Episode 33: Abandon Ship!
Mew and her friends now left Dewford Island and are heading on to their next destination on a boat.
Molly turns to Brock, "So where are we going?"
"First stop, Slateport City,' Brock says, looking at the guidebook, "Then it's off to Mauville City after that."
"And Mauville City is where the next gym is, right, Brock?" Mac asks.
"Yep. That's right," Mew says, "And I can't wait for that gym battle."
Then May says, "But first thing's first. Remember? Our Slateport Pokémon Contest, Mew?"
"Oh right, I remember. I can't wait for the contest as well," Mew says.
"It's your very first contest, and Mew's second contest, are you two all set?" Brock asks.
"I think I'm ready for it. I've been practicing with my Beautifly," May says.
"I've been training with my Pokemon, but still trying to decide which one to use for the contest," Mew says.
"Come on, you guys are gonna be great, I know you are," Max says.
"You're right," May says.
Then turns to Mew, "And may the best coordinator win."
"Same here, May," Mew says.
As the group talks, Jessie listens in.
She chuckles, "It's almost time."
"Good. And everything's in place," James says.
The boat soon comes to a stop.
Jessie says, "Time for a midday refreshment."
The group accepts their given refreshments.
"Hey, this is great, thanks," Tomo says.
"You two have really done too much for us," Brock says.
"Free sandwiches and drinks, too?" May says.
"Sounds too good to be true," Jen says.
"I have to agree," Mew says..
But James says, "Oh, no. A cruise is only as good as the folks you meet on it."
Then Jessie says, "Hey, how about a little treat for your Pikachu and Eevee, huh?"
Pikachu and Eevee hop off Mew's shoulder.
Jessie kneels down and hands out some food, "Such a cute little Pikachu deserves the best. Same as this darling, Eevee."
Pikachu and Eevee happily take a bite, but James quickly pulls the trigger on the trap.
That has shocked everyone.
"Pikachu! Eevee!" Mew cries out.
Jessie and James soon say, "These babies are in the bag!"
"Hold it, who are you?!" May demands.
Jessie: (removes her disguise)
Prepare for trouble, at least you're not naïve.
James: (removes his disguise)
Make it double, though your friends we deceived!
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation!
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation!
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love!
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above!
Jessie:
Jessie.

Jessie:
Team Rocket floats off at the speed of light.
James:
Surrender now or prepare for a fight!
Right on cue, the Magikarp sub surfaces and Meowth and Wobbuffet come out of the hatch.
Meowth:
Dat's right!
Wobbuffet:
Woooobbuffet! (End of scene!)
"Team Rocket!" Mew cries out.
"And to think I thought you were just a friendly old couple!" Max says.
"Few have ever accused us of being old," Jessie says.
"And CERTAINLY not a couple!" James adds.
Mew then calls out, "Go, Corphish, I choose you!"
Corphish comes out and cuts the rubber bag open, freeing Pikachu and Eevee.
Jessie throws her Pokeball and calls out, "Now, Seviper, front and center!"
Seviper soon comes out.
Jessie calls out, "Poison Tail!"
Seviper charges and throws the attack, but Corphish evades)
Then Mew calls out, "Go, Corphish, Crab Hammer!"
Corphish then attacks and lands hard, knocking Seviper out instantly.
May then calls out, "Beautifly, Gust, now!"
Beautifly comes out of the Pokeball and blows Jessie, James and Seviper onto the sub.
Mew then calls out, "Pikachu, Eevee, Thunderbolt!" And throws them into the air.
Both Pikachu and Eevee land the attack, destroy the sub and send Team Rocket flying.
"We had to take out a loan to pay for that boat," Jessie says.
"Not to mention using our last pennies to buy those blasted snacks," James adds
"Snacks ain't de only tings blasting," Meowth says.
Then Team Rocket cries out, "We're blasting off again!"
"Woooobbuffet!" (Way too soon!) Wobbuffet cries out.
Mew then catches Pikachu and Eevee, "Good job, guys." Then turns to Corphish, "You too, Corphish."
The three Pokemon feel proud.
Moments later, Brock tries to get the boat to start, but it refuses to go.
"What's wrong, Brock?" Molly asks.
"It looks like this boat's outta gas," Brock says.
Mew soon looks around, "And there doesn't seem to be a radio, either. Just great!"
Dark clouds start rolling in. The water starts to get a bit choppy as the boat drifts on.
"Guys, where do you think we're heading?" May asks.
"You got me, May," Brock says.
Mew says, "And it looks like the tide is taking us wherever the tide carries us."
"And now it's getting foggy," Max says.
The group looks ahead and Tomo spots something, "I see something ahead."
Mew looks and says, "It looks like, a ship."
"You think so?" Max asks.
"Yeah, but something's weird," Brock says.
"You're right," Tomo says.
"It looks kind of spooky," Jen says.
"Maybe it got stuck in the sand, or rocks, or something," Mew says.
The group soon come to a stop and closely examine the hull of the ship.
"The ship looks pretty new," Brock says.
"True, but it looks like it's been here for years," Jen says.
"Maybe, but maybe there's a radio onboard," Brock says.
"We should go check it out," Mew says.
Everyone proceeds towards the ship.
Soon, May says, "Attention, mystery fans, the moment you've been waiting for! Join us now as May's detective team investigates the mystery ship! Who knows what secrets are contained within her steel walls, awaiting our discovery?"
Soon, the group is aboard and begins to explore around.
"This ship is gigantic," Max says.
"It sure is," Brock says.
Mew looks over the starboard side of the ship, "Hey!"
"What?" Brock asks.
"Find something?" Jen asks.
Some of the group head over and peer over the starboard side of the ship and find another boat
"Another boat!" Max says.
"It sure looks that way," Brock says.
Soon, May comes into the scene, "And another mysterious boat is found. Could this be a piece, to the mystery puzzle."
Soon, someone comes out of one of the cabins. Soon, the group turns to see the mysterious person. The person is a young man with light indigo hair, light purple eyes, and wears a jacket.
May soon says, "Flash! A new and mysterious character has entered into the scene. And who could he be?"
"Who am I? My name's Tommy," The mysterious person reveals himself, "What are you guys doing aboard this ship?"
"We were just…" Mew says.
"Our boat ran out of gas a while back, so we drifted our way here," Brock says.
"Well, that's a total bummer," Tommy says.
"So what are you doing here?" Jen asks.
"I came out here to investigate this ship myself," Tommo says.
"What's it's story?" Mew asks.
Tommo then explains, "This is the shipwreck known as the Forsaken Ship. After it crashed, the crew and passengers managed to make it out safely. But the coastguard just left it sitting here, so I came to check her out, to see if it can be moved or not."
"That's kinda sad," May says.
And Tommy says, "You know, me and my family were actually passengers aboard this ship the night she crashed. And right in the middle of the whole evacuation, somehow, I lost track of my Marshtomp. So I'm thinking that, with a little bit of luck, Marshtomp is still here on the ship. That's the other reason that I'm here."
"Marshtomp?" Jen questions.
Mew brings out her Pokedex, and Dextette says, "Marshtomp, the Mud Fish Pokémon. A Water and Ground Type. Marshtomp is the evolved form of Mudkip. It is able to move and swim more quickly through mud then through water."
"I was really hoping to make it back to the mainland sooner than this," Tommy says.
"Hope you find your Marshtomp," Brock says.
"Thanks," Tommy says, "As soon as I'm done checking things out here, I'd be more than happy to give you guys a ride to the nearest port."
"That would be awesome!" The group happily says.
The Pokemon agree.
Soon, the clouds move along, allowing the sun to shine once more and giving the group time to relax and contemplate what to do next while also enjoying some refreshments given to them by Tommy.
May takes a drink of her soda and a bite of a cookie, "Yummy!"
"That Tommy sure is a nice guy, giving us drinks and snacks while we wait for him, right?" Mew says.
"Yes. I hope he finds his Pokemon," Molly says.
"Me too," Mew says.
Suddenly, Torchic and Eevee notice and sense something, respectively, peering through a door before going into hiding. Prompting them to follow it before they come, frighteningly, face to face with it. Their frightened cries alert the rest of the group
"Torchic?" May calls out.
"Eevee?" Mew questions.
The group rushes in to find them, but nothing.
"Torchic! Torchic, where did you go?" May calls out.
Mew also calls out, "Eevee, where are you?"
Soon, Tommy rushes over, "What's wrong?"
"Tommy's here!" Max says.
"My Torchic just vanished into thin air," May says, worried.
"So is my, Eevee!" Mew says.
"You're kidding! Quick, let's split up and search the whole ship! Your Pokémon are around here somewhere!" Tommy says
"Okay!" Everyone agrees.
Meanwhile, down in a hole that led to another cargo hold, Team Rocket was recovering from their rough landing.
"Well, that was one blastoff I could've done without," James says, feeling pain in his head.
Meowth says, sarcastically, "Yeah, since dose udder ones are always so much fun, right?"
"Who cares? Where are we?" Jessie says.
"We could look around for an exit sign," James says.
"Good tinking!" Meowth says.
As Team Rocket goes off to search for a way off the ship, the creature from earlier stalks them.
"Maybe, dis way," Mowth says, and looks into one of the passenger cabins.
But Meowth ends up getting caught by the same creature, though his screams did catch his teammates' attention, but they find Meowth gone.
"Hey, where's Meowth?" Jessie asks.
"Behind me, I thought," James says.
Meanwhile, Mew and the others are searching for Torchic and Eevee.
"Eevee!" Mew calls out.
"Torchic!" May calls out.
"Where are you guys?!" Brock calls out.
"Hey, you guys! Where'd you run off to?!" Max calls out.
"Torchic!" Jen calls out.
"May!" Molly calls out.
As Max calls out, the same creature from earlier comes up from the water behind him, Jen, and Molly. They notice it before it grabs them and drags them off, though their screams catch the group's attention.
"Oh, no! Where's Max?!" May cries out.
"Molly and Jen are gone too!" Brock says.
Meanwhile, Max, Jen, and Molly awaken, but find themselves tied up.
Max cries out, "Hey, wait! Where am I?"
"What's going on?" Molly asks.
"What happened?" Jen adds.
Max and the girls turn to see Eevee and Torchic in the same predicament.
"Torchic!" Max cries out.
"Eevee!" Molly calls out.
Suddenly, Meowth's voice appears, "Hey! Dey caught all of yous, too, huh?"
"Meowth?" Jen questions.
"What do you mean caught?" Max asks.
The group soon find themselves tied up and hanging on the ceiling.
Max panics, "So that's what you mean!"
Meanwhile, Mew and the others continue to search for Max and his group.
"First Torchic and Eevee, and now Max, Jen, and Molly. It's weird," May says.
Up ahead, May spots a door with something making it move on the other side. Something that wanted out.
"What's that?" May asks, worried.
The door bursts open and the group gets a big surprise when they see a Marill and two Azurill hop out and past them.
"It's just a Marill and two Azurill," Tommy says.
"This must be their home now," Brock says.
"Well, there's no other place for water Pokemon to live than on an abandoned ship," Tommy says.
"I agree," Mew says.
Meanwhile, the captives were trying to get loose.
"You might as well give it up cause dere's no way any of us are gettin' out of dese treads," Meowth says.
'Why'd this happen to us?" Max says, not too pleased.
"Maybe you weren't smart enough to not get caught," Meowth says, smugly, "
"Hey, you're caught in this silk, too, you know!" Jen says.
"Yeah, well who asked you, anyways?!" Meowth says.
Soon, Molly has an idea, I know! Why don't you use your claws to cut the threads? Maybe a Fury Swipes might work."
"But I can't move my arms or paws," Meowth says.
Then Max suggests, "Maybe you can try your back paws!"
"And what's in it for me?" Meowth questions.
"Cut me loose, and I'll cut you loose. Then the others," Max says.
"Suppose dere's no udder choice," Meowth says.
Meowth reveals his claws, swings, and cuts the threads loose.
"Yeah!" Max cheers.
"Okay. Now it's your toin to get da rest of us down," Meowth says, swinging around.
"Here Jen, let me get you down, then you can help get the rest down," Max says, and begins untying Jen
"Okay," Jen says.
"Just remember to watch your back little twerp," Meowth says.
"Just hold your Horsea, and it's not like anyone else is here," Max says.
Soon, Jen notices something and calls out, "Max, behind you!"
Max turns to see, "Spinarak!"
And in a matter of seconds the little Spinarak mananges to tie Max up again.
Meowth laughs, "Dis is exactly why you always have to watch your back."
Meanwhile, Jessie and James were busy looking for Meowth.
'So where could Meowth have gone?" James asks.
"Seems like it's always something," James says.
Suddenly, a deck box bursts open and startles the pair.
"What's that?" James asks.
A Golduck suddenly leaps out before posing and then walking along past Team Rocket.
Jessie cries out, "Don't ever scare us like that again! Silly Golduck." She then huff, "That showed it," and continues on, "Let's go."
Suddenly, James is grabbed from behind by the same blue creature.
James muffles in fright, "Jessie! Wait! Jessie!'
And soon, James finds himself tied up with the others.
"Well, hello, dere," Meowth says with a smile.
"Glad you decided to hang out with us," Max says.
James cries out, "I'm not here to hang out!"
"Forget about dat pesky twoip and his friends and let me cut your treads so dat you can get loose," Meowth says.
"Now you're talking," James says.
"And the rest of us, too?" Max asks.
But Meowth says, "Are you kidding, I'm not as stupid as I look, you know."
"But what if the Spinarak comes back?" Jen asks.
"We'll fix dat problem when we have to deal wit it," Meowth says.
Meowth prepares to cut the thread
But Max swings back, "Oh no, you're not!"
And at the end, Max slams right into James and Meowth.
Meowth cries out, "Are you nuts?!"
"But I wanted to go first!" Max cries out.
"Well, are you happy now?!" James cries out.
Torchic shouts something, but unfortunately it was muffled by the thread over his mouth.
Elsewhere, Mew and the others continue to search until the creature strikes again, this time snatching May and Tomo.
"May!" Brock cries out.
"Tomo!" Mew cries out.
And soon find them both gone.
"I think they fell in the water!" Mew
Brock then calls out, "Mudkip, go look for May and Tomo!"
Soon, Mudkip comes out of the Pokeball and dives into the water.
"Good thinking using your Mudkip, Brock," Tommy says.
"Yeah," Brock says.
"If I only had my Marshtomp, I could help you look," Tommy says.
Mudkip resurfaces and reports that it didn't find May.
"Nothing?" Mew says.
Tommy soon realizes, "Tell you what, someone or something doesn't appreciate us coming aboard the ship one bit.
"And we're getting picked off, one at a time!" Brock says.
"And whatever it is, can dive underwater," Mew adds.
Soon, May and Tomo find themselves tied up as well with the others.
"Well, well. Hi, twerps," James says.
"So, looks like you're all tied up," Meowth adds.
"I'm not the only one," May says.
"Just like us," Molly says.
May turns to see Max and the others, "Max, Molly, Jen, you're all safe."
"So what happened, May? How'd you both get caught, too?"
"It was right out of the blue," May says.
"Yeah. One minute we were walking with the others, the next thing we knew we were both being pulled into the water," Tomo says.
Then Jen realizes, "That's the same thing that happened to us, something grabbed us and pulled us into the water."
"Well, at least we still have three buddies out there, so I know we'll be rescued sooner or later," Max says.
Jen then says, "I can't say the same for James and Meowth with just Jessie left."
"But Jessie is all we need, drummer goil," Meowth says.
"So, like you, we'll be rescued in no time!" James says.
"Nuttin's too big or bad for Jessie," Mewoth says.
"She'll make mincemeat out of the boogeyman and make it her slave!" James says.
James and Meowth proceed to laugh.
Meanwhile, Jessie was wandering around by herself.
She searches around as she says, "On my lonesome. James and Meowth, where did you go? It's not polite to leave a helpless woman on her own."
A sudden sound spooks Jessie before it's revealed to be just a wild Wooper running around.
"So, you think you're pretty funny, huh?!" Jessie screams in anger before letting out a sigh.
Just then, the creature comes up from behind, prompting her to look back. Soon, she gets captured and tied up, too.
"I guess da mincemeat part was ovah da top. Just like dat bit about a serial killer, huh?" Meowth says, teary eyed.
James nods as tears run down his face.
"Hi, glad you dropped by!" Max says with a smile.
"Yeah. We're all here just hanging around," May says.
And Jessie angrily says, "I'm in no mood for jokes!"
Jessie rams into the others furiously before Meowth ends up coming right back and doin the same.
Each of them scream, "This! Could! Go! On! Forever!"
Soon, Wobbuffet says, "Woooobbuffet!" (You said it!)
Soon, Wobbuffet is also tied up
"And when you aren't defending, you're totally useless," Jessie says, annoyed.
"Woooobbuffet," (Sorry, Jess.) Wobbuffet apologizes.
Meanwhile, the groups were still looking.
"Hey, Max! Tomo!" Tommy calls out.
"May! Jen! Molly!" Brock calls out.
"Torchic! Eevee! Where are you guys?!" Mew calls out.
"Pika Pika! ("Come out, you guys!") Pikachu calls out.
Meloetta calls out, "Loetta!" (Tomo!)
"Skwovet!" (Molly!) Skwovet calls out.
"Amaura! (Jen!) Amaura calls out.
Just then, the creature prepares to strike again. But this time, Pikachu spots its hand and shocks it with a Thunderbolt, forcing it to surface and show itself.
"What's that?" Tommy asks.
"It's a Swampert!" Brock says.
Mew brings out her Pokedex and Dextette says, "Swampert, the Mud Fish Pokémon. A Water and Ground Type. Swampert is the evolved form of Marshtomp. It is able to easily drag large stones weighing over one ton. It is also able to see through murky waters and detect approaching storms with its fin."
"Swampert?" Tommy says, but soon realizes something, "No way!"
The Swampert tries to make its escape.
"Hold on!" Mew calls out.
Everyone gives chase but soon comes to a hole in the floor that was flooded.
"We missed it! It must've jumped in the water!" Tommy says.
"Go follow it, Mudkip," Brock says.
Both Mudkip agree and dive in.
"Come on, let's go, too," Mew says.
The boys agree.
Soon, they're all underwater and finally find another hole in the deck, with an open door over yonder.
"It must be in there," Brock says.
"Yeah," Mew says.
The group soon enters and finds the captives.
Seeing them, May and the others cry out, "They're here!"
"It's the rest of them!" Team Rocket says.
"Hurry, help us out of here!" May calls out.
"Quit your gawking and untie us, right now!" Jessie shouts.
James and Meowth beg, "Pretty please!"
"Team Rocket, what are you three doing here?" Brock asks.
Soon, Mew says, "Let me guess, you three landed here after Pikachu and Eevee blasted you three off."
Team Rocket nods in response.
"Make sense to me," Jen says.
"And I have a feeling that Swampert is the reason why they're in this room," Mew says.
"And a Spinarak," Tomo points out.
Speaking of, the Spinarak crawls forward and stands by Swampert.
Brock calls out, "Mudkip, use Water Gun to cut through those threads."
But before Mudkip can use the attack, Swampert fires a Mud Shot at them.
"Swampert used Mud Shot!" Brock says.
"Alright, I'll battle you!" Mew says and calls out, "Corphish, I choose you!"
And Corphish comes out.
"Use Crab Hammer!" Mew calls out.
Corphish charges in, but ends up missing Swampert and gets smacked by an Iron Tail.
"Iron Tail?!" Tommy says, shocked.
Swampert lands the attack, enough to knock out Corphish.
"Wow, that Swampert can actually use Iron Tail!" Brock says.
"Corphish, return!" Mew says, and recalls Corphish.
Mew turns to Pikachu, "Pikachu, are you ready?"
"Pikachu!" (You know it!) Pikachu says.
But Tommy says, "Hold on!"
"What is it, Tommy?" Mew asks.
"I'm almost certain that Swampert evolved from my Marshtomp," Tommy says.
"Really, are you sure?" Mew asks.
Tommy says, "Well, since I raised that Marshtomp since it hatched. It's just gotta be mine
Tommy approaches the Swampert.
"Careful Tommy, it's been long since you last saw it," Mew says.
Tommy continues approaching Swampert and says, "Swampert. You sure have grown up. It's me, Tommy. You were my Marshtomp. Don't you remember me?"
Swampert suddenly fires another Mud Shot.
Soon, Tommy says, "You must've thought that I abandoned you, huh? And now you hate humans, right? So that's why you've been putting up such an awful fight here! You're trying to keep us from breaking into your home, that it?"
Swampert soon says, "Swampert!" (Leave now!)
"You're right," Mew says, "Swampert is demanding us to leave!"
"Max, what's going on?" May asks.
"You heard what Mew translates," Max says.
Jessie shouts, "Enough!"
'Save us!" James cries out.
"Today, please!" Meowth panics.
Tommy then explains, "You gotta remember, Swampert. It's me, Tommy. When the ship ran aground, everyone was in a panic, remember? And that's when we got separated. I thought for sure you were safe and sound inside your Pokéball, so I left with just my bag. I never meant to abandon you!
"Swamp, Swampert! (Can it, traitor!) Swampert says, not listening.
Mudkip approaches and tries to help convince Swampert to listen.
"Try and remember. You and I have been a team since I was a team and you were just a Mudkipling. Remember all the hard work we did so that you could evolve into a Marshtomp?" Tommy says.
"Swamp, Swampert?" (The, hard work?) Swampert says.
Swampert has a flashback to back when it was a Mudkip, and Tommy was young.
Young Tommy says, "Yeah! Let's go, Mudkip! Fire your Water Gun at those empty cans!"
Mudkip does so.
Young Tommy happily says, "That's great, Mudkip!"
"Mudkip Mud!" (Thank you, Tommy!) Mudkip happily says.
Mudkip soon started to evolve. It morphed until it stood upright and grew longer arms before the glow faded to reveal a new Pokémon.
Young Tommy happily says, "Awesome! Mudkip, you've evolved into a Marshtomp!"
The flashback ends.
Then Tommy says to Swampert, "Don't you remember how excited we were? Huh, Swampert? And how about that Iron Tail you just used? Remember?"
Swampert has another flashback to when it was a Marshtomp attacking a rock for a practice target.
'That was so close! Try using Iron Tail one more time!" Young Tommy says.
The attack finally powers up and Marshtomp destroys the rock.
"Perfect! You're so good!" Young Tommy happily says and hugs Marshtomp, "You got your Iron Tail down, Marshtomp!"
The flashback ends
"I came back to the ship to find you," Tommy says.
Soon, Swampert realizes, "Swampert. Swampert." (You came back. You really did.)
Swampert approaches its old friend.
Tommy hugs Swampert, "I'm so sorry, Swampert. Please forgive me. Can't you and I be a team again, just like before?"
Swampert agrees, "Swampert." (Sure we can.)
"I think they're okay now," Mew says.
"Yeah," Brock says.
In no time, the captives are free.
May stretches her arms, "That's much better!"
Torchic leaps into her arms
"Everything's fine, Torchic," May happily says.
"It's hard to believe that that big old Swampert used to be your Marshtomp, Tommy," Max says.
"I'm really sorry for all the trouble we caused you guys, you know," Tommy apologizes.
Swamper also apologizes, "Swampert." (Me, too.)
"Nah. No trouble at all," Max says.
"It's alright, everything's fine now," Mew says, and is glad to have Eevee back.
Team Rocket also stretches out.
"Ah, we're free at last!" Meowth says.
"And out of those confining silk threads!" James says.
"Anyway, we're not gonna let a Pokémon that big and strong just have its way with us and not catch it, are we?" Jessie says.
"No!" James says.
"Let's go, team!" Meowth says.
Then Jessie calls out, "Let's go, Seviper!"
Seviper then comes out of the Pokeball, everyone is shocked to see it
"If you think that our team's big now…" James says.
"Wait'll we're Swampert size!" Meowth says.
Then Jessie calls out, "Seviper, Poison Tail!"
Seviper then throws the attack.
Then Tommy calls out, "Let's go, Swampert!"
"Swampert leaps into battle and easily overpowers Seviper.
"Is that it, Seviper?" Jessie asks, meekly.
"Wobbuffet." (That's not good.) Wobbuffet says, worried.
Then Tommy calls out, "Swampert, use Hydro Pump!"
Swampert then fires the attack at Team Rocket sending them out through the ship and blasting off once more.
"This makes two flights in one day," Jessie says.
"I think this is starting to get old, even though it's part of the show,' James says.
"And we're gettin too old for dis, at least by cartoon standards," Meowth says.
"Speak for yourself! I'm not old!" Jessie cries out.
Wobbuffet cries out, "Woooobbuffet!" (We're blasting off again!)
"Awesome!" Mew says.
"Your Swampert was great," May says.
"Thank you," Tommy says.
Then turns to Swampert, "Swampert, you are great.
