Chapter 1: The Man Who Betrayed Everyone
Hi, my name is Izumi Uchiha. And I'm going to tell you how I fucked up. It all started after the Nine-Tails Incident. For starters, my parents weren't really considered to be Uchihas because my Father wasn't an Uchiha. I still loved him all the same. So it devastated me when he protected me from the onslaught of the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox.
But that self-sacrifice almost didn't matter because another fire-style Jutsu was hurled at me and the general area around me by the Nine-Tails. Luckily for me, a boy I later came to know as Itachi Uchiha came towards me while carrying his baby Brother and baby Sister, and saved me. We then ran and hid from the fox as best we could for the rest of the Incident.
Strangely enough, though, Lord Fourth Hokage appeared before us.
"Can I take Satsuki for a moment?" Lord Fourth asked Itachi. "Why?" Itachi asked. I didn't know it at the time, but "Satsuki" was the name of his baby Sister. "I'll...need her." The Hokage answered. Itachi and I exchanged looks of confusion, but Itachi handed over the baby nevertheless, and then, the Hokage teleported away using his own Teleportation Jutsu, the Flying Raijin Jutsu to disappear. We didn't know why he took Satsuki, but we both knew that he must've had a plan in store to save the village.
And then, The Fox was gone for some reason.
Hours later, it was said that the Fourth Hokage nobly sacrificed himself to kill The Nine-Tailed Demon Fox. And, miraculously, he saved two babies in the process. One was Satsuki and the other was a newborn baby boy named Naruto. The village was saved.
That sounded a little suspicious to me so I did what I normally wouldn't do...I bent the rules a bit. I snuck my way into the Hokage Tower a few days after the Incident, and somehow managed to hide myself from all the officials who were coming to see the Hokage in his office as well as the Captain of the Hidden Leaf's Police Force and the Head of the Uchiha Clan himself, Fugaku Uchiha and Itachi's Mother, Mikoto, who was still holding baby Satsuki in her arms. I pressed my ear to the wall to hear everything that's going on in there.
"Fugaku. Mikoto. Is there something you want to see me about?" Asked a familiar voice. I know that voice...well, that is to say, I've heard that voice before. But I can't remember when or where. All I remember is that that's the voice of Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage. "Yes." Fugaku answered. "It's something we wanted to talk about with you as well, Lord Hokage. Especially since Lord Fourth is no longer around to talk about it with us." Said the voice of an elderly female official.
"What is this?" Fugaku asked. Then, I heard the room gasp as though something was just dramatically revealed.
Lord Third sighed. "I thought that this might be the case..." He says.
"That's an eight-tetragram seal. No doubt about it." Said that same elderly official from before. "Care to explain, Lord Third?" Fugaku asked. "As you might've guessed, the cover story I put out about Lord Fourth sacrificing himself to defeat The Fox was only partially true. See, as powerful a ninja as he was, he couldn't actually kill The Nine-Tailed Fox. So he did the next best thing-although, whether you'd call it 'the best' is a matter of debate. He instead planned to seal The Fox away, creating a new Nine-Tailed Fox Jinchuriki. And so he did. He put half of The Fox's chakra inside his Son, Naruto. But he probably realized that that wasn't enough therefore, he needed another vessel to place the other half of the monster's chakra into. Without any other ideas in his mind, he probably chose to seal the other half inside Satsuki." Lord Third explained. "And what of Kushina?" Mikoto angrily asked. "There wasn't any way to seal The Fox inside her since she was already The Nine-Tails' Jinchuriki. I don't know how, but something must've gone wrong, and The Fox came out of the seal that was placed on her after her Son was born. Both Kushina and Lord Fourth were impaled by the Nine-Tails before it was fully sealed into Satsuki." Lord Third answered.
I then heard Mikoto starting to cry. "Why...Why couldn't he seal the other half inside himself instead?" She sobbed. "I suspect you already know this by now, but you must promise not to tell anyone what was said in this room." Lord Third told them. "Why?" Fugaku asked. "For Naruto's sake. We all know how Jinchuriki are treated everywhere across the Ninja World-mistreated, despised and abused by the hidden villages they protect by being the jailors of these monstrous beings. It would be preferred if he grew up without having to deal with that baggage. Same for little Satsuki." Lord Third answered. "Right before he died, Lord Fourth said that he wanted Naruto-both Naruto and Satsuki, in fact, to be seen as heroes for keeping the village safe by keeping those monsters inside them should the secret ever come out at some point in the future." "I understand. As a Father, I would want the same kind of success for my children if I were in his position. But he had no right to use my Daughter like he did." Fugaku angrily said. "Is there any way to undo this, at least?" Mikoto asked. "None where Satsuki would be alive after the process." An elderly male official's voice answered.
"Alternatively, you could allow her into my custody." Said another elderly male official's voice. This official, however, sounded more sinister than the other old guy's. "No, Danzo. We have talked about this extensively." Lord Third told him. "For once, I agree with the Hokage. How could a man like you ever be trusted with my Daughter?" Fugaku rhetorically asked. "I understand your aversion to me, Lord Fugaku, but someone must answer for the Nine-Tails' Attack. The Fox can't just come out of its seal, and attack everyone for no good reason. Someone must've controlled it...someone with a Sharingan, perhaps?" The sinister official apparently named Danzo rhetorically asked in reply. "You think an implicit accusation like that will make me more likely to give my Daughter to you!?" Fugaku shouted.
I can't believe it...for the first time in forever, someone's managed to crack through Fugaku's hardened, emotionless exterior. I heard that the guy never smiles, gets sad or even laughs. This guy is as serious as they come, as far as Shinobi are concerned.
"But, my Lord, if the Uchiha are so innocent, then why won't you relinquish the custody of your Daughter to me?" Danzo asked. "Enough, Danzo!" Lord Third shouted. "As I was saying, can I trust you to keep quiet about this?" "Yes, Lord Third." Fugaku answered. "Then, as far as I am concerned, this matter is resolved." Lord Third said. "Yes, Lord Hokage." Fugaku said.
I then heard footsteps walking towards the door. 'That's my cue to leave.' I thought. And so, I stealthily got out of the Hokage Tower the same way I went in, and walked back to my house.
A few years later, I enrolled at the Academy and...while I was there, I fawned over Itachi just like every other girl there. Even more to the point, he and I met a few more times. It was...lovely, if I had a word for it. Oftentimes, during lunch break, I'd find him sitting near this very small lake, and just staring off into space or something. I'll never forget that first time...
I was carrying a dango stick, and I saw him by that same small lake, just staring into the lake itself. I went to sit beside him, and said, "Hey."
Itachi just looked up at me, and then looked back at the water below us.
"What'Cha doin'?" I asked. "Me? Nothing, just..." He says.
After a bit of a long silence, he asked, "Why are you talking to me?" "This is just a little 'thank you' for saving me that one time." I answered. That's true. I never got the chance to thank him that day. Hell, I never thought I'd get a chance until I learned that every girl in the Hidden Leaf Ninja Academy had a crush on him. Naturally, I was no different. But my reasons for falling in love with him were far more different. Those girls, as cute or hot as they were, didn't see him for the hero that he is. Although, knowing what I know now about what the Hokage did with Satsuki, I'm starting to wonder if that was the right call...
That's not something I'd ever talk with him about, though. Besides, this place is too public to be talking about shit like that. Maybe blind loyalty isn't such a good thing...
I ate one half of my dango, and offered the other half to Itachi. "Want some?" I asked. "Ew, why?" Itachi asked. I chuckled, and ate the other half instead. "Hey!" Itachi shouted. "Well, that's what you get for so rudely refusing my offer!" I shouted back. For the moment we were getting angry at each other until we started laughing instead. This was so silly.
"What's your name?" Itachi asked. "Izumi." I answered. "Izumi Uchiha." "I'm Itachi. Though, I guess you'd already know that..." He says. "You're right, but who cares? Everyone either knows you because of your good looks or your too-cool-for-school attitude. I know you as that hero who saved me when the Nine-Tails attacked." I replied. "You remembered?" Itachi asked. "Oh yeah. Who could forget that? I lost my Dad that night, though..." I say. "I...I'm sorry." Itachi said. "Thank you." I replied.
The day before he asked me out, he asked me something else. We were hanging out on a bridge near the park and he was about to graduate and become a fully-fledged Shinobi. I was 9 years old at the time. "I heard that you can already activate your Sharingan, now. Is that true?" He asked me. I closed my eyes, channeled all my chakra towards my eyes as another clan member taught me to, and then opened them up again. I don't often like using the Sharingan because of this weird purple vision it gives me. "Wow!" He shouts, presumably surprised. I then deactivated my Sharingan. "That will be the only time you will ever see it, okay?" I told him. Itachi chuckled. "Okay." He answered. "What makes you so interested in the Sharingan, anyway?" I asked. "I...I still haven't awakened mine." Itachi answered. "Really?" I asked. He responded with a nod.
"Wow. The prodigy who is about to graduate tomorrow doesn't have his Sharingan yet. If that isn't a little...awkward, I don't know what is." I quipped. Itachi chuckled.
"So how did you do it? How did your Sharingan awaken?" He asked. "It just...happened after the Nine-Tails attacked the village. My Father died because of that monster, so I suppose that was the cause." I answered. "I have to say, I don't like it." "Why?" Itachi asked. "Because it gives me this...weird purple vision and kinda fucks with my senses. I doubt I'll ever get full control of it." I answered. "Nonsense." Itachi suddenly said. "Huh?!" I asked, startled. "I've seen what you can do. I've seen you fight and I've seen you successfully cast Ninjutsu and Genjutsu. You're as much of a prodigy as I am, some people say. I think, given time, you will have full control of your Sharingan." Itachi explained further. I started blushing at him.
"You really do have a way with words, don't you?" I rhetorically asked. "Hmph." Itachi scoffed while smirking at me.
The next day, as I mentioned before, he asked me out even though he was already on a four-man Hidden Leaf Ninja Squad and would soon be carrying out missions by this time. I said "yes", of course. We kissed to celebrate the moment the night after our first date.
Years passed, and we grew older. Satsuki was like six years old by now and so was Sasuke and both had entered the Academy. Meanwhile, Itachi became a Chunin at the age of ten, and I was still just a Genin although, one of my teammates, a Kunoichi named Akiha Terasaki, became a Chunin in my and my other teammate's stead. A year after he was promoted, Itachi joined the Anbu Black Ops, a secret organization meant to carry out assassinations and act as spies. Only those who are higher-up in rank know about them. And, I know what you may be thinking: "Izumi, you're just a Genin! How can you possibly know that!?" That Chunin on my team told me about them after a mission that went...terribly wrong. Luckily, the Anbu bailed us out. It was after that mission that I found out about them. And I once accidentally caught Itachi putting on his Anbu gear though he never saw me watch him put it on.
And that was where I started fucking up. Because as soon as he joined the Anbu, Itachi started acting all...weird. I thought it was alright because on our next date, which took place two years after joining the Anbu, he told me about this good friend he had. A boy named Shisui.
"Are you really that cool with him?" I asked. "Of course. Although, I can't tell you how I met him." Itachi said before winking at me. We were dining at this fine restaurant somewhere in the northern part of the Hidden Leaf Village. He and I were still dressed in our ninja gear. "Of course." I replied. "So...what else is new?"
That was when he got serious.
"Do you think the clan is...wrong, by any chance?" He asked me. "What-What do you mean?" I asked in reply. "I've heard some rather...disturbing things about the clan. They're rumors, of course, but I heard that they're planning to commit treason against the Hokage and the village." He answered. "That's outrageous!" I shouted. "Why would they do such a silly thing?"
Itachi looked around, and then said, "Perhaps this isn't the place to talk about such things..."
We ate the rest of our food and drank the rest of our drinks, and then, after paying for the food, Itachi asked me to take him to my place.
"Um...of course. Mom should be out buying groceries or something..." I say.
We walked to my house together, holding hands. I was happily blushing at him while he was just looking sad and down in the dumps.
After we got to my house, we took off our shoes, and we then walked up to my room. "I hope you're okay with being in a girl's bedroom." I teased. "You and I both know I've been through worse." Itachi replied. I chuckled.
Once we were in my room, we sat down next to each other on my bed, and Itachi started explaining his crazy theory.
"Right after the Nine-Tails attacked the village, the council had a meeting and argued about the cause of the attack. My Father denied claims that the Uchiha were behind it-especially because we lost clan members in the attack, too-but they were still suspicious. So, as a consequence, the Uchiha were forced to move their entire compound to the outskirts of the village." Itachi said. "I remember the move, at least. It must be Hell for anyone to report anything to the police right now..." I quipped. "Just one reason this angered the Uchiha. Anyway, after the move, more and more things kept happening at the Uchiha Clan's expense." Itachi then said. "Like what?" I asked. "For instance, more and more power shifted away from the police and to the Anbu to the point where the Anbu were the ones solving crimes as well as taking part in their usual activities. Meanwhile, the members of the Hidden Leaf Police were relegated to being beat cops, taking care of disorderly drunks and solving rather boring and mundane civil disputes." Itachi answered. "It went on to the point where the Uchiha claim they're being oppressed by the village's higher-ups. The Hokage and my Father are currently in damage control mode, trying to bring a peaceful end to this conflict." "That's insane!" I shouted. "Tell me about it." Itachi agreed. "This all sounds like pretty serious, top-secret stuff. Why are you telling me all this?" I asked. If he was sad about what he will go on to do, I will never know. All I know is that I should've pushed him for more information and what we'd do about this. But I was dumb and in love.
"To tell you that, no matter what happens, I will love you." He said.
That was when we kissed, started making out, and then, he and I started taking our clothes off and we laid on my bed, and he fucked me. His touch was so hot, I thought I was going to explode.
But, it was fine. When we finished, he and I cuddled.
"I love you too, Itachi." I said.
If I'd known what he was about to do nearly a year later, I would never have said those words to him.
Time passed, and everything seemed to be fine. On top of that, Satsuki seems to have made a friend in that boy, Naruto. Sasuke didn't like Naruto for whatever reason, though. And I've come to understand that that was not new to Naruto. Someone let slip that Naruto was the Nine-Tails' Jinchuriki back when he was four and so now, he's a homeless orphan who everyone beats, berates and hates for the crime of existing. If they knew he was the Fourth Hokage's Son, I doubt that they'd be treating Naruto the same way. And because the secret got out (though no one's told Naruto just yet), the Hokage issued a decree saying that it's illegal for anyone to speak of Naruto's Jinchuriki status in public lest they want to be executed. That still doesn't stop the villagers from mistreating him.
One time, I was sitting on a stool near a food stand in the Hidden Leaf Village's Marketplace when I heard a ruckus from outside. I took a peek to see what the noise was all about, and...yep, I knew it.
Two male villagers were yelling at Naruto and beating him up because apparently, he...stole something? An apple? Naruto, meanwhile, was on the ground, in a fetal position. I was just sitting there, sipping on some orange juice, and then, I put my orange juice back on the counter, and paid the man behind the counter. "Keep the change." I told him. I got up from the stool, and got out of the stand just as those two guys were taking Naruto to a back alley. I followed them, and said, "Hey!" "Oh, would you look at that..." One of the villagers says as the two of them stop torturing Naruto to notice me. "...the Harpy has come to save the Demon from his well-deserved justice." "Justice? All I'm seeing is revenge. And unlike you, that pretty much goes against my policy." I said. I remember my Jonin Sensei telling one of my other teammates (no, it was not Akiha) about how bad walking the path of revenge is. "Yeah, well, get a new policy." The second guy said. "You do know that this is The Demon, right?" The first guy asked. "Aren't you guys not supposed to talk about that?" I asked in reply. "What are you, some kinda cop?" The second guy asked. I put the navy blue Hidden Leaf headband on my forehead, and said, "No, but I'm pretty sure the Hokage will forgive me if I rough you up a little too much, right?"
I then pulled out a kunai knife with my right hand, held the knife in a reverse grip, and prepared for a fight.
"C'mon." I said while making the "come here" gesture with my left hand.
"Oh shit!" The first guy shouted. "She's an actual ninja!" The second guy shouted. "Run!" The first guy also shouted. They then ran right past me, and ran out of the alley. I put away my kunai knife, and watched them run. "Ha! Losers." I said.
I turned my attention back to Naruto, and walked up to him. "How are you doing?" I kindly asked. I can hear the boy's cries. I don't know why, but I feel a sudden urge to comfort him. But, from what I've heard about him, he wouldn't like that. Maybe it's the parental instinct that all Humans have. The boy looked up, and saw me. "Stay-Stay away!" Naruto shouted. It was clear to me that he said what he said out of fear. He wasn't meaning to be rude. "Come, now, is that any way to thank the person who saved you?" I asked. He was backing away from me slowly. I slowly walked towards him, and simply gave him a few headpats before giving him a bit of candy I bought earlier that day. Naruto took the candy, unwrapped it, and ate it. "See? I'm a friend." I told him.
We ended up starting our friendship that day. "My name is Naruto." Naruto said. "I'm Izumi." I replied. I wondered if he'll remember me when he gets older.
We talked for a bit, I basically reassured him that he wasn't some dangerous demon that everyone was making him out to be without telling him about his status as a Jinchuriki. After I walked him home, and said goodbye, I made my own way home, and was stopped by a member of the Hidden Leaf Anbu with a white porcelain dog mask on before I could get inside the gates of the Uchiha Compound. I got kind of scared. "Am I...in trouble, Mr. Anbu Guy...?" I asked. "No. I just wanted to thank you for protecting the Jinchuriki when I couldn't." The Anbu member answered. "You're welcome." I simply replied. The Anbu Guy then disappeared.
I continued my walk home.
I probably should've ran away from the Hidden Leaf Village because I heard that tensions between the Leaf and the Uchiha were really coming to a boiling point. Even more to the point, Itachi was acting stranger than ever, having now attacked three members of the Hidden Leaf Police over some nonsensical notions about how arrogant the clan has become.
It was at least one reason why I've been spending as much time as I can out of the Uchiha Compound. The fact that I would get missions from the Hokage from time to time helped out with that alot. In fact, I was completing so many missions, Lord Third had elected to promote me to Chunin. They gave me a Chunin flak jacket, and that night, I went home telling my Mom about my promotion. That was probably the last time we'd ever be happy, smiling together as a Mother and Daughter should. So now, I wore my Chunin flak jacket after I put on my regular Kunoichi gear (which consisted of: a sleeveless purple shirt with a high collar and the Uchiha Clan symbol on the back, baggy blue pants and a pair of navy blue ninja sandals) and my Hidden Leaf headband anytime I need to go into "serious ninja mode". Like when I need to go on a mission. Or when I randomly patrol the city without anyone telling me to.
Although, my first mission as a Chunin wouldn't be assigned to me by the Hokage.
Because...
One day, I was walking out of the Uchiha Compound dressed in my ninja gear, my Chunin flak jacket and my navy blue ninja sandals and with my navy blue Hidden Leaf headband on my forehead when, out of nowhere, three Anbu members dressed only in beige cloaks appeared around me, and used the normal Teleportation Jutsu to take me to some grand circular old-looking underground chamber. They held my arms like I was being arrested, and then chained both my arms to a nearby wall. In the center of the chamber was what looked to be a makeshift ritual site. And tied to an altar was Satsuki.
'Satsuki?! What the Hell is going on!?' I thought. "It's alright, Izumi. He promised me that you'd be spared." A man in a cat-like porcelain mask said as he walked up to me from my left side. "Is that...you, Itachi!?" I asked. Itachi took off his mask to reveal that it was, indeed, him. Another man with messy black hair, a small scar that was shaped like the letter X on his chin and only one visible eye (the other was covered in bandages that covered the upper half of his face) walked up to me from my right. "You should not have revealed yourself so soon, Itachi." The man said. 'I recognize that voice!' I thought. 'That man...is Danzo!' I then realized. "I apologize, Sir. It was necessary to ease her mind." Itachi said to Danzo. Danzo was dressed in a black and white robe. A black and white robe which covered his right arm and both of his feet.
"What are you doing to Satsuki?" I asked. "Somebody! Help!" Shouted Satsuki.
Itachi and Danzo exchanged looks, and then, Danzo nodded at him, and Itachi turned towards me, and gave me his crazy story.
"Shisui reported continued discontent from the Uchiha towards the village and...as it turned out, those rumors I was talking to you about were true. Shisui planned to use the Kotoamatsukami to convince my Father and the other Uchihas to not start a coup against the Hidden Leaf. Unfortunately, however, Shisui went and 'committed suicide', or so it's believed." Itachi partially explained. "It turned out that Fugaku orchestrated Shisui's death to make it look like a suicide." Danzo added, continuing the explanation. "Regardless, Shisui's plan died with him." Itachi said. "So, we have unfortunately concluded that there can be no future where the Hidden Leaf live in peace while the Uchiha Clan still survives." Danzo said. "What the-both of you are insane!" I yelled. "I am not done with my explanation." Itachi told me. "Upon talking some more with Lord Danzo, we decided that I should get the honor of killing the entire Uchiha Clan while you and Sasuke still survive." "And what about Satsuki? Is she not still the Jinchuriki?" I asked. "That's the beauty of this little plan of ours. We know we cannot kill Satsuki while the beast still lives inside her so we are conducting a ritual to take the Nine-Tails' chakra out of her, and inside you." Danzo explained. "It was the price we agreed upon when I was negotiating for your survival." Itachi added. "You are both insane. You can't just trade lives away like that!" I shouted. "You are in no position to say such things, girl." Danzo told me. "Itachi, commence the operation." "Yes, my Lord." Itachi said. Itachi then used the Teleportation Jutsu to disappear.
Danzo turned towards the makeshift ritual site, and walked towards it, probably expecting me not to make a sound.
I was still chained to the wall. This ritual was seemingly taking forever. On top of that, a dark aura started to fill the room as twelve masked ninjas gathered around the altar in a circular formation, and started chanting as Danzo and I watched.
I was horrified. This is the type of shit you'd usually read about in horror novels and yet, here I am, living in one!
If I wasn't chained, I'd slap myself awake but I don't think I'm dreaming.
And then, suddenly, some minutes later, something with the ritual went wrong.
I don't know why, and I probably wouldn't understand how, but there was this immense purple fire surrounding Satsuki that separated the masked ninjas from Satsuki that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. "What are you all doing!? What's happening?!" Danzo asked. "The Dark Reaper Summoning isn't working! Or it is...? I don't know!" Shouted one of the masked ninjas. 'What?' I thought. 'What's a Dark Reaper?'
But I would find out soon enough-or, well, to be more accurate, I'd find out what a Dark Reaper-like entity that was mixed with half of the Nine-Tailed Fox's chakra looks like.
Satsuki's seal quickly came undone, and some great big ghostly-looking monster that had a purple glow, a fox-like head, body, legs, and feet, two glowing red eyes and nine fox-like tails suddenly came out!
"Foolish, foolish Humans. Even so, I expected nothing less from the race that keeps locking me and my brethren in cages again and again and again. And I expected that the Fourth Hokage's seal wouldn't be manipulated by punks like you so easily. And my expectations were met with flying colors. Because of you, though, I have no choice but to join the vessel you put me in, and head on into the netherrealm...but actions must be punished. Perhaps, I will explode in such a way that you can't possibly be ignored any longer." The entity said.
"No, wait!" Danzo shouted.
But it was already too late. The ground started quaking so much that my chains broke themselves. Everyone started to run and Danzo was following suit. I considered beating Danzo's ass for what he did and what he's about to do, but I knew that if I did that, I'd get killed so I just ran down a tunnel like everyone else.
After running through corridor after corridor, I finally made it outside. After that, I tried to get a sense of where I am. 'Wait...is this...the entrance to the Anbu's HeadQuarters?' I thought. I turned around, and, surely enough, there it was. The doorway that led into the Anbu's HeadQuarters. Even more to the point, I was in the forest where the Anbu's HeadQuarters was located. I then felt the ground quake, and before long, I saw a big purple explosion that clearly came from deep within the Anbu's HeadQuarters. The dark energy was released because of the explosion, and after that, it zoomed into the sky, presumably never to be seen again. I then regained my senses.
'Shit! I've gotta go stop Itachi from murdering the entire clan!' I thought. I then turned around, and ran out of the forest, and then ran to the Uchiha Compound. I heard many sword slashes and screams. Then, after that, the whole place went quiet. Maybe he heard the explosion, and halted his genocide for a moment...?
I concluded that that was my opportune moment to kill him for murdering almost everyone in the clan. I pulled out one kunai knife. And began searching for Itachi.
And then I kept searching, but I've found nothing but the corpses he's left in his wake. But I got something close to a second chance when I heard Sasuke's scream. I ran back over to the Uchiha Compound's gates only to see Sasuke lying down on the ground with his eyes closed. I thought him dead.
"Sasuke, no!" I yelled. I put away my kunai knife, and rushed towards him and then I got down on my knees, picked him up, started to hold him, and then, I started crying with Sasuke in my arms. Despite all the plotting and scheming that the Uchiha Clan and the village were doing from behind the scenes, I still treated Sasuke like he was my Brother-In-Law. I treated Satsuki like she was my Sister-In-Law, too. I loved them both as Siblings-In-Law, too. So, to think that both of them died young...I...
Anyways, I must've been crying until it was daytime because I felt a hand on my right shoulder, and then, a voice kindly said, "Don't worry, he's still alive."
I looked to my right, and then upwards, and saw a masked ninja. I got startled because of that. "Calm down, Izumi. They are not one of Danzo's ninjas." A recognizable voice said. I then turned my head to face forwards, and saw Lord Third Hokage walking up to the two of us. I took a deep breath. "I apologize. I didn't mean to assume." I said. "Not to worry, Ms. Uchiha. It is perfectly understandable." The masked ninja with a feminine voice said. Sasuke then started to wake up. "I-Izumi?" He asked. He then got off me, and stood up on his own. "Where's Itachi?" He then shouted. "Calm yourself, boy." Lord Third told him. "Lord Hokage..." He says. "It...Itachi did it!" He started to pass out again. I immediately stood up, and rushed to catch him. I did, in fact, catch him before he hit the ground.
"Did Itachi do this?" Lord Hokage asked me. "It may be hard to believe, my Lord, but yes, yes he did." I answered despite my inner self telling me not to. Then, other masked ninjas appeared around us. "Sir, we've searched the whole area for survivors." One masked ninja reported. "And...?" Lord Third asks. "These two are the only ones." A second masked ninja answered. "Sir, we also noticed that every other resident was either cut down by a sword or had a Genjutsu cast on them before they died." A third masked ninja reported. "Not even the Hidden Leaf Police or the children managed to survive..." A fourth masked ninja reported. "And Satsuki...?" Lord Third asks. "Her location is unknown, Sir." The female masked ninja said. Lord Third turned to me, and said, "Tell me everything, no matter how unbelievable it may seem." "Yes, Sir..." I say.
I then explained to him everything that happened from the point where I was kidnapped by these two masked ninjas in beige cloaks to the entity that escaped from Satsuki's seal, and blew the entire place up. I also told him how I managed to escape from the blast and how I ran over here to hunt down Itachi, and kill him before he kills anyone else.
"...but it's obvious that I failed in that regard..." I say. "Well, at least the two of you are still alive." Lord Third replied. "That's all that matters, now."
Five Years Later...
Izumi Uchiha, now a Jonin, was finishing telling the rest of her story to her friend, Anko Mitarashi while standing to Anko's left on the bridge where Izumi and Itachi once stood.
"...and that was how I fucked up. As you know, Sasuke confirmed that Itachi was the one that was behind what we now know as the Uchiha Massacre, and then...well, Sasuke and I both moved on with our lives because we had no choice. I became a Jonin three years after the Massacre, and now, even though I just witnessed the corpse of Kakashi Hatake, I'm supposed to become a Jonin-Sensei to a bunch of bratty, snot-nosed Genin, apparently." Izumi said, finishing off her story. "That's...crazy. It makes my experience as Orochimaru's apprentice seem...insignificant in comparison." Anko replied. "Ah, I don't think my traumatic experience diminishes your own for even a second." Izumi also replied. "In fact, I think we should count ourselves lucky that we survived all the shit we went through."
Anko chuckled. "Maybe so." Anko then said.
Anko looked at her clothes, and then asked, "Speaking of your Chunin flak jacket, why aren't you still wearing it? Matter of fact, why aren't you wearing your Jonin uniform?"
Currently, she's wearing the sized-up version of her Genin outfit except her shirt is a darker purple, her boobs are larger than they were five years ago (one of the reasons for her increase in the size of her shirt) and she managed to buy black ninja sandals and a black Hidden Leaf headband since her old ones didn't fit her anymore.
"Oh. I...I guess it's out of a sense of nostalgia...also...the first and last time I ever wore my flak jacket, I failed to prevent the deaths of my family. And the first and last time I wore my Jonin uniform, I-I got Akiha killed, too. After that, even though I at least kept Sasuke alive, and Akiha's last mission with me went well, all things considered, I still don't feel as though I should keep my title as 'Jonin' or as 'Chunin'. So...as far as I'm concerned, I'm not a Jonin or a commander or a captain or whatever the higher-ups want or need me to be, I'm just...'me'. Just call me by my true name, not 'Captain Uchiha' or 'Commander Uchiha' or 'Izumi-Sensei', just call me 'Izumi'. I'd be fine with that." Izumi explained.
Anko chuckled. "You really are somethin', aren't ya?" She asked her. "What can I say? It's all a part of my charm." Izumi replied. "Then maybe you can 'charm' your students into respecting you and not just seeing you as a loser they might see you as." Anko said. "Speaking of, it's about time you go ahead and meet your new students, eh?" "I guess so..." Izumi says. Anko turned right and walked away. Izumi sighed, preparing for whatever embarrassment might come her way.
Izumi used the Teleportation Jutsu to disappear from that place, and reappear in the Academy. As she walked down the hall to Iruka's Classroom, she found herself reminiscing on her time as an Academy Student...
...the way she'd write on the walls of these very hallways out of spite for another girl she feuded with...
...the countless times she's rejected boys' requests whenever they asked her out...
...and the times she's thrown dull kunai knives at the wooden target in the gymnasium with her friends after school.
Obviously, so much has happened since then. She remembered the first time she ever killed someone. It was on her hundredth mission as a Chunin of the Hidden Leaf. She was on her way (with a squad of her fellow Hidden Leaf ninjas) to the border of the Land of Water when she and her team were confronted by five spies from the Hidden Frost Village! She had to kill one of them with her kunai knife because they were about to cut her in half with a sword. After being traumatized by that experience, she started thinking that it was a shame that the person she killed had to die because he was such a hunky dude. Then again, it was a kill-or-be-killed type of situation because he was one of the dumbass spies from the Hidden Frost Village who tried to start a war with the Hidden Leaf. After that fight with those Hidden Frost ninjas, she successfully (with an envoy of her fellow Hidden Leaf ninjas) delivered a peace treaty to the Hidden Mist Village. And they were delivering a peace treaty because, during the last years of the reign of the Fourth Mizukage, the man launched a series of attacks against the Hidden Leaf because, as he claimed, the Hidden Leaf was funding the rebels with whom they were locked in a deadly civil war. But when the rebels won and the Fifth Mizukage, a middle-aged woman named Mei Terumi, got into power, she sought to end the feud between both hidden villages. The Hidden Frost spies were just getting in their way. So now, Lord Hokage had another situation to diplomatically resolve to make sure that the Hidden Frost really weren't trying to start a war with the Hidden Leaf and, as luck would have it, the situation didn't result in a war between the Hidden Leaf Village and the Hidden Frost Village. Izumi felt lucky at the time because she'd rather not kill anyone if she doesn't have to. And war involves killing. A lot of it.
'In any case, now is not the time to be dwelling on the past.' Izumi thought. 'I'm going to be working on the futures of three young ninjas, after all. Two of which I'll be interested in the development of...'
And as soon as Izumi opened the door to Iruka's classroom an eraser fell on her head. "Izumi?!" A certain familiar voice shouted.
She saw the three ninjas she'll be taking care of from this point onwards.
There's Naruto, who's grown more hyperactive and knuckle-headed than when she met him...
...Sasuke, who's eyes are surprisingly cold and distant like he couldn't care about anything or anyone...
...and, finally, and interestingly, there's a girl with long black hair, dark purple rectangular markings on either side of her cheeks and purple eyes which seem to be fixated on Naruto, as though she has a crush on him. The girl was wearing a pair of glasses with black frames, a black t-shirt and a pair of dark jean shorts, a pair of black ninja sandals, and a black Hidden Leaf headband on her forehead.
The voice who shouted her name was, of course, Naruto's, and the others seemed to be quietly sitting at their desks, seemingly doing nothing.
Izumi sighed. 'Oh great...' She thought.
