A/N Hey all and welcome to the next chapter of Pokemon Omega Loud! In this chapter Lincoln and Co. have an encounter with a group of Sharpedo. This chapter is loosely based on the episode of the anime of the same name, but I had to change some things up due to the lack of Team Rocket. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed writing it.
We find our heroes out at sea on Mr. Briney's ship, the S.S. Wingull. Lincoln was currently standing at the bow of the ship, eagerly watching the horizon in anticipation of reaching Dewford Town.
And his next badge.
While he watched, he took in a deep breath of salty sea air, relishing the scent of the sea. It had been a long time since he had been on a boat, and hopefully this one won't have a faulty engine, painted on oars, or get sucked into a whirlpool. Thanks, Flip.
Soon Lincoln's attention was drawn to his side where his sister and closest friend stood, also enjoying the sea air.
"The breeze is so nice," said May. She had her eyes closed as she enjoyed the breeze, and as a result failed to notice Lincoln staring at her intently, a slight blush on his face. A small cough caught and he looked to see Lana staring at him with a smug grin on her face. Quickly looking away, Lincoln searched for a diversion before an idea popped into his head.
"Hey girls? How about we take a break and do some swimming?" he asked. Almost immediately Lana began bouncing up and down in excitement, it had been a long time since she had gone for a good swim.
"If you kids want to do some swimming I know and island nearby that we can dock at for a bit." said Mr. Briney from the helm.
While Lincoln and Co. went below decks to change into their swimwear, no one on board noticed a large blue fin cutting through the water behind the ship following them at a steady pace.
Minutes later Lincoln was on the deck in his swimwear, which was a pair of bright orange and black swim trunks. He was currently waiting for Lana and May to finish changing and as he waited he noticed that the ship was heading towards a small crescent shaped island. There was a small tropical forest on the island as well as some small rocky cliffs, creating a beautiful lagoon.
"Ready to go swimming?" came a voice from behind him. As he turned ready to give an enthusiastic response, he was suddenly struck dumb by the sight in front of him. There before him was May, wearing a pink two-piece swimsuit decorated with yellow and red polka-dots. He could feel his face growing red as he stared at his best friend. The girl seemed to also be a bit embarrassed as she stood there, awaiting his response.
"So how do I look?" she asked.
"Buh..buh..buh.." came Lincoln's response.
Both friends stood there, faces bright red as they looked each other up and down. The moment was then ruined as a blonde headed blur ran past them and leapt into the water, splashing the two teens in lukewarm water.
"Come on slowpokes! The water's great!" cried Lana. Lincoln turned to his sister with an annoyed look on his face only to see that she still had the same cheeky grin as before. In a bid to get her attention off of him, Lincoln gave a loud cheer and cannonballed right into the water creating an incredibly large splash that hit all of his companions and a good chunk of the boat as well.
With a whooping cry May dove off the ship to join her companions as Mr. Briney idled the ship nearby. Soon all three trainers were splashing each other and taking turns diving off the ship to see who could make the biggest splash, which Lincoln easily won. It paid to be the cannonball champion of Royal Woods after all.
At some point all three released their current Pokemon from the balls so that they could join in on the fun. While some Pokemon, like Marshtomp and Dratini, eagerly jumped into the water other Pokemon like Lynn, Wrath, Wormy, and Beautifly preferred to stay on either the boat or the nearby beach while Skitty, Scar, and Joltik decided to nap on the deck of the ship.
As Lincoln climbed onto the deck of the ship in order to do another cannonball, he was soon alarmed by the sound of May and Lana screaming out in fear. Turning back towards the sea he was shocked to see that both girls were surrounded by dozens of dark blue and gray shark-like Pokemon that each had a yellow star like mark on their heads.
"Sharpedo!" cried Mr. Briney as he joined Lincoln, concern etched on his face. "Where on earth did they come from!?"
"Lincoln!" the girls cried, "HELP!"
"Wrath! Ralts!" Lincoln cried, getting his Pokemon's attention. "Get them out of there!"
Ralts quickly used Psychic to lift both girls out of the water, while Wrath reluctantly flew over and began nudging them back towards the boat. As this was going on the Sharpedo began leaping out of the water, intent on attacking the two trainers.
"Dratini!" called Lincoln, "Keep the Sharpedo away from the girls!"
Dratini began using Dragon Tail to knock the Sharpedo away whenever they got too close, with Marshtomp joining him in order to protect his trainer. Some Sharpedo got through, however, as there were simply too many of them.
During one such attack, a large Sharpedo managed to leap from the water and slam its side into Lana's legs before it was knocked away. The young girl screamed in pain and Lincoln's insides grew cold when he noticed that Lana's swimsuit was torn and her legs were bleeding from several nasty scrapes where the Sharpedo had hit her.
"Be careful!" yelled Mr. Briney, "Sharpedo have the Rough Skin ability! If they touch you their skin can cause damage!"
"We need to end this" thought Lincoln before an idea came to him.
"Joltik!" he yelled, "Use Electroweb on the Sharpedo!" Joltik immediately leapt on top of her trainer's head and sprayed strings of electrified webbing into the water around the rampaging Sharpedo, stunning them and causing damage.
"Quick! Get back to the boat!" Mr. Briney cried. Wrath began to push harder, desperate to get the two girls back to the boat as fast as possible, while Ralts did her best to keep the two in the air with Psychic. Visible strain was showing on the Feeling Pokemon's face but she was determined to save her trainers companions. At one point her strength began to leave her and the two girls began to descend back into the water. When Ralts saw that she began to push herself as hard as she could.
Lincoln kept calling out to his Pokemon, encouraging them to get the girls on the ship, when he was blinded by a bright light from nearby. Glancing to the side, Lincoln saw that Ralts had become enveloped in the bright light of evolution. Lincoln could only watch briefly as Ralts's form began to shift and change, before the light vanished, revealing her new form.
She had gotten taller, her blue hair now adorned with two red crystals and was now in two ponytails. Her white body now had what appeared to be a ruffled skirt and she danced around on two long blue legs like a ballerina.
With a look of renewed determination, Kirlia used her new strength to effortlessly lift the two girls back into the air and into the boat. As soon as both girls were on deck, Lincoln rushed towards Lana to assess her wounds while May did her best to calm the crying girl.
"Lana!" exclaimed Lincoln as he knelt next to her, "Are you Ok!?"
Mr. Briney then rushed forward carrying a first-aid kit in his hands. With practiced hands, the old man quickly disinfected and bandaged Lana's scrapes. Soon Lana's cries subsided and the girl quickly noticed Lincoln's newly evolved Pokemon.
"L-Lincoln" she said, "Did Ralts evolve?"
Now that the threat was over, Lincoln pulled out his Pokedex and scanned his new Pokemon.
Kirlia: The Emotion Pokemon, Female. It is said that a Kirlia that is exposed to the positive emotions of its Trainer grows beautiful. This Pokémon controls psychokinetic powers with its highly developed brain.
Before Lincoln could congratulate his Pokemon, Mr. Briney quickly got their attention.
"Now that the Sharpedo have come here I think we should get going!" he said.
Suddenly the ship shuddered as something hit the side hard, knocking everyone to the ground. Lincoln looked over the railing and his face grew pale as he saw that the Sharpedo were viciously slamming into the side of the ship in an effort to sink the vessel. Everyone quickly recalled their Pokemon, except those on the nearby island.
"Joltik use ElectroWeb one more time!" Lincoln cried. The tiny bug type quickly began spraying its electrified webbing driving the Sharpedo a short distance away. Mr. Briney quickly took advantage of the distraction and piloted the boat onto the shore of the island. Everyone disembarked the ship and stood on the beach staring out to sea where the Sharpedo began swimming in circles, cutting off any hope of an escape.

That night as the group ate dinner, provided by Lincoln, May took the chance to see what her Pokedex said about Sharpedo.
Sharpedo: The Brutal Pokemon. Nicknamed "the bully of the sea," Sharpedo is widely feared. Its cruel fangs grow back immediately if they snap off. Just one of these Pokémon can thoroughly tear apart a supertanker.
"Ya know," said Lana, motioning towards the sea with her fork. "This would be a fun camping experience, if it wasn't for them."
Everyone looked where she was pointing, spying three blue fins circling back and forth in the lagoon.
"Well at least there aren't as many of them now," said May.
"True." said Mr. Briney, "But the ones left behind are acting as lookouts."
"Lookouts?" asked Lana.
Mr. Briney nodded, "The others are probably resting somewhere not far from here."
The old man then gained a serious look as he continued, "There is something strange going on with those Sharpedo. I've never seen them form schools like this before. It almost feels like they are trying to trap us on this island."
"Well all we'll need to do is battle 'em and then we can leave," said May. Turning towards Lincoln, she noticed that the boy had a serious look on his face, one that she knew from experience meant he was thinking up some sort of plan.
"It won't work," he finally said. "There are far too many of them, even if we use all our Pokemon."
Lincoln looked at his companions, a grin forming on his face. "But there might be an easier way. The way they were attacking us was very coordinated, meaning they have to have a leader, and if they do, then we can battle the leader one-on-one. If we win then the rest should either run away or just leave us alone."
Lincoln then spent the next hour detailing his plan. While everyone had concerns about the danger involved with it, they all agreed to play their part. Shortly after they all settled in for the night, getting as much rest as possible before they initiated the plan.
The next morning, Lincoln took a large bucket from the ship and tied some ropes to all the groups Pokemon that were able to fly. Lifting his hand as the signal that he was ready on his end, he looked and saw the return signal from the rest of the group. Placing the bucket in the water and stepping into it, Lincoln then had the flying Pokemon begin rapidly pulling him out into the water like he was water skiing.
The Sharpedo immediately began to chase after the white-haired boy, who kept just out of reach of their attacks. Meanwhile a large scarred Sharpedo stayed behind monitoring the situation. When Lincoln saw the Sharpedo stay behind, he gave a signal to the others. Lana, May and Mr. Briney began pulling on a rope attached to a makeshift fence across the mouth of the lagoon, sealing the Sharpedo in.
When the Sharpedo saw what was happening it charged at the fence before it could be fully set, causing May to be pulled into the water. The Sharpedo quickly turned and charged at the girl, but was stopped when Lincoln's Dratini intercepted the attack.
May quickly grabbed onto the rope, letting herself be pulled back to shore as the gate was locked into place. Meanwhile, Lincoln led the rest of the Sharpedo to the other side of the island where he quickly jumped onto the rocky shore line and went to rejoin his friends.
After making sure his friend was alright Lincoln turned his attention towards the lead Sharpedo who was currently having a stare-down with Dratini.
"All right, Dratini use Dragon Tail!" cried Lincoln. Dratini rushed towards the Sharpedo slamming its long tail into the shark Pokemon, knocking it back. Sharpedo winced in pain and charged at the dragon type Pokemon, which dodged the attack.
"Use another Dragon Tail!" cried Lincoln. Once again Dratini rushed towards Sharpedo, but stopped when it noticed the Sharpedo breathing heavily.
Lincoln looked on in confusion, wondering why his Pokemon had stopped its attack. Looking closer, Lincoln became shocked when the Sharpedo immediately fell towards its side looking as if it was severely ill. It was then Lincoln noticed the barely visible purple hue on the Pokemon's face indicating that it had been poisoned.
Thinking quickly Lincoln had Dratini push the Sharpedo towards the shore where he and his companions checked on the shark Pokemon.
"It's definitely been poisoned." said Lincoln after he had given the Sharpedo a look over. "Probably by a Tentacool or a Mareanie."
"Do we have any antidotes or anything?" asked Lana, already showing concern for the Brute Pokemon.
"No," replied May, "We used up all our supply going through Petalburg Woods and haven't had a chance to restock."
"I think there are some Pecha berry trees here on the Island, we can use those to make medicine." said Mr. Briney.
Lincoln nodded. "That's good. But with how sick Sharpedo is, it will take a lot of them to cure it of the poison. It will also take some time before it regains its health."
He looked at the Sharpedo in concern, "For now all we can do is make sure it's comfortable."
Later that day, as the sun was setting, the group once again made camp on the island. Sharpedo had been given as many Pecha berries as possible while Lincoln and Lana did as much as they could to keep it comfortable.
As the rest of the group turned in for the night, Lincoln and his Dratini kept a constant vigil over Sharpedo, constantly checking its health and giving it words of encouragement.
Eventually, Lincoln succumbed to his tiredness and fell asleep, his head on Sharpedo's side.
The next morning, as the first rays of sunlight breached the horizon, Sharpedo slowly began to regain consciousness. As it opened its eyes it noticed the sleeping form of Dratini not too far away. Sharpedo quickly began to ready itself for an attack when it noticed an unfamiliar weight on its body. Glancing to the side it noticed the sleeping form of Lincoln, resting against it. Quickly realizing that the boy had been the one to care for it and cure it of its sickness, Sharpedo calmed itself before draping a fin over the boy's sleeping form and then going back to sleep.
Sleep wouldn't last forever though and eventually everyone began to wake up from their slumber. As they did so, a large crashing sound came from the entrance to the lagoon, causing everyone to leap towards their feet. The makeshift fence had been smashed to pieces as the rest of the Sharpedo began to swarm into the breach.
Before anyone could react, the lead Sharpedo swam to meet the rest of the school and began making aggressive noises towards them. While Lincoln and Co. watched, the remaining Sharpedo began to lose their aggressiveness and slowly followed as their leader swam back towards our heroes.
Stopping before Lincoln, the lead Sharpedo gave a reassuring smile before turning back to its school and barking a command.
As the group watched, a small blue and orange fish Pokemon with spiky fins and sharp teeth swam forwards, looking a bit nervous. When it was next to the leader, the Sharpedo began making barking noises towards Lincoln while using a fin to push the fish Pokemon closer.
Lana took out her PokeNav and used the Pokedex function to scan the new Pokemon.
Carvanha: The Savage Pokemon, Male. Carvanha's strongly developed jaws and its sharply pointed fangs pack the destructive power to rip out boat hulls. Many boats have been attacked and sunk by this Pokémon.
"I think Sharpedo is thanking you for healing it and is asking if you can take its baby with you." said Lana.
Lincoln looked at Sharpedo and watched as the shark Pokemon nodded at the little girl's words.
"It was no problem at all, Sharpedo and I would be glad to care for your little one." said Lincoln.
The white haired boy then took out a blue pokeball with a black net pattern on top. Turning towards the Carvanha he held out the Pokeball towards it.
The Carvanha took a moment to look at the Pokeball and then back at the Sharpedo. The Sharpedo simply smiled and nodded its head in encouragement. With that the little blue fish swam towards Lincoln's hand and tapped the Pokeball, allowing itself to be captured.
Moments later the Sharpedo slowly left the lagoon and swam back to sea. Soon, Lincoln and Co. returned to Mr. Briney's ship and as they left the island, they turned to see the Sharpedo waving goodbye.
"Well that was an interesting little detour," said May.
"Hopefully nothing else happens before we get to Dewford," said Lana.
Lincoln meanwhile just stared into the horizon, lost in thought, already making plans to take on the Dewford Gym.
And get his next badge.
A/N So Lincoln has a new Carvanha and Ralts has evolved into Kirlia! The next chapter is going to be a bit different, as instead of following Lincoln and Co. as they reach Dewford Town, we will instead be seeing how things in Royal Woods have been going while the Louds care for several of Lincoln and Lana's Pokemon. Expect shenanigans to ensue and we'll also have some appearances of several of your favorite Loud House characters, so I'll see you all then.
