Episode 25: A Corphish Out of Water

One day, Mew is polishing her pokeballs, "The Pokeballs are looking good as new."

The Pokémon happily respond while the others either wake up or get breakfast)

"This must be really serious. She's usually the first one to breakfast," May says.

Brock says, "Yeah, but he's got the right idea. Pokéballs are an important tool for Pokémon trainers."

"Maybe you should be following Mew's example. It couldn't hurt," Max says.

"You're right, but I can think of something that will hurt," May says.

Mew finishes polishing one of his Pokéballs.

Soon, Mew's Corphish walks over to a piece of seaweed and starts to eat it. Mew is quick to notice that a rope is tied to the end and a buoy is tied to the rope, everyone else notices as well and sweat drops.

"Oh, wow. And you guys thought my Wurmple was bad," May says.

"Can't be much nutritional benefits eating rope and wood," Max says.

Mew rushes over, "Stop, Corphish! That's not food, you're gonna get sick!"

"Pika Pika! ("Spit it out, fast!") Pikachu says.

"Eevee! Eevee!" (You'll get a tummy ache!) Eevee adds.

Corphish realizes that the rope wasn't pulling into its mouth anymore, but after tugging on it hard enough, the rope snapped and almost hit Mew. Luckily, she dodge just in time.

"Are you okay, Mew?" Jen asks

"I'm good," Mew says.

Corphish walks on past them.

"It's got character," Brock says.

"Yeah," Max says.

"Character's another word for troublemaker," May says.

"No kidding!" Tomo says.

Soon, the other Pokémon are introduced to Mew's Corphish.

"Guys, I want you to meet your new teammate, Corphish, so let's all say hi," Mew says.

All the Pokémon out say hello, and Corphish proceeds to bonk them all on the head with its claws.

"Hey, what do you think you're doing?!" May cries out tends to Wurmple, Aron, and Torchic before turning back to Corphish, "You're never gonna make friends like that!"

"I think you got it wrong. That's how Corphish say hello," Brock says.

"Is it really?" May asks.

Everyone is soon eating, all except May.

Tomo asks, "Hey, how come you're not eating, May? Not hungry?"

"Yeah, I've never known you to pass up on one of Brock's breakfast," Max says.

"It's just that I'm worried cause Wurmple isn't eating," May says.

Mew and Tomo look over and see Wurmple fast asleep while May checks on it.

"What's the matter, Wurmple? Is your tummy hurting you?" May asks.

Wurmple shakes its head.

"You should try and eat something, you've gotta keep up your strength," May says.

Scatterbug pushes her food over to May's Wurmple.

"Thanks Scatterbug, but you should eat too," May says.

Torchic and Aaron offer some of its food as well, but Wurmple refuses.

Then, Corphish comes in and eats both plates of food.

May cries out, "Hey, knock it off, Corphish! That food belongs to my Pokemon and Mew's Scatterbug!"

"No, Corphish! It's not right to steal things!" Mew cries out.

Suddenly, from out of nowhere, a mechanical arm and clamp snares Pikachu and Eevee, catching everyone off-guard.

"Pikachu! Eevee!" Mew cries out

Everyone looks up as Team Rocket laughs in triumph up in their balloon. Of course it's them, and they are holding Corphish claws.

"Da right to steal belongs to us!" Meowth says.

With that, they begin their motto.

Jessie:

Prepare for trouble from me in a Corphish disguise!

James:

Make it double, isn't that a surprise?

Jessie:

To protect the world from devastation.

James:

To unite all peoples within our nation.

Jessie:

To denounce the evils of truth and love.

James:

To extend our reach to the stars above.

Jessie:

Jessie.

James:

James.

Jessie:

Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light.

James:

Surrender now, or prepare to fight, fight, fight!

Meowth:

Dat's right!

Wobbuffet:

Wobbu! (And cut!)

"Team Rocket!

"Give back Pikachu and Eevee!

"Corphish!" (Right now!) Corphish adds.

"Your request is denied," Meowth says.

Pikachu and Eevee try to shock his way out of his cage, but to no avail.

"Your electric attacks won't work in there," Jessie says.

"We've taken the usual anti-electric precautions," James says.

"Bettah to be safe den sorry!" Meowth says.

"Wobbu!" (And how!) Wobbuffet says.

"Now it's safe to say so long!" Meowth shouts.

The balloon floats upward.

"Hey, get back here!" Mew shouts.

May turns to her Pokemon, "Wurmple, think you can battle Team Rocket?"

Wurmple lazily agrees

"Go, Wurmple, String Shot, now!" May says.

Wurmple's silk manages to grab the frame holding the basket to the balloon, worrying Team Rocket as it pulls them forward a bit.

"We'll help too, Scatterbug, String Shot too!" Mew calls out.

Scatterbug also performs String Shot, and grabs the basket as well.

Everyone grabs the string shots and pulls, "Pull!"

"Hey! What's the big idea?!" Jessie cries out.

"Yeah, dis time we stole Pikachu and Eevee away from you fair and square!" Meowth shouts.

"And now we'd like to leave with no strings attached!" James says.

"Wobbuffet!" (That's the truth! ) Wobbuffet adds.

Meowth puts on more hot air, "We gotta try gettin higha!"

Corphish then begins to reach the String Shot.

Seeing it, Mew cries out, "Wait Corphish, your claws will…"

Right on cue, Corphish cuts the line, sending our heroes into a tumble while Team Rocket and their balloon get flung away to a crash landing.

"Looks like another blast off!" Team Rocket cries out.

"Wobbuffet! (Brace yourselves!)

The balloon crashes in the distance with thud.

"Snap and the balloon will be sent crashing," Mew says, dumbfounded.

May glares at Corphish, "Thanks, Corphish! Whose side are you on? Just when we finally captured Team Rocket, you had to go and cut them free."

"Don't give Corphish a hard time," Brock says.

"Brock's right. Corphish was trying to help, it's not his fault he has claws," Mew says.

"That's true," Jen says.

Then Mew says, "Anyway, let's go rescue Pikachu and Eevee! Come on, everyone!"

Everyone and their Pokemon run off in the direction of Team Rocket's crash with everyone else following.

At said crash site…

"Do our plans always have to end in disaster?" Jessie asks,

"Usually, but this time, we got away with Pikachu and Eevee," James says.

"Dis is gonna be a day dat goes down in Team Rocket history!" Meowth says.

"Wobbuffet! ("At long last!") Wobbuffet says.

Soon, Mew's voice shouts, "There they are! Let's get em!"

Team Rocket looks and sees the cavalry coming in, and screams, "The twerps!"

Pikachu and Eevee happily cry out, "Mew!)"

Mew calls out, "Corphish, use Bubble Beam!"

The attack lands, sending Team Rocket flying one way, and Eevee and Pikachu's cage another.

Meowth: Dere goes history! " Meowth panics.

Pikachu! Eevee!" Mew calls out and reaches towards the cage.

"No, you don't! Go, Cacnea!" James calls out.

Cacnea comes out, but hugs James instead.

"No! Don't get me, get them!" James cries out.

Jessie then calls out, "Seviper, bring that caged Pikachu and Eevee back!"

Seviper materializes and catches the cage with the tip of its tail.

"Oh, no!" Molly calls out.

Then May calls out, "Wurmple, use String Shot to help Pikachu and Eevee!"

Wurmple comes out, and manages to grab the cage with its silk, allowing May, Max and Brock to get in position to pull, which, this time, they manage to do so, to Team Rocket's surprise.

"Pikachu! Eevee!" Mew calls out and catches the cage, "You both okay?!"

Pikachu and Eevee answer with a nod.

May says to her Wurmple, "Thanks, Wurmple, you're the best."

Wumrple lazily says, "Wurmple." (Thank you.)

But Jessie angrily says, "MY Wurmple's best! It's gotta be cuter than your little runt by at least a hundred times! No, make it a million times cuter than your Wurmple!""

May: What? A million times?" May questions.

"See for yourself. Have a look at my cute little Wurmply-poo. We'll see who's best," Jessie says and calls out her Pokemon. Come out, Wurmple!"

Jessie's Wumple comes out.

Jessie admires it, "Yep! See those beautiful eyes and those plump mandibles? The tail spikes are perfectly aligned. It's the ultimate, it's a superstar! Appropriate that a star Pokémon should belong to a star actress like me."

"You're a star?" Max says, confused.

"Every Wurmple I've ever seen looks the same to me," Brock says.

But May says, "I disagree with her. You'd have a hard job finding a Wurmple that's cuter than mine."

This makes Jessie irate, "You obviously don't know what you're talking about because your Wurmple is a nobody and mine happens to be a big celebrity! Look at it! Shining like a superstar!"

As Jessie says shining, she notices her Wurmple totally glowing and screams in response.

James and Meowth say in shock, "Huh? Whoa!"

"She's right, it is shining," May says.

Right as May talks, her own Wurmple starts to glow, too, and some of the group take notice quickly.

"And so it mine!" May says, shocked.

Soon, Mew notices her Scatterbug running around like crazy.

"Scatterbug, what's wrong?" Mew asks.

Scatterbug then stops running as it cries and glows with the two Wurmple.

"May, Mew, that shining must mean…" Max says.

"That Wurmple is about to evolve right here!" Brock says.

"Same with Scatterbug!" Jen says.

"Evolve?!" Tomo says, surprised.

Both Wurmple morph until they become cocoons with eyes.

Mew's Scatterbug is now a cocoon-like Pokémon mostly hidden by sharp white fur with square particles of red, black, and pale yellow in and around the fur. Poking out of the top of its fur is its large, round head. The head is light gray in the back with a darker gray face. There is a beige dot over each eye and the face is bisected by a thin, black line that ends in a beige triangle at the top of the head. Its eyes are also beige with square, black pupils.

"Hey! Look at that!" Mew says.

She then brings out her Pokedex, Dextette says, "Silcoon, the Cocoon Pokémon. A Bug Type. Silcoon is an evolved form of Wurmple. Using its thread to attach itself to a tree branch, it waits to evolve to its next stage. When it grows thirsty, it drinks the dew that collects on its string."

Jessie and May happily says, "This is awesome! My Wurmple evolved into a Silcoon!"

Both pick up their new Pokémon.

"Tell me, what could be more appropriate, huh? A beautiful Silcoon for a beautiful trainer," Jessie says.

"Wobbu Wobbuffet!" (Jess, that's no Silcoon!) Wobbuffet says.

James and Meowth see Jessie's 'Silcoon' giving them an angry look and then look at May's Silcoon.

Mew then picks up her new Pokemon, "And you evolved into a Spewpa."

Dextette says, "Spewpa, the Scatterbug Pokemon, and the evolved form of Scatterbug. A Bug Type. It lives hidden within thicket shadows. When predators attack, it quickly bristles the fur covering its body in an effort to threaten them."

"That's really cool, May," Tomo says.

"Congrats," Brock says.

"Thanks a lot, guys," May says.

Then May says to Mew, "And congrats for your pokemon evolving."

James and Meowth notices that May's Silcoon has a more relaxed and lazier look in its eyes.

They also notice that they are a little different. May's Silcoon is covered in white silk and a pair of red eyes but they are partially hidden by a rough fringe of silk.

Jessie's 'Silcoon is covered in purple silk, and the red eyes are fully visible.

James and Meowth sweat drops to realize that Jessie's Pokemon evolved into a different Pokemon than May's, meaning it's not a Silcoon at all.

James nods, "Fine!"

"Enough of dis boidling, let's get Pikachu and Eevee!" Meowth says.

"I agree! Go, Cacnea!" James says.

Cacnea charges

"Oh, no you don't!" Mew says, "Corphish, Crab Hammer attack!"

Corphish charges in and nails Cacnea hard.

"Now, Pikachu, Eevee, Thunderbolt, go!" Mew calls out.

Pikachu and Eevee charge and launches the attack hard enough to send Team Rocket flying

"We're blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.

"Yeah, we did it!" Max and Tomo cheer.

"Corphish, Pikachu, and Eevee totally rock!" May says.

Suddenly, Corphish collapses.

"What's the matter, Corphish?" Mew cries out.

Pikachu and Eevee ask if Corphish is okay.

Brock feels its head, "It's got a terrible fever, Mew! We've gotta get it to the Pokémon Center right away!"

"Right, I'll just put it back in its Pokéball," Mew says, but realizes something, "Wait a sec…" and screams, "Oh, no! We left all the Pokéballs behind!"

"Corphish, hang in there, buddy," Max says.

"Poor Corphish," Molly says, worried.

And May asks, "What are we gonna do now?"

"There isn't enough time for us to go back for the Pokéballs," Mew says, but has an idea, "I know what to do!"

"What's your idea, Mew?" Tomo asks.

"I'll carry it to the Pokémon Center!" Mew says.

Everyone is baffled and surprised by this decision

Max cries out, "Are you crazy?! Do you know how far it is to the nearest Pokémon Center?"

"I can make it," Mew says

Mew says, "Treecko, Taillow, Spewpa, I want you two to go with the others back to the campsite and wait for me there."

The three agree.

"Pikachu? Eevee? Ready?" Mew asks.

The Pokemon agree.

Then the three rush away.

"Just be careful, guys," Brock says.

Mew, Pikachu, and Eevee soon start climbing a mountain, "The Pokémon Center in Dewford Town is just over this mountain, Corphish! Hold on tight until we get there!"

Steam starts to come off of Corphish

"Its fever's getting worse! This is serious! I've got to try and cool Corphish down," Mew says.

Mew sees the water before using a leaf to scoop some up.

"Corphish, drink some of this cold water. Here," Mew says.

Corphish drinks some and the steam stops.

"That's great. It already seems like you're getting better, huh?" Mew says.

"Pika Pika. (It sure seems like it.) Pikachu says.

Soon, Mew's stomach is growling, "Oh, no. And now I'm starving cause, thanks to Team Rocket, we didn't even get to eat our breakfast."

Soon, Eevee spots something, "Eevee!" (Mew, look!) and points to what she sees.

"What is it?" Mew asks.

And looks to see a tree with Pecha berries growing on it.

Mew walks to the tree, "A Pecha berry tree! Thanks, Eevee, just what we needed! (starts picking some berries, "Here you go, buddy," and gives Pikachu and Eevee some.

They both say, "(Thank you!)

"Let's eat!" Mew says.

Mew feels something touch her foot and looks down to see a Shroomish.

"Hey little guy, you hungry?" Mew asks.

Shroomish nods.

Mew picks a Pecha Berry and gives it to Shroomish, "Here you go."

Shroomish says, "Shroomish. (Thank you.) And begin to eat.

Once they finish eating, Mew picks up Corphish and continues going with Pikachu and Eevee. Shroomish says goodbye to the group as it walks away.

Back at the campsite, Brock is stirring up some stew.

"Do you think Mew made it to the Pokémon Center, yet?" Brock asks.

"They oughta be there by now. I hope Corphish is gonna be okay," Max says.

"Me, too. Corphish may be a bit wild, but I think that it means well," Brock says

"Are we talking about the same Corphish? I don't know about that," May replies.

"I'm sure Corphish didn't mean to," Jen says.

Meanwhile, the Mew, Pikachu and Eevee reach the river.

"Hey, I see it! That's Dewford Town!" Mew says.

"Pika!" (Alright!) Pikachu says.

Mew walks into the river, "Almost there. Hang in there, Corphish."

They all soon start to cross the river when suddenly, a school of Carvanha attack, forcing them all back onto the riverbank

Mew gets out her Pokedex, "That's a Carvanaha, the pre-evolved form of Sharpedo."

Dextette says, "Carvanha, the Savage Pokémon. A Water and Dark Type. Carvanha have powerful jaws and razor-sharp teeth able to chew through solid steel. Carvanha will form packs and attack invaders in their territory."

"That's just great. And there isn't even a bridge around here," Mew says.

Eevee soon spots something, "Eevee!" (Mew) and points to what he found.

"A boat!" Mew says.

Mew then begins rowing the boat across the river. Of course, the Carvanaha come out and try to attack the boat.

Mew says to Pikachu and Eevee, "Guys, use Thunderbolt!"

Pikachu and Eevee use Thunderbolt on the Carvanaha pack and get shocked.

"Good job, now's our chance!" Mew says and continues roaring the boat.

Suddenly, the water starts bubbling. Mew and her Pokemon are shocked. More of the Carvanha pack goes on the attack, and they start eating the boat.

"Hey! Knock it off!" Mew cries out.

Mew quickly rows the boat back to shore and they jump off.

However, one of the Carvanha manages to cut his finger while pulling his hand away from the mouth of it.

Eevee asks in concern, "Eevee Eevee?" (What do we do?!)

"We just have to get across that river," Mew says.

(Corphish starts to sound weaker.

"Corphish, you gotta hang on!" Mew says, worried.

"Pika Pika! ("Please hang in there!") Pikachu says.

We have to find a bridge. Come on, let's go now!" Mew says.

Pikachu, Eevee, and Mew do just that.

Mew searches around, "Where is it? A bridge. Where's a bridge?"

They soon see one in the distance.

"Yeah!" Mew says.

"However, as they approached, they end up seeing that the bridge was out.

"Oh, no! It's broken!" Mew says, shocked.

"Well, there's only one way to get to Dewford Town," Mew says.

"Pika." (I guess.) Pikachu says.

Eevee says, "Eevee." (Seems so.

"We're gonna have to wade through the river," Mew says.

Pikachu and Eevee agree.

Soon, Mew starts wading through the river towards the other side as she carries Pikachu, Eevee, and Corphish on a slab of wood. Just then, Mew sees the Carvanaha pack coming their way. Mew continues to walk across the river as fast as she can.

She then stops and says, "Pikachu, Eevee, go ahead and jump to shore!"

Both Pikachu and Eevee do so as the Carvanha close in.

"Okay, use Thunderbolt to stop the Carvanha from getting closer!" Mew says.

Pikachu and Eevee fire the attack and hit the pack.

"Good job, you two! Just keep em shocked just a little longer!" Mew says.

Pikachu and Eevee pour on the juice, but more Carvanha come in from the other side.

Mew cries out, "Pikachu, Eevee, they're coming from the other side, now!"

Both Pikachu focus their attacks, however, some Carvanha attack Mew from the rear. Carvanah continue charging at Mew with force while Corphish is forced to watch.

" I won't let anything happen to you, Corphish! I promise! You just try and stay strong!" Mew says.

Suddenly, a Carvanha comes in and nails Pikachu and Eevee before heading back into the water.

"Pikachu! Eevee!" Mew calls out.

More Carvanha go on the attack.

However, Corphish musters up all its strength and fires a Bubble Beam at the Carvanha on both sides.

"Good job," Mew says.

Finally, Mew makes it to the other side before sprawling out on the ground in relief.

"Hey, Pikachu, Eevee, you were great," Mew says.

"Pika Pika," (So was Corphish.) Pikachu says.

"You, too, Corphish, that was a close one, huh?" Mew says.

Corphish agrees, but collapses from the fever.

Later, as the sun sets, Mew and her Pokemon have reached the Pokemon Center and are able to get treated.

"Everything's okay now. After a goodnight's sleep, Corphish will be fighting fit, Mew!" Nurse Joy says

"Well, that's a relief. Thank you," Mew says.

Then Nurse Joy asks, "But, anyway, why would it eat something like that?"

Mew, Pikachu and Eevee look over to see the buoys Corphish has eaten earlier that day.

Mew sheepishly says, "Uh... It's, just that... I, uh... Well, I... I don't know."

Back at the campsite, some of the gang was sitting by the fire while others were going to bed, when some of them suddenly hears a noise.

"What was that? Did anyone hear that?" May asks.

"I did," Brock says.

"Sounded like an Aron to me," Brock says.

"Whatever it is, it's over there!" Max says.

Everyone looks in the direction Max is pointing, but sees nothing. They soon begin to go over to investigate.

"Brock, I thought Aron are Pokémon that live inside caves," Max says.

"You're right, they're supposed to," Brock says.

"So, why did we hear one on the beach?" May wonders.

Soon, Molly notices something and points ahead, "What is that?"

Everyone looks and sees something hiding behind some rocks

Brock picks up the object, "A tape recorder."

"That's weird," Max says.

"Who would leave something like that on a beach?" Tomo wonders.

Just then, cages came up out of the sand and trapped them all, save for Taillow, prompting Team Rocket to come out of hiding.

"Aha!" Team Rocket shouts.

Jessie says, "Pikachu and Eevee are now the property of Team Rocket!"

"Now we should go prepare for our big promotion!" James says.

Brock and the others shout, "What do you want?"

Team Rocket realize they caught the wrong people.

"Hold on! We got a problem! Dere's no Pikachu! Or Eevee!" Meowth says.

"Too bad for you! Mew, Eevee, and Pikachu went out on their own!" May says.

"What?! Since when?!" Jessie asks.

Then James realizes, "I get it! That's why only two of our traps were activated!"

James steps his foot down and activates the third cage, shocking all three of them

"Now it's three!" Team Rocket cries out.

Treecko tries breaking the cage it's in with its tail, but to no avail.

"Won't woik! You're wasting your time wit dose Pound attacks!" Meowth says.

"That's right! These cages are designed to be impossible to open from the inside," James says.

"Maybe you shouldn't be so proud of that feature!" May says.

"Please! Do you have any idea how much this trap design cost?" Jessie cries out.

"You should've spent it on designing a way out," May says.

As May and Jessie bicker, the tide starts to come in.

Meanwhile, at the Pokémon Center, Mew is sleeping next to Corphish with Pikachu and Eevee.

Meanwhile, Brock realized what was going on, "Oh, no! The tide's starting to come in!"

Everyone in the cages worries.

"What are we gonna do now?" Max cries out.

"We'll drown in these cages!" May panics.

"There's gotta be a way out," Brock says, and looks at the tape recorder, "Aha! That's it!" He looks up, looks up to Taillow circling the cage he's in.

The next day, at the Pokemon Center, Corphish is feeling a lot better.

"Corphish, you look so much better!" Mew says.

Suddenly, Taillow flies in with the tape recorder.

"Hey, Taillow, what is it? "Mew asks.

Taillow lands and shows everyone the tape recorder.

"A tape recorder?" Nurse Joy says, confused.

Mew takes the tape recorder and begins to play it.

Soon, Mew hears Brock's voice through the recorder, "Mew, you gotta help us! Team Rocket's got us trapped in cages on the beach, and the tide's coming in!"

Then hear Max's voice, "Hurry! Before we're underwater!"

"Come help us!" May cries out.

"Hurry!" Jen cries out.

"I don't know how long we can hold on!" Jen cries out.

"We'll drown!" Molly cries out.

Then hears Jessie's voice, "Oh, quit sniveling!"

And hears James and Meowth's voices, "Help us!"

The recording ends

"Oh! That's terrible!" Nurse Joy says, worried.

"Let's go!" Mew says.

Pikachu and Eevee agree.

Meanwhile, the cages are partly submerged with just the tops popping out while everyone calls for help.

"I can't hang on, anymore!" May panic.

"Don't give up yet, May!" Max says.

Suddenly, they see Mew's Corphish charged towards them.

"Corphish!" Brock calls out.

Right behind Corphish is a speedboat, commandeered by Nurse Joy, with Mew onboard while Taillow flies alongside.

"Is everyone okay?!" Nurse Joy calls out.

Mew then calls out, "Corphish, Crab Hammer, now!"

Corphish uses the attack and smashes each of the cages and frees the captives of each. Later, Team Rocket is actually seen bowing in grateful thanks.

"Thank you so much," Jessie says.

"We offer you our most humble and heartfelt gratitude," James says.

"We will be indebted to yous all for da rest of our lives!" Meowth adds.

Then Jessie says, "Okay, that's enough of that!"

"We are criminals, after all!" James says

"So, we'll tank you with an attack!" Meowth says

Pikachu says, sweating drops, "Pika?" (Really?)

"Vee," (Sheesh) Eevee says, sweating drops.

"I have enough of you, Thunder!" Mew says.

Both Pikachu and Eevee zap Team Rocket.

Mew then calls out, "Go, Corphish, Bubble Beam!"

Corphish then fires the attack, causing an explosion, and sends Team Rocket flying.

Team Rocket cries out, "Team Rocket's blasting off again!"

"We did it!" Mew cheers.

Brock says to Nurse Joy, "Nurse Joy, how can I ever thank you for saving my life?" And takes her hands, "A romantic, candlelit dinner, just the two of us?"

Nurse Joy chuckles sheepishly, "Well…"

Mew then takes Brock from the ear and says, "Even after dealing with a crisis, you try to act like a hopeless romantic."

"Not the ear!" Brock cries out.

Max then says to Corphish, "Thank you, Corphish. You really saved us."

"I always knew you were nice way deep down," May says.

Corphish soon starts bonking Max, May and Brock with its claws.

"I think you need to work on how to show affection, "Max says.

"Yeah, Corphish, Max is right. Sometimes less is more," May says.
