It's bedtime in HQ. Riley has gone to sleep, and her emotions are all getting ready for bed. Then, Joy noticed that one particular emotion wasn't present.
"Wait, where's Sadness?" Joy asked.
The other emotions looked around, wondering where Sadness could be.
As everyone started to look for her, Embarrassment heard a soft snoring sound coming from the area where the mind manuals were kept. He went over and saw Sadness fast asleep with her body slumped in the chair and she was leaning over the small table in front of her and resting her head on the mind manual that was still open.
Embarrassment smiled to himself, seeing the emotion that he cared about the most in a peaceful slumber. He looked at her and he thought to himself that Sadness looked pretty when she was asleep.
He quietly walked over to her, gently removed the mind manual from underneath her, and gently and carefully scooped her up in his arms. He then took her to the bedroom. As he walked in that direction, the others noticed, but before they said anything, Embarrassment put a single finger over his lips, signaling them to not be loud. The others watched quietly as Embarrassment took Sadness to her bed, moved the covers, gently laid Sadness in the bed, and gently draped the covers over her body.
Then, Embarrassment gently gave Sadness a peck on her forehead. His body then stiffened like a board when she started to shift in her sleep. Sadness opened her eyes slightly to see Embarrassment.
"I love you, big fella." Sadness whispered before she drifted back to sleep.
Embarrassment smiled and blushed after he heard what Sadness said to him before drifting back to sleep.
Then, after everyone else was asleep, he couldn't stop thinking about Sadness and what she said to him. He knew that he wasn't really big on talking, but he did want to have a way to confess to her that he loved her in return.
