Hello and welcome! 'Deadpool & Wolverine' is here and fabulous and now it's time to rewatch the X-Men saga! Naturally, with that comes more fanfiction ;)

I only own Nina and her storyline and anything else added to the films!

Thanks and enjoy! :)

2000, Pt. 1

His name was Logan, apparently. He and the girl, Rogue, had been attacked by Erik's group while on the road, Ororo and Scott coming to their rescue. Now he was in the lab where Nina was about to help Jean run some tests.

While Jean attached the sensors to his chest and arms and tapped at the screen on the monitor, Nina sat at his side, peering down at him from her perch on a stool. He appeared very peaceful.

She reached out and took his hand, gently rubbing her thumb over his knuckles - apparently, he had metal claws, though you couldn't tell from his smooth hands.

Jean was just readying a needle against a vein in his arm to take a blood test when the man shot up and off of the table.

Nina gave a startled cry and flew off her stool as he suddenly stood behind Jean, hand around her throat. It had all happened so fast, with lightning speed.

"It's okay," she said, trying to calm him despite her own moment of shock. She held up her hands in a non-threatening gesture. "It's okay, you're safe, we're not going to hurt you. Please let my friend go."

Without a word he did let Jean go, but fled, and with dizzying speed. Nina immediately dropped to Jean's side. "Jean! Are you all right?"

"J-Just need a moment," Jean spluttered amongst a fit of coughs.

With Jean okay, Nina hurried after the man. How had he gone so quickly? Claws? Speed? It seemed he was bursting with abilities.

The ding of the elevator signaled that he was heading to the only place he was able to go: up. She grabbed one of the extra hoodies sitting around the suit room before phasing through the ceiling and up after him.

She found him lurking around the lobby, avoiding the students running around between class.

"Excuse me-" He jumped and whirled around. Then she found herself in his grasp, her back pressed against his bare chest, one of his arms wrapped around her shoulders and the other her middle. The hoodie fell from her hands.

She squirmed but he had an iron grip. "It's not very nice to attack someone in their own home-" And with that she plunged a handful of purple energy through her own chest and into his own, sending him stumbling back. He recovered quickly though, and fled once again.

She sighed, blowing her hair out of her eyes.

Don't worry Nina, I'll handle this, came Charles's voice in her head, and she was more than happy to hand the situation over to him.

Thank you, Charles!

Minutes later when she, along with Ororo, Scott, and Jean entered Charles's office and personal classroom they found him making the necessary introductions. "This is Ororo Monroe, also called Storm. And this is Scott Summers, also called Cyclopes. They saved your life. And I believe you've already met Dr. Jean Grey and Ms. Nina Nova, sometimes called Night Witch."

She took the hoodie she had dropped in the chase and presented him with it. "I thought you might be cold." He took it and slipped it on.

"You're in my school for the gifted, for mutants," Charles continued to explain in his usual clam manner. "You'll be safe here from Magneto."

"What's a Magneto?"

"Not 'what', but 'who'. A very powerful mutant who believes a war is brewing between mutants and the rest of humanity. I've been following his activities for some time. The man who attacked you is an associate of his called Sabretooth."

"'Sabretooth'," scoffed Logan. He turned to the others and started listing them off. "'Storm', 'Cyclopes', 'Night Witch'." Then he turned back to Charles. "What do they call you? 'Wheels?' This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard."

"Oh," Nina winced playfully. "He's mouthing off, I say that's grounds for detention. Wouldn't you, Professor."

"You run detention?" Logan asked her.

"Sometimes."

"He's agreed to let us help him," Charles updated later after giving Logan a tour and allowing him to check in on Rogue.

Jean was already walking away. "Back to the lab."

A matter of minutes later they were in a very similar situation, the two ladies sanding around the bed and equipment, only this time the man laying there was wide awake.

"I'm sorry," he said, sounded awkward.

"For what?" Jean asked.

"If I hurt you, either of you."

Nina smiled. "Well thank you, but you didn't."

"So, couldn't wait to get my shirt off again, huh?" He smiled up at them - at her - in mock innocence. "If it would make things easier, you can take my pants off too-"

With a flick of her wrist she activated the scanner, sending him plunging into the machine. As soon as he was out of sight the two women shared a snort of laughter.

The results were astonishing - and frightening.

A completely metal - adamantium to be exact - skeleton, claws included, enhanced by his ability to heal and therefore never sustain injuries or be killed by the looks of it.

"Poor man," she whispered, staring at the x-ray. This was shocking enough, let alone the fact that he remembered nothing.

Later that night she showed him to the room selected for his stay. "I think you'll be comfortable here. You're welcome to stay here as long as you like, as per Charles's offer. If you need anything, Jean and Scott are down the hall to the right and I'm down the hall to the left."

"Jean and Scott? Like they share?"

"Yes."

"That's allowed?"

"We're all mature adults here. Why, Charles and I shared a room back in the day."

"You and the Professor?" he gawked.

"Yes, we shared a romance for a good thirty years. I'm a lot older than I look."

"Is that your ability? Retaining a youthful beauty?"

She rolled her eyes. "No. I can harness reality at my will."

"Excuse me?"

"It's complicated. Even I still don't understand everything. I can do a lot of things, but it's taken me a very long time to master it, and I still have a long way to go. I can phase through solid objects, do similar things to telepaths and telekinetic, I can create protective fields... Charles has been helping me ever since the '60s."

"Okay, show me something." She slammed the closet doors he had just opened. He smirked. "Oh, I bet you can do something cooler than that."

"Maybe another time. For now, it's late, and you've had a very long day."

"Can you read my mind? You said you can do some telepath stuff."

"That's more beyond the scope of what I do. Besides, I'd rather not."

"Come on, you afraid you'll like it."

Now she matched his smirk. "I doubt it." Fine, challenge accepted.

She held her hands on either side of his face and closed her eyes. He watched as purple energy began to swirl around her ringed fingers.

Then, suddenly, it all stopped and she pulled away with a gasp.

"What did you see?"

"N-nothing. I saw nothing."

"Well hey, if old men are your thing, I'm a lot older than I look too," he quipped, attempting to break the sudden tension.

Now her lips formed a thin line. "I think it's best we say good night. Good night, Logan." And with that, she slipped out of the room.

I'm SO EXCITED! :D

I've decided I will do their story in 'Days of Future Past' as a separate book as it focuses on Nina and Charles's relationship as well.

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed! :)
