Devon (Sprigatito): - Hear what?
Nathan: - The Mew of Happiness is in town, looking for somemon to take his place
Devon: - Are you saying-?!
Nathan: - One of us could be a Mew!
Devon: - Imagine what we could do with powers like that
Nathan: - Not to mention how popular we would be
Devon: - Well, let's go see him now
Nathan: - That's the spirit
Nathan and Devon told their parents they were leaving, and left to the town square
Devon: - Now, where is this Mew? Feels a tap on his ear Nathan, did you flick my ear?
Nathan: - What? No. Feels a tap on his ear now. Did you just use vine whip to flick my ear cause you thought I flicked yours?
Devon: - Ah, no? I can't learn Vine Whip
?: - Tehehe
Nathan: - Who laughed?
In front of Nathan and Devon, the Mew of Happiness appears
Devon: - Gasp
Nathan: - The Mew of Happiness!
MOH: - Yup, that's me
Devon: - Were you the one who flicked our ears?
MOH: - Hehe, yeah
Nathan: - We heard you were in town to find your replacement
MOH: - That is correct
Devon: - Have you found out who it will be?
The town's other mons start to gather around after seeing the Mew of Happiness with Nathan and Devon
Nathan: - Oh, a crowd has formed
MOH: - Well, since there is a crowd, I might as well answer with, yes, I have found my successor
Devon: - Oh? Who is it?
MOH: - Looks around at everyone a few times, walking around them slowly, before stopping and staring at Nathan
Everyone looks confused, especially Nathan. That is until the Mew holds a paw out in front of Nathan
Nathan: - Looks surprised Wait! You don't mean-?
MOH: - nods
Everyone has a shocked face of excitement, except for Devon, who's shocked face is of disappointment and a bit of jealousy
MOH: - What is your name, young Scorbunny?
Nathan: - I-it's Na-Nathan, sir. My name is Nathan
MOH: - Well, Nathan, I'm sure you will remember this day for the rest of your life, because I choose you
Nathan: - Smiles with excitement, and grabs Nathan's Paw Oh my Arceus, this is the best day of my life
MOH: - Are you ready?
Nathan: - I am ready
MOH: - Transfers his powers to Nathan for everyone to see
A glow forms around Nathan, and his body changes to that of a Mew
After a few seconds, the glow vanishes, and what it left is a white Mew
Devon: - Nathan?
Nathan (Mew): - Yeah?
Devon: - You're a Mew now
Nathan: - Really?! Looks around himself, then in a mirror somemon offers him
Devon: - How do you feel?
Nathan: - I feel amazing, like I could keep so many mons happy, and help them out whenever they need it, super easily
Devon: - What about compared to what you couldn't do as a Scorbunny?
Nathan: - Well, I can fly, use psychic abilities such as reading others' minds, change to look like any pokémon I want, it feels so awesome
Devon: - Do you feel stronger at all?
Nathan: - I do feel like I have more power than I did as a Scorbunny, but I don't really care much about that. Nice to have, but not something I need to worry about
Devon: - I see Looks a bit mad
Nathan: - Sees Devon's expression Devon, are you ok?
Devon: - Hrgg, I wanted it to be me!
Nathan: - What?
Devon: - The Mew of Happiness, I wanted to be the one
Nathan: - Well, it was the other Mew's choice, and he chose me
Devon: - I don't care, I want the power!
Nathan: - Devon, why are you acting like this? Are you jealous that you weren't picked?
Devon: - YES!
Nathan: - Taken aback by Devon's outburst
Devon: - Signs of a dark aura forming around him are showing
Nathan: - Devon, calm down. It's not that big of a deal that you didn't get picked
Devon: - Gets angrier at Nathan's comment
Nathan: - Maybe another Mew will offer you their role
Devon: - THAT'S NOT THE POINT! Dark aura builds more You were always the more popular mon in school! I got set aside as basically an outcast because of my face. Sprigatitos always get bad reps because their face looks like they're growing weed from there! I always get the short end of the stick with everything because of my face!
Nathan: - I mean, my Scorbunny face looks like I'm wearing bandages all the time
Devon: - Well at least your marks actually have some purpose, cause that's where your fire builds from! Mine is just for looks! My face mark has nothing to do with my grass type moves!
Nathan: - What did you think having the power of a Mew would do?
Devon: - Dark aura continues to build and starts to tear up a bit. I thought it would help stop the bullying I get constantly. I thought I would stop getting called the "Weed cat" at school. I thought I would actually become likable and have real friends instead of mons that just pretend, only to then be just another mon that only makes fun of my face. BUT I GUESS THAT OPPORTUNITY IS OUT THE WINDOW!
Nathan: - Devon, I get it, you get bullied a lot at school. Maybe with this new power, I can-
Devon: - NO YOU DON'T GET IT!
Nathan backs off
Devon: - You being a Mew would draw more mons to only like you because you're now a Mew, while I still will get made fun of and called "Weed cat"! It will not end just because you're my brother who is now a Mew! You don't know how much I suffer everyday with the bullying! Dark aura nearly covers his whole body
Nathan: - Devon?!
Devon: - I CAN'T TAKE IT! Dark aura covers him completely, then stabilizes, revealing a Sprigatito with black fur and red pupil-less eyes
Nathan: - Stunned at what Devon just did, falls down backwards
Everyone else stands where they are in disbelief of what they're seeing with Devon's current state
(former) MOH: - What the-!
Nathan: - Do you know what Devon just did?
MOH: - This is new to me
?: - I know what this is
Nathan: - Who said that?
Devon: - Slashes at Nathan
A Shiny Eevee dashes in front of Devon, with a dark aura and red eyes, but his fur isn't completely black, more of a neutral gray instead, and his eyes still have pupils, stops Devon's scratch effortlessly
Devon: - What the-! Pulls back
MOH: - Who are you, and what do you know about what this Sprigatito has done?
Shiny Eevee: - I know about this Sprig's current state because I learned about it from other mons, and I managed to achieve a pseudo version of the power, as you can see. As for who I am, my name is Splat Unchained.
Ace interrupts Nathan telling his story
Ace: - Wait a minute. You said Splat going into rage mode in Rocky's house was the first time you saw him like that.
Nathan (Present): - That I did, and I wasn't lying. That was my first-time seeing Splat go into Rage Mode. Note how I said that Splat said he found a 'pseudo' version of the power. That meant it was an incomplete version of the power.
Ace: - So in the past, you saw Splat partially go into Rage Mode, and that time at Rocky's house was the first time you saw him go into Rage Mode completely?
Nathan: - That is correct
Ace: - Ok, sorry
Nathan: - No worries
Nathan resumes his story
Nathan (Past): - A pseudo version?
Splat (Shiny Eevee): - Mhm
MOH: - What is this power that you two have right now?
Splat: - It's called Rage Mode
Nathan: - Rage Mode?
Splat: - When a mon has a lot of rage built up, this is what happens when their rage consumes them
Nathan: - So Devon is being controlled by his own rage?
Splat: - That appears to only be half-true. His initial rush at you was the result of his rage controlling him, but it seems to have only been for that one attempt to scratch you
Devon: - Still appears mad, but doesn't move
Nathan: - What do you mean?
Splat: - Look at him, he's not acting out wildly. He's just standing there, with a mad face, sure, but he's not trying to escape my grip and attack randomly
Devon: - Meaning?
Splat: - You've gained at least some control over your rage mode
Nathan: - If that's true, what does your pseudo version involve?
Splat: - Devon's rage mode happened because his rage was attempting to control him. My pseudo version happened because I tried to force it out when I wasn't experiencing true rage. Essentially, I tried to will my rage, Devon's rage tried to will him
Nathan: - Is there anything regarding his strength we should worry about?
Splat: - For the pseudo version I am in, there is a power boost applied, but only a 5% boost in strength. For the full power, like what Devon has, it's a 20% boost in strength
Devon: - 20% stronger? I guess that's cool. Wait, how did you get this pseudo version? I just became like this after talking about my hardships at school
Splat: - You think you're the only one with hardships at school?
Devon: - What do you mean?
Splat: - Look turns around to face Nathan, meaning his back is facing Devon
Devon: - Ok, what am I looking at?
Splat: - Lifts his tail up, showing that he has a double tail
Devon: - Oh my
Nathan: - What is it, Devon?
Devon: - Look at this Eevee's tail
Nathan: - His tail? What are- sees the double tail
MOH: - Also looks at it You have a double tail?
Splat: - Yes, I do
Devon: - But what does that have to do with hardships at school?
Splat: - Much like how you get mocked at school for your face mark, I get mocked for my double tail. They say stuff like "Oh I'm trying too hard to become a Shiny Espeon" even after telling them multiple times that I was born with this tail, that I didn't get it from a spell or anything, but they don't care. So, I talked to someone about my issue, and he suggested for me to try to find ways to vent my rage, which after a few days, resulted in my pseudo rage mode that you see.
Devon: - Are you trying to become a Shiny Espeon?
Splat: - No, I'm trying to become a Shiny Umbreon
Nathan: - Why Umbreon?
Splat: - Because they look cool, with their blue rings that can glow in the dark
Devon: - A dark type? Lame
Nathan: - Don't Sprigatitos evolve into a dark type?
MOH: - They do
Devon: - Wait, I'm forced to be a dark type?!
Splat: - Yup
Devon: - That will be way worse than being called a Weed cat!
Splat: - And that mark on your face will become a sort of mask that covers much of it
Devon: - No, no, no, NO, NOOO!
Nathan: - What are you worried about?
Devon: - I'm just gonna be a magnet for bullies! Why did I have to be born a Sprigatito?
Nathan: - Don't you think you're overreacting a bit?
Devon: - No, I'm not! I just can't take it. I'm actually going insane. Knowing that my mark on my face will grow to be a full-on mask, I just can't. I know I'm going to be bullied into the ground. If that's my future, what in the world can I even do?!
Just as Devon finishes what he was saying, he feels a power grow from within him
Devon: - Ack! The black aura vanishes, but it gets replaced with a red aura that is increasing his power beyond what he can handle OW!
Nathan: - Devon?! What is happening?
Devon: - AHhh! I feel a power growing inside me, but it feels like it's killing me!
Nathan: - WHAT?!
Devon: - Help me! PLEASE!
Nathan: - Splat, you seem to be the power expert here. What can we do?
Splat: - U-u-uh, I'm not sure. I've never seen this before
Devon's body slowly changes
MOH: - He's changing?
Devon's body is looking more and more like a Mew's body, but his fur is staying black like his rage
MOH: - Wait, he's turning into a Mew!
Nathan: - A what?!
Splat: - Looks shocked at the former MOH
Devon: - AAAHHH!- his body finishes changing –Gasp! Pants as the change took a lot out of him
Nathan: - D-De-Devon?
Devon: - Ow. Why does my body still hurt?
Nathan: - Your body hurts?
Devon: - Yeah, but I don't get why
Splat: - Maybe because of the change your body just went through
Devon: - What change? Did I evolve into that thing with the mask?!
Splat: - No. You would've looked like a cat standing on two legs, your feet would've been a darker green, you would've had like a clump of grass going down your torso growing from your neck, and your face mark would've been darker green matching your legs. You would have another evolution stage, where you would then be the cat with a mask. But that's not what you changed into just now
Devon: - Then what did I change into?
Splat: - You um- you changed into a Mew
Devon: - Shocked I WHAT?!
Nathan: - Yeah, you're a Mew now. But I don't get why your fur is black instead of white like me
Devon: - My fur is black?
Splat: - Maybe it carried over from your Rage Mode?
Devon: - Can I get a mirror?
Nathan: - Here you go passes a mirror to Devon
Devon: - Looks at himself, initially in disbelief, but that soon changes into an evil smile
Nathan: - Devon?
Devon: - Or maybe my Mew power has a different purpose. Lowers the mirror, showing his evil smile
Splat: - Devon?
Devon: - Hehehe, with this power, I can make it so I can never get made fun of again.
Nathan: - What are you talking about? Devon, what has gotten into you?
Devon: - Gets in Nathan's face You think you're so great with how everyone likes you. Well, we'll see how that will change when you have no one left to like you. Evilly grins
Nathan: - What are you-? No, no. It can't be.
MOH: - What can't be?
Devon: - Get ready to live the miserable life I had to. Flies away, laughing evilly
Nathan: - Drops to his knees. Tears fill his eyes Devon, why?
Splat: - Why what? Do you think you know what happened?
Nathan: - I've heard of stories about a group of Mews who have special marks that they use to help other mons. I've heard that these "Marked Mews", as they were called in those stories, can sometimes be faced with a Mew who has a mark that gives the other Mew a power that is the direct opposite power of the first Mew.
Splat: - Can you give an example?
Nathan: - The previous Mew of Happiness is here behind me. I got his power, and Devon became jealous. I think because of how jealous he was, not just with me being the Mew of Happiness now, but also with the school situation he brought up- tears start shedding I think he got the Mew power opposite of happiness.
Splat: - And that is-
Nathan: - Misery
Everyone surrounding MOH, Nathan, and Splat: - Gasp!
Nathan: - Positive Mew powers, like the Mew of Happiness, are passed down every time a new mon for the role is selected, but negative Mew powers, they don't get passed down, instead it can be earned by anymon.
Splat: - Are negative Mew roles that bad?
Nathan: - Some are more of an annoyance than just straight up bad, but- still crying why did my brother have to get a negative role?
Splat: - Hey, we'll find a way to get him back to normal, or at least make it so he can't do any real harm with that power
Nathan: - Looks up, and wipes his tears. Thank you. I just want to get my brother back to his loving self, as he usually is.
Splat: - I'm sure he is very caring deep down, and like I said, we'll get him back. Count on it.
Just as Splat said that, his body began to glow. His body begin to change to that of an Umbreon, but his tail kept the forked nature it had before evolving, and since he evolved during the day, his fur became orange with green rings to match the daytime lighting of the area
Nathan: - Another change?
Splat: - What change?
Nathan: - You. You're an Umbreon now
Splat: - I evolved into an Umbreon during the day?
MOH: - That's not supposed to happen
Splat: - Yeah, an Eevee can only evolve into an Umbreon at night
Nathan: - Well it happened now
Splat: - Looks in the mirror And why is my fur orange? And I have green rings?
Nathan: - Maybe a weird quirk of evolving into Umbreon during the day?
Splat: - Hmm, maybe. I think I feel the power an Umbreon is supposed to have
Nathan: - Looks at Splat's tail And your tail looks like it changed a bit
Splat: - Changed ho- looks at his tail Wait, what-? grabs it and brings it in front of him I still have the split?!
Nathan: - Yeah, that's why I said it changed just a bit
Splat: - I guess to make up for the extra tail segments, I got rings put on those too, and- looks at his wrists –and I also got rings on my wrists?
MOH: - You have even more rings?
Splat: - Yeah, on top of the extra tail segments, I have 4 extra rings on my body
Nathan: - Is that a bad thing?
Splat: - Sigh Well, no use in worrying about it now, since it's already happened. I won't know if this will be a problem until mons in school see what happened to me. And if it's a problem, I'm just gonna have to live with that.
Nathan: - Well at least you're not gonna turn on me like Devon
Splat: - Why would I do that?
Nathan: - Because you're fearing how others would judge your evolution?
Splat: - I wanted to be an Umbreon, which I got, so I at least have that going for me
Nathan: - So, you're content with yourself?
Splat: - Yes, I am
Nathan: - Thank you so much. Hearing you saying that you're happy is making me feel better
Splat: - Heh, and I thought it was your role to help other mons be happy
Nathan: - Hehe, I guess the role works both ways
Everyone starts laughing at the bit of irony, including Nathan
Back in the present
Nathan: - And things didn't change much between us three from that point. The MOH before me is still alive but will start aging again once his Mew time has run out.
Ace: - What about compared to now?
Nathan: - I mean yeah, Devon is still evil, but now he more or less is doing it out of spite at this point. Splat has a good job as the medic of the Infinity Guild and does very well at the job. As for me, I never lost any friends, like Devon threatened I would. There are some friends I don't see much anymore, but I do keep in contact with all of them, and have made new friends, such as you and your pokémon family, the other mons at the Infinity Guild, and Kenny and your human parents
Ace: - Well that's good that you're at least living a positive life
Nathan: - Yeah. I just wish to get my brother back to the way he was before we became Mews. I won't be upset if he's still a Mew, I just want his fun, charming, caring personality back. Just because he has a negative Mew power doesn't mean he has to be an evil Mew. Kai, for instance, is more a nuisance than truly evil, as you've seen
Ace: - Yup. Hopefully I won't have to deal with that again
Nathan: - Yeah. Anyway, we should get back to the others, it's getting late
Ace: - Right
Ace and Nathan walk back to the Infinity Guild
