Hello, y'all. This is going to be a short chapter because I have four final exams this week. So I have about an hour to write this chapter, but on the plus side, these are the two matches that should be the easiest to write if for no other reason, they each are made for one-off jokes and are essentially just two comic relief fights before All Might v.s. Bakugo and Izuku, so this shouldn't take that long. Unfortunately, that also means this will likely be far shorter than most of my normal chapters, so enjoy this respite before we get into the insanity that is the next chapter.
"Match 8 begin," the announcer says.
As Toru and Shoji start running away from Snipe and behind cover, Toru begins thinking, "This test is stupid. I understand we're testing combat ability, but shouldn't we be testing something else for those of us without a fighting quirk? My test could be sneaking into a building without anyone seeing me, while Shoji's test could be trying to find me. Something like that, not can you beat this loser with a gun who happens to be a teacher."
"Hagakure split off and take these with you," Shoji hands her the cuffs. "I'll distract him long enough for you to get in close."
Toru gives a thumbs up and hands her two gloves to Shoji, but each of them has a string loose so that it looks like she is still with him.
As the two stand and wait, two smoke bombs fall at their feet and explode, enveloping the whole area in smoke and forcing Shoji to run out of cover with the gloves trailing behind him.
"You should know that isn't a good idea, heroes," Snipe says as he starts shooting at Shoji with the bullets hitting Shoji's arms.
As Shoji listens with his remaining arms, he can hear Toru sneaking behind Snipe, so he turns around and raises his hands to the sky.
"Aren't you giving up a little too easily for a hero?" Snipe says as he points his gun at Shoji, only for a click to be heard as the handcuffs get placed around Snipe's arm.
"Wait, how did you," Snipe turns and accidentally bumps Toru's breasts. "Oh no."
"MR. SNIPE YOU PERVET!" Toru yells while holding back some laughter at the poor hero since, after all, he couldn't see her.
Snipe quickly starts apologizing while frantically waving his hand, "It was an accident. I couldn't see ya. I didn't do it on purpose, I promise. Forgive me. I would never- you're a student. I respect women."
"Team Hagakure and Shoji pass," the announcer says while Snipe still frantically apologizes.
"Is it just me or does Mr. Snipe's reaction make it seem like this has happened before," Izuku says.
"Well he is in charge of us third years and we do have far more physical fights than you guys," Mirio says as he walks into the viewing room with Nejire and Tamaki.
"Hey Mirio," Izuku says. "I thought you guys were on lookout duty."
"Once most of the heroes were examined they let us off so we could watch the final two matches," Nejiro says as she starts walking towards Izuku with her hand outstretched but it is snatched by an unfamiliar face to the three upperclassmen.
"Don't touch my boyfriend's hair," Mina says darkly.
"But it's so fluffy," Nejiro pouts.
"It is mine and mine alone to touch," Mina says as she moves in between Nejiro and Izuku.
"Okay seriously what the hell is this with my hair," Izuku says looking to Tamaki.
"I have learned that it's best to just go along with whatever Nejiro says. Also please stop looking at me it's embarrassing," Tamaki says as he rolls himself into a little ball on the floor.
Izuku blinks and then looks at Mirio and says, "Okay I can understand Nejiro's childlike attitude and your overly optimistic attitude being good for being heroes but if this dude can't even talk without having to curl up in a ball why is he trying to be a hero."
"Largely because Mirio asked me to," Tamaki's voice comes from the ground.
"He has a very powerful quirk and the second he gets over his shyness I know he will be an amazing hero," Mirio says with a smile on his face.
"Well, what is his quirk?" Izuku asks.
"Ability to become the things he eats," Mirio says.
"... has he not tried eating a clam to grow a shell around his whole body so no one can see him?" Izuku asks.
"I'd need more clams than I'm comfortable eating around a crowd of people," Tamaki mumbles.
Before Izuku can respond Mina quickly runs up, gives him a kiss on the cheek, and says, "Well I'm up next wish me luck."
"Good luck," Izuku mumbles as he starts blushing slightly.
"Match 9 begin," the announcer says.
"GO!" Sero yells as he takes Mina and throws her up in the air. "Win this for the both of us."
As Midnight's gases start flowing over the battlefield toward Sero he takes a deep breath and starts flinging tape strand after tape strand at the assortment of rocks building a web of traps that should delay Midnight long enough for Mina to make a getaway.
As Sero turns around to starts to turn to run away towards Mina however he gets hit in the back with a whip forcing him to cough and breathe in.
"That's it no one can escape once they take a breath of my gas," Midnight says as Sero starts to lose consciousness.
"I can," Mina's voice calls out as she flings herself down at Midnight from above and kicks her in the throat while quickly picking up Sero, putting her hand near his mouth, and dispensing some liquid into it causing him to sputter and regain some consciousness.
"What's with her skin?" Shote asks as she looks at Mina's skin which looks like it's moving on it's own as small portions of it start flapping up and down.
"No idea," Momo says.
"You'll figure it out in a second," Izuku says with a smile staring at his girlfriend, causing confused looks among his classmates.
"How?" Midnight asks confused as she stands back up. "How are you not being effected by my gases?"
Mina smiles as she says, "Fun fact about my quirk it acts more like Tsu's than yours though mine is clearly not a frog."
"It's a salamander."
There is a short pause before Midnight says, "Okay that doesn't answer my question."
"Most salamanders don't have lungs they breathe through their skin and as you can see," Mina starts running at Midnight. "My skin is safely covered with enough acid to vaporize your gases."
Midnight quickly dodges backwards before launching her whip at Mina only for her to dodge it and fling some acid at Midnight's causing the whip to snap in half.
"I've had to fight Shinso in our combat trials for nearly two months now did you think that we wouldn't pick up on how to stop a whip," Mina says as she quickly kicks Midnight in the head forcing her to the ground as she takes out the handcuffs, her skin moving faster and higher than it was before.
"You lose I… win," Mina says before collapsing to the ground as she falls asleep on the ground her body slowing raising up and down as she starts taking deep breaths and her skin starts to flap less and less before returning to normal.
"What the hell happened?" Shinso says confused. "She was fine a moment ago."
"She overexerted herself," Izuku says in a sad tone. "She was trying to perform complex moves while not using her lungs forcing her natural way of breathing to overexert itself to where it had to start taking in more air forcing her skin to extend above the barrier of acid she weaved around herself."
"How do you know all this?" Shote asks.
"Besides the fact that I study quirks as a hobby and hence was able to notice rather quickly that either she didn't use as much oxygen as us or had a different way of breathing based off the fact that she never seemed to have the telltale up and down breathing motion most people do except during combat. I asked," Izuku says. "And since I'm her boyfriend and had already told her how I'm able to do what I do she was very happy to tell me during one of our dates."
"Advantages to relationships I guess," Shote says with a shrug.
"Indeed," Izuku says.
"Midnight wins the-" the announcer stops as a piece of tape quickly flies over and ensnares Midnight causing nearly everyone to jump back in surprise.
Sero slowly crawls himself up off the ground and takes several deep breaths before walking over and putting the handcuffs on a very confused Midnight.
"Before you ask I have no idea either," Izuku says as Sero quickly collapses to the ground but ending the match with a win for Mina and Sero.
Author's Note: Hello, everyone, and I hope you enjoyed this chapter. So in case you're wondering why I slightly changed Mina's quirk it's for two simple simple reasons. First I wanted to make her more powerful since (as you'll see in the next chapter) I am planning on making a lot of different characters way more powerful than they are in canon. Second I wanted to have it make more sense to why she is a heteromorph despite also being an emitter and this was the best way I could think of since it has already happened to several characters in canon. Deku's Quirks
Evaluate: Upon looking at a person or object, while the quirk is active, the user will see the target's weak points shown by a red glow. However, it can only be used on one opponent at a time.
Perception: allows the user to sense all of their surroundings and have perfect spatial awareness within a limited range (Now 100 meters/yards)
Memory Viewer: allows the user to see the memories of people they touch while the quirk is activated. However, if a memory is too painful it will cause the user to have a minor nosebleed and a migraine. It can only be activated once every 24 hours.
Deku's Gear:
2 custom swords: each capable of cutting through 10 inches of steel and has a variety of features that can be put into it including poisons and other fun things that I will come up with later
A variety of knives and flashbangs
Stun gun: 2 million volts per shock
Deployable cameras: Small cameras that stick to walls and other objects and are linked to the suit computer. They can see in infrared, normal, and ultraviolet light.
Deployable smoke emitter: small smoke emitters that can emit smoke for up to 1 hour
Various chemical mixtures created by Razor for different situations
Deku's Armor upgrades:
Boot Blades: 10-inch blades stored inside the boots of the armor that can be extended by flexing all the toes on either foot.
Computer screen that has the controls for all of the suit functions and external deployable tools
