Chapter 5

(It is the night of the party. All the Quartermaine's…Monica, Alan, Lila, Edward, and Ned are in attendance. Jason and Elizabeth are in attendance, as well. Everyone is mingling and enjoying the music and food. Ned casually walks to Jason and Elizabeth)

Ned: "Are you two ready for the final showdown?"

Liz: (smirks) "You better believe it."

Jason: "Considering what AJ has done to us, it's high time he got what's coming to him."

Liz: "Mommy and daddy will be surprised at what their 'Golden Boy' has done."

Ned: (laughs) "I think 'surprised' will be an understatement, Elizabeth."

Liz: (shrugs) "I'm just being nice."

Jason: (teasingly) "You? Nice?"

Liz: "No, you are right. I think tonight 'Lizzie' will come out to play again."

(Jason smiles as he shares a kiss with his girl)

Jason: "I like it when 'Lizzie' comes out to play. But just so we are clear, I like Elizabeth a lot more."

Liz: (chuckles) "Thanks, babe."

(Ned narrows his eyes and smiles)

Ned: "In about two minutes, AJ will get the shock of his life."

(Jason pats Ned on the shoulder as Ned departs. Monica and Alan could not help but notice that exchange)

Monica: "I wonder what that was all about?"

Alan: "I don't know. It looks like Ned is going to make an announcement."

(Ned goes to the front of the fireplace so he can have everyone's attention)

Ned: "Hello, everyone. Thank you all for coming. Many of you think that this party is to celebrate the Quartermaine legacy or ELQ. Maybe it is. However, something has been brought to my attention. I think everyone here deserves to know what I found out a few days ago. It will have a huge impact on ELQ."

AJ: (confused) "Ned, what are you talking about?"

Monica: "Ned, if it concerns the family, this announcement should be said in private."

Ned: (shakes his head) "No, Monica. I am afraid it cannot. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE deserves to know this."

Edward: "Ned, what's going on?"

(Ned pulls out a recorder and privately arranged it days ago so the whole room could hear it. He shows the recorder. He presses play)

(The entire conversation between that man and AJ at ELQ is playing in the living room. Everyone but Elizabeth, Jason, and Ned look at Ned in horror. AJ looks around as he is understandably embarrassed. He sighs deeply and briefly closes his eyes as he knew he was officially ousted)

(Once the recorder is done playing, Edward, Monica, and Alan all approach AJ)

Edward: (angrily) "Is this true?"

AJ: "Granddad, I can explain…"

Alan: (scoffs) "Oh, I'd sure love to hear this excuse!"

Monica: "How long has this been going on? How could you?"

AJ: (sighs) "Mom, I…"

(AJ raises his hands in an attempt to slow them down so he could try defending himself)

AJ: "Mom, dad, grandfather, the device is a fake! Ned and Jason…they are just out to get me."

(Ned and Jason walk to the group)

Ned: "How can it be a fake, you guys, when it's his own voice?"

(Ned gestures as he continued)

Ned: "By the way, according to the balance sheets, AJ's been stealing for years." (chuckles) "I got to give AJ props, though. He hid it very well."

(AJ knew it was time to confess now. He knew he was caught)

AJ: "Okay, here is the deal. Someone introduced me to an online poker game and I thought 'what the hell?' However, the more I played, the more addicting it got to be."

Alan: (nods) "And you kept losing, too, didn't you?"

AJ: (nods) "Yes. I ended up being low on money because of it and someone loaned me some money to replace what I lost." (sighs) "However, even though I honestly thought I could gain what I lost, I couldn't."

Edward: "Boy, were you mistaken!"

Alan: "Why didn't you just come to us, AJ?"

AJ: "I am an adult, dad. I needed to get out of this on my own."

(Monica, who has been silent for a while, finally spoke up again)

Monica: "How much did you steal…the total amount?"

AJ: (sighs) "Mom…"

Monica: (shouts) "How much?!"

(AJ looks down in shame as he whispers his answer)

AJ: "Five million."

(Monica, Edward, and Alan face each other in horror. They look at AJ again)

Edward: "Do you mean to tell me that you stole five million from the company to handle your gambling debts?"

AJ: (whispers) "Yes."

Alan: "Answer him!"

AJ: "Yes!"

Alan: "Who was the person that threatened you?"

AJ: (sighs) "Dad…"

Monica: "Answer him!"

AJ: "Lorenzo Alcazar."

Monica: "I don't know what to do with you, AJ."

AJ: "It's all Jason and Ned's fault!"

Monica: "No, it's YOUR fault because I raised you better than this!"

Alan: "You pack your bags and get the hell out."

Edward: "You say you are an adult? You will be treated like one."

Monica: "I hope stealing from the company was worth it and treating Jason like shit was worth it!"

(As AJ raises his voice, he gestures to his mother)

AJ: "Ho, ho, ho. Look in the mirror! I was not the only one who treated Jason badly! Karma will definitely be a bitch for you!"

(AJ leaves to go pack his bags. Alan and Monica go to Jason, smiling politely)

Monica: "I know you heard the recording, as well."

Jason: "We all heard it."

Alan: "We wanted to apologize for how we have treated you."

Monica: "I know it was not right. We were hoping you would give us another chance."

(Jason scoffs incredulously as he faces his girl. She rests her hand on his shoulder and nods. As if encouraging him to stand up for himself, at long last. He sighs deeply and briefly closes his eyes before angrily facing Alan and Monica)

Jason: "Why in the hell should I? Huh? You two and Edward have treated me horrendously for years! YEARS! The ONLY one who accepted me in this family was grandmother Lila. As far as I am concerned, you, Alan, and Edward can go to hell! I have my own family in Sonny, Carly, Elizabeth, Ned, and the bodyguards, who work for Sonny. Not to mention grandmother Lila has always supported me, no matter what. It is all I ever wanted."

(Jason raises his hands to his sides as he continued)

Jason: "Why the hell do you think I changed my last name from Quartermaine to Morgan? Because I could not stand to have the same last name as you anymore! I know I am biologically related to you and that is bad enough after all the years that you treated me terribly!"

Monica: "We are sorry, Jason."

Jason: (shakes his head) "No. Too little, too late."

Alan: "I am sorry. I have not spoken up more, Jason. That is my fault. But please know I am always here for you."

(Jason tearfully speaks to his father)

Jason: "You should have spoken up before. I do not know if I can forgive that. You basically let Monica and Edward speak for you." (to Monica) "And the way you treated Elizabeth? I will never forgive that. There is a special place in hell for you."

(Elizabeth looks at Monica in the eyes as she spoke)

Liz: "You may be Chief-Of-Staff at GH, but you will NEVER talk down to me again. I'm taking care of that."

(Jason and Elizabeth walk away and go to the front door)

Jason: "I do not know about you, but I am so damn happy that AJ's been outed. Alan, Monica, and Edward got what they deserved."

Liz: "It should have happened a long time ago in my opinion. As for Alan and Monica asking for another chance? They do not deserve one, in my opinion. However, down the road, if you choose to give them another chance, make them work for it as they treated you like shit, babe." (smiles) "I'm here for you, no matter what."

Jason: (smiles) "Thank you. That means so much."

(They lean forward and share a kiss)

Jason: "Thank you for always believing in me."

Liz: "Always."
