mind finishing while I go help at C.C.P.D.?" Chester asked.
"Sure. Should be good in another minute or two." Peter replied.
"Okay, see you later." Chester replied before leaving.
For the next few minutes, Peter finished the Isotopic sensor. As he leaves the lab to hand it to Barry, he runs into Joe .
"Is that the device that's gonna help Barry find Iris in the Still Force?" He asked.
"Yeah." Peter replied.
"What do you think about this whole situation?"
"I think something's rotten in the state of Denmark." Peter admitted. "Granted, I don't have the same experience you all have had with Deon. But I do have other thoughts. Is it alright if I'm blunt?"
Joe sighs. "Probably have to hear it at some point, why not now?"
"Barry can be blinded to others around him and focused only on Iris, even in my timeline, Pre-Crisis. But not just of his friends. Like when he went to the future and saw her death and he ignored helping Caitlin with accepting Frost. He thought he shouldn't catch any criminals thinking that changing the future headlines like that would change Iris' fate. I don't feel that he loves her, but is obsessed with her, mostly due to how kind she was after his mother's death. Hell, in the future he visited where Iris died, not only hadn't he moved on, but cut off all contact from his friends. But then again, that was my timeline, they could be happier and in love here."
"As much as I love that they make each other happy, you do have a point about how obsessive Barry can be about Iris. He even said that he should have been trying to cure her all this time."
"Seriously? We just came from defeating Deathstorm and mourning Frost!" Peter says, a little exasperated. "Sometimes I wonder if I was brought here to help you guys. When we thought that the black fire was Ronnie, I thought I had to save him. Now with Iris gone and if something should happen (not that I wish anything bad to happen to her), I wonder if I should help Barry move on, let him know that he can love again."
"I'd rather not think about something happening to my baby girl…but you're right. We can't ignore that something could happen. I just wish Barry was more cautious with Deon."
"Me too. I'd argue with him about it, but if you couldn't change his mind, I doubt that I could."
While Deon took Barry into the Still Force, Chester met with Captain Kramer and made a discovery.
"Oh my God, I'm a Super Villain!" Chester exclaimed.
"Seriously? That's what you're worried about?" Allegra asked, believing Chester is overreacting. "Okay, then where's your meta hunting dagger or your purple head fan?" She joked.
"No, no, I'm-I'm serious, okay? I'm the bad guy in all of this."
"What do you mean?" Peter asked him.
"The microchip that I found inside that thing was hardwired with a one-of-a-kind energy converter that I created."
"Oh, I see where you're getting at."
"Chuck, you didn't build this one." Allegra told him, now trying to ease his guilt.
"So-so what?! I still went live with the designs on my blog last month." Chester told her.
"What is this anyway?"
"It's a quantum coil transformer, which means it's extremely powerful and dangerous if used for the wrong application. The police found this at a destroyed halfway house and they said it's responsible!" Chester explained. "You know what, you both were right a few weeks ago. You both were ri-I never should have put my designs online." He says before turning to his monitor, which was currently streaming. "I never will again." He then takes the webcam off the monitor, disconnecting it. He then sits at his desk, sighing at the mess he feels that he made.
"Chuck, you're overreacting."
"I should have vetted my online posse."
"Your posse could be anyone, but, Chuck, you inspire people. You didn't send them to the dark side. Think about it. You said there were no casualties because that person built this evacuated the place before it detonated. Does that sound like a supervillain? Or his accomplice?
"No, but-"
"Then believe us when we tell you, we're missing the real story."
"Chester, like I told you last time, I helped a scientist I respected with a formula that would have given humans regenerative cells or fast healing like me and Barry. But it turned that scientist into a Lizard creature who wanted to turn the rest of us into Lizard creatures. Hell, a few weeks ago, I thought I was bringing back the doppelgänger of my best friend, only for him to be a fire demon who killed people, including Frost. Cisco created the Cold and Gold guns for the Smart siblings. Harry Wells on Earth-2 built his Particle Accelerator for the advancement of science, unlike Eobard Thawne. Even Barry tried to save his mom seven years ago and let Eobard Thawne escape, but that created several domino effects, like Eddie's death, bringing Zoom here and that led to his dad's death, and it caused Ronnie to become Deathstorm, which led to Frost's death." Peter told him to ease his mind. "The point is, I don't consider myself a villain for inadvertently helping The Lizard and Deathstorm, same for Cisco, Harry for accidentally creating Zoom and his army, or Barry. You're not a villain either. Science has been used for both good and evil purposes in history and the scientists themselves are not evil, except the one that intentionally were."
"Peter's right, though that last bit might not have fully helped. You're one of the good ones. Have a little faith in yourself." Allegra said before Chester reached out and held her hand as thank you for her kind words.
Peter felt like he was in the middle of a private moment and left without either of them noticing.
A few hours later, Peter decides to do some training in the Speed lab, practicing martial arts moves he's learned from Oliver, Colleen Wing, and Danny Rand on a Wing-Chung dummy. After a few minutes Barry and Nora West-Allen (Barry and Iris' daughter from 2049 and superhero, XS) appear out of nowhere in front of him. The two look happy to be out of there.
"Nora?" Peter said in surprise, having not seen the young woman since she inadvertently sped up the Crisis.
"Hey, Uncle Peter!" She said with joy.
"You know me?"
"Yeah, but I can't tell you why. You and dad have warned me about too much future knowledge, especially by this point in your life."
"Probably for the best."
It turned out that Deon trapped not only Barry in the Still Force, but also Nora. The two speedsters tell Peter, Joe, and Cecile what happened in the lounge.
"Wait, so you're telling me that you were able to get out of there 'cause you already knew you had?" Joe asked for clarification.
"I know, it's totally surreal, right?" Nora replied.
""Totally!"" Peter replied in a 90s surfer dude impression, which Nora chuckled at.
"Barry, is there still a spark of the Still Force inside of you, because if that's the case, then maybe we can use that to help Iris." Cecile pointed out.
"Not anymore." Barry replied solemnly. "I tried to tap into it again as soon as we got back, and I must have used every bit I had to get us out of there. We'll have to find Iris another way."
"And we will." Joe replied, reassuringly.
"You know, guys, there's one thing that I still didn't quite get. Barry, why would Deon want to trap you in the past?" Cecile asked.
"Yeah, I don't know. I'm really worried about him." Barry replied.
"I'd better get back to 2049, make sure Mom's still there and that she's okay." Nora told them before she started to hug everyone. "I'm gonna miss you guys so much."
"We're gonna miss you too."
"Sweet one." Joe called her before giving her a hug.
"But you're right, we need you there to keep your family's future safe."
She then hugs Cecile and then turns to Peter.
"Gonna miss you too Uncle Peter." She before hugging him.
"Um, okay." He said a bit awkwardly.
It was certainly odd for him. Nora in his timeline and Pre-Crisis still worked with the Reverse Flash, even after discovering what happened to her namesake. Then again, it was in part because of her that the Crisis happened early and that Barry was with Patty and the other universes made because of her. One could argue that she inadvertently caused Oliver's death, but like he told Chester earlier, doing something inadvertently doesn't make one a villain. On the other hand, she's the daughter of Iris. So basically, his relationship with Nora was messy.
"Bye." Nora then said to them before speeding out of the room and time period.
Joe sighs, a little depressed. "I miss her and Bart more every day."
"Yeah." Barry replied, a little depressed that he just said goodbye to his daughter and that he wasn't successful in saving his wife.
"And my baby girl." Joe said sadly.
"Joe, about earlier, I should have listened to you. You know, you were right about everything."
"It's okay, we all stumble. I'm just glad you picked yourself up."
"A friend of mine had a saying, "Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up."" Peter told them.
"Whoever it was was right. Just because we make mistakes, doesn't mean we stop. We keep moving forward."
"Look, there's-there's something else." Barry then started to tell them. "When I was in the Still Force and I tapped into a tiny bit of it…I could feel Iris, almost see her. It was like a spark of stillness was inside her too, that I could sense."
"What do you think it means?" Cecile asked.
"I'm not sure, but somehow I know, wherever she is right now, she's okay."
That news gave Joe tears of joy and he hugs his son-in-law/foster son, proud that there's some hope. A little later, Joe and Cecile head home, but Peter asks if he could have a word with Barry in private, so they go out to the balcony.
"What's up?" Barry asked him.
"For starters, I'm glad that you recognize that because Iris was missing, you were blinded to the facts of the case. Which, might I point out, not the first time." Peter bluntly told him.
"Excuse me?"
"Five years ago, you went to the future and saw Savitar kill her. You were so focused on trying to save her, you were willing to let criminals escape and Frost feel unwanted to the point that she joined Savitar."
"You're right. You and Joe. I need to be more careful. Was that all that you wanted to talk to me about?"
"One more thing, advice. It may not be advice that you'll like, but it is necessary. Should the worst happen and if Iris dies-"
"Iris isn't going to die!" Barry said adamantly.
"I'm not saying she will, but it is a possibility."
"We just saw Nora, our daughter. She's proof that we'll be reunited, since she hasn't been born yet."
"Or that the future hasn't changed yet. What I'm trying to get at is that you shouldn't fear that her death will mean the end of your happily ever after, just yours with her."
"What do you mean?"
"I don't want you ending up like the future you from the timeline where Savitar killed her. Hell, you once found love with someone else and foolishly broke up with her to protect her."
"Wait-Patty? Patty Spivot?"
"I…I have seen a version of you that ended up with her…and you were both happy. Hell, if there's one thing I've learned from the Multiverse, is that we often find love in unexpected places. For example, remember when I told you about the doppelgänger of me that was dating Elsa from "Frozen?" Well, before they got together, my doppelgänger dated a woman named Gwen Stacy, but she was killed by a bad guy called the Green Goblin. From what I've seen recently in that other universe, it seems to happen to other Spider-Men. He loved her, when she died he thought that he wouldn't love again. But then he met Elsa. He did love her, but didn't want to be with her in case she shared the same fate as Gwen, but Elsa fought for them."
"Ok, I understand what you're saying. But what about Nora and Bart? If Iris dies, so does my future with them."
"The version of you that was with Patty, well he was with Iris pre-crisis and like you, Nora visited them from the future."
"Wait, did your Barry remember his life pre and post crisis?"
"Yes."
"But if he remembered, why was he with Patty when he could have been with Iris?"
Peter shrugs. "Maybe he realized he made a mistake with Patty and Oliver corrected it when he rebooted the multiverse."
"What about Nora?"
"He didn't want to be with Iris just so that Nora could exist. He moved on, even had a daughter with Patty."
"He replaced Nora?"
"No, he just had another daughter, even named her Dawn. The point is, while moving on is hard to do, it is necessary."
"What about you? What if something happened to your Frost and Caitlin after you returned home?"
"I'd be a hypocrite for telling you this advice if I said no. I guess I'd have to cross that bridge when I came to it."
"Exactly, I can't give up on Iris just yet."
"I know, just don't be afraid of your bridge."
Peter later got a text from Chester that the device that the police found was meant to give free hot water from a clean source at the halfway house that was destroyed. Peter is glad to hear that and that Chester can believe in the good of sharing ideas. They invite Peter to celebrate with them at Marco's, but he decides to pass, not wanting to be a third wheel for a possible couple. He does decide to shoot Caitlin a text, to check on her.
Peter: I hope ur doing ok. We haven't seen u in a while. Just remember, u have friends that luv u. Maybe we all can hang out. I'll talk 2 Chester and Allegra about inviting u 2 next DND session. I know it can b nerdy n confusing, but it's still interacting with humans n can be fun. Frost was my friend. I believe she would want me 2 b ur friend 2. Otherwise, have a good night.
By the time he sent the text, Mark Blaine had just agreed to help Caitlin resurrect Frost. After a few minutes of working, she went to the bathroom. Mark sees her phone on her desk and that it received a text from Peter. After reading it, Mark decides to automatically delete it. He knows that socializing with her friends could take away valuable time of bringing Frost back. Not to mention that realizing that her friends helping her heal from losing Frost could dissuade her from bringing Frost back.
It was too late to head back now. Mark was going to get back the woman he loves…no matter what.
A/N: Spider-Man fans may know of Jameson's connections to Scorpion. But for those wondering who the Mad Bomber is, he was a bad guy and boss in Spider-Man 3 (the game adaptation of the movie). You may know the game for the awful quick time event gameplay and the weird C.G.I., especially the scared woman strapped to a bomb at the beginning of the game.
This episode is yet another example to me of how Barry's obsession with Iris can lead him to bad things, this time: a trap.
