A/N Hey everyone and welcome to the next chapter of Pokemon Omega Loud! This chapter is a bit slower as the group reacts to Lana finding a Pokemon Egg, and Lynn Jr. enters a surfing competition where she meets the Dewford Gym leader, Brawly! Meanwhile, Lincoln has an idea forming in the back of his head about his sister and his new Passimian. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Lincoln was absolutely dumbfounded by Lana's discovery. He couldn't believe that his little sister had stumbled upon a Pokemon egg while at the beach but here she was, the proof in her hands. Getting down on his knees, Lincoln began to examine the egg carefully, trying to remember everything Professor Birch had taught him about Pokemon eggs.

After a few minutes he nodded his head, finding nothing wrong with the egg that he could see.

"Okay, as far as I can tell the egg is fine but I think we should make a quick trip to the Pokemon Center to have Nurse Joy take a look at it." he said.

Lana looked disappointed at leaving the beach so early, with Lynn also voicing her dismay, but after a quick reassurance from Lincoln that they would come back once the egg had been looked at the group quickly left the beach and made their way towards the Dewford Town Pokemon Center.

When they entered the building Lincoln took Lana to the reception desk to talk to Nurse Joy while LJ and May waited in the lobby. As they were waiting, LJ began to look at the various posters and advertisements on the building's walls. She took special interest in the advertisements for various athletic events such as Pokebase, which looked to her like baseball but with Pokemon, something called the Pokeathlon, and the Pokemon Baccer World Cup. She had no idea what Baccer was but just as she was about to ask May, a flier advertising a local surfing competition caught her eye where the grand prize was a medal and something called a nugget.

While LJ was reading the flier, Lincoln and Lana were with Nurse Joy who was using a stethoscope to check on the Pokemon egg. After a moment of silence, the Pokemon nurse turned to the two trainers.

"The good news is the egg is in perfect condition and should hatch in a few days." she said. "However the Pokemon that laid this egg isn't native to Hoenn."

She turned to Lana with an inquisitive look.

"You said you found it on the beach close to the water?" she asked.

Lana nodded, "Yeah it was just out in the open. There weren't any footprints or nesting material nearby so I picked it up."

Nurse Joy nodded as well. "I think it's safe to say that the egg most likely drifted from its' native region and floated here on the ocean's currents."

Nurse Joy reached underneath the counter and brought out a medium sized glass container with a cream colored pillow at the bottom and a yellow lid on top. With the utmost care possible, Nurse Joy gently picked up the egg and placed it in the container before placing the lid on top sealing the

container.

She then picked up the egg case and handed it to Lana with a smile.

"Since the egg was by itself and since you found it, then you can take care of it if you'd like." she said.

Lana grinned as her eyes widened in happiness. Turning to Lincoln, she became more excited when he smiled back.

"Don't look at me." he said with a grin, "It is 'finders keepers' after all."

With a cheer, Lana gently took the egg case and ran to their room to the room she was sharing with LJ where she made a small nest out of blankets. As she was about to leave she gently placed her hand on the egg, giving it a gentle smile before speaking.

"I promise that I'll take really good care of you." she said before making her way out of the room, unaware that the egg began to wiggle just a little bit before becoming still once more.

She then made her way back to the lobby where she found LJ showing Lincoln the flier and talking excitedly about entering the surfing competition.

"LJ do you even know how to surf?" asked Lincoln.

"Well, duh!" LJ retorted, "I wouldn't be the best athlete around if I didn't know how to compete in every type of sport there is!"

With a chuckle of amusement, Lincoln led the group back to the beach. Along the way they stopped off at a nearby store where Lincoln bought fishing rods for himself, Lana, and May so they could hunt for water Pokemon if they wanted too. Lana was originally hesitant to accept the rod, but after Lincoln explained that the Pokemon don't get hurt she gratefully accepted.

When they made it back to the beach LJ immediately sought out the booth where she could register for the surfing competition. Meanwhile Lincoln, Lana, and May found a spot on the beach to watch the event and get some sun.

Lynn stood in line at the registration booth, taking the time to size up her competition. There were people of all ages and body types. Some looked like they had never been to the beach in their life, she immediately disregarded those people, but others had the tanned weathered skin of lifelong surfers, these she looked at warily as they would probably her biggest competition.

Soon her gaze landed on a man who looked like he was about Lori's age, maybe older. He had tan skin and blue spiky hair that went down to his shoulders and was wearing a pair of swim trunks the exact same shade as his hair. At his side was a short bulky yellow Pokemon with red rings on its cheeks, squinty eyes, and an odd growth on the top of its head that looked like a top-knot hairstyle.

As she got closer to the sign-in desk she overheard the man talking to the receptionist.

"Hello Brawly! No challengers at the Gym today?" said the desk clerk.

"I've closed the Gym for today. Got to defend my title as Dewford Town's surfing champion." came the reply.

"Well let's finish getting you set up," said the desk clerk. "Which Pokemon will you be surfing with?"

"My partner will be Makuhita, of course!" said the man with a grin. "I couldn't pick a better partner than him!"

The woman began writing on a clipboard before looking back up at the man. "Ok, so you and Makuhita are officially signed up!"

With that the man and his Pokemon left the line and walked away. Soon LJ's turn came up and she stood in front of the clerk ready to sign herself up.

"Hi there!" said the clerk, "Can I get your name and your partner Pokemon?"

"Partner Pokemon?" asked LJ, "I need a partner to sign up?"

"That's right," said the clerk, "This competition is a doubles tournament where both trainer and Pokemon compete to earn the most points by dazzling the judges with some synchronized surfing."

LJ gulped. She hadn't bothered to read the rules when she was looking at the flier. As soon as she had seen the word 'competition' she kinda blocked everything out.

"Well..uh..my partner is um…" she stuttered. Looking back towards Lincoln and the rest of their group she noticed that they had released all their Pokemon for some exercise. Her gaze immediately fell on Lincoln's Passimian, which was busy tossing its coconut up in the air in boredom.

"Um miss?" said the clerk, "Do you have a partner Pokemon?"

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts LJ turned back to the clerk with a confidant grin on her face.

"Yes." said LJ, "Yes I do."

"You want to borrow my Pokemon?!" asked Lincoln incredulously.

LJ had rejoined the group and had quickly explained the part of the rules of the competition, finishing off by saying that she had signed herself AND Passimian up for the contest.

"Please, bro!" said LJ, "I know I can win easily but I need a partner in order to compete!"

She then began scratching her head nervously before continuing.

"Besides, I already signed both of us up."

Lincoln looked at his sister with a small frown before rolling his eyes, sighing, and then tossing her Passimian's pokeball.

"Fine but you should probably get some practice surfing with a partner first." he said.

Before LJ could respond, a voice came from nearby, getting the group's attention.

"Excuse me," said the voice, "Maybe I can help?"

Looking towards the voice the group saw the man LJ had seen at registration walking their way, his Pokemon in tow.

"Hey, I remember you!" said LJ, "Brawly, right?"

Brawly nodded, "That's right. I'm the Deford Town gym leader, and the local surfing champion."

Brawly then motioned to the Pokemon at his side.

"And this is my partner, Makuhita."

Lana took out her PokeNav and quickly scanned the Pokemon with the Pokedex app.

Makuhita, the Guts Pokemon, Male. Makuhita is tenacious—it will keep getting up and attacking its foe however many times it is knocked down. Every time it gets back up, this Pokémon stores more energy in its body for evolving.

Brawly turned to LJ and continued speaking.

"Anyways, I overheard you saying that you need to practice surfing with a partner and I thought that me and Makuhita could help you get used to it." he said.

May looked concerned. "Are you ok with helping someone who's competing against you?"

Brawly nodded. "I don't mind at all. If anything it helps me even the playing field so I can compete against people at their best."

He then looked at LJ "Besides I can tell that you'll definitely give me a proper challenge."

LJ blushed slightly before mumbling a quick, thank you for the compliment.

Soon Brawly and LJ headed to a nearby stand to rent a surfboard for LJ, then headed towards the water to practice for the competition.

May watched as they wandered off before turning to Lincoln.

"Do you think LJ will be alright?" she asked.

"She should be fine." he said, "LJ is phenomenal at sports of every kind, and while she has had issues being a team player in the past, she's become a much more mature athlete as she's gotten older."

Lana nodded. "She'll be fine, especially since it looks like Passimian has gotten pretty close to her."

The two older trainers looked towards where LJ and Passimian were training with Brawly and were shocked to see that Lana was right. Passimian was paying close attention to the sporty Loud girl and was following her commands and suggestions with zero trouble.

"Yeah, they do seem close." said Lincoln quietly as he looked lost in thought.

Soon the surfing competition began and each competitor waited their turn as they and their partners watched each entrant compete. As both partner and Pokemon shared a board they not only had to balance on the board as they rode the waves, they also had to do various stunts.

Several contestants had issues with balance and fell off their boards, causing them to be disqualified, while the rest managed to not only stay balanced but performed admirably.

Soon LJ's turn came up and she and Passimian paddled out into the sea and managed to catch a decent size wave.

When they reached the top of the wave, LJ looked at Passimian and gave a nod. Immediately both athlete and Pokemon began playing a full game of volleyball all while staying perfectly balanced on their board wowing the judges.

When they finished everyone cheered as the judges gave her a decent score, putting her in the lead.

LJ gave a whoop of victory when she saw her score, while Passimian gave a very smug look.

Once they got back to shore, she and Passimian rejoined the rest of the group and watched the rest of the competitors, including Brawly who also performed very well.

Soon the number of competitors was eventually whittled down to just two being LJ and Brawly. To decide the winner both competitors went head to head, each surfing a different wave at the same time.

LJ and Passimian performed remarkably, using their momentum to launch themselves and their board into the air, while leapfrogging over each other to change their positions on the board multiple times.

Meanwhile Brawly had Makuhita use a combination of Force Palm to launch themselves into the air, and Whirlwind to effectively surf the very air itself.

The crowd roared in approval as each contestant finished their routine and made it back to shore.

While the judges deliberated, LJ and Brawly made their way to where Lincoln and Co. were waiting. As they walked up to the group both athletes were in the middle of a back and forth round of congratulations as they expressed how much they approved of the other's performance.

"You have remarkable balance LJ!" said Brawly, "I've never seen anybody confident enough to jump while on their board, let alone multiple times!"

"Hey you're no slouch either!" said LJ, "I never would have imagined using a Pokemon to surf the AIR!"

"ATTENTION PLEASE!" Came a voice over a speaker, "THE JUDGES HAVE MADE THEIR DECISIONS!"

Everyone turned to look at the makeshift stage that had been set up where the judges had monitored the competition.

"Would Brawly and Lynn Loud Jr. please come to the stage?" said the lead judge.

Both gym leader and athlete, made their way to the stage and stood side by side as they waited for the judges to speak.

"In a stunning display of athleticism both competitors have wowed both the audience and the judges!" said the lead judge. "So much so that we have decided to award both competitors the victory!"

The crowd went wild as the judges stood alongside the competitors who turned and shook hands as they were awarded their medals. Unfortunately there was only one nugget to give, which Brawly graciously allowed LJ to take saying that he got paid more than enough as a Gym Leader. LJ was stunned to find that a nugget was a literal piece of gold and immediately made the decision to hide it from the rest of their sisters, especially Lola.

After claiming their prizes the two athletes rejoined Lincoln, Lana, and May where Lincoln officially challenged Brawly to a Gym Battle the following day, which Brawly accepted.

For the rest of the day the group would continue to relax at the beach playing games like volleyball (which LJ and Brawly won easily) building sandcastles and otherwise have fun.

Soon the sky grew dark and after saying their goodbyes to the athletic Gym Leader, Lincoln and co. returned to the Pokemon Center to have a restful night's sleep, with Lincoln asking LJ if she could help him get some last minute training in the following day before his Gym battle.

After getting confirmation from the sporty sister, the group went into their separate rooms to get ready for bed. Unbeknownst to the girls, Lincoln stayed up just a little bit longer, taking the time to read up on the Leagues rules regarding gift Pokemon, the idea from earlier becoming much clearer.
