"Mmm, I can't believe I get to kiss you like this for the rest of my life," Jack smiled at Lisa, his face just inches from her. He cupped her face and kissed her again softly.
"This? This right here, just like this?" Lisa teased at him, gesturing to where they were now standing. "You plan to kiss me like that, almost senseless," she smirked and gestured with her hand, "against a door for the rest of your life?"
"You know what I mean," he said quietly, pecking her lips this time. "Almost surreal to think that yes, I get to kiss my beautiful wife each and every day for the rest of my life, yes. This spot," he grinned as the two stood at the door to their room, just now inside the room and finally alone, "it had just been so long since I'd last kissed you today that as soon as we were alone here in the room, I had to kiss you again."
"You kissed me before we got out of the car here," she teased. "That's not been that long. With me braced here," she giggled, "by the door-hmm, I can think of much better locations." Instead of moving away from the door, Lisa snaked her arm up around Jack's shoulders and both smiled into their next kiss. As their kisses intensified, Lisa started to pull Jack's jacket from his shoulders. He started to shrug out of it, but both paused mid-kiss at a knock at the door.
The two locked eyes, not that there was much space between them, and Lisa smirked as Jack sighed and finished shrugging out of his suit jacket before he stepped back to answer the door. He handed his jacket to her and sighed loudly. Lisa took a step to the side, off the door, to move out of the way. Jack threw a smirk at her when she started to chuckle quietly and opened the door.
"I brought you more towels," Gayle, their host greeted them, shoving a stack of fluffy white towels at Jack. "There are a couple in your room, but I always like to bring more. If you need more-"
"We'll be fine, thanks," Jack said, already starting to shut the door.
Lisa continued to snicker, but before Jack could close the door any further, Gayle spoke again, "Now, I do have laundry services if you need anything laundered. I noticed you were both in dress clothing and can even send it out-"
"We'll be fine, thanks," Jack repeated with a single nod, adding before Gayle could say more, "my wife and I are set and comfortable for the night. Thanks." He didn't wait for anything else but shut the door softly, turning back to Lisa who was now leaning with her shoulder against the wall. She had Jack's suit jacket dangling on her finger and nodded at it.
"You know, she'll send this out to be cleaned. I can call her back up here," Lisa hooked her hand over her shoulder, grinning at him.
"Even if I'd worn that on a cattle drive," he said, stepping toward her as he spoke, "I wouldn't call her back up here tonight to deal with dry cleaning." Lisa laughed at that, and Jack tugged her away from the wall and into his loose embrace. Lisa grinned as she wrapped her arms around him too.
"You looked really beautiful today, and before you twist my words," he rolled his eyes and she chuckled, "you do look beautiful each day. Today, you about took my breath away, this dress," he said, stepping back, still with arms around her, but to look at it again, "is perfect on you and for today."
"Oh, it was advertised as a second marriage dress."
"What? It was?" Jack grimaced, tilting his head at her.
"No!" Lisa laughed, smacking at him. "I'm just teasing, but you really should thank your daughter. She is the one who spotted the dress first, and when she showed it to me, I knew it was the right one. I do love it. Now," she narrowed her gaze, "you told our host," she chuckled again and sighed, "we were comfortable for the night, so what do you say we try that?"
"I'd say that it sounds like the best idea we've had since deciding to get married today." Jack leaned down to kiss her again, Lisa grinning up at him. He brushed her hair from her face and smiled tenderly at her, "Your perfume smells really good."
"It's the one you just bought me and gave to me as a wedding gift."
"Really, that's the perfume I bought in the village when you and the girls were shopping?"
"No, sorry, I confused it with the perfume my French boyfriend bought me," she grinned and swatted at Jack as she stepped out of his embrace and toward her bags. "Really, Jack?"
"Well, I don't know, but it smells really good."
"You picked it out," she said, laughing at him as she started to go through her bag. Jack made his way to the small table in the room and started to undo his cuff links and watch.
"As you know, I'm old, so what do I remember?" Jack smirked at her. He unbuttoned the top buttons of his shirt and sighed while doing so, "Ahh, much better."
"I could have done that for you," she said with a nod of her head, raising her eyebrows, as she then reached for the zippered tote Marion had given her. Jack gestured to that.
"What's with that? You were all secretive about it and insisted on carrying it. I'd ask if you have a body in there, but it's a little small for that."
She laughed and gestured to it, "Do you really want to know?"
"Yeah?" Jack replied, almost as a question. "Why?"
Lisa pulled out the first wrapped gift and then the second. She met Jack's gaze and gestured to the gifts, wrapped so nicely with beautiful bows on top that she'd put on top of her bag. "My dear friend, wait," she held up her finger to correct herself, my stepdaughter," she cleared her throat and winced slightly saying it, adding, "your daughter," she pointed at him and narrowed her sparkling, teasing eyes, "gave this to me today. One is from Maggie, but I wasn't supposed to tell you that, so if you say anything-"
"Are you crazy?" Jack walked toward her giving her a horrified look, "You're telling me my daughter bought my wife something to wear, I assume," he eyed her for confirmation which she pursed her lips and nodded, "and you think I'd bring that up? Oh, Marion, great pick there for Lise-"
"Well, just clarifying since it's incredibly awkward," Lisa shook her head as she sighed.
"What is it?" Jack asked, standing over her shoulder.
She shrugged, looking up at him, "I don't know since I haven't opened either gift, but I can speculate. Maybe I should open them."
"Maybe you should," Jack grumbled. He kissed her head with his hand on her shoulder. Another knock at the door had Lisa putting her hand to her mouth as she started laughing again.
"You've got to be kidding me," Jack groaned, squeezing Lisa's shoulder as he stepped to the door. Lisa just shook her head and crossed her arms, waiting to see what their interruption was this time.
"Ahh, back again," Gayle said to Jack as soon as he opened the door.
"Aware," Jack grumbled, quietly, but Lisa chuckled hearing him.
"I forgot to tell you that we have bingo going on downstairs tonight. Oh, it's so much fun, and with a houseful, it will be a great time. Can I count you and your wife in for bingo?"
Lisa decided to step in and hopefully get the point across they weren't interested in anything Gayle had to offer for the evening, stepping up behind Jack and leaning around him, gripping his shoulders as she did.
"Hi, ahh, thanks for the offer, but it's been a long day. We're about to turn in for the night. Thanks for thinking of us."
"Oh, well, we can get a bit rowdy downstairs, the bingo area is right below your room, so hopefully we don't keep you up. I'll try to keep it down so you two can get some sleep."
"I'm sure we'll manage," she said with a single nod and gesture toward Jack. She patted Jack's shoulder, as if that was the end of the discussion with anyone, and they were stepping away and closing the door. She gave a small wave to Gayle as Jack nodded and closed the door, Lisa laughing as she put her head into his chest.
Jack spoke quickly, "Can I just say that going forward, no bed and breakfasts? I'm not a fan of traveling anyway, as you know, and this is driving me crazy."
"Agreed," she said, biting her lip as she lifted her head to meet his gaze. Both broke out into an all-on laugh, shaking their heads as they tried to get themselves under control. "You know, if we'd just told her we got married today, she could just go downstairs and announce that to the rest of the guests. That's just what we need, ehh?" She continued to laugh, finally the two settling down, and Lisa letting out a long sigh.
"It's been a good day," Jack said, squeezing her shoulders as he looked lovingly into her eyes. "Thank you for loving me and marrying me. I'm so happy to live out the rest of my life with you."
"I am too," she said, trying to hold back a yawn. "Sorry, didn't sleep well last night, thinking all about today."
"Then, you should get some sleep," Jack said quietly, a small nod at her. "Guess we both should."
"Yes, we should or at least try," Lisa gripped his hand, squeezing it, smiling sweetly at him. "Glad I get to wake up next to you from now on, I mean, when I'm not traveling."
Jack nodded and glanced over his shoulder. He waved his hand, "You opened your gifts while I was dealing with the most intrusive host ever. What was in them?"
"Oh," Lisa smirked, turning her head toward the boxes, "nightgowns, flannel ones." She couldn't hold back her grin and started to laugh as she looked up at Jack. For a brief instant, he seemed to believe her before she burst out laughing again. Jack sighed, frowning at her.
"Probably better I believe that since it's a gift from my daughter."
"Probably ,but my friends have good taste, know me well, and," she shrugged, "two evenings here if we don't kill our host," she rolled her eyes, "and two almost identical gifts, very lovely silk-one in navy and one in gray-"
"Your favorite colors," Jack nodded, adding with a wink, "my favorite material on you."
"Imagine that," she shrugged with a wink. "Suppose I can change, you know, since we both need some sleep."
"Suppose you can, and I'm about to write out my own 'Do Not Disturb' sign to keep our overly friendly host from delivering more towels or any other crazy thing she comes up with."
Lisa laughed at that as she nodded, gesturing to him, "What do you say we put this day to rest? Tomorrow is the first official day of our married life, and I'm really looking forward to that, mostly," she grinned, patting his shoulder before she walked back to her bag, "telling Gayle we're in for bingo tomororw night."
