In the past, just after everyone in the square calmed down from laughing at the irony of the Mew of Happiness needing help reclaiming happiness.
Nathan: - Sigh - Looks around to see everyone smiling at him and Splat It looks like everyone is taking our new forms well.
Splat: - Also sees everyone looking at them with smiles Well that's a good sign, but that's just the mons around here. The real question is what will everyone else think of us now?
Nathan: - That's a good question.
Derek: - Well, is there anyone you want to show your new forms to first?
Nathan: - I don't know yet
Splat: - I have somemon in mind
Nathan: - Really? Who?
Splat: - Follow me. She said she was meeting with her friend today. She told me where she would be
Nathan: - Alright, lead the way
Splat runs towards the other side of town. Nathan and Derek follow behind.
Meanwhile with a male Pikachu, a female Yamper, a male Alolan Raichu, a female Shiny Boltund, a female normal Boltund, and a male Shiny Sylveon
Male Pikachu: - Uses thunderbolt
Female Yamper: - Dodges, then uses spark
Male Pikachu: - Takes the hit and falls onto his back
Female Yamper: - Yay! I finally beat you, Jake.
Male Pikachu (Jake): - Not bad, Lisa
Female Yamper (Lisa): - Thank you Helps Jake stand back up
Both: - Look at each other, smiling, then laugh
Male Alolan Raichu: - You gave it your all, son
Jake: - Thanks, dad
Female Shiny Boltund: - Jake has gotten a lot better with his moves. Wouldn't you say, George?
Male Alolan Raichu (George): - Indeed I would
Male Shiny Sylveon: - You sure raised a strong Pikachu, Laura.
Female Shiny Boltund (Laura): - Well, you're the lucky ones, since you had twins, with one of them being shiny.
Male Shiny Sylveon: - We're both normal/shiny couples. It's probably just because of my Cute Charm that we got a shiny son. Winks at Laura
Female normal Boltund: - Oh come on, Gordon. You know that isn't how it works.
Male Shiny Sylveon (Gordon): - I know, Lesley. I'm just throwing some fairy dust.
Lisa: - But dad, Fairy type pokemon don't have fairy dust
Gordon: - Are you sure?
Lisa: - Mom said that wasn't true
Gordon: - Holds his paw out palm up and aims the ends of his ribbons at a spot right above it Watch closely
Jake and Lisa look at his paw
Gordon: - Starts making fairy dust at the point where his ribbons meet and it sprinkles onto his paw See, fairy dust
Jake and Lisa: - With sparkles in their eyes Woah. Awesome!
Female normal Boltund (Lesley): - Wow, I guess I was wrong
Gordon: - Heh, just because it isn't a move doesn't mean we fairy types can't do it. Raises his paw to his mouth and blows the fairy dust in the air
The fairy dust float down over Jake and Lisa
Jake and Lisa: - Laughing and having fun in the fairy dust shower
George: - It looks like they're loving the fairy dust shower
Gordon: - They sure are.
George: - Gets a spark on his cheeks - Gasp Something's coming
Jake and Lisa stop and look at George
Gordon: - Is something-
George: - Cuts Gordon off SHH! Looks around for what made his cheeks spark
Lesley: - Sees something in the sky, and starts to shiver in fear Uh, Gordon?
Gordon: - What is it? Looks in the direction Lesley is looking
Gordon sees a shadowy figure in the sky
Gordon: - Woah, what's that?!
Everyone looks to see the figure
Devon: - Looking down at everyone Well well well, it seems I found the first targets to test my new power on. Flies down closer to everyone
George: - Gordon, Lesley, take Jake and Lisa, and get out of here.
Gordon: - But George-
George: - Cuts Gordon off again Just go! Laura and I will take care of this. Right Laura?
Laura: - Right
Gordon: - RRrr, alright then. Find us soon, George. Grabs Jake and Lisa with his ribbons, then gets ready to run into the nearby forest
Lesley: - Take him down quickly. Good luck
Laura: - We shouldn't need luck, but thanks
Lesley: - Let's go, honey
Gordon: - Right
George: - Be brave, Jake. We'll see you soon, we promise
Jake: - Ok. Good luck dad, mom. Come back to me, safe.
George: - Looks back at Jake, and nods with a determined smile
Gordon and Lesley start running into the forest
Devon: - Sees them running Where do you think you're going? Prepares to shoot a Shadow Ball at the running mons
George: - Steps in front of Devon's aim Your fight is with us
Devon: - So be it then. Shoots the Shadow Ball at George
George: - Slaps it to the ground
Devon: - Oooo, it seems I might actually get to see a lot of what my new form can do after all
George: - New form? Sees the mon in front of him is a black Mew You weren't always a Mew?
Devon: - Nope, but I sure like that I am one now. Especially since I can do this. Uses Chilling Water on George
George: - Takes the hit full force and gets launched back a bit
Laura: - George! Turns to the Mew with an angry look on her face, then uses Thunderbolt
Devon: - Dodges easily by shifting to one side Oh, was that supposed to hit me? Giggles, then goes into a full on evil laugh This is going to be fun! Has an evil smile on his face
The 3 of them continue fight with neither side appearing to tire out
Shortly after, Splat and Nathan reach a hill near where the fight is happening
Splat: - Just over this hill. We should be seeing 6 pokemon
Nathan: - What pokemon are we seeing?
Splat: - You'll see them as soon as we- Shifts his look over the crest of the hill, but stops at the top in shock of what he sees
Nathan: - What's the pro- Looks where Splat is looking -blem?
Both see the clearing looking like a wasteland
Splat: - What happened here?
Both see an Alolan Raichu and a Boltund fighting a Mew. They recognise the Mew as Devon
Nathan: - What's Devon doing here?
They see the Alolan Raichu and Boltund looking exhausted
Nathan: - What should we do? It looks like Devon is going to win.
Splat: - Nathan, look for the others in that forest. Points to the nearby forest
Nathan: - What pokemon am I looking for?
Splat: - A Shiny Sylveon, a normal Boltund, a normal Yamper, and a normal Pikachu. I'll take care of Devon
Nathan: - Got it Flies off into the forest
Devon doesn't notice Nathan flying into the forest
Splat: - Runs down the hill. Goes into pseudo Rage Mode midway down the hill.
Devon: - Aw, I was hoping to get to use more of my new power on you guys. Oh well, time to finish this. About to charge up a Shadow Claw to finish George and Laura
Splat: - Oh no you don't!
Devon: - Hu-? OOF! Gets punched in the face by Splat, and gets launched away
Splat: - Haven't you caused enough pain already?! Stares in Devon's direction. Fur is dark-orange, almost brown, with bright red rings, bright red eyes with white pupils, and a thin black aura surrounding him
George: - Doesn't recognise Splat immediately Uh, who are you, strange Umbreon?
Splat: - Doesn't hear him
George: - Uh hello
Splat: - Turns to face them with a determined look
George: - Do you want a fight too?
Splat: - Are you guys alright?
George: - What's it to you?
Laura: - Sees the split tail Wait, Splat?
George: - Laura, that isn't him. Splat's a Shiny Eevee
Laura: - I know, but I think he evolved. Look at this Umbreon's tail
George: - Sees the tail has a split just like Splat has Splat? Are you for real? You managed to evolve into an Umbreon during the day?
Splat: - Mhm Nods and smiles, but keeps his determined look
George: - When did this happen?
Splat: - Just a few minutes ago
Devon: - Recovers from Splat's punch and floats over the pond I have to admit, I wasn't expecting to see you here.
Splat: - Looks back at Devon
Devon: - But I'm glad you're here. Now I might get to truly test out my new power.
Splat: - How are you two holding up?
George: - We're alright
Laura: - I'm fine
Splat: - Good, cause it looks like we're not out of the woods yet
Meanwhile, with Gordon, Lesley, Jake, and Lisa
Gordon: - Hope that Mew didn't follow us in here
Lesley: - I think we lost it, but we shouldn't stop now
Nathan: - Appears in front of them
Gordon and Lesley stop
Gordon: - How did it catch up to us that quickly? Don't tell us you beat George and Laura already
Jake: - Mom, dad?
Nathan: - Relax, I'm not the same Mew
Gordon: - Sees that it's a white Mew floating in front of them Oh thank Arceus. You really aren't that other Mew
Lesley: - But what are you doing here?
Nathan: - I came to help you hide from that other Mew
Gordon: - Do you have an idea of where we should go?
Nathan: - No, but I can try to teleport you somewhere Devon wouldn't think to look
Gordon and Lesley: Look at each other and nod We're ready
Nathan: - Places a paw on both of them, and teleports them all to another world
Everyone sees the world they landed in is full of beings that are not pokemon
Gordon: - This looks like a good place to hide, but we should try to blend in with the beings of this world, as they don't look like pokemon.
Lesley: - Yeah, it would also disguise us from that other Mew, hopefully
Nathan: - Alright Uses Transform on Gordon, Lesley, Jake, and Lisa
The 4 of them transform into beings that look similar to the beings of this world
Gordon: - Thank you. What's your name?
Nathan: - My name is Nathan
Lesley: - Thank you, Nathan, but now we need to find a place to stay. Looks around and sees advertisements showing prices in a different currency to theirs The question now is, how? I don't think our money would work here
Nathan: - Maybe someone here will be willing to take you in as guests until you can get enough of this world's money to live on your own.
Gordon: - Well, no harm in trying. Spots a small store that has a hiring sign in the window Let's try there Points to the store
Lesley: - Alright
Nathan: - I'll stay hidden, but will help if needed
Lesley: - Ok, Nathan
Gordon and Lesley walk over to the store, which they see is actually a small restaurant, and walk inside
Cashier: - Hello. What can get you?
Gordon: - A job, please? We saw your sign out front that you're hiring
Cashier: - Ok, I'll be back with the manager Walks to the manager's office
The cashier and the manager walk to the counter
Manager: - Hello, I am the manager of this place. I heard from my associate that you're interested in working here. Is that correct?
Gordon: - Yes. We would also like a place to stay, since we're currently homeless. Do you know of a good place?
Manager: - As it just so happens, I'm also the owner of this building. I have an apartment above this restaurant that I rent out. I usually charge rent, but since you're willing to help me here, I can let you and your kids live there for free.
Lesley: - Thank you so much, sir
Manager: - My name is Steve, by the way
Gordon: - My name is Gordon, and this is my wife, Lesley.
Lesley: - Hello
Gordon: - And this our daughter, Lisa, and our friends' son, and Lisa's friend, Jake.
Steve: - Do you have last names?
Gordon: - Unchained. Jake's last name is Rogers.
?: - Hey, that's our last name
Gordon: - Who are you?
?: - Tarek Rogers, and this is my wife Christina
Christina Rogers: - Hello
Tarek Rogers: We can take care of Jake for you
Gordon: - That would help, thank you
Jake: - Hello, I'm Jake. Nice to meet you
Christina: - Nice to meet you, Jake
Gordon: - So, where do you live?
Tarek: - We're actually just next door
Lisa: - Really? That means Jake and I can see each other all the time
Gordon: - Exactly. Faces Steve It's settled.
Steve: - Good. I'll give you some time to settle into the apartment, then you can start Monday. That sound fair?
Gordon: - Perfect, thank you so much
Steve: - No problem
They all get settled into their new homes
Nathan: - (They seem to be alright. I don't think they need me now) Teleports back to the Pokemon World, right where he left from it
Meanwhile, back in the Pokemon World
Devon: - panting You sure got used to your new form quick, bree.
Splat: - Stares at Devon, unfazed
Devon: - I can clearly see that I can't win today, but you'll see me again. And when that happens, we'll see which is stronger, happiness or misery.
Laura: - Happiness and misery balance each other out. They're equally as powerful.
George: - Exactly. They're polar opposites. One can't exist without the other.
Devon: - Then explain to me how I never got to experience true happiness all my life while my brother never had to experience true misery. If neither can exist without the other, then why has only one happened to each of us?
Laura and George just stand there with blank stares, unable to answer the question
Devon: - Exactly. You don't know what I've been through.
Splat: - Doesn't mean they're wrong.
Devon: - I'm not saying they're entirely wrong. Just that one can exist without the other.
Splat: - Gets ready to attack
Devon: - Smiles evilly And I am going to prove that someday, when happiness is nothing but more misery. AHAHAHAHAHA! Flies off
Splat: - Fires a Dark Pulse at Devon, but misses
Devon flies out of view of everyone
George: - Splat…, who was that?
Splat: - That was Devon, Nathan's brother
Laura: - Devon? Who?
Splat: - He's a Sprigatito who was in a similar situation to me in regards to bullies at school. We go to the same school, though his class is in a different part of the building, so I rarely saw him. His brother, Nathan, is also in my school. Nathan is a Scorbunny, but unlike Devon, he's actually very popular with the other students.
George: - How was that Devon? That was a Mew, not a Sprigatito.
Splat: - Just before I evolved, Nathan was chosen as the successor to Derek, who is the Mew of Happiness, well, was before he passed it down. Devon got jealous that it wasn't him that was chosen. Devon got mad and went into true Rage Mode and tried to hit his brother, who is now a Mew. That's when I intervened, and tried to reassure him that there are others with similar problems to him, such as myself, so he's not alone in his situation.
Laura: - What happened that caused Devon to become a Mew as well?
Splat: - After talking about that, I talked about what Eeveelution I wanted to be. I told them I wanted to be Umbreon, Devon thought it was lame cause I wanted to be a dark type, but then Nathan and I pointed out that Sprigatitos are forced to evolve into a dark type, and Devon freaked out. He got so paranoid that his situation was going to be worse than it already was, which caused him to change into the Mew we just fought. Shortly after that, after he flew off, Nathan somehow recognised what Mew power Devon got, which was the Mew of Misery, and Nathan broke down from the realization. I then reassured Nathan that we'll get Devon to understand that there's good that can still come out of his situation. This was the moment when I evolved into the Umbreon you see me as now.
George: - With the dark aura?
Splat: - Well, goes back to normal this Umbreon, but yes
George: - Are you ok with what you evolved into?
Splat: - I'm perfectly fine with my evolution. I wanted to be an Umbreon from the start, and I got what I wanted. I'll admit not having the normal Shiny Umbreon fur and ring colors, and having extra rings on my extra tail segments and wrists is weird, but I like it. It makes me unique compared to all the other Shiny Umbreons.
Nathan flies over to them after leaving the forest
Splat: - Nathan, are they ok?
George: - That's Nathan?
Laura: - You weren't kidding about him also being a Mew
Nathan: - Hello, I'm Nathan, and yes, your friends are fine. I sent them to a world where Devon shouldn't be able to find them.
Splat: - Thank you, though they aren't just my friends
Nathan: - Huh?
Splat: - The Pikachu, Jake, is my friend, but the Yamper, Boltund and Shiny Sylveon you tracked down are my family
Nathan: - Wait, what?
Splat: - The Boltund is my mother, Lesley, the Shiny Sylveon is my father, Gordon, and the Yamper is my twin sister, Lisa
Nathan: - Oh, so that's why you wanted them to see you evolved
Splat: - Mhm, but it looks like I'll have to wait on showing them, at least until Devon comes to his senses and realizes that he doesn't need to get revenge on the mons that hurt him just to try to make up for his past.
Nathan: - Only time will tell, but for now, let's go home. It's getting late
Splat: - Agreed
They all head home for the evening
While walking
George: - Splat?
Splat: - Yes?
George: - Would you like to live with us, at least until your parents come back or until you're old enough to live on your own?
Splat: - I'd like that, thank you
They reached the Rogers' house, meanwhile Nathan went back to his house
Back to the present
Splat: - And life pretty much stayed as it was before the whole incident. Nathan did make occasional trips to the human world to check on your parents and grandparents, and they were doing very well for themselves. Of course, you already know that.
Ben: - Wait, you said that Gordon and Lesley, our mother's parents were your parents too
Splat: - Yes, that's correct
Ben: - Our mother is your sister?
Splat: - That's what I said, and that's true. Lisa is my twin sister
Ace: - Th-that would make you… Turns to Ben, shocked
Ben: - Looks at Ace with the same look
Both: - Turn back to Splat Are you our uncle?
Splat: - Nods with a smile
Ben: - Then why didn't you go with our mother to the human world?
Splat: - Nathan and I thought it would be better if Lisa and I stayed apart to reduce the risk of both of getting attacked again by Devon
Ace: - Well, that doesn't really matter anymore, since Devon is now in the human world
Splat: - I understand, but he only knows of you. He doesn't know your parents are also still there
Ace: - Why didn't Nathan bring our parents with him when he brought Ben and Kenny?
Splat: - That…I don't have an answer for. It was Nathan's decision to bring you three here, not mine.
Ace: - For all three of us?
Splat: - Yeah. He wanted to bring you over here because he thought you three together would be strong enough to battle Devon as pokemon.
Ace: - So we were just brought into the whole fight between Nathan and Devon against our will?
Splat: - I'm sorry. I wish I could've talked Nathan out of taking you here if you didn't want to. I wasn't aware that he was going to do that.
Ace: - In an angry tone Anything else that Nathan didn't tell you?
Splat: - Ace, please calm down. I'm not the one to get mad at. Devon is who started this whole situation in the first place, even though Nathan brought you here on his own accord
Ace: - I'm gonna have some choice words with Nathan when we meet again
Ben: - Hold on, you said Nathan thought us and Kenny would be strong enough to battle Devon as pokemon
Splat: - Yeah?
Ben: - This may be just a guess, but is Kenny also originally a pokemon?
Ace: - Ben, what are you talking about? That's nonsense, of course he's human.
Splat: - Actually, Ben is correct
Ace: - What?!
Splat: - Kenny was also born a pokemon. He's not human
Ace: - How?!
Splat: - His parents were brought over to the human world in a similar way to your parents, but they weren't brought over at the same time
Ace: - Do you know how that happened?
Splat: - Yes, but I think Kenny should hear it as well. I'll tell you, but we should meet up with Kenny so he can know as well.
Ace: - Ok, but before we do, please don't tell me that the rest of the Football team are also pokemon.
Splat: - I'm not sure how many members are on your team, but it's only yours and Kenny's families, and Devon, that are pokemon in the human world to my knowledge.
Ace: - Well that's reassuring. So now I don't know if the rest of our team in the human world are also pokemon. If I find out that they are, someone is going to have a bad day, and I'm not talking about Devon. Cracks his paw knuckles
Ben: - Anyway, should we head to the next floor?
Ace: - Yeah, let's go tell Kenny about his past.
Splat: - Alright
They head to the next floor
Mt Magma: Floor 4
Ace, Ben, and Splat reach the top of the stairs. There they find Kenny, Max, and Rocky resting from the fighting they endured in the current room
Kenny: - What took you three so long? Jeff, Red, and Citrine already went on ahead.
Ace: - Sorry Kenny. We had a little talk downstairs that took a lot longer than we planned.
Kenny: - Oh? What did you talk about?
Ace: - Would you like to break the ice… Turns to Splat …uncle?
Kenny: - Confused Uncle?
Splat: - Answering Ace Sure
Kenny: - Confusion turns to shock Splat's your uncle?!
Ace: - Yup. I was just as shocked as you. Splat told us about our parents' past, when they first crossed over to the human world.
Ben: - He told us about how Devon attacked them and our grandparents shortly after changing into a Mew, and how our father's parents and Splat fought back against Devon while the rest ran into the nearby forest where Nathan found them and took them into the human world to hide them from Devon.
Splat: - Mhm, though their parents, their mother's parents, and Devon are not the only pokemon in the human world, Kenny
Kenny: - Wow, that's amazing enough that my best friend's parents are pokemon living in the human world. I never suspected anything regarding them as not human. Except for maybe one time when we were younger and I did something that upset their mom, which, along with her angry face reaction, it looked as though she sent sparks flying, and blew out the power. She wasn't even holding anything that required electricity and something like that sparked, no, it looked like it came from her feet.
Ace: - Wait, you remember that?
Kenny: - How could I not? Your mom was right in front of me when it happened. You didn't see it cause you were in your room playing Pokemon Y cause it had just come out then. You came out 2 minutes later asking why the power was out and if someone could fix it, which your father was 5 steps ahead of everyone and flipped the breaker just as you made your request. Then you went back to playing on your 3DS.
Ace: - Did I have psychic powers that I asked dad to fix the power when I noticed it was out?
Kenny: - No, he was already down there doing some of his woodworking hobby.
Ace: - Oh, that's not a hobby, my dad owns a real estate flipping business. He works for Nintendo during the week, but he works on the houses he's flipping on the weekends and on his vacation days, and if I remember correctly, that incident happened on a Saturday.
Splat: - House flipping?
Ace: - My dad buys houses that are in rough shape, fixes them, then sells them for profit
Splat: - I see
Kenny: - Anyway, what does this have to do with other pokemon in the human world? If Devon, your parents, and your mom's parents are not the only pokemon in the human world, who else is there?
Splat: - I don't know how to say this
Kenny: - What?
Splat: - Begins to lift his paw
Kenny: - Huh?
Splat: - Lifts his paw straight out in front of him
Kenny: - Stares at Splat's paw, occasionally glances back to his eyes Hmm?
Splat: - Points at Kenny
Kenny: - Looks confused at Splat pointing at him. What's that supposed to mean?
Splat: - Emphasizes his point with his claw
Kenny: - Uh?
Splat: - Just for show
Kenny: - But what are you saying? That I was born a pokemon?
Splat: - Nods
Kenny: - Eyes widen You can't be serious
Splat: - I am serious. You are not human, Kenny. You are a pokemon. You are a Meowstic for real.
Kenny: - Ace and I have been best friends for years, yet neither of us were human?
Splat: - That is correct.
Kenny: - How? I was also born in the human world. I remember my parents both being human in all my baby photos.
Splat: - Your parents, like Ace and Ben's parents, also were attacked by Devon, and also were brought over to the human world by Nathan, though it wasn't at the same time as Jake and Lisa
Kenny: - I would like to know what happened that day, if you know.
Splat: - I do, I'll tell you
Kenny: - Thank you, but first…
Splat: - Yeah?
Kenny: - Could you explain why Ace called you uncle?
Splat: - Of course. You know how I said their mother, Lisa, is in the human world?
Kenny: - Yeah?
Splat: - She's my twin sister
Kenny: - Your twin?!
Splat: - Mhm
Kenny: - What pokemon is she?
Splat: - She's a Boltund, much like Ace
Kenny: - Wait, then how are you two twins?
Splat: - Our mother, Lesley, is also a Boltund, but our father, Gordon, is a Shiny Sylveon. Lisa was born a normal Yamper, I was born a Shiny Eevee with a split tail like that one you see me have now.
Kenny: - How did you evolve into a Shiny Umbreon with colors different from other Shiny Umbreon?
Splat: - You're familiar with the conditions on how an Eevee evolves into each of the Eeveelutions, correct?
Kenny: - Yes. I've played the Pokemon games in the human world as much as Ace has.
Splat: - You know how an Eevee normally evolves into an Umbreon at night, right?
Kenny: - Yeah?
Splat: - I somehow evolved into an Umbreon during the day
Kenny: - Ok, now that's strange. Did you ever find out how you did that?
Splat: - No, and I'm still trying to figure that out.
Kenny: - Ok, but anyway, back to my parents
Splat: - Right. Well, your parents crossed over about 10 years after Ace and Ben's parents crossed over. Their parents crossed over nearly 30 years ago, just after Nathan and Devon became Mews. Your parents crossed over 20 years ago.
Kenny: - How did Devon find and attack them? What happened on that day?
Splat: - This is going to be a long story, might as well sit and rest.
Max: - Do you mind us listening in?
Rocky: - We want to know too
Kenny: - You can listen as well
Splat: - Everyone comfortable?
Everyone sits down on the ground
Splat: - Sits down as well Alright. The day started out normal. I had just gotten my medical degree a year prior, which is how I became a doctor at the guild by the way. Anyway, it was just past noon, and I was performing with Derek on stage for one of his magic shows.
