Practically speed walking through the castle, Visenya rushed to get Aegon from his chambers. The faster they left Winterfell, the faster they could stop Daenerys from doing something she regretted. Not only did she worry for her sister on the fact that she was walking into a trap, but she worried for Jon as well. Even though Jon was being manipulated by Daenerys, she didn't want either of them to die.
She had little family left.
She threw open the door to Aegon's chambers to find him, Mira, and Helaena, still not moving from their positions, admiring the two dragons.
"You need to fly with me to Dragonstone." Visenya explained.
"Why?" Aegon asked. "I don't understand? I thought you didn't want to help Daenerys conquer King's Landing."
"I don't, but she and your brother are practically walking into a trap, and are going to face the Iron Fleet no sooner they reach Blackwater." She quickly began. "We need to stop her from walking into a trap, and from doing something she will regret in the future...if she comes to rule."
Aegon nodded as he quickly rushed out of the room, to gather things he may need on the journey. A sad look came on Visenya's face as she looked over Helaena. A million emotions ran through her mind. If Daenerys had already figured out that a trap was coming, and was well onto King's Landing, Visenya knew there was no coming back. She was either going to come back to Helaena alive, or she would come back to Helaena in pieces and dead.
Visenya carefully kneeled in front of Helaena, who immediately crawled to her mother. No sooner she was within arms length, Visenya took her into her arms, and held onto her tightly, not wanting to let her go. All she wanted was for Helaena to grow up in a version of Westeros, that Ned Stark always dreamed of, and in order for that to happen...she had to leave her.
And the thought of leaving her, pained Visenya to no end.
"Avy jorrāelan. (I love you.)" She whispered to the small child, closing her eyes, savoring the moment, knowing it could potentially be one of the last times she may see her.
"I will guard her with my life, Your Grace." Mira explained, understanding how Visenya felt. "She will be my only priority."
"Mira, you've been more of a friend and advisor more so than my handmaiden...even then, I consider you as my sister." Visenya began, giving the woman a sad smile. "I think it's time for you to call me Visenya."
Mira's eyes widened. "But Your Grace I-"
"You're family Mira." Visenya smiled. "You always have been, and you always will be."
With tears forming in her eyes, Mira reached over to Visenya, engulfing her into a hug. Mira had considered Visenya to be more of her best friend than employer. Mira couldn't even begin to describe how much she cared for Visenya, and Visenya couldn't begin to explain or describe how much she cared for Mira.
As she carefully handed Helaena to Mira, Visenya carefully got up from the floor, and started to head out of the room, but not before she glanced back to look over the both of them one final time, knowing in her heart that she may never see either of them again.
After quickly changing into the overcoat she used for flying, and after grabbing Dawn and Dark Sister, she ventured into the Courtyard where she found Aegon waiting for her.
"I have informed Lady Sansa of our travels, and she informed me that Arya has left as well." Aegon explained as the two began to walk through the Courtyard.
"She probably went after Sandor." Visenya mused quietly.
"Where're you two going?" Jaime called to them making the two of them stop in their tracks.
Both were frozen and looked to the other, trying to see who'd turn around first and break.
"If we run, we could make it to the dragons." Aegon began.
"He'd probably find a way to shoot me out of the sky if I did that." She replied.
"She's right, I would." Jaime immediately replied making Visenya turn around, which is when she noticed he had his sword with him.
"I know where you two are going...Olenna informed me." He began as he walked toward Visenya. "I'm coming with the both of you...King's Landing is going to be a mess when it falls, and Cersei won't be the easiest to draw out."
"She'll kill you if she finds out you are in the city." Visenya countered.
He sighed. "And if you go by yourself, she will kill you, no sooner you set foot into it...and I will not allow it to happen...to either of you. I'm coming with you."
With a shake of her head, Visenya and Aegon reluctantly agreed to allow for Jaime to accompany them to Dragonstone, but in the back of all their minds, they all knew it was either going to be successful that they were all going together, or horrible in itself.
In Visenya's mind, she feared what the reaction might be when she, Jaime, and Aegon arrived on the shores of Dragonstone. Based upon how her previous interactions with Daenerys went...probably not pleasant.
Seeing as a taking a Galley would be difficult to intercept, Visenya and Aegon both decided that the fastest and most convenient way was to fly there. Once Visenya was mounted onto Sunspear's back she turned towards Aegon...and Jaime, who was clutching onto Aegon for dear life.
"Ready?" She asked with a smirk.
"Always." Aegon confirmed with a nod.
Jaime shook his head in fear. "No."
She shook her head in amusement. "You better hold on, Aegonar's fast."
The man's eyes widened. "Why can't I ride with you?"
"Because you and I both know Sunspear won't allow it." She countered, before looking ahead. "Sōvēs. (Fly.)"
Sunspear, who's wounds healed pretty well in the short period of time that had occurred, immediately took to the skies, leaving behind the snowy Northern Tundra for the first time in a few months. Visenya knew that The Gold Queen would be happy to get out of the North, as she hated it. Aegonar on the other hand didn't care, as long as Visenya was near him. That's when she wondered about Whitefyre and Vermithrox. They were Sunspear's children...but at the same time, she wondered if either dragon would hate the snow just as much as she did, or love it just as much as Aegonar did.
In the back of her mind, Visenya knew it wouldn't take very long to reach Dragonstone, in fact, it would take a few hours, whether if they took a Galley, it would take at least a week, if not more depending on how rough the seas were. Sunspear was able to fly this route with ease, the only thing they had to worry about was if they encountered any storms along the way.
Sunspear hated flying in the storms...and if it was raining, she wouldn't fly at all.
It was in times like those, where Visenya, Jaime, and Mira, all compared the she-dragon to that of a black cat, rather than a dragon...or more so even compared her to a princess. They all knew she wasn't like her brother, as he brother could care less.
But what surprised Visenya even more was the fact at how well Sunspear was flying even with the given injuries she sustained. She was flying like she had never been attacked by The Night King and Viserion, almost like she was completely unfazed by the entire thing.
That completely showed that she was Visenya's dragon.
Unfazed by an injury...just like Visenya would be.
Within a few hours, they flew over Blackwater Bay, and much to Visenya's surprise, there was no indication that there was a blockade near Dragonstone. Within a few moments, Dragonstone came into view, and that's when she saw multiple galley's present within the harbor. After carefully guiding Sunspear to land on the bridge, Aegon did the same, and landed Aegonar a few feet behind Sunspear.
No sooner the two dragons landed, Jon practically came running out of the castle to meet them. Visenya frowned in confusion, as she saw her nephew practically running towards them. After she quickly dismounted Sunspear, she carefully walked up to Jon.
"Where is she? Where are her dragons?" She asked in confusion.
"She has gone to King's Landing." Jon explained. "Euron Greyjoy and the Iron Fleet ambushed us on our way back here...they shot Rhaegal down into The Narrow Sea."
Visenya closed her eyes and sighed. They were too late.
"She's going to sack King's Landing?" She asked with slight fear.
He shook his head. "No, she is going to retrieve Missandei. She is Cersei's prisoner."
"So who is left here?" She frowned.
"Myself, Varys, Davos, and a few Unsullied." Jon explained before looking to Aegon and Jaime who were climbing off of Aegonar.
No sooner he reached the ground, Jaime began to kiss it. Aegon turned around in disbelief.
"What're you doing?" Aegon asked in confusion.
The man quickly got up and looked his nephew in the eyes. "I am never flying with you again."
"It wasn't that bad!" Aegon called as he watched Jaime walk up to Visenya and Jon.
"Never again." Jaime started to Visenya. "I felt like I was going to fall off."
"That's how I felt for the first time riding Rhaegal." Jon smiled in amusement. "You get use to it."
Rolling her eyes in amusement, she walked past her nephew and into Dragonstone, in search of Varys. After wandering down various hallways and corridors, she eventually found him in the library.
"One for the ancient Targaryen texts?" Visenya questioned as she walked in.
The man turned around and gave her a nod. "Indeed. I always have been."
"I guess that comes with the territory of being Master of Whispers." Visenya mused as she sat down at the desk that she once considered hers when she lived there.
"I've served tyrants most of my life." Varys began. "They all tend to talk about destiny."
Visenya nodded. "My sister is a woman they say walked through fire with three stones, and walked out with three dragons. How could she not believe in destiny?"
"Pehaps that's the problem?" Varys asked. "Her life convinced her that she was sent here to save us all. But yet you brought the Conqueror's dream to life. The Prince Who Was Promised Will Bring the Dawn...and you did just that."
"Not like I ever thought I would." She mused.
"Then there's the problem of Jon Snow, and Aegon." Varys continued. "Perhaps it's actually a solution. You know them all. Tell me, who do you think would make a better ruler? Your sister or your nephews?"
"Neither of my nephews want the throne." She countered.
Varys leaned forward. "Then why did Jon Snow bend the knee and betray you?"
"Because he was blinded by my sister's beauty." She explained.
"He named you Queen, and yet here you are, not wanting the throne." Varys continued. "Have you considered the best ruler might be someone who doesn't want to rule?"
Her eyes widened. "You've thought about usurping my sister?"
He nodded. "I've thought of it many times. Both of your nephews and yourself are temperate and measured. You all are more appealing to the Lords of Westeros, whose support we will need."
"What are you suggesting?" She asked with a frown. "That I annul my marriage to Jaime and marry both my nephews? Completely ignore the child I had with him?"
"No." Varys shook his head. "You're too strong for them. You can stand alone by yourself. Your sister has already begun to bend Jon Snow to her will. Tyrion think's that he could temper her worst impulses, but I explained that even he couldn't do the impossible."
"They would conflict with each other." She sighed. "And Aegon is nothing like her."
"I believe I have made a great mistake." Varys sighed. "I will never betray the of people, many of whom will die if the wrong person sits on that throne. We don't know their names, but they're just as real as you and I. They deserve to live. They deserve food for their children. I will act in their interest, no matter the personal cost."
"What are you suggesting, Lord Varys?" Visenya asked in disbelief. "That I assassinate my sister?"
"I've spoken as honestly as I can. Each of us has a choice to make. I pray we choose wisely" Varys sighed before he walked out of the study, leaving Visenya to ponder her thoughts.
She'd never murder her own sister.
While they never got along, she'd never do that to her family.
However, she did feel like it was her responsibility to steer her on the correct path going forward.
