Lloyd POV: When Zane was checking my ribs they did ache, but I was able to push that feeling away because of what he said about Kai. I knew that he was in bad shape, but a collapsed lung? I wasn't expecting anything like that, and it was awful for my already wrecked anxiety. I kept an eye on him and Nya, who was making sure that he was comfortable as he was sleeping. She had to readjust his mask because he was still wheezing a bit. It was a sound that I'll never be okay with.

Finally, Zane was done and said, "You are healing at a good rate as well. After a couple more days you should be alright."

"Okay." I responded, and he raised an eyebrow at me. He is way too good at reading people.

But thankfully he didn't comment on that and said, "Cole is going to check in later around lunch. If that's okay?"

"That's fine, thanks Zane." Nya answered, and he nodded.

After he left she sat down and said, "He's going to be okay, Lloyd. You have to remember that."

"I do. And I trust Zane with what he's doing. But…" I trailed off, thinking about all the other times he's been injured.

She must have been thinking about that too and she sighed. "This is going to take a lot of effort, but we can do it. We've been here before and everything turned out okay."

That did make me feel a little better, but all I could do was nod. I still couldn't help but be worried. Kai's stubbornness is going to be a huge problem and every one of us knew that he was going to push himself. I just hope that he won't go past his breaking point.

She glanced at me and said, "Get some sleep, Lloyd. You're going to wear yourself out if you don't."

"I'm fine." I said, but a yawn soon after and she raised an eyebrow at me. Why does my body hate me?

She sighed a little and said, "Do you want to continue arguing, or are you just going to sleep?"

I sighed heavily and laid back, winced a little from the pain that followed. She looked at me when that happened, but thankfully she didn't say anything. She just pulled out her phone and I closed my eyes.

In a way she was kind of right. Because I could feel the exhaustion hitting me hard.

But I still fought it a little, mostly because of Kai's wheezing. It wasn't loud, but it just reminded me of his lung infection. However, it soon became too much and I started to fade into sleep.

Nya POV: It took him a while, but eventually Lloyd finally went to sleep. He still looked worried despite sleeping and I didn't like that. He needs to start relaxing before he ends up hurting himself. However, I knew that he wasn't going to stop until Kai gets noticeable better.

I let them both sleep and scrolled on my phone for a while. Checking on the machines every so often just to make sure that everything was okay. Fortunately nothing happened, and outside of his wheezing they were both quiet. Even Lloyd slept for a long time since he was really tired mentally. I let him sleep and eventually Cole walked in, with sandwiches and drinks in tow.

He saw the both of them sleeping and quietly closed the door after setting the food down. He placed a sandwich next to Lloyd and sat down next to me. He handed me one and I thanked him.

"So, Lloyd is finally resting?" Cole asked quietly.

"Yeah, but it's probably not going to last long. He's overthinking everything." I commented, looking at his worried sleeping face.

Cole looked at him too and sighed. "He's too much like Kai in that way."

"You're right, and unfortunately there's nothing we can do to change that." I said, and he nodded.

Then we went into silence as we ate. I didn't realize how hungry I was until I took my first bite. I ended up finishing it really fast, which Cole noticed and gave me a look. And I know that it means that it's my time to get a lecture.

"Have you been eating?" He asked, but I had to think before I could answer.

"I haven't had any big meals, but I have been eating." I answered. But he raised an eyebrow.

But he sighed a little and said, "Look, Nya, I know that you feel like you need to watch over these two. But you're not the only one that can. All you have to do is ask and we can step in."

"I know. Believe me I do, but… I just get carried away when something like this happens." I admitted. There's no point in trying to deny it since it's who I am.

"And Lloyd is like you in that way." Cole said, and we both laughed a little.

We went back to silence, mostly for the injured two, but it wasn't awkward. More like a reassuring silence that felt nice. Cole is really good at making everything seem better.

Soon though he broke it and said, "You should probably go and see Jay, He's been a bit worried about you too. Plus, I think you need to see someone that isn't covered in bandages. I'll stay here in the meantime."

He did have a point. Besides, I could use a distraction. I stood up and said, "Alright, let me know if anything changes."

"I promise." He said, and I nodded to him. Then I left to find Jay and took a deep breath as I closed the door. Hopefully, nothing happens to them.

Kai POV: I groaned from the aching pain that seemed to increase by the second. I tried to just go back to sleep, but it wasn't working. I had to open my eyes and I groaned at the light. But almost immediately someone turned it off and I heard them move closer.

"Kai? Are you okay?" It was Cole.

I glanced over and saw him and his worried expression. He must've had Nya take a break, and I internally thanked him.

"Kai?" He asked again, getting more worried.

"I'm… fine. Just aching all over." I responded.

He took a small breath and asked, "Do you want me to get Zane?"

I wanted to say no, but the pain was slowly getting worse. So I nodded and he immediately got out his phone. He didn't say anything, he just gently smiled at me in reassurance. I wanted to smile back, but I couldn't. I was just too didn't take too long to come back, and after one look at me he went straight to my IV.

"What's wrong?" Cole asked, a little nervous by Zane's behavior. And he wasn't the only one.

"It's nothing serious. The medication I left to cycle through Kai's system is low. I only need to replace it." he answered, completely calm and already working on the problem.

Cole visibly relaxed and I whispered, "At least it's not anything serious."

Cole snorted a little at that, but Zane was in the zone. And once he was done a slight chill went slowly through my body, making me take a deep breath. Zane is a really good doctor.

"Thanks." I whispered. Kind of wheezed that out a little, but he nodded.

"Of course, my friend. Now please get some more rest." he responded, and he didn't need to say that twice because I was already fading.

Zane POV: Once Kai was asleep I turned to Cole. In his eyes I knew that he had more questions. I prepared myself for them, but instead he gestured for us to talk outside. I glanced at Lloyd, he was asleep too, and nodded in agreement.

Once I closed the door he said, "Is the meds the only thing that was wrong?"

"Yes. He is still recovering at the steady rate that he was at before." I answered, and he looked convinced.

"Okay, what about Lloyd? Is he doing okay?" I had to think about that question.

Physically, he was recovering as well. After a couple more days he should be healed enough to not be too concerned. Mentally, however, is not recovering as well as his body. That is something I've been trying to keep an eye on. Though I haven't been able to really talk with him myself.

"Lloyd's ribs will be recovered in at least two more days. However, his anxiety, at this point… It will only improve once Kai is able to start moving around." I finally responded. Cole didn't seem to like that answer, but he seemed to understand it nonetheless.

"I will continue to monitor their progress and try to ensure that Lloyd gets the appropriate attention he needs." I reassured him, and that made him take a deep breath.

"I know that you will. I just hope that we're getting through the worst of it." he responded.

If only he knew that he wasn't the only one hoping for that.
